He watches as the pair leave his office and once again he is left alone, the salamander jumps off his desk, before lying on the cold floor.
The creature smiled at him as if enjoying his confusion at its actions, but he wasn't alone anymore, not as long as the creature remained at his side.
He looks down at the many pieces of parchment filled with what at one time were nothing but the reports of what was going on beyond the wall.
Now the parchments were filled with all sorts of information that told what the Players were doing at the other castles as well as beyond the wall.
For the first time in years, he begins to read and he almost wishes that he was blind again.
The Players had started to move south and were marking the border of the Gift.
There was already talk among the Players about marking the border of the New Gift before anyone could claim that those lands didn't belong to the wall anymore.
The Players were using brightly colored posts to mark the border and there were already threats coming from those closest to the border.
If that wasn't troubling enough, there was the information that had come from the south, pirates, slavers and merchants alike had already started turning their eyes towards the north.
He moved from one page to another and read about the road that was being made beyond the wall towards the mountain that had placed itself near the wall but far enough from it so that it didn't put the wall in any danger.
Progress on the road had stopped as several locations that could be used for expansion were now being surveyed by the players and some of the free folk.
He lifted an eyebrow at what he found on the next page Queen Rhaella and her daughter Princess Visenya had gone missing and now most if not all of the south was searching for them.
Aemon couldn't help but rub his head, he knew that things were starting to move again, he had seen it in his youth, heard about it from those who had experienced the events that occurred before he was born, and read about the things that had happened long before then.
Bad things were going to happen and he could only hope that whatever was left was better than what came before.
Yet as he read he felt himself becoming more and more uneasy, Snow leopards the size of horses and deer who seemed to create illusions whenever they felt threatened, were just two examples of the animals that had moved into the north side of the wall.
There were even several sightings of the Children of the Forest who were trying to enter the mountain where the Players had their seat of power.
It was almost as if the stories of the First Men were still alive and well beyond the wall once again, and that was a frightening thought because that meant that the Others were once again active.
The pages that followed were filled with the drawings of the Guild Leaders, The King of the Players fighting against horrifying abominations that were a blend of men and beast.
These same men were now visiting the wall and making sure that their houses were keeping themselves in order and getting any bright ideas.
The final page he read detailed a ritual that the giants beyond the wall were performing, while his men didn't see the beginning of it they did see the end of it.
The giants had sung something that the men couldn't understand and a giant whom none of the men had ever seen before seemed to appear out of nowhere, he gave one of the giants a horn before he vanished.
Aemon looked at the salamander lying near him, It was one thing to be told about everything, but it was a completely different thing to read about them.
And now that he was looking at Flame, he knew that once he saw just how much things had changed, since the last time he had been able to see, his feelings would only get worse.
The sound of a raven flying into his office made him turn and watch the animal as it landed on his desk.
He took the message that was tied to its leg and read it, he couldn't help but laugh.
Lyanna Stark was going to be wed to Kirito Yuuki and will now be known as Lyanna Yuuki, it had also been discovered that Kiritio had taken his wife's name because she was the higher born amongst the two.
At first Kirito and Asuna had argued that Lyanna should keep her family's name or at the very least take Kirito's, Kirigaya name.
Unfortunately doing this would make her Lyanna Kirigaya, the wife of someone of low birth and that was unacceptable for everyone on the south side of the wall, so she too took the name Yuuki.
Aemon thought that this was unnecessary because Kirito had made sure to give Lyanna a way out, which said that if she wanted to, she could leave the wall whenever she wanted and return to Winterfell whenever she wanted.
Aemon was well aware of Lyanna's nature so he knew that she didn't agree with coming to the wall, but that didn't matter as he understood why Rickard had done this.
The wall was now a threat to everyone in Westeros, so he hoped that Lyanna would never turn her back on her duty.
