Chapter 38
–
The next morning, they woke up early enough to have another round, shower, and go to breakfast. Sebastian bought Kurt another coffee for the road and thanked Kurt for picking him up and then dropping him off at the school's doors with a kiss that he didn't care who witnessed it. Kurt was a bit bashful, he didn't know anyone here other than the Niff and wasn't sure how it would be received. They were a lot more open and displaying their relationship publicly than before, but he still worried sometimes.
Sebastian's complete lack of care helped bolster Kurt's feelings about it at least.
With another kiss, Sebastian sent Kurt back on his way. He'd give the grand tour another day. Kurt had to go to class and Sebastian had to go get ready for the start of his semester.
He made Kurt promise to send him at least a text when he got to his own school. It went without saying that texts would be sent back and forth throughout the rest of the day.
Sometime after dinner rolled around, Sebastian sent Kurt another text. He was grinning ear to ear as he talked with his friends as he sent it. He tried to lean casually back in his seat but he was kind of giddy. What do you say to coming up here on Wednesday rather than my coming to you?
Yes. Kurt instantly text back. What changed?
My roommate is out of town for the week. Guess he got sick on his trip and his family won't let him come back yet. The way he'd heard it, the entire family had gotten sick, actually, but he didn't need to go into those details. Sebastian knew he would need to explain everything that his father demanded of him soon but right now he just wanted to spend time with his boyfriend and introduce him to the rest of his friends and his school. He was still hoping he could convince Kurt to come up to Dalton full time, and this way they could help convince him. It was also an olive branch, he had kept Kurt from Dalton for too long. He'd gone in to McKinley a number of times already, without being invited. Kurt was so respectful of his wishes when the reverse was true. Perhaps too there was a bit of a hesitation since it was a private school but it was mostly because Sebastian had asked him not to.
Are you expecting me to stay the night? That's awfully presumptuous of you. Kurt teased and Sebastian's grin only grew.
Only if you want to. They both knew Kurt would be staying.
We'll see. I am supposed to have a chaperone at all times. Kurt's response back contained an emoji that caused Sebastian to gawf out loud and tried to cover it up with a cough and pretend he didn't just pull the eyes of all his friends. Nick and Jeff looked at him knowingly, David's brows rose on his forehead in curiosity and Wes rolled his eyes.
Thad looked interested and attempted to lean over Sebastian's shoulder to get a better look at his phone. "Who you talking to? Someone on a hookup app?"
"No." Sebastian pulled his phone away and slid it into his pocket. He'd have to hammer out the details with Kurt later. He sat forward with a very serious, very pensive look on his face. "I have something to share with all of you but you cannot tell Blaine."
"Ooh." Thad leaned forward, hands steepling under his chin and eyes dancing. "Sounds very serious. Is it herpes?"
Sebastian rolled his eyes and sat back while Nick told him off for ruining it. "Go on Sebastian, tell us." Jeff urged, not wanting to keep it a secret from the rest anymore. Yes, Blaine would still be out of the loop but he wouldn't be the only one. He could trust these five to keep it to themselves and not be overheard.
"The guy I'm texting..." He let it hang and the others looked at him, wondering if he was going to tell them something of the sort. They would not be expecting his next words, a million and ten other scenarios would go through their heads but not the truth. Only the Niff knew. Sebastian's thoughts sidetracked there for a second – Niff – Nifflers, he nearly chuckled at his own inside joke. Kurt would find it amusing and he sent him that message real quick while the others looked on in annoyance at his lack of focus.
Wes even sighed. "Forget it guys, he's just setting us up to tell us that it's his dad or something."
"No way his dad makes him smile and laugh like that." David countered.
"Long lost brother or something or a girl." Wes waved dismissively and Sebastian knew he'd let it wait for long enough.
"No way would a girl do that either." Thad pointed out and Wes sighed again and looked expectantly at Sebastian.
"Well?"
"He's my boyfriend." Sebastian answered with a brilliant smile. "And I want all of you to be on your best behavior and to impress him. We want him to want to come here. His school situation is bad enough to leave but he's holding on because he doesn't know how good it can be elsewhere and he'd only be a credit and great addition to nearly everything and everyone here."
"So he's delusional?" Thad asked slowly. "Like nuts? He's preferring to stay at his current school rather than come here? Which private school is he attending? It can't be a boarding school, everyone knows we're the best. There is some competition with Tremont's day school but that's pretty far away. I know you disappear over the weekends but you always take a car. Unless it's to go to your helicopter or private jet and you just park it in the hanger."
"No, but that's not a bad idea." Sebastian had settled down on some of his extravagance since spending time with the Hummels. There are some things he just did still without thinking about it but since Burt had expressed his worry about Kurt flying in the helicopter and not wanting his son out of state limits, he'd kind of forgot about some of the other things he used to take for granted. Things he used to just do without thinking about it, just thought it was perfectly normal. He'd hooked up with guys all over the world, one day in Paris and a night in Rome and the next day with someone in Tokyo. Maybe he'd take a guy with him to another site but his typical mode of transport had definitely included more air time.
Maybe he could still get around his dad's mandates with a few tweaks and more time with Kurt. New York to Lima by jet wasn't a very long trip. It was a bit too long for a helicopter but doable too.
"What makes him nuts is dating Sebastian." Wes added to Thad's less than kind appraisal of Kurt before they even knew anything substantial about him.
"Maybe with friends like you two, I should be the one transferring to a different school. Did you say Tremont? I might just look into it."
"So... not Tremont?" Wes seemed genuinely perplexed by that. "Then where could he possibly live or go to school? Is he older?"
That would make sense for Sebastian, only someone older would see to be able to match Sebastian's age in term of experience. Oh they'd be as surprised as the Niff to learn how inexperienced his tastes had ran but Kurt was matching him without a peep and they were at a pretty stable place, neither looking to go further than what they had. "Personality-wise, definitely." Sebastian agreed. "But no, he's not a private schooler nor older in age."
"You're dating a pube?" Thad asked scandalized and the other two didn't look much better.
"Ew, let's not call them that." Nick made a face and Jeff nodded fiercely next to him. Sebastian was not a fan either but didn't call them out on it, they'd been calling them that for ages. He was somewhat immune to it and the Niff should be too but they didn't like the term. Sebastian wouldn't want Kurt to actually hear it though.
David didn't say much, just observed and took it in and added when he found it appropriate. He was older, he and Thad were both seniors though they were on different end of the spectrum. Wes liked to think of himself as older and more mature but he was a junior.
"Kurt's not like most public school kids." Sebastian started.
"He's so mature and suave and cool." Nick jumped in before Sebastian could finish his thought.
Jeff grinned. "He's so cool, and multi-talented."
Thad looked at Jeff considering. "Have you and Nick experienced his talents for yourself?"
"He's a fantastic bowler." Jeff slid in there, evading the question and appearing innocent but honestly, he was not the one who would have invaded Kurt's space or pushed for more.
"He's smart and down to earth with big lofty goals and ambitions and sweet." Sebastian continued, knowing it was contradictory but it was such a fitting explanation of Kurt at the same time.
"And his voice..." Nick sighed dreamily, leaning into an equally besotted Jeff. Sebastian himself had only heard Kurt on occasion and sliced them a look, wondering where they heard him but Nick was already pulling up videos Sebastian hadn't known about. There was a scarce amount but he had no reason to internet stalk his boyfriend.
They were missing a lot of songs Sebastian knew he could kill but only because it had been down in private with the two of them while working on a car. Kurt would sometimes start humming or break out on a song at random. Kurt loved music and singing, Sebastian just enjoyed it a lot. Most of the boys at Dalton were similar, knowing once they finished with Dalton they'd either put it away as a fond memory or form more private or smaller ways to continue with it, but would not make it their sole focus.
It was sad how little there was with his boyfriend's incredible talent for viewing purposes. Mainly just the invitationals and a few aborted efforts from his club to try and get people to join and an assembly.
Wes was eying the video critically, he had one more year after this and that would be his legacy. He wanted to make the best team for his senior year. Right now it was David and Thad's ship to steer and he just offered a different view as the next generation. Next year another senior would sit with him on the panel that hadn't been on it this year (like Thad) and a new junior. There was always one veteran and two newer ones from each year, it kept it balanced and fresh. Wes had been the obvious choice for veteran.
"Which is his voice?" He had to ask as they played the few videos available. "This is the new team that we'll be facing off with VA isn't it?"
"Part of it, yes."
"She's quite strong." Wes' frown deepened as he watched Rachel hit note after note with power. "But she's quite alone in talent on that stage."
"How can you say that?" Nick cried pulling the phone to his chest and looking at Wes reproachfully. "Kurt's a doll and marvelous."
"I don't hear him." Wes countered. "There's not a strong male voice amongst the videos you've shown."
"Oh." Jeff understood the problem and pulled his phone out looking for something and then pushed it toward Wes. "That's Kurt." The clear, high notes hit their ears and Sebastian smiled in pleasure over hearing his boyfriend's voice, it was incredibly familiar and comforting. It didn't last nearly long enough.
"He can go a lot lower too." Sebastian pointed out as Wes started mouthing words, lips moving like a fish.
"A lot lower?"
"Oh yeah, a lot lower." Sebastian's lips twitched, Artie had been in that video during the assembly showcasing his lower register. "Probably the lowest of the group."
Wes made some more faces and then he shook his head. "Why haven't you convinced him to come join us?"
"He's happy where he is for now." Sebastian personally thought there was a bit of Stockholm's going on there and PTSD but he wouldn't push Kurt, only give suggestions. It had to be Kurt's idea and decision. If it weren't, there could be some resentment. He also wouldn't share those details with the others, it was Kurt's life to share, he just wanted them to know things weren't all good at his current school and to be a bit careful in what they said and did. "Which is why it's important we present the best possible front we can when he comes here on Wednesday."
"Wednesday?" Nick squealed excitedly and Jeff smiled broadly in excitement over that news.
"We'll be on our best behavior." David promised and glanced over at Thad who nodded reluctantly.
"Sure, best behavior." Wes waved off. "We'll make it so good that he can't wait to sign up to join us, even if he's a pube, we can't let him go."
"Please don't use that word." Nick sank into Jeff dramatically.
Wes rolled his eyes. "Yeah, sure, whatever, once you stop walking the dorm hallway naked."
"I can't help that I always forget my towel." Nick grumbled. "And I'm not going to get my clothes wet."
"You and Jeff share a dorm room and there's a shower in it. There's no need to walk the halls."
"Sure there is, only Sebastian and Blaine have towels. Jeff and I don't have any."
"I've volunteered to buy you some, I've gifted you several over the years." Wes pushed, Nick's excuses were hollow and all knew it. He just liked to hang out in the buff regardless of the activity and it was only by peer pressure he wore clothes in the dorm area. He reluctantly got dressed for classes and other ventures outside, only because he had to.
Nick shrugged. "And I always forget them at Sebastian's."
"Right, forget." Wes shook his head. "I would be suspicious there's another reason you visit Sebastian and Blaine in the nude if I didn't know far too clearly otherwise."
"It's just to rile Blaine up." Sebastian defended his own honor and the very tattered shreds he still owned but he'd been stitching it together in a patch quilt of some sort since he got clean and had been adding on new pieces since. Kurt had a hand in many of those threads and patches but he wasn't the whole thing, just a majority of it.
Thad smirked, leaning an elbow onto Sebastian's shoulder. "So it hasn't escaped my notice that you're bringing the boyfriend up while the roommate's away."
"Like I said, I wanted you guys to showcase the best of the place." Sebastian ignored the bait, knew what Thad was angling toward. "That's only accomplished one way."
"Hmm." David commented and Sebastian's eyes skipped over to him, wondering what he was going to say. "The fact of his existence is hidden from a few people, isn't it?"
"And I'd like for it to stay that way." Sebastian agreed. It wouldn't be too hard, Nick and Jeff were the gossipiest of the bunch and they'd been able to keep it underwraps.
Somehow Kurt squared it away with his dad and there hadn't been much resistance otherwise to Kurt leaving the vicinity his dad had drawn for acceptable distance. Kurt was getting older and his horizons were expanding. There was still the threat in the air about going to New York to see aunt Izzy but Sebastian and Kurt were toeing the line as much as they could.
He met Kurt at the gate and handed him a pass for his car. He'd claimed he was showing Kurt around as a potential student, which in a lot of ways was true, Kurt just didn't know it. He could have gotten a friend or family pass instead with the same results.
Sebastian caught the look of amazement in Kurt's eyes as they drove up to the parking lot that Kurt could park his car in. He'd barely greeted Sebastian as he drove in with Sebastian in the passenger seat. Sebastian didn't do anything to hinder that look or feeling. He didn't want Kurt to focus on him for the time being, he wanted Kurt to be enthralled with the place.
They both got out of the SUV and Kurt locked the doors distractedly and met Sebastian at the front of the vehicle. He flinched a little when Sebastian wrapped an arm around him but didn't pull away. He just wasn't sure what to expect. A few people glanced their way at the PDA but didn't even blink a lash at the hold and went back on their business. Some people looked at Sebastian in surprise because of his reputation but also did not say a single word against it, only smiled at Kurt, understanding the draw Kurt had on Sebastian if this was happening.
Kurt sagged into the embrace, feeling more at home nearly instantly. "Are we still in Ohio?" Kurt whispered to Sebastian who laughed and pressed his lips to Kurt's cheek.
"We most certainly are."
"Why do you ever leave?" Kurt asked, even more amazed than at the sheer scale and look of the school.
"To see you." Sebastian tightened his arm. "I won't have to leave if you were here though."
"I would, my family's in Lima." Kurt didn't instantly shut the idea of coming here down, that was definitely something in the right direction.
"Come on, I'll show you around and introduce you to my friends."
They walked in and Kurt instantly stilled. "Woah." He just stared at the grand marble staircase, loving the size and skill going into it. Sebastian felt his chest expanding, if Kurt was this impressed by the spiral staircase with the intricate stain-glass ceiling, he was going to love several other things about this place.
Sebastian showed him several of the highlights of the place, keeping a few in his pocket for the next visit if he needed to spend more time convincing him, show him more amazing things that a school could offer. He showed him this time the water fountain in the courtyard, the grounds that they used for their sports and other activities. Showed him where he practiced with his Lacrosse team. Although the grounds were a little lacking so early in the new year, he had Kurt agreeing to come see it in the spring when it was in it's glory
He showed him the choir room with the adequate number of chairs and not only that but also the variety and comfort level of them all and the council table and the library of sheet music they had to choose from. He mentioned their budget for obtaining more and Kurt's eyes nearly bugged out.
Sebastian hadn't felt a need to talk about school or much about it before, a little bit about his friends. They'd had plenty of other things to talk about and an agreement not to go into specifics with their Glee teams. Sebastian had been given permission to share more secrets in an attempt to sway Kurt. He just didn't want to be too obvious about it.
Then he brought him to the small common room that he'd prearranged with his friends to be in by the time they got there. It wasn't the main room but one for more private gatherings. It was still decorated for Christmas and the hearth made the room pleasantly warm, especially when they came in from the drafty hallways.
Kurt's breath caught in his throat at the sheer beauty of the decorations and carvings in the fireplace and the low slung couches that his friends were casually occupying and barely glanced at them so as not to overwhelm Kurt. They tossed him a few smiles of greeting but Nick and Jeff couldn't keep to the plan and Nick was leaping over the others to pull Kurt into a bear-hug. Jeff came over and wrapped his arms around both of them, practically pushing Sebastian to the side.
Sebastian found himself laughing again and ignored the odd look that Thad was sending his way as he took up the spot that Nick and Jeff just vacated. They were talking at Kurt a mile a minute and Kurt kept up with them, a broad smile on his lips too. He was far more comfortable with them now than he had been before and understood where they were coming from. He was more free to be himself with them now in all ways. Something he wasn't able to be with his own friends except for maybe Mercedes, especially when they spoke in French.
Eventually the boys stopped harassing Kurt and realized they had to share so they started unwrapping Kurt even as they walked him over to the couches. "This is Wes and David." They pointed out, even though it should have been Sebastian doing it. Sebastian didn't even stir to correct them. He wanted Kurt to get the full experience of his friends without having to play peacemaker, because he really didn't think he would have to with this group and Kurt.
"Geez, Sebastian, you didn't take Kurt to your room first?" Nick tsked while he took Kurt's coat from him. There were a few more layers underneath but he only added the coat to the pile with the scarf and hat and gloves they'd already taken off of Kurt. Kurt was aware of them doing it, but he let them without a fight or protest. It was too warm in here for all those layers and Sebastian had been walking around the grounds with him with only a thick Dalton sweater. His arm had been warmed by Kurt's body, but hadn't found it too cold outside just yet.
"If I had, we wouldn't have made it here." Sebastian reached out for Kurt but Nick had other plans, dragging Kurt to another couch and sitting down with him between him and Jeff. Sebastian rolled his eyes fondly and Thad's just widened even more.
Thad looked over to Wes and David and Sebastian found himself also looking that way, wanting to read their first impressions. So far, Kurt hadn't said much to the group, just the Niff.
"The strangely quiet lug over there is Thad." Jeff introduced.
"Hi." Kurt greeted politely, he hadn't been given much to go off of and in truth, Sebastian's friends knew more about him than he did about them, even with just the little they'd gotten on Monday. He had no idea what their personalities were like, if they'd be so forward and crazy as the Niff or more down to Earth like Sebastian. Wes and David were definitely more serious and less likely to bend rules than Sebastian. It was pretty clear from the start with them but they would definitely use the existing rules to their advantage. Sebastian knew this all too well.
He was just waiting for Thad's inappropriate remark. He kept waiting even as Wes and David started talking to Kurt. It was a pretty easy going conversation and didn't get too deep. It was an easy one to jump into and join too and Kurt was warming up to them and they were growing more and more fond of Kurt as they chatted.
"Well fuck." Thad ran a hand over his face and dropped back against the couch, interrupting the conversation and everyone's eyes turned toward him, waiting for the rest of the comment. They didn't have long to wait this time. "Pictures didn't do you justice. If I weren't straight-."
Sebastian shoved a pillow into Thad's face. "Ok, enough of that." He glanced over at Kurt to see his reaction and found him to be adorably pink and Sebastian moved the pillow to his lap this time, hoping that it wasn't that obvious what he was doing and why.
"Damn." Thad whistled but didn't expand on it.
To get closer to Sebastian at this point would mean getting closer to Thad and so Kurt stayed just where he was. He had allies in the Niff though and so felt comfortable enough to stay. In fact, he found his sass and looked over Thad with thoughtful eyes. "If you were gay,..." He drawled out. "Well, I don't venture often into what-if land, so we'll never know."
Thad groaned and looked over to Sebastian. "I see it."
Sebastian was nodding along, that was pretty brazen for Kurt outside of it being just the two of them. It was hot to see him take control of his sexuality like that and toss it right back at someone. He didn't move any closer though, keeping that distance between them as the only way he could muster the nerve. It was definitely a start and he'd done it all on his own.
Despite the start, Kurt and Thad got along well. They tossed good-natured barbs at each other and Sebastian slipped into the conversation too. Eventually, Sebastian was sure that he wasn't going to have to live anything down and he was going to move over to Kurt, pushing the Niff out of the way when Kurt somehow managed to make it look graceful and easy and nobody even noticed he moved until he was sitting at Sebastian's side. His fingers were interlaced with Sebastian's and their arms were pressing up against each other. Sebastian pressed a kiss to Kurt's shoulder, this is exactly where he'd wanted to be. Kurt had the same desires and made it happen. He didn't lose the thread of the conversation with the others though and despite the move, didn't appear like he was pulling away from them, moving closer in some ways.
He and Sebastian still shared a lot of looks and tender touches but in the quiet moments or without missing a beat with the others.
"Ok, enough already, geez, we get it, you're in love." Thad grumbled just as they were getting up and Kurt offered Sebastian his hand to help him to his feet. "You're adorable, stop it."
Sebastian kept his hand in Kurt's. "Thanks Thad, I needed that confidence booster." He puffed up his chest in mock peacocking and Thad elbowed him in the stomach, knocking the wind out of his lungs.
"Yeah, I was talking to Kurt." Thad teased.
Kurt lifted a brow. "I'm not adorable, I'm downright sinfully gorgeous but never 'adorable'."
"Oh my, you're sooo adorable." Nick reached out and squeezed Kurt's cheek. "I don't think that'll ever change even if you grew a beard. Just everything about you is just so cute. We need a chibi version of you."
"The two of you together is adorable too." Wes added with a bit of a fond smile. Sebastian wasn't expecting that out of the other guy, he attempted for stoicism but often failed and dissolved into shouting for order. His stamp of approval was unexpected and touching.
Kurt shook his head, clearly not taking anything they said too seriously. They were all teenagers afterall, they were all nuts but that was the fun in it.
It was a shame he couldn't keep Kurt for the entire week. Dinner was fun and while people knew of Sebastian and had an idea of his life, they didn't get too close. They were however well aware that Sebastian didn't bring male guests to public spaces and definitely wasn't so touchy-feely with them. They wouldn't share with Blaine though. He was starting to feel a little less confident in having Kurt here though, while most wouldn't go straight up to Blaine and tell him about the hot gossip, he could still over hear them talk about Sebastian bringing in a guy.
Kurt snuggled into his side totally comfortable and relaxed and Sebastian wanted this to last, wanted Kurt to feel this comfortable all the time. Sebastian had the comfort of knowing he could do what he wished whenever he wanted to with very little in way of consequences. Sebastian pressed a kiss to Kurt's cheek and used his other hand to eat. Whatever Blaine overhead, he could always spin it. He focused on that fact and slowly relaxed with all the eyes on them. They weren't judging, just curious eyes and none of them were malicious. Spreading too much gossip would be considered bullying and they wouldn't cross that line.
Kurt tipped his head back to say something to Sebastian but Sebastian took that as an invitation for a kiss and Kurt smiled into it. When Sebastian pulled back, he waited for Kurt to say what he was planning to but Kurt shook his head, losing that thread with the distraction of Sebastian's mouth on his. Sebastian chuckled and tightened his arm around Kurt.
Thad was just staring again. David had to nudge him to remind him to continue eating. Kurt thankfully wasn't fazed by Thad's odd behavior.
Kurt's coat and other outerwear was folded neatly and put in Sebastian's school bag. It had plenty of room in there, as it could have held several books but instead just his tablet. He'd keep it in there until the morning when Kurt had to leave again.
"I wish we could show you a proper Dalton day." Wes bemoaned when all their plates were cleared and they were back in their more private room with warm drinks in hand and books and tables out on the tables. "Have you shadow our classes and then have you attend a Warbler practice."
Kurt took out his phone and sent his dad a message. It didn't take any time at all before Burt responded. Kurt frowned at the message and then looked over to Sebastian suspiciously. "What did you do?"
"Me?" Sebastian was surprised by the light accusation. "Nothing? Why?"
"Oh, just that my dad is practically shoving me into a tour tomorrow." Kurt showed Sebastian his phone and Sebastian's heart soured. Burt was very pro Dalton.
"We've talked about Dalton before, the pros and cons of coming here." Sebastian shrugged, playing it safe. "We even talked about it as an alternative if the bullying got worse, but he was hesitant to send you here and things got better so we dropped it."
"Oh, Burt asked us about Dalton too." Nick announced brazenly. "We had nothing but positives to tell him. We even offered to spot your tuition if need be."
"I really wish you hadn't done that." Kurt ran a hand over his face. "He's been pushing private schools for awhile."
"Do you not like it here?" Jeff looked hurt at the idea and Sebastian internally snickered at Jeff pulling out the doe eyes. He wasn't too different from Nick in some ways.
"It's very nice here." Kurt admitted. "If I had to go to a private school it is definitely the top of my list."
"Do you want to go to another public school?" Thad asked as if the words themselves were vile, he'd made the same face when he accidentally got deodorant in his mouth last week.
"No, I just want to stay at my school. There's already so much changing- Carole and dad just got engaged and-"
"No!" Nick interrupted with a fierce denial and Jeff was shaking his head, also clearly upset by what Kurt just said.
"You have a problem with Carole?" Kurt frowned at the Niff, he'd thought they'd gotten along.
"Carole's great." Jeff said.
"Yeah, Carole's great." Nick agreed. "It's her oversized lumberjack son that's the problem."
"Yeah, the blue ox is going to be your stepbrother if they get married, did you think about that?" Jeff added.
"Oh, Paul Bunyun, I'd never thought about that one." Sebastian was amused at the imagery, that fit surprisingly well, but he'd never agree to calling Finn, Babe.
"He's not that bad." Kurt defending, shifting a bit awkwardly at all the eyes staring at him.
"He's the worst! He basically called us wrong to our faces about 8x in the span of that hospital visit. He hasn't been overly inviting since."
"You've only seen him in passing. He's gotten better." Kurt defended his friend and looked to Sebastian but Sebastian only shook his head. He wouldn't help Kurt, he agreed with the Niff on this point.
"He doesn't even know the truth about us. He is going to have a tantrum when he finds out." Sebastian said gently.
"He's had a lot going on recently." Kurt said. "And I think he's changed enough that he won't."
"I'm not going to take any bets and I think we should hold off until there's at least a separator between us and him." Sebastian had waffled on telling Finn but this was the most recent thing he'd settled on. With the way things were going for Finn, it'd likely be soon enough and a plexiglass keeping him at bay for at least 5 to 10.
"Maybe have Trent and Thad there just to appear like we have muscle on our side too." Nick agreed and Jeff nodded along with his words.
"He's going to be my stepbrother, it's going to be fine, you don't have to deal with him. He's already been living at my house since-" He cut off, he hadn't told them about the gay slurs and dumpster injury that had set everything into motion, he'd been pretty vague about it all. "Since we discovered the heart issue."
There were some shared glances between a few of them, they knew a bit more than Kurt suspected but they didn't tell him that. Their looks might have given it away anyway. "Yeah but now it'll be official and a lot harder to untangle." Jeff said.
"If nothing else, I'll be 18 soon enough and moving to New York. Our lives will split into different directions then." Kurt waved it off, he really wasn't worried and it was just agitating him to continue talking about it.
They wisely let it drop rather than push him too far and have him leave. Sebastian would be furious if that happened and they wanted Kurt to like the place and them. They also wanted to stay on Sebastian's good side.
Sebastian laid his head on Kurt's shoulder and yawned a little. "I'm bored."
"You always are." Wes joked.
"Not always." Sebastian's fingers intertwined with Kurt's. "It just depends on the company and conversation and talk about Finn is boring."
The conversation shifted away from Finn but onto other McKinley High students and dramas and Kurt tried to keep it from getting too detailed or personal. He wasn't going to spread around their personal lives to others. He kept his juiciest gossip to only celebrities and people he had no chance of interacting with at the school.
Soon talk drifted and they all said goodnight and headed for their respective dorm rooms, Kurt trailing along behind Sebastian. "So I'll take your roommates bunk-." Kurt started out his tease but he didn't even get to finish it before he was on his back and Sebastian's mouth was stopping him from being able to say anything else.
"Take it back." Sebastian's lips trailed down to Kurt's throat. "Tell me where you'll be sleeping."
"Probably under you if we don't change positions." Kurt slipped his hands underneath Sebastian's white shirt. "You're so sexy in this. You're always so sexy in anything, everything and nothing."
Sebastian groaned and his mouth settled over Kurt's again. It was only when he moved to Kurt's ear that he could hear him again. "Under is good, so very good."
Needless to say, but Kurt did not end up spending the night in Blaine's bed.
–
He had breakfast with the guys, then went with Sebastian to all of his classes. By lunch time, he couldn't help but stare at his boyfriend. "What?" Sebastian finally asked when he finally became self-conscious of it. There was still a bit of a teasing lilt to his tone though.
"Your classes are so incredibly boring." They were so dry and above most people's heads, some of the theories and discussions were something he was familiar with but he was a bit out of his depth too, having not done the reading. The boys in those classes spoke as if they knew the whole topic in and out and were just having fun debating different points of views on the matter.
"Ooh, come with us this afternoon then, instead!" Jeff and Nick said in unision and if Kurt hadn't gotten used to them, he'd have found it really creepy. It was still odd but he just rolled with it.
"What are your classes?" Kurt was a little afraid to ask.
They listed off a bunch, most of which he couldn't attend today as they already passed or were tomorrow's course load. They were just more than happy to give him an overview of the 'fun' classes they participated in. They still didn't sound that great.
Sebastian looked put out and Kurt squeezed his hand and bent forward to say it to him as directly as possible. "They're hard and important but just not for me."
"Please, you're a genius, you'd be running circles around them."
"Maybe, with some prep but again, not my taste." Kurt squeezed his hand again. "You sounded great in there though and you enjoyed them, that's all that really matters."
"It just means that you probably won't go to my classes if you were to come here, we'd still be separated most of the day."
"I would probably be in the remedial courses trying to catch up." Kurt rolled his eyes. "And we'd still beon the same campus. Not that I'm attending Dalton. I'm happy where I am." Though he could freely admit that the Niff's classes were a lot more fun than he'd been anticipating and more fun than what he was currently taking in a lot of ways. He didn't know private schools allowed classes like that, and he was attempted to look further into it.
He begged off though when it was time for Glee practice, he was already fending calls and texts all day and they got worse today because he wasn't actually at his own school. His dad had called him in sick but they weren't buying it. "I better go." He pocketed his phone and pecked a kiss onto Sebastian's cheek.
"You don't want to stay for Glee Practice? See how it goes here?" Wes was surprisingly the one asking, still attempting to sway Kurt into coming to their school.
"No, I best not, don't want an unfair advantage although it does seem fun." Kurt hugged everyone who came to see him out and pressed another kiss against Sebastian's mouth this time. "See you tomorrow?" He checked and Sebastian nodded and let him go with just another short kiss.
