Once arriving back at the Hyperion Hotel, Willow and Giles began preparing the spell to deactivate the Slayers and a second one, for when Angel's group returned with the Essence Prism. The wording had to be exact, because they didn't want to also deactivate Buffy and Faith's powers. While they were waiting, Buffy and Faith were talking.
"So you said, Xander said, you own a piece of his heart. Does that mean, he's in love with you?" Buffy asked, curious.
"It means we could have had a chance at love if we'd gone after it. I was thinking about it, back then. I liked him, a lot. But than things went bad real fast and we lost our chance. I'm pretty sure, he and Queenie are going to give it another go, now that they know Jasmine manipulated them apart. But he did tell me, that whitelighters are allowed to see their past lives. In most of them, he and C are together. But there were some, where he and I are together. That we loved each other. Fiercely, he said. Given a chance, I hope to have something like that with someone in this lifetime."
"Oh, I didn't realize you had feelings for him. When Willow and I found out, you guys had sex, I told him, guys were a joke to you. I thought it would help him move on. I'm sorry."
"I'd like to be mad at you and if things hadn't gone bad I probably would be, but you were just trying to look out for hm. It's okay."
Just then Wesley stumbled in, alone.
He told them of being attacked by the Bringers. About Angel and Gunn staying to fight while he brought back the Essence Prism. And how he didn't know if they were still alive.
Unfortunately, there wasn't time to wonder. The deactivation of the Slayers and the recombining of the Essence back into Faith had to be done. They were successful in doing both.
When Angel arrived back a few days later and told them of Gunn's death, they mourned for him, for a friend who sacrificed himself to save strangers.
Charles Gunn looked around. Wasn't he just in a fight with those creepy little Bringers? Weird ass things with no eyes.
"Hey Gunn, nice to see you again." He turned around to see Harris and Cordelia standing there, grinning at him.
"Welcome to the ranks of the whitelighters."
