Chapter 2:
Entrance into beacon

The only thing that could be heard was the sound of clockwork as a lone man stood in his office. The man looked out of his office through the big glass pane on what seemed to be school grounds. He looked down at the scroll in his hand, watching footage of Rin and Kuro standing in the middle of a circle of azure flames. He looked on with interest as the longer he watched, the more he noticed that the fire didn't seem to be burning the area around them. After sipping his coffee, his cane resting against his desk, he spoke, "This is going to be an interesting year, it seems." He turned around, hearing the sound of the elevator stopping at his floor.

As the elevator doors opened, Rin noticed how eccentric the room looked with all the gears he heard in full view. He and Kuro looked around curiously as they walked out into the office, with Rin gripping the kurikara tighter, thinking, "Maybe he won't be as bad as Mephisto." He turned his head to look at the man, and what he noticed the man seemed to be on the older side with a full head of grey hair, wearing a mostly black suit with a dark green button-up shirt and a lighter green scarf with a cross in the front. "I believe this is the one you told me about?" the man spoke, breaking the silence. Glynda sighs, pushing up her glasses before speaking up, "Yes, Ozpin. This boy is the one that my drones caught making such a commotion in the forest earlier."

Ozpin smiles before pulling his chair out from his desk and sitting down, looking at the boy with the twin-tailed cat on his shoulder. "And who are you, young man?" Ozpins asks questioningly, watching the boy tense up. "Rin, Rin Okumura, Sir." Rin answers, reaching up and petting Kuro. "Do you know where you are, Rin?" Ozpin asks, the smile never fading. Rin looks at him, confused, and answers with a question of his own "Some sort of clock tower?" Behind him, Glynda pinches the bridge of her nose, getting increasingly annoyed.

Ozpin simply chuckles. "You are somewhat correct, but you are at Beacon Academy, and I am its headmaster. You may refer to me as Professor Ozpin." Rin nods while looking around, half bored and half nervous. "So, am I in trouble? Was I on the part of your school grounds or something?" asked while looking back to Opzin, waiting for any kind of confirmation. "Not really, no, but the woods you were in are dangerous for those who are not prepared, as it is a place where Grimm tend to gather in droves." Rin then looks confused at the mention of Grimm. "Grimm? Those weird-looking demons?" the one that answered him came from behind as Glydna walked up to stand beside the desk. "Yes, those 'Weird looking demons, ' as you put it, are known as Grimm. The Grimm are creatures of darkness that appear black in coloration but are adorned with bone-like armor." Rin, while still slightly confused, nods. "So, Rin, I must ask you something. How can you control these flames as well as you do, and why is it that your hair is now a different color than when we first discovered you?" Ozpin and Glynda immediately noticed how tense Rin seemed to become, how Kuro hopped off his shoulder, taking a defensive posture, and how he seemed to grow a bit bigger as if he was ready to pounce.

Ozpin immediately raises a hand in a defensive posture. "Do not be alarmed. You are not in any danger, nor are you in trouble. We merely wish to know as it is uncommon that such a thing can occur." Rin and Kuro seemed to relax but were still tense, and Glydna appeared to release a breath she didn't realize she was holding in. Rin opened his mouth to say something but was cut off by Ozpin. "Before anything else, we captured footage of you falling through some kind of gate." Glynda then taps a few times on her scroll before a hologram of the footage appears at the top of the desk, and true to Ozpins words, a gate striking an extreme resemblance to the Gehenna Gate appears in the clearing of forever falls with some key differences such as the fact that the grotesque eyes and skulls were no longer present and instead what appeared to clocks was adorned on the four corners of the door with the doorway seemingly holding all of space inside. Ten minutes later, Rin and Kuro were thrown out onto the ground; the only thing on his mind was one word, "Mephisto…" Rin hadn't realized, but his hand was clenched hard into a fist with an outline of his brilliant blue flames surrounding him.

"So I'm going to ask again. How can you control your flames? How were you able to change your hair color? And one more, what is that portal you fell out of." Ozpin asks, grabbing his cane. Rin and Kuro looked defeated and tired as their eyes were still locked onto the hologram and were broken out of their trance as Glynda tapped on her scroll, making the hologram disappear. "I…." Rin started to speak but immediately trailed off as exhaustion seemed to catch up to him. As he felt his eyelids begin to close on him and tried as he might, he failed to stop unconsciousness from claiming him. Glynda immediately caught him using her semblance, with Kuro running up to his unconscious form, worried.

6 hours later

Rin starts to wake up slowly, straining his eyes before opening them just to close them quickly, trying to adjust his eyes to the bright light. When he could finally fully open his eyes, he immediately heard Kuro yell, "Rin! You're awake!" Kuro started nudging his head against Rin, meowing happily all the while. The noise caught the ears of a passing nurse who entered the room. "Good to see you awake, Mr. Okurma. I shall notify Professor Ozpin so you may continue your conversation from last night." Rin now sat up and nodded before looking at Kuro. "What happened, Kuro? The last thing I remember is talking to some old dude and then waking up here." Kuro sat in his lap and looked up to him. "After he showed us a video of us getting dropped into that weird forest, you suddenly passed out." Rin then scoffed, finally remembering what happened. "That's right, and it looked like something Mephisto pulled out of his ass."

After a few minutes passed by, Rin looked at the door opening and watched as Ozpin and Glynda in tow walked into the room. "It's good to see you up, Mr. Okumura. You gave us quite the fright passing out on us like that. Good to know it was just over exhaustion." Rin nodded at Ozpin. "To answer your question, Oz. I know who created that weird gate portal, but as to what it is, I can only guess it was some kind of time-space type of thing." Ozpin raised a brow, then asked, "And what makes you come to that conclusion?" As Ozpin started to listen to the young man's story, he suddenly had a cup of coffee in his hand, which caused Rin to pause slightly to internally question it for a second before continuing. "Then, after the fight I had with Yukio, I felt a sudden tugging feeling below me, and before I knew it, Kuro was trying to get to me. Then out of nowhere, we were both being dragged through it."

After taking a few minutes to allow the information to sink in, Ozpin spoke, "That's quite the tale you have there, but after seeing getting dropped out of that portal last night and the fact that your cat has two tails, I don't have a choice but to accept it as fact." Glynda sputtered at that, "Ozpin, you don't seriously believe all that, do you?" Ozpin then nodded " What else is there to believe? Now to the other questions. Your fire and hair." Rin sighed at that and scratched the back of his head. "This one may be harder to believe, but back in my world, I am known as the son of Satan. I can control my flames because of that, and my hair also has to do with the fact that I'm Satan's son."

Ozpin quirked up at that and decided to ask, "How so?" Rin sighed again, then looked over at him. "My mom was a human while my dad was, well, a demon. Father Fujimoto, who I consider my actual father, decided to seal my demonic heart into Kurikara and try to raise me to be a human. It worked for the most part, except for my temper and my unusual strength." Rin pauses a moment, then continues, "After a recent event, the blade of Kurikara broke, releasing my demonic side. At first, I couldn't control it, but I was soon able to. When the Kurikara was returned to me, It was just the scabbard and hilt, but when I use the scabbard as a gate to Gehenna and the handle as a door. I'm able to push my demonic side back."

Ozpin smiles and glances at Glynda, who scowls in return, already knowing what he's thinking. "We will need to work out some details about everything, mostly about your powers and your 'familiar,' was it?" Rin nods looking at the both of them curiously, asking, "What is it?" Ozpin sips his coffee, getting another confused look from Rin, wondering if that cup ever got empty. "How would you like to join Beacon Academy? From what you tell me, your 'special' classes at this True Cross Academy are similar to what we do in our hunter academies." Rin thinks about it for a second, looking at Kuro, who looks back at him expectantly, making Rin smile. Looking back at Ozpin, he gives him a nod. "Sure, why not. Pretty sure I ain't going anywhere anytime soon."
