Chapter 8
Close for Discomfort
Several Hours before Wendy and Dipper in Hooper Mine
In the Gravity Falls Log Jerky Factory there are several giant winged creatures standing upright, one group is chomping on some meat while another has what are big strips of meat in their hands and once, they step underneath the window, they then fly off. They are flying in the sky and as they are at a distance away two people in a 1980's Jeep with the covers on, they are watching the radar which is displaying the map of the falls. Dipper says, "Alright, Rose's invisible strobe sent is working, their leaving a bread crumb trail for us." Wendy then turns on her Jeep and then they drive off. Dipper keeps his eye on the radar and is constantly guiding Wendy on the turns they make. Soon the trail then comes near Sherwood Forest land which leads toward the Hooper mountains just a mile away. Both Dipper and Wendy they get out of the car and they both have their backpacks and are both hiking but also trying to stay in the cover of the woods and plant life as both hear in the sky several roars and growls, both get some chills hearing them and then they both come near the area.
Wendy and Dipper come closer and then both hide in a bush. As they do Wendy, she takes out binoculars in Night Vison mode and Dipper with a camera on Night Vision mode. They both see there are four of the Van Meter monsters beating their wings. They come down on the ground and they see four of them standing upright on their legs and with their black eyes gleaming along with the white horn that is glowing and finding their way to the cave. There is a loud roar that rings throughout the forest and the cave channel. Both Dipper and Wendy are startled by the sound and put down their binoculars and camera.
Both breathe a sigh of relief and then Dipper says, "Well now we know where they are."
Wendy says, "So, what now?"
"Now we wait for Adam, Mabel and the rest to get the equipment we need to seal the cave."
"Man, it's too bad we couldn't once go into that lair and see what's there."
"Dipper he raises an eyebrow.
Wendy says, "Yeah, Yeah, I know too dangerous."
"Well, I know you and danger are really close sometimes, but that's part of why I really like you."
Wendy has a small smirk and says, "You have strange tastes Dip."
"I know."
Dipper he then looks at his phone and he see the radar and there are what look like multiple blips that are coming close to where they are. Wendy sees a look on Dipper which she knows is fright which means trouble. Suddenly both hear a slight roar, and they look up and they both get lifted as they both see the ground it is getting slowly more distant, and they see they are both moving toward the top of the Hooper mines. Both are instinctively trying to hold on tight but also struggling a little as they both feel the hard iron grip the Van Meters are putting on them. They both then see there is an opening from the top of the mine, and they are both slowly coming toward it as it is getting bigger and bigger until both are inside the darkness.
Present time: Wendy she is playing a little with the airliner hat and then Dipper comes out of the dressing room and then Wendy sees Dipper as he is in a black leather jacket with black leather paints and Wendy sees he has a cap on but it's a white biker cap with a black visor.
Wendy says, "I picked that out because, I knew that you've recently been watching a few old films and took interest."
Dipper says, "Actually it was Adam that got me to watch them, the film "The Wild One".
"Yeah, I've seen that film with you, you told me how much you loved that outfit."
"Not for any reason, I just thought it looked cool, but just has that rebellious aura about it.
Dipper looks at Wendy and says, "Um, you don't think I look ridiculous in this do you."
Wendy then walks to him slowly and a bit seductively. Dipper looks down as he hears some small taps on the floor and realizes Wendy is wearing blue high heels. He is a little surprised as she normally wouldn't see her in those shoes or even walk in them. He is focused on the high heels so much he forgot. Wendy is close to him until Wendy puts her hand on his chin with her two fingers and raises his head up a little bit.
Wendy says in a soft voice, "I don't think you look ridiculous at all, in fact it kind of brings out the real you."
Dipper he has a smile on his face and then he says, "You really look beautiful in that; especially in those high heels, never seen you walk in them.
Both Dipper and Wendy's lips start to come closer but then suddenly they hear some sort of rustling downstairs and crash inside the building.
Dipper and Wendy immediately run someplace as they get behind the clerk counter and Wendy, she takes her Viking axe out and the reflection of it shows there is a dark figure that has some wings and a white horn that is glowing. The creature with its black, pearl eyes is constantly looking, its teeth are barred and there is a little drool coming from her mouth. The creature catches a glint on the corner of its right eye. It then looks toward Wendy direction, Wendy quickly puts her axe away, unsure whether the Van Meter monster saw him or not.
Wendy and Dipper are thinking about what to do as both know they can't stay where they are forever. Dipper then leans toward Wendy and then whispers in her ear. Wendy then looks at him and then she just in slight reluctance nods and it's the same with Dipper. Both crawl in opposite directions while the Van Meters are patrolling and searching out the department store for the foreign presences they detected.
One of the Van Meter monsters is in the toy section and the creature is looking at all the different toys and then just slashes most of the toys out of frustration and just no reason whatsoever. As there are a lot of broken toys on the ground it advances more from its position and then suddenly hits a tripwire. The Van Meter he's confused by what it just walked through, the line it walked through it, it only confused more as it sees a few more boxed toys of "Matchbox" cars fall over to the ground and then it looks down at them with confusion, it then tilts its head down a little more then suddenly the blade of the Viking Axe descends down and it cuts the Van Meters head in half.
There is big lining gash in the middle of the Van Meter's head and there is neon purple blood that shoots out upward, back and forth and as the Van Meter staggers from its half-cut head it paints both the shelves. The Van Meter then drops down to the ground like a cut down log, Wendy then comes toward it and then takes out her Viking axe that was still lodged in the gash.
Suddenly there is another Van Meter that walks to the isle she's at and sees its comrade beside her on the ground dead making a neon purple blood puddle from its half-cut skull still spouting out the neon purple blood. The Van Meter then growls at Wendy and bends its knees ready to attack. Wendy then just puts one foot forward and holding the Viking axe two handed just throws it and the axe is thrown and files in midair in a circular motion and the axe then connects its blade right in between the face of the Van Meter, right between the eyes and cuts the white horn in half.
The Van Meter then drops down flat as a board. Meanwhile there is another place in the department store, the housewares section where there are rows of vacuum cleaners on a big carpet area. The three Van meters they are looking around and there is another tripwire and there are a few vacuum cleaners that turn on and are moving on their own on the carpet their on. Two of the Van Meters fly toward the moving Vacs and are ripping and destroying them. The third one in one place is destroying a vac but then someone comes out and has a vacuum in their hand which is a bulky circular portable which has a long white big hose attached and a nozzle at the end attached.
Dipper points to the nozzle of the vacuum and then he flips the switch on revers and then suddenly there is what looks like a spray of turquoise paint which hits and covers the Van Meter monster. The Van Meter monster is rolling in pain from the pain that's covered its body and eyes. Dipper then discards the vacuum cleaner and makes a run for it along with Wendy where they're at.
Both Dipper and Wendy they both go to the electronics section and then they start turning on the radios and as they do, they only produce static, but they also put on a record from a huge tabletop and it plays the old son form Lou Christie "Lighting Strikes." The Van Meters once again are confused by this and pursue the source of the noise while Dipper and Wendy run and are coming out to the exit of the store running toward the car. Suddenly they both hear some sort of big crash that is coming from the outside.
Flashback: Several days before Halloween and Dipper and Wendy in the Hooper mines.
At the Mystery Shack, both Dipper and Wendy are standing up, both studding the script packets in their hands and rehearsing the content.
Wendy looks at her copy of the script and then looks at Dipper and says, "Mind if I recite some of the lines."
"Huh, oh yeah showtime will be two days from now."
Dipper looks and pays attention to Wendy's performance.
Wendy clears her throat and then takes a breath, looks at Dipper and then says, "Look at the fools Chernobyl, first their minds will crack and turn to putty, then the next step will be to make the Country Canada crack with this movie and then many other countries will follow suit."
Chernobyl says, "Um, your royal destructiveness, why not have it be the entire world instead of just one country at a time?"
Wendy looks at Dipper and says, "Who ordered you to think big in my presence."
"What, oh no I'm sorry boss I."
"I think it's time for you to learn your place again."
She then points to a room and then Dipper speaking out Chernobyl's lines, "No, no anything but that."
Wendy looks at him with a sinister look and says, "Yes, that you will watch the entire third season of "Lost"
"No anything but that, that season sucks so much."
"Move it or lose it."
Dipper looks at script and reads off, "Chernobyl in a state of sadness, then goes into the movie box torture room."
Wendy then looks in another direction pretending she's facing the camera.
Wendy says, "I'm sorry folks but sometimes evil is necessary in things like this, it builds character or in Chernobyl's case a grain of sand, ahem well be right back."
Both Dipper and Wendy then put down the scripts and Wendy says, "Never though I'd ever play the villainess."
Dipper says, "I wouldn't feel bad as your actually doing a good job, besides…"
Dipper comes near to her and Wendy notices this and is a little surprised and Dipper says, "IN most shows I've always been attracted to the bad girls, sometimes the bader the more attractive.
"Dipper along with Wendy suddenly realize how physically close they are to each other; they also realize they've never been this physically close before."
Both then shake their heads and then Wendy says in a slightly excited and nervous tone. "Um, same time tomorrow."
Dipper then shakes his head and says, "Oh, yeah yeah and I'll remember to have some snacks out to."
"Yeah….ok bye."
Wendy gathers her things and puts them in her backpack. She then walks out of the Mystery Shack and she is walking rather faster than normal and then she then stops and then takes a breath. After she does she then puts her right hand on her heart and can feel fast beats before calming down a little. Wendy then takes another breath and realizes despite having this feeling many times, it was different with Dipper around as her heart never beat that many times for anyone outside of him.
