Sea Of Monsters Chapter 18:

The End Of A Long Voyage

Everyone present barring Medea Lily watched in horror as Forneus writhed around the Argo, screeching loudly. It didn't take long for the Demon God Pillar to fire beams wildly around with reckless abandon. Mashu managed to block the beams aimed at the Golden Hind with her Noble Phantasm, while Medea conjured magical barriers to protect the others from the beams.

Galatea was too slow, however, and was hit by one of the beams. The pale Berserker was sent flying down towards the sea, only to be caught by David before she could hit the water. The pale Berserker then noted that they were on another ship, being driven by Artemis with Atalante readying her arrows.

"Weren't you guys in the treelines?" Galatea asked.

"We were." Artemis said. "But the moment that thing showed itself we had to act quickly."

"Hrmmmm, you're not as heavy as I expected." David said. "I guess this is my first time catching stones rather than throwing them."

"David, it's awful to talk about a woman's weight!" Anne shouted from her ship.

As that was happening, Medea glared at her younger self as she continued to hold the Grail with an innocent smile. That smile continued to persist as she brought the Grail closer to her body, and plunged it into her stomach, making everyone recoil in disgust.

"There we go." Medea Lily said. "I get a power boost, and protect Lord Jason at the same time!"

Medea looked at the Masters calmly. "Let me handle her."

"Don't let us stop you." Tatsuko said. "Go all out!"

Medea nodded and looked at Ritsuka, who merely smiled at her. "Give her hell, Medea. I know you got this!"

Medea smiled and flew at her younger self to attack. Medea Lily saw this and flew up into the air, forcing the Chaldean Caster to follow her up into the sky before both shot at each other with lighting and ice. Medea Lily shot a beam of magic at Medea, but the older Caster deflected it with a magical barrier before shooting her own beam at her younger self. Medea Lily dodged the beam and shot four more at the Chaldean Servant, but the blue haired woman expertly dodged the beams, and took note of their intensity. Thanks to the Grail, Medea Lily's beams and Magical Energy were much greater than hers. Medea could only smirk, however. Even with Medea Lily having the advantage, she still doesn't hold a candle to what she can do.

With a quick chant, Medea shot a magical blast of fire and lightning combined into one attack. The blast hit the younger Caster right into the back, severely wounding her, but the Grail managed to heal her just as quickly. Medea did not make any sort of reaction, and calmly observed the healing process. While she expected her to be healing from the injuries, she didn't expect it to be that quick.

"You should have already known I was the better healer." Medea Lily said. "But with this Grail, I am even better than before!"

"And a better liar than I give you credit for." Medea replied.

"I have no idea what you're talking about." Medea Lily lied as naturally as she breathed. Medea blasted Medea Lily in annoyance, causing the younger Caster to grunt in pain.

"Don't play coy." Medea said. "I know what would happen if you guys sacrificed Stheno and Euryale to the Ark. If they were sacrificed, it would destroy the entire world."

Medea Lily pouted. "So you figured it out…."

"David explained it to us." Medea replied. "Since this world is unstable, using the Ark to sacrifice them would just destroy everything. But that isn't what Jason would have wanted, as he would have wanted a world where everyone was content, and no war would be waged."

"I'm surprised you would even remember that." Medea Lily retorted. "However, we both know that dream could never happen."

"Of course it wouldn't." Medea said. "Him? An ideal king? His soul was too hopelessly twisted for that to happen."

Medea Lily shot another beam of magic at Medea. The older Caster was forced to fly low and attack again. The Chaldean Servant blasted Medea Lily again with a magic bolt, but Medea Lily managed to dodge the blast, only to get hit in the chest with a quicker incantation.

"And you knew this. You tricked him into trying to do this." Medea said. "You lied to him this entire time, even if it wasn't directly."

"Oh, so you're innocent of any wrongdoing?" Medea Lily asked. The younger Caster blasted a magic bolt at her older counterpart, forcing Medea to dodge. "After everything you've done? I don't even want to hear it! I bet you've been lying to your Masters the entire time. All you do is scheme and plot, not caring who gets hurt!"

"That's where you're wrong." Medea countered as she shot a blast of ice and thunder at Medea Lily. "Not once did I lie to them. I've been completely upfront with them."

Medea Lily flew away from the blasts and hit Medea square in the chest with a magic beam. "Now who's the liar?"

Medea chortled deviously. "What's wrong, little girl? Did I say something you didn't like?"

Medea Lily scowled in annoyance. "Now you're the one playing coy!"

"Am I now?" Medea asked. The Chaldean Caster shot another bolt of magic at Meda Lily while her guard was down, hitting her arm. The Grail healed the injury quickly, but it allowed Medea to study the speed of each heal. "Sounds like someone is in denial."

Medea Lily's eyes widened in anger. "I am not!"

The young Caster shot another beam at Medea, but the older Caster simply rolled away before shooting a blast of fire and lightning at her younger self. Medea Lily erected a magical barrier quickly to stop the blast, but the impact was enough to push her back.

"Oh but you are." Medea said. "You think that I am incapable of changing. That it is our past that defines us."

Medea Lily shot multiple beams of magic at her older counterpart, but the Chaldean Servant erected multiple barriers to block them from hitting her. The barriers shattered from the sheer power of the beams, but they did their job in preventing any of them from hitting her.

"But you are wrong." Medea continued. "I AM capable of changing. You know that better than anyone else."

"Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!" Medea Lily shouted. "You're just saying these things to get under my skin! You're nothing but a witch who betrays people!"

"You're right about that." Medea said. "I did betray people. I made plots, schemes and hurt others to get to where I am now."

Medea Lily raised an eyebrow as her older self raised her staff into the air and grinned back at her. The young Caster readied herself as her older counterpart charged her attack.

"But that is not all I am." Medea said. "I am Medea, a proud Servant of Chaldea!"

As that was happening, the battle against Forneus raged on. The battle was effectively a stalemate with neither side being able to make any progress. The Demon God Pillar would be healed faster than they could damage it, but the Chaldeans and their allies were able to keep away from its beam attacks by fighting at range. While Ushiwakamaru could not fight in her usual way, she still participated by loading and firing as many cannons from the Golden Hind with the help of the crewmembers. However, Galatea was forced to sit the battle out, and opted to steer the ship holding her and the three Archers to keep them from getting hit. Alexander continued to fire lightning at the Pillar while Anne shot her musket and Mary threw her bombs at it. Mashu continued to defend the Hind with her Shield and Noble Phantasm while Euryale and Stheno covered her with their attacks.

They were an army trying to surmount a force of nature, in effect. Drake ordered Ushiwakamaru to target particular surfaces on Forneus, probing the Demon Pillar for any sort of weakness. The ruby-red eye was the obvious one, but any injury inflicted upon Foreneus healed just as rapidly as the last.

"Crap, he's a stubborn one. I'd respect that if it wasn't blasting us right now." muttered Drake, forcing her cannons to reload as she could feel her mana reserves beginning to wane.

It wasn't a serious concern at the moment, but Drake could guess at Forneus and Medea Lily's strategy, such as it was. With the power of the Holy Grail, Medea could heal Forneus's injuries indefinitely. Then, in time, Chaldea's forces would be utterly spent and defenseless.

"Hrmph," clicked Euryale, firing another arrow that was swallowed up by the Demon Pillar, "Even the Olympians had a sense of taste, this Demon Pillar is just fighting dirty at this point."

"GRRRHHH!" shouted Mash, deflecting more beams away from the Hind with Lord Chaldeas as Euryale's words rang in her ears.

"My teacher told me about such monsters in his journeys," said Ushiwakamaru, aiming the cannon at the center of the twisted knot that made up Forneus's body, "Monsters with bodies that wouldn't die even if their heart was pierced, or their flesh torn to ribbons."

"How are we supposed to kill it then?" Galatea asked.

"I don't really have a concrete understanding." Ushiwakamaru answered. "But I have an idea that might work."

"Well don't be shy, tell us!" Stheno said.

"There are three things I can think of. Option one is to cut the connection it has to Medea Lily up there." Ushiwakamaru replied. "Option two is to find a way to destroy every single part of its body all at once. Or use weapons that cancel out healing!"

"Well we HAD someone like that." Alexander said. "But now we don't….."

Forneus screeched and smoke formed around its base. Everyone widened their eyes in horror as the smoke's pressure grew and grew, forcing everyone to try to get out of range. Unfortunately for them, the smoke shot out and hit some of the ships, scuffing them and knocking the people on them onto the deck. Alexander's ship was one of those caught, and received the most damage. The red haired Rider and his companions groaned in pain as they slowly tried to get up from the wreckage of their ship.

"Guys, you have to get out of there!" Ritsuka shouted. "He's aiming at you!"

The trio got up slowly and were shocked as Forneus aimed its beams straight towards them. They wouldn't have enough time to get out of the way now, and they froze in terror as the beams shot at them.

"Get away from my little brother!"

Everyone's eyes widened in shock as they heard that familiar voice ring out across the battlefield. Not a second later, someone rushed towards Alexander's ship in a blur and managed to block the beams and redirected it at Forneus. As soon as everyone's vision cleared they could only stare in disbelief at who they saw.

Standing on the ruined deck of Alexander's ship holding his shield was none other than Perseus. The adult Rider's left arm and right eye were gone, but his stance and aura was brimming with utmost conviction and determination.

"No…this isn't possible!" Medea Lily shouted. "How is he…..oh….oh no…."

Perseus looked up to Medea Lily and scowled. "You really made a mistake in killing Jason and replacing him with this thing. Because of that, I'm now free to stop you once and for all!"

The adult Rider looked back at Alexander and his companions and grinned. "I can't really beat this thing on my own. Can you help me end this beast?"

Alexander grinned and nodded. "We'll cover you."

"Then what are you all waiting for? Let's hit it with everything we got!"

Ritsuka and Tatsuko turned around to see Medusa now on the deck of the ship they were on. The Chaldean Rider was badly injured with a limp, but she was still able to stand and fight. Medusa looked at Drake and Ushiwakamaru, and both women nodded.

"You heard her!" Ushiwakamaru shouted to the Servants. "Put everything you have in blasting that thing as fast and hard as you can!"

"Alright mates, time to fire it all and show this monster what we're capable of!" Drake shouted.

That was all they needed to hear. Mashu blocked another beam attack, but ran with her shield in her hands so she could help move one of the cannons into position to fire. Galatea steered her ship to the side so David, Artemis and Atalante could shoot all their projectiles at maximum power. Alexander and the two female Pirates continued their assault while the twin Goddesses provided their support with arrows and magic orbs. Medusa decided to help coordinate alongside the Masters by pointing out blindspots and directing every ship to attack at every angle. Perseus took the opportunity to dematerialize his shield and summoned Harpe into his hand. The Rider quickly launched himself at the Demon God Pillar and cut into precise locations that the others did not get to, or could not reach.

As that was happening, Medea panted heavily in exhaustion. Medea Lily could only smile innocently as she watched her older self shake and try to catch her breath.

"Are you done?" Medea Lily asked. "What happened to all that confidence earlier?"

"Oh it isn't gone. But this is what happens when someone gets older." Medea retorted. "You'll understand one day."

Medea Lily giggled and then blasted Medea right in the chest with a bolt of magic. "As if I'd ever be like you."

"Perhaps you're right about that…." Medea muttered with a grin. "You're far worse than I ever could be."

Medea Lily roared in anger and attacked her again. Medea took a deep breath, and flew past the beams to get close to her. The young Caster could only stare in confusion until her older self got close enough and brought out a dagger.

"Ruler Breaker!"

Schlick!

Medea Lily's eyes widened as she coughed up blood. She looked down and saw the dagger pierced her gut, and felt herself weakening. She then saw the Grail leave her body, and watched as her older self took it in her free hand. The two of them just stared at each other silently, knowing what the other was thinking. Medea pulled out her dagger, but held onto her younger self as she saw her starting to dissipate into golden dust, until there was nothing left of her.

Medea took the Grail into her hands and looked down upon the battle below. She saw everyone stopping their assault on the Demon God Pillar for a moment, seeing that the Pillar's healing was now slowing down. The Demon God Pillar soon started to screech and fire its beams wildly in every direction, causing everyone to renew their assault. Atalante and Artemis jumped off the ship they were on and shot at the Demon God Pillar while jumping from ship to ship. Ushiwakamaru and Drake continued to fire every cannonball they could muster to burn the Pillar's body while Alexander continued to shock it with lightning. Anne and Mary continued to cover him by throwing bombs and shooting rounds into it to tear into the Pillar's body. Perseus continued to blitz through his attacks, his blade preventing any healing from occurring thanks to its abilities. However the Demon God Pillar was not done yet, and fired more beams at everyone.

Anne and Mary were hit directly in their legs, causing them to fall to the ground. The taller woman hissed as she saw that her right leg had a large hole in it, and Mary's left arm was completely blasted off. David was fortunate to not get hit, but he was now unable to land any more hits on the Pillar itself as he was now blocked by debris. Artemis and Atalante managed to get behind cover and continued to shoot at the Pillar, and they did not relent. One of the beams made it straight for Drake, but Ushiwakamaru pushed her out of the way, but her injury nearly caused her to get hit by one of the beams. Mashu was quicker, thankfully and managed to block the beam with her shield. Alexander continued to fire lightning at the Pillar but it was refusing to die that easily. However one of the beams was going straight for the Masters and Medusa. Medea gasped and flew down as quickly as she could and erected a barrier over the ship, blocking the beam. However the sheer force of the attack nearly knocked Medea off her feet, but she held fast and would not budge. As soon as the beams stopped, Medea went on the offensive, firing everything she had at it alongside the others, causing the Demon God Pillar to shriek and prepare for another attack. However with a mighty roar, Medea, Alexander, Atalante, Artemis and the twin Goddesses managed to persevere, and blast the Demon God Pillar hard enough for it to stagger.

"Now's your chance!" Medea shouted. Drake nodded and took the opportunity to look at her stockpile, and clicked her tongue. There was only one cannonball left to fire at the thing, so she had to make it count. She looked at Perseus, who was getting back up from one of the beams hitting him and whistled.

"I'm blowing this thing to Davy Jones Locker!" She shouted. "When I fire, you're up!"

"Got it!"

Mashu wasted no time in placing the cannonball inside the cannon. Drake pushed the cannon into position, and took aim.

"Take this, ya damned hellspawn!"

*BOOM!*

The cannonball shot straight into the center of the Demon God Pillar, opening it up and revealing a shining core within. Perseus took the chance to rush in before it could heal and let out a loud roar. The Rider swung Harpé into its core, shattering it in one strike. The Demon God Pillar screeched and howled. Perseus jumped away as it started to rumble and shake until it stopped moving altogether. It was only then that the Demon God Pillar started to vanish into nothingness, leaving nothing behind of it left. It was then and only then did everyone take a breath in relief.

It was finally over. The Demon God Pillar was dead.

Perseus nearly slumped over from exhaustion, but he felt someone catch his fall and another person offering him their shoulder. He looked to see Artemis and Alexander helping him up, smiling at him.

"You did a great job, Perseus." Artemis said.

"I feel like death, but I'm glad I could help in the end." Perseus replied.

"And I'm glad that you're still alive." Alexander chimed.

Perseus couldn't help but chuckle. "Same here, little brother, same here."

Medea cleared her throat and looked at everyone calmly. "Those who need healing, please come aboard this ship so Ritsuka and I can tend to you! We have some time before we need to leave, so do not let this chance slip by."

The participants all nodded and slowly started to navigate through the wreckage of ships to try and sail their ships towards the Colchis flagship. The three children of Zeus were picked up by David, who found another working vessel to sail, while Galatea managed to pick up Anne and Mary to sail them towards the flagship. As the ships navigated, the two Masters, Medusa and Medea felt a chilling presence aboard the flagship. Tatsuko froze in terror before hiding behind Ritsuka as the ghosts of the crew materialized again, staring back at Medea fiercely. The blue haired woman stared back at them calmly and took a deep breath.

"You are now no longer bound to this realm." She said. "Go, be at peace. And know that you have done the Kingdom of Colchis proud."

Slowly, one by one, the ghosts let out a sigh of relief, and vanished into thin air. Their oaths were fulfilled, and they were finally able to pass on.

"Okay, they're gone now." Medea said to Tatsuko gently.

"Sorry…" Tatsuko muttered. "But it's been a hellish few days for me with those ghosts around."

"I know." Medea said. "But it's all over now. So don't fret."

Tatsuko took a few deep breaths and calmed herself down. "Okay, okay I think I'm good."

Medea nodded and turned towards Ritsuka with a warm smile. "Let's get ready for some guests. We have a lot of wounded to tend to after all."

Ritsuka smiled back and nodded. "I already got my medkits and scrolls ready and prepped."

The Caster and male Master chuckled together for a moment before looking back towards the ships making their way to them. They had a lot of work ahead of them, but together, with David's help, they would be able to finish up in no time.

"So let me get this straight." Drake said. "The moment both of you hit the water, you basically clung to him unknowingly and then dragged him and yourself out of the water?"

"He was unconscious too." Medusa replied.

"Yeah, I'm willing to call that bout a draw." Perseus said as Medea healed his injuries.

"I agree." Medusa replied. "With this, I can say my grudge has been satisfied."

"So does that mean you two are friends now?" Mashu asked.

"No." Medusa and Perseus said in unison. As that was happening, David was attempting to heal up Anne as best he could. Mary hopped over with her one remaining leg to stay with her companion with concern written over her face.

"I'll be fine, Mary." Anne said.

"Oh I wasn't worried." Mary lied. "I just wanted to show you I don't need a peg leg, like Peg Leg Pete."

Anne giggled. "Well Peg Leg Pete was still really good."

Mary sighed. "Yeah, you're not wrong there."

"Hey hey, keep that to yourselves!" Drake said.

Tatsuko gasped. "Oh, I KNEW IT! You two are an item!"

"Well yeah, we've always been an item." Anne said. "And we're an open relationship, if ya really want to….understand us more."

"Then what about that guy….what's his name again?" Ritsuka asked. "Something Jack?"

"Calico Jack." Mary said. "He was more of a fling for Anne than anything else."

"And he was pretty decent in the bedroom." Anne said. "Too bad he was bad at everything else."

"Okay, that wasn't something I needed to know." Ritsuka replied. As he said that, Roman appeared on the communicator. The acting Director cleared his throat and smiled.

"Great work everyone." He said. "I know this was a very….hectic and difficult time for all of you. But you all persevered and did not let anything stop you from coming out on top."

"And with the foreign Grail in our hands, this Singularity will be corrected soon." Medea said as she held the cup in her hands. "But before that happens, I believe there is a certain tradition we Chaldeans have to uphold, no?"

Everyone watched in confusion as the Caster smiled warmly. The expressions of the Chaldeans soon turned to shock as they watched Medea raise her right hand into the air as if to grab the sun.

"No way…" Tatsuko said. "You're actually doing the Chaldean Salute? But I thought you hated it?"

Medea chuckled. "I think I've come around to it. I am a Chaldean Servant afterall."

The Chaldeans said nothing. Instead they looked at each other and smiled knowingly. Soon, each and everyone of the Chaldean Servants, alongside the Chaldean Trio performed the Chaldean Salute to signify their job was finally done. As they were done with the Salute, they felt the familiar sensation from their allied Servants, and knew it was time to say their goodbyes.

"Well, it seems like we're going first." Artemis said. "It has been a pleasure meeting you all. May we meet again for the next hunt, fellow warriors."

"So long guys!" Orion said. "It's been really fun getting to know you guys!"

Everyone nodded and waved as the two lovers turned to golden dust and returned to the Throne of Heroes. Soon enough, it was Anne and Mary's turn. The two pirates smiled as they looked at the rest of the Chaldeans and Drake.

"Well, looks like we didn't get paid at all." Anne said jokingly. "Ah well, given the circumstances I'd say this is fine."

"Aye." Mary replied. "Besides, it was a fun little adventure. Even though we got caught up in stuff I'd rather we didn't."

"Hey, it was still good to have met you two." Tatsuko said.

"Same here!" Anne said. "Hey, who knows, maybe we can come back to this Chaldea place you guys come from."

"Oh that would be lovely." Mashu said.

"Let's not get too happy." Mary said. "We don't know if we will be coming."

"Hey, never say never." Okita said. "I think you guys might fit right in."

Anne smiled mischievously as she stared at the Chaldean Trio. "If that's the case, you three better watch out. Mary and I really like…company, if you catch my drift."

The Trio gulped as Medusa and Medea groaned in annoyance at the remark.

"Remind me to get a hose for them." Medusa whispered.

"I'll supply it myself." Medea whispered back.

"Let's…try to keep this PG?" Ritsuka asked the pirates.

Mary shrugged. "We're pirates. We take what we want, and do not look back."

"Just remember that next time!" Anne said. And with that, the two pirates returned to the Throne of Heroes, leaving the others bewildered with their flirtations. The group turned to Atalante, with the Archer remaining as calm as a cucumber.

"Well, it seems like I'm next to go." She said.

"Atalante…." Medea muttered.

The Archer smiled at the Caster. "It was wonderful seeing you again, Medea."

Medea smiled back. "I was happy to see you two."

Atalante nodded and turned her attention to the two Masters. "Thank you for keeping Medea company on her journey. I hope we get to meet again."

"I hope so too." Ritsuka said.

Atalante stared at Ritsuka with curiosity, causing the male Master to raise an eyebrow. "Is something wrong?"

"No, no." Atalante said. "I just feel something strange with you."

"Really? What is so strange about him?" Alexander asked.

"He has the blood of lions running through his veins." Atalante said.

"I….what?" Ritsuka muttered.

"It means you have a particular aura about you." Atalante said. "But do not fret. I am simply observing, nothing more."

"Well if you say so." Tatsuko said.

"Well, it seems I do not have much more time." Atalante replied. I'm happy I was of service this time. I didn't want to be defeated like last time. That said, I haven't really shown what I can do yet. So please call on me again sometime."

"Don't worry!" Ushiwakamaru said. "We will be sure to see you again!"

Atalante chuckled. "Farewell, I do hope that we do end up crossing paths again."

Everyone nodded and watched as the Archer returned to the Throne of Heroes. David was next and turned to look at the Chaldeans.

"I guess I'm going next." David said. "Thank you all for helping protect the Ark from Jason and his crew."

"It was our pleasure to help." Mashu replied.

"It seems you have various struggles ahead, but do your best without being discouraged." David said.

"Oh, before you go, I have a question!" Mashu said. "We encountered something like this back in Rome. It called itself a Demon God Pillar."

"As in one of the seventy-two?" David asked.

"Yes." Mashu answered. "You are King Solomon's father, so I was thinking you would know if they really are Demon God Pillars."

"I see…." David muttered. "It's true Solomon is my son...But summoning spells are beyond my capabilities."

Mashu's face became crestfallen. "Oh…I see…."

"I am sorry, but I do not know anything about who is behind this." David said. "But there is one thing that I would like to say to Doctor Roman."

Roman gulped as the communicator faced the green haired Archer. "Y-yes?"

"Don't overwork yourself too much." David said. "And also remember to eat better meals and get plenty of rest."

Everyone raised an eyebrow at the remarks. Of all the things he could have told him, that wasn't what anyone was expecting.

"Ummmm, okay?" Euryale said. "That was weird."

"Sorry, I just felt like I had to tell him that for some reason." David said. "Well, I must be going. I leave the rest to you, but if anything happens, don't hesitate to call on me."

"We certainly will." Roman said. Not a second later, David waved his goodbyes, and returned to the Throne of Heroes in a bright dazzling light.

"So, what about you three?" Perseus asked the twins and Galatea. "Are you going back with them?"

"Yeah, we decided to go to Chaldea directly." Euryale said.

"I see." Perseus said with a smile. "Then I guess I'm the last one to go."

"Perseus…" Alexander muttered.

"Don't worry, little brother." Perseus said. "This isn't goodbye. Think of it as a temporary separation. I'm sure we'll meet again."

Alexander smiled. "Right! I'm sure we'll meet again!"

"That's the spirit." Perseus said. The Rider turned to face the rest of the Chaldeans with a bright smile. "It was a pleasure meeting all of you!"

"It was nice meeting you too!" Ushiwakamaru said. "You were a great help in solving this Singularity!"

"I'm happy I could help out." Perseus said. The Rider turned his attention to Medusa, and nodded. "I know that you probably don't want to hear this, but I'm glad that we could work together for a change."

Medusa nodded. "Just remember that you owe me. Big time."

Perseus chuckled. "I'll keep that in mind."

"Hey Perseus, I've been meaning to ask." Tatsuko said. "How is it that you're so fast?"

Perseus raised an eyebrow. "What are you talking about?"

Tatsuko blushed. "W-well, it's just that I learned that I have super speed myself, and I've been wondering how you got to that level…."

Perseus laughed. "I'm the son of Zeus. The lightning I wield enhances my speed."

"Oh, okay that explains a lot." Tatsuko replied.

"Hey, if you want I could give you some pointers if I ever come to Chaldea." Perseus said.

Tatsuko smiled. "That would be nice."

Perseus nodded and took a deep breath. "I guess this is goodbye for now. I hope to see you all again sometime. And hopefully I can bring my wife along so I can introduce you guys!"

Everyone nodded and waved their farewells to Perseus as he disappeared into golden dust to return to the Throne of Heroes. Roman cleared his throat and smiled. "Well it's almost time to get back home guys."

"Do you have enough space for the two of us?" Stheno asked.

"We have plenty of coffins for you three to come from." Davinci said with a smile. "Okay guys, we're about to get ready to bring you all back! Time for you all to say your farewells!"

Everyone nodded and looked at Drake, with Roman smiling happily at her. "Captain Francis Drake, thank you very much. With so many special cases this time, I wasn't really much help. But luckily we had a dependable voyager like you on site. Thanks to that, history has been successfully corrected."

"Hey, don't sweat it." Drake replied. "Honestly I couldn't do much in the end. If I could become one of those Servants too, I'd be a little flashier. But I suppose that's an impossible request. A pirate like me could never be treated like a hero."

"Hey now, don't sell yourself short." Tatsuko said. "You're already a great hero in my books!"

Drake stared at her with curiosity. "Seriously?"

"Yep!"

Drake laughed. "If you're the one saying it, then I'll believe half of it! But there is something that I've been meaning to ask…If history is corrected, will I really lose my memories of all of you?"

Ritsuka nodded sadly. "That's just how it is…."

"I see. Guess I can't sail around the world with you folks. A pity." Drake said. "But that's fine. Our time together was short, but it was a merry journey. So go. For seafarers, parting is always abrupt. Blown up by a cannonball, washed away by a wave, and ultimately lost sight of our destination and die. That's why we take those fears and always "brush them off" with a laugh."

"Indeed." Medusa said. "It has been a pleasure, Captain Drake."

"Pleasure's all mine, Medusa." Drake said. "Now I do have a favor to ask you and Medea over there."

"Name it." Medea said.

"Look after these three, will ya?" Drake asked. "They might be young and inexperienced right now. But in the future, I know for a fact that they'll be doing amazing things. So make sure you all keep an eye on them!"

Medusa grinned. "Don't worry, we'll make sure to watch over them."

"Glad to hear it!" Drake said. The pink haired pirate then saw Mashu fidget uncomfortably, and raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong, Mashu?"

"It is nothing…" Mashu said. "But….During this journey, I wanted to discover my wish and report it to you, Captain."

"Oh, you mean what we talked about before? How you're troublesome because you have no wishes? It bothered you that much?"

Mashu nodded, causing Drake to smile. " Don't be silly. You already have a wish, Mashu. You know very well what you want to do."

Mashu stared at her in confusion. "Captain Drake, what do you mean?"

"Saying you have no wish is wrong." Drake answered. "In the first place, nobody is without greed. All humans have some kind of wish."

"All humans have some kind of wish…." Mashu muttered.

"Aye. You can't live without one." Drake said. "The only difference is living while knowing what it is, or spending your whole life not realizing it."

"She's got a point." Medea said. "Even Jason had a dream of creating a utopia."

"He did?" Ritsuka asked.

Medea nodded. "He may have been reprehensible in his deeds, but he always wanted what was best for people. If you can believe it."

"I see…" Mashu muttered. "Though selfish, he was trying to protect others.

"Aye. Sometimes sinners do saintly deeds, while saints sin." Drake said. "That's humanity for you. That's us. That's why everyone's got a wish. It's just that some go their whole lives without realizing what their true wishes are."

"Then…..which type am I, Captain Drake?" Mashu asked.

Drake went silent and stared at the Shielder calmly. The pirate took a deep breath, and shook her head. " You're the type that's better off not realizing. You should stay just the way you are."

"O-oh….." Mashu muttered.

"I'm sure you'll know in the end." Drake said with a smile. "You'll realize what you want to do, and why you continue to raise that shield to defend others. I'm the opposite, I already know. The sooner you know, the uglier the punchline ends up being."

"Are you, um... From now on, your life…" Mashu said.

"It's fine. You needn't state the obvious." Drake said. "I know how it ends for me. I die, right?"

"Well not anytime soon, but…"

"Then I know it'll be a good life!" Drake said. "Life is interesting once you know you're going to die. No, because you will die, you want to live in the moment."

"Spoken like a true pirate." Ritsuka said with a warm smile.

"Aye!" Drake shouted. "We're gonna die eventually! So I want to enjoy every single moment while I can. Thanks to you, I now know how vast the world is. It's a never-ending journey, even if I go all out. I'd be satisfied to take just a little of that, and blaze one of the many trails available. So never mind. Don't worry yourself over my dying days."

The Captain of the Golden Hind pumped her fist in the air proudly and grinned. "Farewell you guys! When your journey ends, just remember how much fun you had with me! That'll be enough!"

Everyone nodded and waved their farewells. In an instant, the Chaldeans, Galatea and the twin Goddesses vanished in a bright light, leaving the Golden Hind alone in the vast sea.

(Back in Chaldea)

Roman and Davinci waited patiently as the group came out of their coffins slowly and stretched their muscles. The moment they were done, the two of them walked towards them with pride in their steps.

"Great job everyone." Roman said. "That's now three Singularities cleared. Only four more to go."

"Let's just hope the next one is on dry land." Galatea said. "The ocean was a big disadvantage for someone like me…."

"Hey now, you helped immensely." Alexander said. "If you didn't take care of those ships when you did, then the others would have been overrun."

"You do have a point." Galatea replied.

"So what's on the agenda now?" Ushiwakamaru asked.

"For right now, you all deserve some rest and relaxation." Davinci answered. "Roman and I will be focusing on finding the next Singularity after everyone here gets sufficient sleep and food."

"I'm not going to lie, but food sounds good right about now…" Ritsuka said.

"Now hold a moment." Stheno said. "I do believe me, my other self, and Galatea are due for a tour of our new home."

"I'll take care of that." Medusa said. "The Trio have been put through a tough time, so they need to unwind for a bit."

"Then lead the way, Medusa." Euryale said. The Rider smiled and bade her sisters and Galatea to follow her out of the Command Room. As soon as they left everyone's attention focused back on each other. Ushiwakamaru and Alexander grinned at each other and knelt down as if to prepare for a race.

"Last one at the cafeteria has to buy lunch!" Alexander said.

"Sounds like a plan!" Ushiwakamaru shouted. Before anyone could stop them, both Riders raced out of the room towards the cafeteria, leaving everyone bewildered.

"Well it's nice to see those two have energy to spare." Okita said. "Wait….Ushiwakamaru just ran on her bad leg!"

"Oh she'll be fine." Davinci said. "She seemed like she was having a blast."

Okita sighed. "I guess. Well in any event, I'm going to lie down…"

Everyone nodded and watched Okita walk out of the room towards her quarters. As soon as the doors closed, everyone heard a low rumbling sound coming from Ritsuka.

"Sorry Roman, but we didn't get to eat properly before the final battle…" Ritsuka said.

"Hey, given the situation we can easily let it slide." Roman replied. "Though maybe you should go get some food, otherwise we're going to hear your stomach all night."

"Yeah, food sounds REALLY good right about now." Tatsuko said. "Especially with this guy's stomach begging constantly."

Ritsuka blushed a bit causing Medea to giggle. "I'll make sure the three of them get some food in them."

"Are you sure you want to accompany us?" Mashu asked.

Medea nodded. "I'd love to."

Ritsuka stopped blushing and smiled. "Then let's get going. It'll be my-"

"No, let it be my treat." Medea said. "As a way to thank you, and Tatsuko."

The Trio stared at her in surprise, and were about to open their mouths when Medea put a hand up to stop them. "I'm not budging on this. So let me treat you three, okay?"

The Trio nodded slowly. Medea smiled and led them out of the Command Room and towards the cafeteria, leaving Roman and Davinci to watch in amusement.

"I was wondering when she'd soften up." Davinci said.

"I had a feeling it'd happen here." Roman said.

Davinci raised an eyebrow in amusement. "Oh really now?"

Roman chuckled and scratched the back of his head. "Yeah, I just had this feeling that this journey would force Medea to confront herself somehow."

"Well I'm glad it all worked out for everyone." Davinci said. "Now all that's left to do is for us to figure out the next Singularity."

"I think that can wait until tomorrow." Roman said. "I have things that need to be taken care of first."

"Roman, does this have to do with Magi Mari?"

"No!" Roman shouted.

Davinci raised an eyebrow. "Roman….."

Roman gulped. "N-no….."

Davinci groaned. "What am I going to do with you….?"

"What was that Davinci?" Roman asked.

"Nothing nothing."

"Oh, okay….well now if you'll excuse me I'll just check on-"

"Oh no you don't!" Davinci shouted. "You're not checking on Magi Mari now!"

Roman ran out of the Command Room with Davinci hot on his heels, leaving Eric and Henry to chuckle.

"Oh he's definitely going into the doghouse tonight." Eric chimed.

"Dog house?" Henry asked in amusement. "He's probably going to be sleeping in the med bay for the next few weeks."

The two lovers couldn't help but laugh at the thought. It was only now that everyone could breathe a sigh of relief, as the long voyage across the sea came to an end.

Not long after the Chaldeans left, everyone on the Golden Hind returned to their posts. Drake stepped up to the wheel, and saw Jack the monkey sulking.

"Hey don't worry little guy, you have a new home here." She said as she scratched his chin. She then heard someone clearing their throat and saw Bombe staring at her curiously.

"Where shall we go now Cap'n?"

Drake smiled and shrugged. "I think we should let the winds decide today!"

"Aye, cap'n!" Bombe soon gave the orders and joined the rest of the crew on the deck. As the Golden Hind set sail to bask in the final moments of the Singularity, Drake felt an emptiness in her chest. She knew that she had to say goodbye, but for some reason, she felt like something in her was missing. Whether it was from the longing of great companions or a good treasure hunt, one thing was for certain, she knew that she had to meet the Chaldeans some day.

"Damn, I'm gonna miss those guys." She said with a sigh.

"Aye cap'n, they were a highlight of this voyage." Marcus said.

Drake smiled. "Well, there's only one thing we can do now ya sea dogs! Marcus, play us a shanty!"

"Have one in mind, cap'n?"

Drake grinned. If they were going to forget everything soon, there was only one song in her mind she wanted to play before that happened.

The pink haired woman whispered into the pirate's ear, causing him to nod. "Kay boys! Time for a song!"

Marcus began tapping his foot, and soon everyone joined in, causing Drake to open her mouth to sing.

—-AUTHOR'S NOTES—-

OC: And so the third Singularity comes to a close. And with it, more friends will come. Now for our dear audience, before we begin our usual celebrations, there is something that I'd like to do since this story is now written by another person other than Cosmic Vlad, may he rest in peace. This new guy is someone I have known for almost as long as Vlad, and is perhaps one of the few people I could trust with helping write this story. For those of you on Reddit, you definitely know and love him, Ladies and Gentlemen, please give a warm welcome to Yatsu!

Y: Henlo everybody, this is Yatsu, the new co-writer. I had been following along for a while, so OC asked me to continue. I can't say I knew Cosmic Vlad the same way OC did, but I also wish Vlad's family peace for his passing, and hope he is in a happier place. All I can do is help OC continue what he and Vlad started, so I'm here for the both of them, in a sense.

OC: Thanks Yatsu. However, don't be selling yourself short now, you're already doing a great job as the new guy already!

Y: Well, I do have a bit of experience in the F/GO fanfic scene. Still adjusting to all the new information for plot threads, character arcs, etc. but I'd like to say I'll do my best moving forward into the future.

OC: So without giving anything away, what do you think of what I told you so far? I'm genuinely curious since the last time we were discussing plot points was a few days ago.

Y: Ah, well, it's definitely going to result in a great deal of divergences, some of which will definitely catch some readers off guard, particular in later arcs.

OC: Well you got to admit that's going to be fun.

Y: Mhmm, definitely.

OC: Well here's another thing to help the audience get to know you a little better. Why don't we start by having you describe a tiny bit about yourself. Nothing personal, mind you. Just things like your favorite character, story chapter, stuff like that. I mean I already know the first answer lol, but they don't.

Y: Hehe, well, I've been a Tamamo fan ever since Extra. No matter what, I can never get enough of her, and I'm always excited when she gets love (Extra Remake when Nasu?). As for my favorite story chapter…well, I'd have to say, Atlantis. While it doesn't have my favorite characters, it does work with its surprising cast (who genuinely thought Jason was gonna receive a glow-up) in a fantastic manner. There's still some nargles, but it doesn't outstay its welcome and is still my favorite chapter overall for FGO

OC: Now that I can get behind. As for Atlantis I am happy to share that for that one it'll mainly be a Yatsu and I endeavor because Vlad and I didn't really discuss that one much, so Yatsu will be having an absolute blast taking the reins lol. Well, he's definitely taking the reins here too, but you all know what I mean.

Y: Well Okeanos was a good chapter to test out a number of different characters. I think it'll be smooth sailing, all things considered

OC: And speaking of Okeanos, I think it's time to introduce our special guests for tonight. They were definitely the highlights of this arc, with both of them showing the world why they became famous, or infamous, throughout the world. These two women don't let anything slow them down, and they do not take shit from anyone. Ladies and Gentlemen, please give a warm welcome to the Devils of the Sea….MEDEA AND CAPTAIN FRANCIS DRAKE!

(The two women poof onto the seats across the writers)

Drake: What in Davy Jones Locker is going on here?!

Medea: Well, that was….interesting…Normally I'm the one who does this sort of thing.

OC: Sorry about that, guess the teleportation spell needs some adjustments again.

Drake: Ah, so that's what happened. Well in any case, where are we?

OC: That's kinda a secret. All I can say is that you're the special guests, right Yatsu?

Y: Indeed

Medea: Oh I remember now, Heracles mentioned this earlier. Wait…wasn't there someone else that…..

OC: Yeah…..there was…

(Drake and Medea realize what happened.)

Drake: Ahhhhh, I guess that explains that new star in the sky…

Medea: That it does…..

OC: Sorry you two, but he wouldn't want you guys to wallow in sadness right now. To him, this is your big moment, so please, chins up!

Y: The show must go on, for the sake of all the stars that wish to see it to its completion.

OC: Yatsu's right. Now onto the first question. And it'll be for both of you; If there was one thing during that Singularity that you could have done differently, what would it have been, and why?

Drake: Honestly? None whatsoever.

Medea: For me? I guess it would have been taking out that teleportation Mystic Code when Jason first appeared. I probably should have kept that hidden until we were ready to go.

Y: Teleportation always causes problems, ask the Bioshock dev team. Well, second question: How did you two feel when Hektor deviated his ships towards the Hind?

Medea: Wait, he did that?

Drake: Aye, he did. To be fair we did take that into consideration so that's why Okita and Ushiwakamaru were on the Hind with me, Mashu and the twins. However we didn't expect him to bring that many ships, nor did we expect him to know exactly where we were. If I could say how I feel about it, I'd say I felt a little annoyed by that guy's brains.

OC: Well he was the man who prevented Troy from falling for pretty much the entire war. Now next question, and this is for Medea; How did you feel knowing Euryale has feelings for Asterios.

Medea: Personally I think they'd be very good together. However, as his relative I do have some slight concerns about it considering his mental health.

OC: But Euryale said she'd be waiting for when he's gotten better.

Medea: And that's why I respect her, and trust her in making him happy when that day arrives.

Y: All fluff must be protected. That moves us onto the last question: What do you two think of the Demon Pillar Forneus that emerged from Jason? Do you think Medea Lily knew what exactly would come out?

Drake: I had no idea those things even existed. It was definitely the most unsettling thing I ever laid eyes on….and I saw a lot of shit in my day! As for that Medea Lily? Hard to say.

Medea: I actually had a feeling that was what she had planned when I saw Jason starting to melt like that. Having seen the recordings of Rome did help me know what it was, but I wasn't actually expecting another one so soon.

OC: Yeah….those things always have a way of popping up when you least expect it. Oh, would you look at the time, the interview is over. Thanks for coming you two!

Drake: Hey, not a problem. Though maybe next time have some booze for me to drink!

Medea: And maybe some music.

OC: We'll keep that in mind. Oh wait! Before you go, there is one last thing!

Drake: And what's that?

Y: All stars are required to give a bow before stepping off stage.

Medea: A bow?

(OC nods): You have quite the audience after all. Isn't that right everyone?!

(The audience cheers and claps at the two guests. Medea and Drake look at each other with amused smiles before giving a bow to the audience, and then leave via teleportation spell).

OC: And that was the second OG FSN Servant to appear in our little studio. And also the greatest pirate I've ever seen.

Y: I'd say we'd still need some more potential competitors like William Kidd, but Drake is pretty high up…just that he (or I guess she) was a privateer.

OC: Yeah, though Blackbeard would probably take offense we left him out. But enough on that, it's time for some discussions about each scene! For scene one it was definitely the most chaotic part of the chapter, mainly because we had to balance out the amount of allies against Forneus and Medea Lily, and thankfully Yatsu was the one who came through and managed to figure out how we could do that.

Y: Well, it was effectively analyzing each character's kit and what they could do, and bringing all the pieces into their proper place so the scene could materialize.

OC: Fair enough. But one of the coolest parts to write was Atalante and Artemis jumping from ship to ship while shooting at Forneus. And they never got hit once! Talk about a show of skill and speed!

Y: Well, Servants were effectively 'Glass Cannons' in the Nasuverse compared to Dead Apostles, in the old canon. They can do a lot of damage easily, and NPs could be total game changers, but a solid hit to the heart or brain and…zip. DA's like Roa, in contrast, treated 'getting everything above your ankles pulped and vaporized' as a 'minor' injury.

OC: Yeah…..Nasuverse is weird sometimes. However the biggest thing about the fight with Forneus was how they managed to take him down by a loophole! Perseus coming in clutch saving Alexander like the good big brother he is and telling Medea Lily "You done goofed!" And there's a good musical score that I listened to when I wrote that in. For you Demon Slayer fans out there, think of a particular moment in the Red Light District arc when Uzui comes in clutch to save the day against Gyutaro!

Y: Mhmm, I was thinking of that as well. It was definitely a case of the villains not realizing the proper pieces were in the exact place they needed to be and they were up against the wall.

OC: Yep yep! And with his sword, they were able to get around Medea Lily's healing spells and the Demon God Pillar's own healing factor. Seriously did you really think we'd kill him and Medusa off like that with little fanfare? Nah, if they were going to die, we'd have done more to show it.

Y: I was thinking it'd be cool if Perseus passed Harpe to Medusa as well, to reference First Order OVA and foreshadow Medusa Lily. Unfortunately, NPs usually can't be passed like that; it requires a Hero known to Give (such as Achilles or Karna) towards a Hero that Received (like Astolfo or Arjuna). And still requires a LUK check.

OC: Well it all worked out. And the best final touch was Drake giving Perseus the opening he needed to finish off Forneus once and for all. I was thinking of having her quote Jaws when she shot that cannon, but I decided against it because it'd have been too silly.

Y: Mhmm, everything has its time and place. It was interesting to see a Demon Pillar battle from this perspective; we get so used to chewing them up in the raids (poor Barbatos), that it's easy to forget that even a single Demon Pillar is a threat to multiple Servants working together.

OC: Yeah, Anne and Mary can agree with that. Now as for scene 2, we just had everyone say their goodbyes and whatnot. We decided to have Medusa and Perseus agree that they ended in a draw instead of one side winning because they both weren't using their full strength. As for them saying they're not friends? That's true…..at least for now maybe? In any event we had Perseus be the last Servant to go because of his connection to Alexander and Medusa. And out of all the new Servants to write, he was definitely the most enjoyable so far. However, scene two cannot be complete without discussing the conversation between Drake and Mashu. I literally used what the game gave us because that was a really well done scene, and it showed Drake being a really great mentor to her, and I know a particular someone who will love its inclusion too.

Y: Well, Mash is the character whose growth the first arc explores. Each of the highlighted Servants have something to offer her with regards to her life; hence, the first arc can be explored as a pathway of Mash's life. Drake was certainly someone who lived her life as she saw fit; regardless of the scars, losses, or even death along the way, she saw her life as having value in living.

OC: And it also gave Mashu some insight for humans in general. Some people are better not knowing what their wish is until the end. But most importantly, some people have a noble goal, but are also assholes who would not be able to achieve it because of said dickish behavior. That is a good thing for her to remember. Unfortunately the writers seemed to have decided to have her forget that at some point and have her only see everyone as good for some reason…

Y: Reminds me of Greed, from FMA. He points out that ALL humans are driven by desires; the desire to help others, or see others happy are also desires on the same level (to him, at the beginning) as wanting money, women, power, etc. I think Mash is kinda written as more naive than she really should be in later arcs; there's being sheltered, but considering the events of part 1…well, more could've been done.

OC: Well we're not going to make that same mistake. This is a lesson that should stick with her, for good and bad. She'll still be the Mashu we all know and love, but with some hints of new wisdom and a new outlook as time goes on.

Y: Growing Wisdom is always difficult to portray, but highly rewarding when done well. One of my favorite parts of stories is when the narrative perfectly showcases the change in mindset and knowledge of life; subtlety is king there, but it is really something amazing that you wanna bookmark and read over and over!

OC: True, and now onto Scene 3! This is actually one I wrote by myself, because most of it was made from a rough draft from last year or so. Back when we were still in Orleans or so, I made a rough draft scene for the first chapter of Okeanos, which was Ritsuka singing a sea shanty, and then the ending scene for Okeanos. I wanted to make it come full circle because since it featured pirates and the sea, I wanted it to end on a heartwarming note. This arc began with a song, and it ended on a song.

Y: Sea shanties have ancient traditions; the art of sailing is a tapestry of cultural information passed down through travels, stories, and songs. People don't remember technical directions very well usually; but they do remember catchy songs easily.

OC: That they are. And they made a comeback in the 2020's because of Covid! Okay, so usually this is where we'd wrap up and end it, but there are a couple of things that I think you all need to know, and both are big news, one is incredibly amazing, and also astounding. And the other will be about Chronicles going forward.

To start with the first piece of news, I can't believe this happened. Somewhere, somehow, last Saturday, I got a message from a particular writer regarding this series, and he offered his condolences regarding Vlad's death. What's more, he has expressed interest in reading Chaldean Chronicles as well. That writer is none other than GhostXavier himself.

The writer of Fragments of Chaldea. The legend himself. Has expressed interest in our series.

Words cannot express how shocked I was when I saw his message the next day. I was absolutely taken aback because I never thought in a million years he'd ever hear of us. It was a tremendous honor speaking to him, and I know I have to apologize to him for this later lol. But in all seriousness, if Vlad were still here, he'd have been very happy knowing that GhostXavier has noticed us.

Now the next bit of news is something that I know will be shocking for everyone, but….it is something that would have had to happen eventually.

You see, for about a year now, I have been working part time at a store, and coincidentally, it allowed me and Vlad, and now Yatsu, to write this series weekly because I had a set schedule and would get home at a particular time so we could write.

Unfortunately, that time is soon to be over. I have given up my vision of being a Drone pilot as Vlad's death made me realize that I did not enjoy that avenue, and in doing so, I am now going to be pursuing a full-time job at the store I am working at now. I won't be getting that position yet as I still need to prove myself, but I have been told I am on the right track to becoming one in the future, but it also means I have made my availability at my job at all times of the day.

What does this mean? Well, it means that Chronicles might no longer be a weekly series.

It will still be written, I promise. But with me doing this, and Yatsu's job, it'll be more difficult for us to do this weekly. We will find a way to sit down and write when we can, but it won't be as frequent as it used to be.

So please, don't be sad guys. Chronicles won't be going anywhere. It'll just won't be as frequent as it used to be.

It was a decision I had to make, because for a while now, I wasn't able to eat properly on some days. On some days all I could make was some peanut butter sandwiches for dinner and lunch because that was all I could afford at the time. And rent was also becoming a concern. So I had to take this opportunity so I could be able to live.

As for when this happens, do not fret. The next two weeks will have the regular schedule, hopefully, but after that is when things get complicated. So next week we will definitely be uploading at the end of the week like usual.

Y: I will also inform everyone that my longtime dog girl has been having health problems recently. She's stable for now, but…the vet informed us she doesn't have a lot of time left. I have to be there for her, I hope you guys understand

OC: That's never an easy thing to go through. And with that we are out of time. Thank you all for staying with us this week! However, I know this chapter will be coming out late again, and I apologize…..because is being stupid and not responding!

Sorry, I had to vent. Now for next week, please stay tuned, but be warned. The next chapter is….not gonna be light hearted. It is one Vlad and I were not looking forward to, but it is going to be one of the most important chapters in Chaldenan Chronicles. Please tune in next week for the next chapter…
