Hi All. Welcome to chapter five of Potter Kind: On Their Own. I apologise for the delay in uploading, I could not access my profile to upload this for some reason yesterday. This is the second story in the Potter Kind series, I hope to write new stories for this series frequently. This series was inspired by some works by a writer who used to be on this site but doesn't put her work out there because of some negative feedback sadly. This story is complete and was written as a one shot, but as my poll results were tied and it was 15000+ words long, I decided it was too long to be a one shot, so I've split it into six chapters for you. Updates should be weekly unless something drastic happens. Don't forget if you haven't already, make sure to go onto your profile and opt in for email notifications if you want to be notified each time that I put a new chapter/story up.
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, Castor Charlus Potter and Jennifer Euphemia Potter are my own original character, but all other recognisable characters belong to J K Rowling, I just like to use them to do my bidding.
Series Summary: We know from the Black Tapestry that Dorea Black married Charlus Potter and they had a son. What if Charlus was James Potter's Father Fleamont Potter's brother? What if James had a little sister? What if Harry had other family members who could have taken him in and raise him? This is the story of the last three Potters.
Story Summary: Castor is a Hogwarts Graduate now and determined to be his little sister and brother's legal guardian, this is the story of their first day alone. AU, two OC's. Contains Spanking. Full warnings inside.
Warning: This is AU and has two OC's, and contains non-sexual spanking of a minor by their legal guardian. Don't like, don't read.
As always a huge, huge thank you to my amazing Beta who has been an amazing support in writing this. Yes, I am still trying my hardest to turn her into a Harry Potter Fan and I think I'm slowly convincing her. Without her support and guidance, I probably wouldn't have written this one.

The House Elves had cooked up a good dinner of sausage and mash with onion gravy and peas. Cas made sure all of Harry's was cut up before letting him feed himself. He'd be bathing him afterwards anyway, so if Harry made a mess, it wasn't much of a problem.
Fortunately, Harry seemed oblivious to the tension between Jenny and Cas and kept up a happy stream of babble as they ate. "Jenny, we goes ou'side an an dere uh kid'itch pish, I f'yed on Cas broom! He go weally high an fas'! We f'ied up an down an all uh-rownd duh pish. An, an t'morrow we having uh pi'nik ou'side wif cookies!"
Cas was relieved to see Jenny was actually softening a little under the happy little toddler's influence and was even considering asking Kip for some ice cream for after dinner.
Jenny couldn't keep up her angry countenance with Harry, he was just so cute talking enthusiastically about how he got to fly on Cas' broom. She felt a little left out, but a little voice in her head that she didn't want to listen to was pointing out that she'd chosen to sulk in her room, Cas had told her she could come out. She choose to ignore that voice, preferring to remain angry and annoyed at her big brother, ignoring him and focusing just on Harry, the only brother she liked right now. She ate her sausages and even ate her mashed potatoes, the House Elves had made them really well, but she refused to touch her peas, she didn't like peas very much, and Cas could not make her eat the gross little green balls. She was determined to win this battle of wills right here, right now, Sirius might have had the upper hand before, but Sirius wasn't here now, she would get the upper hand and then never need to eat gross fruit or vegetables again.
Cas saw Jenny push away her plate without having touched her peas, he was torn between enforcing the issue or letting it go. A big part of him just wanted to let it go, he didn't want a fight with his sister over vegetables of all things, but Sirius' warning was ringing in his head. "Jenny, your peas," he prompted softly.
Jenny glared as Cas, her bad mood back in full. "No," she almost growled out.
"Don't argue with me young lady, you need to eat your vegetables and that's final," Cas stated firmly trying to recall how James handled mealtime arguments. There hadn't really been mealtime arguments though, even back with his parents he'd known the rules about dinner time and hadn't tried to test them, at least he couldn't remember trying to test them.
"For Merlin's sake! Stop it, Castor! You aren't James! You'll never be James! You just sound stupid and pathetic when you try to copy him! You're a terrible substitute for James and you aren't the boss of me, I'm not going to listen to anything you have to say!" Jenny screamed at her brother. She grabbed her plate and flung it across the room, feeling a little guilty when Harry started crying, so she just stormed out.
For a second or two Cas didn't say anything, and he realised he was still waiting for Sirius to step in, but Sirius wasn't there to step in, he had to deal with it. "Go to your room right now," he ordered firmly. He wasn't calm enough to deal with Jenny right there and then, he needed to calm Harry down and decide how he was going to deal with this. He felt the urge to Floo Sirius and ask for help, but he couldn't do that, he couldn't stumble at the first hurdle, he had to prove he could handle it.
"Screw you, Castor! I'm already going to my bloody room!" Jenny screeched back.
Cas forced himself to focus on the now crying Harry and picked up the toddler. He bounced him as he walked back and forth rubbing his back and murmuring soothing nothings to the startled little boy. Wincing when the slamming of Jenny's door renewed Harry's cries just as he'd almost got him calmed down.
Harry finally calmed back down in Cas' arms and was soon down to just sniffles as he sucked his thumb.
Once Cas had Harry calm he checked Harry's dinner, he was done, so he took him into the living room and tapped his wand on the play pen, letting it expand before he popped Harry in it. "Cas has to go speak to Jenny; can you be a good boy and play in here for a little while before bath time Wingnut?" He told him still speaking soothingly.
Harry smiled at the appearance of his playpen and nodded, immediately getting up and hurrying over to his ball pit, "otay!"
Cas let out a long, slow, and calming breath, setting the wards on the playpen not to let Harry out, then to be extra safe he decided to ask one of the House Elves to keep an eye. "Bindi," he called.
Bindi, the Potter Nanny House Elf, appeared with a soft crack and a curtsy, "Master Cas is calling for Bindi," she greeted.
Cas gave Bindi a slightly tight smile, "could you keep an eye on Harry for me please, I need to talk to Jenny."
Bindi nodded, her large ears flapping as she did, "of course Master Cas, Bindi will watch over the Little Master Harry."
"Thank you, Bindi," Cas acknowledged. Satisfied Harry would be completely fine, he headed to the kitchen, picking up the wooden spoon that had never been used for cooking, before he made his way up to his sister's room. He needed to get the old playroom set up, but he hadn't expected to need to deal with Jenny today. It reminded him of the little red-headed Gryffindor first year he'd met last year, William Weasley, or Billy as he preferred. The eleven-year-old apparently had either six or seven younger siblings, Cas couldn't quite remember how many he said he had. It had saddened him a little that the eleven-year-old seemed to feel responsible for his younger siblings in an almost parental way, but now Cas could understand needing an extra hand or two if there were seven or eight kids – he was struggling with just two!
Jenny hadn't even begun to unpack out of protest, but she kind of wished she had just so she could throw things about. Cas was so unfair and was being a complete git! A small voice pointed out that actually Cas had been far more tolerant of her being a brat than Sirius had been and far more tolerant than James would have been. She told that voice to shut up, she didn't want to look at her behaviour. Besides it was all Cas' fault anyway, he decided to move them, he decided to uproot her life again and take her away from all her friends! He was an unreasonable, annoying, pain in the ass, git, who only wanted to utterly ruin her life and make her miserable, so he couldn't blame her for expressing herself.
Cas took a deep breath before he knocked once on Jenny's door then opened it and stepped inside. Feeling like a jerk, he tapped his wand on her door, removing it and sending it up to the attic. "You can have that back in a couple days. We don't slam doors in this house," he stated calmly.
"What the hell Cas? You can't just take my door! Give it back!" Jenny demanded.
"Saporsapo," Cas murmured pointing his wand at his little sister. He felt a little sorry for her, he'd been under this spell, and it was utterly gross, but he'd had enough of the bad language from his little sister.
Jenny gagged as her whole mouth was coated with the taste of soap, and soap bubbled out of her lips. She stared at Cas in shock, unable to believe he'd actually cast the mouth washing out charm at her.
Cas walked up to his little sister and spun her around before walking her to the corner, "you can stand there until you are ready to talk to me properly." He stood back, making sure she wasn't going to instantly whirl out of the corner before he walked over to her bed and sat on it. He wasn't planning on leaving her there for long, just enough to give her a chance to rethink her attitude and calm down somewhat. He had plenty of experience staring at corners, enough to know it was a good way of draining out anger, it was hard to remain angry when staring at the corner of a room.
Jenny was able to recognise that she'd pushed Cas too far, he'd even come into her room holding the wooden spoon! She didn't feel like directly defying him now, so she stayed in the corner. She tried to hold onto the indignation, anger, and annoyance she felt, but it was so boring just staring at the corner and the soap swirling around her mouth was making tears burn in her eyes.
When Cas finally saw Jenny's shoulders slump in defeat, he called her out of the corner. "Come here Jennifer," he summoned.
Jenny sighed and trudged over to Cas, still giving him the stink eye, not quite ready to drop everything, but hoping a show of compliance would prevent him from spanking her.
Cas raised an eyebrow, "can you speak to me respectfully and without swearing?"
Jenny huffed but nodded, "fine," she grumbled, though it came out a little garbled due to the spell.
Cas lifted the spell from his sister and for a moment he felt a little lost with what he was supposed to do, but he'd been through this part of the process enough times that he had experience to call upon. He might have been on the receiving end rather than the giving end, but he could still use it to guide him. "I know you aren't happy with having to move, but this is our home, I am legally your guardian, and it's not fair to Sirius and Remus to keep staying with them. You and Harry are my responsibility, and I wasn't going to just pawn you off to them, I love you and want to take care of you," he told her firmly.
Jenny felt a real stirring of guilt at that, and she dropped her eyes, staring down at her feet.
Cas reached out and placed a gentle finger under Jenny's chin, tilting her head up to maintain eye contact with her. "I didn't stop you sulking, and you can be as unhappy with me as you want, you have every right to feel however you feel, but you still need to treat me with respect and listen to me. I'm going to let the corner time and mouth soaping stand as your punishment for your attitude and swearing, but fair warning little sister, you keep this up and I will knock the attitude off for you," he scolded.
Jenny opened her mouth to say something, but really it was a pretty mild punishment for how awful she'd been to Cas… she couldn't give in completely though. "It's not fair though Cas, you're taking me away from my friends," she whined.
Cas would definitely rather Jenny didn't whine at him, but he decided to pick his battles, she hadn't shouted at him and there was no swearing, so he didn't get on her about the whine. "Jenny, we might have moved but I'm not stopping you seeing your friends, they can Floo over here anytime, or you can Floo to theirs. As long as Sirius and Remus are happy for you to, you can even Floo over to their house to play with them there if for whatever reason you don't want them coming here," he corrected his sister.
Jenny blinked in surprise; she had no idea why that hadn't occurred to her. She almost asked if she could invite them over tomorrow, but a glance at her missing door stopped her. She didn't want to invite them round when she didn't have a door, that would be far too embarrassing to ask.
Cas saw the look and decided to let Jenny save some grace, "give us a couple days to get settled in and set up and you can invite them all round for a sleepover," he offered.
Jenny lit up at that, "all of them? Connie, Clem, Dora, and Elle?"
Cas mentally grimaced a little at hosting a sleepover for four extra girls, one of them being the very spoilt Clementine, but worst come to worst he could send them all home if they were completely out of control. Dora, he knew he wouldn't have an issue with; Sirius' cousin's kid was being raised right by her mother and father, and Elle was a sweet kid, it would only be Connie and Clem he might have trouble with. "Yes, all of them, we can send them all an owl tomorrow inviting them over for Saturday, sound good?" He offered.
Jenny nodded grinning, her face fell a little as she saw her missing door again, "what about…" she started.
"So long as you can refrain from slamming doors over the next three days, I see no reason why your door won't be back where it belongs by then," Cas allowed. He was sure Sirius would accuse him of being a softy and say he was rewarding Jenny when she was supposed to be in trouble; but the main reason she was being so difficult was because she was under the assumption that he wouldn't be letting her see her friends, so he was just correcting that. She was still going to get a spanking for her behaviour at dinner and refusal to eat her peas, but Cas didn't see why he couldn't reassure her sister he wasn't a complete ogre as well.
Jenny threw herself at her brother, hugging him tightly, with the issue of being taken away from her friends sorted, living with Cas here in Potter Manor suddenly seemed like a fantastic idea. "Can you help me unpack my room and redecorate it?" She blurted out. Whilst this room was cute for a little kid, she was definitely too old for pink unicorns and Connie and Clem would never let her live it down if they came over to her having such a baby-ish room.
Cas hugged Jenny back tightly, "of course I will, I can't do anything as fancy as Lily could, but Sirius is a pretty decent artist, so if you want any mural type things, we will need to invite him and Remus over. That might be a good idea anyway because we can as Remus to keep an eye on Harry and then you, Sirius, and I can get your room set up just the way you'd like it." As much as he wanted to prove he could do it alone, he knew inviting Remus and Sirius over would work out for the better for them, so long as they invited them over regularly enough that should stop too many uninvited drop ins. Plus with Sirius' help, he could focus on carving Runes to alter any furniture pieces Jenny wanted changed, it was longer lasting than Transfiguration and significantly less magically draining than attempting permanent Transfiguration.
Jenny was less sure of having Sirius involved, but it would get her room how she liked it sooner rather than later, so she nodded in acceptance. "I don't think I want any murals; I just want it pink and turquoise and all white furniture," she listed. She'd seen a similar room design she liked in her Junior Witch Weekly subscription and had been tempted to ask Sirius to change her room in his house to be like it. She only hadn't because of Cas insisting they move to Potter Manor, so she didn't see the point. However, they were here now and not going to move again, hopefully anyway, so it was the perfect time to try out the style.
Cas didn't care if Jenny wanted her room to be an explosion of bubble gum and hot pink, he would agree to a lot more than that in exchange for her dropping her attitude. However, now that was settled, he knew he should probably get on with the reason he'd brought the spoon up with him, but Jenny's much happier and vastly more pleasant attitude and her asking for his help had him slightly considering not punishing her at all. It was very hard to convince himself he still needed to correct Jenny's behaviour, but the thought of Harry thinking throwing food around the room was acceptable was enough of a push for him. That and the look of disappointment he knew he'd get from Sirius and even Remus if they found out what happened today when they were over helping to decorate.
