Kemuel was known for many things.
A mother to her precious daughter, a loving wife to an overly dramatic, eccentric, goofball and a genius that is smarter than anyone, human or supernatural, CEO of a successful tech company -that she convinced her husband to start-, and a former high-ranking Angel of Heaven, a general on the frontlines during the Great War.
A mistake she wished hadn't happened, a shiver went down her spine just recalling the day she fell.
However, she wouldn't have met the man who helped her up from her despair and healed her all those years ago if she hadn't.
Kemuel could still recall how she and Heinz first met, the adventures they had and how she fell in love…
9 Years Ago
Kemuel looked at the blood that stained her armor and gauntlets with emotionless eyes, behind her were the corpses of Devils of the Old Satan Faction, Exorcists and fellow Angels alike, in an abandoned warehouse.
Rumor had spread throughout Heaven that they'd gotten bolder thanks to the Ouroboros Dragon becoming the leader of the terrorist organization known as the Khaos Brigade via her snakes that gave a power boost to those that held them.
Archangel Michael gave her a mission to investigate Devil activity in Switzerland that had been reported by one of the Exorcists before he had suddenly disappeared. More Exorcists from the Church along with a couple of Angels had been sent, but they never returned, leading to sending her alongside Griselda Quarta.
The rumors had been confirmed when they spotted a Devil presence in the warehouse alongside several stationed outside. They were unsure if these were Devils from the Underworld or the Old Satan Faction but they mentioned a 'Rizevim Livan Lucifer' and 'Khaos Brigade' which made it clear they wouldn't be sparing them. After disposing of them and making their way to the warehouse, the sight that greeted those who entered would haunt them for the rest of their lives, especially Kemuel, who had gone on a bloody rampage upon witnessing it.
She could still hear the cries of pain, begging to be put out of their misery.
Especially Mihr.
"How exciting! I never would have guessed I would get the attention of Griselda Quarta and such a decorated veteran of the Great War for my activities." Kemuel, followed by Griselda and their comrades entered the room. One of the Exorcists gasped upon witnessing the sight before her, but this only made their fury known to the Devil, who simply looked amused.
Corpses of Angels and Exorcists were littered across the warehouse, brutalized by this monster who had clearly taken the pleasure of torturing them before finishing them off.
It only angered Kemuel further.
"Speak, before I lay waste to your existence in the name of God." She heard Griselda demand authoritatively.
The Devil still looked amused , "Oh you know. Experimenting on and killing intruders while using their corpses as part of my experiment. Especially the Angels, they were the most interesting part of the operation!"
Kemuel nearly lunged forward and killed the Devil, only stopping when a hand grabbed her leg. The Devil started laughing maniacally.
"Tell me, 'heroes'. Can you bear fighting your friends and family? Those who are now part of my undead army?"
Suddenly, all the corpses in the warehouse began to slowly rise, Angels and Exorcists armed themselves.
"Sis.. ter... Griselda...?"
"PUT ME OUT OF MY MISERY, I CAN STILL REMEMBER THE TASTE!"
"KILL ME!"
"HELP! I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS!"
"ARRRGHHH!"
"Please... no... no... no...!"
Kemuel slowly looked back and saw a familiar face had grabbed her leg, she looked at the undead with widened eyes of pure fear, denying the identity of the person, as she couldn't believe this was real. She wanted to scream that this was all a dream and that she would wake up from this nightmare.
"B-Big... Sister...?"
"Mihr...!?" She cried out shakily.
"HAHAH! I like that look on your face, General Kemuu~eel~!"
Kemuel saw red, her wings flickering between white and black while her comrades began to panic.
"...uel!"
"...Kemuel!"
"La.. el..."
"Lady Kemuel!"
The white-haired Angel gasped, snapping her back to reality. The Angel turned around and saw her comrades look at her with uncertainty and concern. Griselda walked towards her with a grim look.
"Lady Kemuel," She began, gesturing to the various destroyed machines and equipment. "We have destroyed all the equipment and anything our enemies might need to replicate this... experiment. We have also gathered the deceased and are ready to depart."
Kemuel glanced at the building, reminded of her time during the Great War. She had fought numerous Devils and Fallen while her comrades fell in battle. Enraged at the reminder, especially considering what happened, Kemuel conjured a light spear and threw it at the warehouse, leaving only a crater. Her fellow Angels and the Exorcists gasped as her wings flickered once more, before they returned to their natural white.
"...Let's go." Kemuel's face bore a mad smile, making those around her uneasy, while Griselda simply understood what the high-ranking Angel was feeling. She nodded nonetheless, conjuring a magic circle and teleporting them away.
Heaven
"How is she fairing?" Gabriel asked. She, alongside another Angel, were currently at the heavenly equivalent of a hospital.
"It's not looking good," Sighed from a man with silver hair and blue eyes, Raphael of the Four Great Seraphs. "Kemuel has been unresponsive for the past few hours after reporting back from her mission. Mihr being turned into an undead must have left a great impact on her, especially as she has only just recovered from the casualties she witnessed in the Great War."
"There are more concerning things that need to be addressed," He stated. "According to Griselda, Kemuel has been going… feral. Her wings have also been flickering, there's a chance she'll Fall soon, the signs of which first appeared during her rampage two days ago. Due to her episodes, we've had to restrain her the best we can."
"I am surprised that after all she's been through, she hasn't Fallen yet.." Raphael said.
"Can I visit her?" Gabriel asked.
"Go ahead, she needs all the help she can get. We don't want to lose another sibling." Raphael smiled, gesturing towards the room where Kemuel was resting. "In the meantime, Michael and I, along with the rest of the Seraphs, will have a meeting with the Satans of the Underworld discussing the matter of the Old Satan Faction and the Khaos Brigade. You can join us when you're done."
She nodded at Raphael as he left. Gabriel opened the door and saw Kemuel lying motionlessly in bed. Gabriel covered her mouth when she saw her wings flicker. She immediately went to her side to comfort her.
Kemuel lifted her head but otherwise remained unresponsive, Gabriel sat next to her and reached out with an open palm, projecting a warm light to comfort the grieving Angel.
"It's okay." Gabriel whispered soothingly, putting her arm around Kemuel's shoulders. "Let it-"
Gabriel paused as she felt a cut on her left cheek, she brought her hand to where she felt it and stared at her own blood staining her hand. Her gaze landed on Kemuel's stretched out hand and widened her eyes at the feral expression on Kemuel's face. Kemuel for her part, despite her feral state, stopped and paled upon seeing what she had done to Gabriel, which seemed to bring her to her senses. Her expression was replaced with fear and panic at the sight of her now blackened six pair of wings.
'No...!' She choked.
She turned back to Gabriel, tears beginning to stream down the newly Fallen Angel's face. With her last act before Heaven banished her to the human world, Kemuel tackled Gabriel in a tight hug. The Seraph returned the gesture, rubbing the Fallen Angel's head in a comforting manner to ease her, whispering that she forgave her for her action, only making Kemuel cry louder.
Kemuel mouthed two words before she was banished from her home, her last sight before falling unconscious was Heaven's most beautiful Angel screaming her name.
"I'm sorry."
From that day; Kemuel, the Helper of God, fell from grace.
Human World, Italy
Lost.
She felt lost, it didn't help that she had fallen to the human world like a meteor. Her less than comfortable landing was situated in the forested outskirts of a nearby human city, keeping the residents mostly clueless to her presence.
She had no clue where to go other than joining the Grigori. Azazel himself had stated that it was a safe haven for all the Fallen Angels who fell from Heaven. She would forever miss everyone she knew there and could only think of all her deceased siblings and Gabriel's final comforting embrace.
She fell to her knees and slammed her fist to the ground in anguish as she sobbed in sorrow and anger, her other hand gripping her hair. The tears streamed down her cheeks, her chest convulsing in pain and misery.
'It's not fair...'
"Hey, you okay?" Kemuel stopped her weeping and saw a man with a flashlight had approached her, he stopped a few meters away from her. "I heard crying and―Oh wow, didn't expect that."
From the tone of his voice, this was likely his first exposure to the supernatural and a rather unfortunate one at that. She pitied this human, she just had to be here when she wasn't in her right mind. Moving faster than ordinary humans could react, she conjured a blade made of light to attack the human. To her shock, the human reacted to her movement and just barely dodged her lethal attack, instead lopping off his left arm. She stared in shock at the arm and then the human who hadn't cried out in pain. His elbow, where she had severed his arm, wasn't leaking blood but instead had wires poking out.
"Hey!" The human yelled, glaring in her direction. "I just got this replaced a week ago, you know? Now I gotta make my titanium arms more durab―WOAH!"
He narrowly dodged a swipe from her blade, "What did I ever do to you!?" He dodged another slash. "Ok, that's it."
Using his remaining arm, he grabbed an odd-looking firearm from his lab coat. Kemuel noticed him pulling it but knew it was futile, mundane weapons were useless against her. The human aimed and fired at the Fallen Angel who decided to take the hit just to show how futile his efforts were.
That was her mistake.
The beam hit her and suddenly her entire body was moving in slow motion, her hand reaching out. Kemuel, however, didn't care if her movement had slowed, all she cared about right now was killing this human.
He did the most logical thing in this situation, raising his hand and swinging it at her face...
…and slapping her.
"Wh-what...?" It somehow worked. Kemuel was snapped back to her senses, oddly enough, despite her whole body moving in slow motion, she could still talk normally.
"Normally I wouldn't slap a woman but you definitely deserved it!" He ranted. He walked over to his severed prosthetic and picked it up. "Who attacks people genuinely wanting to help them?"
"Look," He looked at her annoyedly, he raised his 'firearm' where she could see it. "I'll reverse the effects of my Slow-Motion-Inator if you've calmed down and don't attack me like a certain platypus I met in America, you get me?"
Kemuel blinked several times, her gaze landed on the prosthetic and then was left of the man's left arm. Being under the effect, she tried to nod quickly, but being in slow motion, it fell rather flat.
"See? That wasn't so hard." The man said happily, shooting her again with the Slow-Motion-Inator, undoing the effects. Suddenly, she became a blur and blitzed through the forest, mowing down multiple trees. "...That's gotta hurt."
Kemuel emerged from the bushes looking dirty but with no visible damage on her armor.
"Nevermind you look fine, despite how filthy your armor is." He remarked only to earn a glare from the Fallen Angel, he responded by raising his hands in surrender. "I'm joking! I'm joking!"
Kemuel softened her gaze. "I thank you for bringing me back to my senses, you are a rather bold human to pull it off. Especially after I severed your arm. For that I apologize."
"Eh, it's fine." He chirped, waving his severed arm like a toy, making Kemuel uneasy with how casually he's taking this entire situation. "Not like my arms are real, they're just prosthetics made of pure titanium. The real concern for me as of now is upgrading my titanium arms, synthetic skin and everything else against that magic stuff you supernatural people have and putting my arm back together."
"Anyway, why are you out here crying?" He asked, changing the subject from his arms to Kemuel's situation.
"I... I fell from Heaven." She said simply, looking saddened.
He raised an eyebrow. "Fell from what-now―Oh."
Kemuel gestured her thumb to her wings, twelve pairs of black feathered wings sprouting from her back. The man widened his eyes, gasping in realization pointing his finger at her wings. "A Fallen Angel!?"
"I want to say I knew that you were a Fallen Angel all along, but I can't, because I didn't." He deadpanned, Kemuel only stared at him with a raised eyebrow.
"So," Kemuel broke the silence. "May I know the name of the person who is stupid enough to help a Fallen Angel such as myself while I wasn't in my right mind? My name is Kemuel, former Archangel of Heaven."
"Hey, I'm not stupid! I'm a genius!" He retorted, waving his hands around. "Anyway, I'm not the kind of person who looks into Christian mythology and what-not but my name is Heinz Doofenshmirtz! Evil scientist enthusiast and an inventor of many Inators!"
Present Day, Kuoh
Kemuel wondered if it was fate that she and her husband had met on that day.
Aside from the rocky start when they met, he treated her with nothing but kindness and had done the best he could to be helpful. Azazel of Grigori came to visit the hotel they had been staying at in Italy with a proposal of joining the Grigori, with the benefits of offering resources towards Heinz as the condition.
"Your crazy inventions will be on everyone's radar and trust me, you do not want that to happen especially when this 'Un-Fallen-Inator' of yours along with people finding out you can literally make something that can do anything." She recalled Azazel's flabbergasted expression after a demonstration of the machine Heinz used on her on that day. She had been trying to keep all the Inators Doofenshmirtz made under wraps, seeing as her husband tended to show his inventions to the public and monologue about the reasons he made them in the first place.
She will do everything she can to keep her family safe and live a happy life with them, even if she has to fight her way through her brothers and sisters in Heaven to keep them safe, especially Vanessa, as she was what the Church called a 'Miracle Child'.
"Boss, you got a call from your husband." A voice interrupted her thoughts, she turned to her left and saw her intern, a man with an androgynous appearance, holding a phone out to her.
"Thank you, Riza." Kemuel thanked, he gave her a smile and went back to work.
"Yes, Heinz?"
"Oh hey, Kemmy!" Her husband sounded happy to hear her voice. "Uh, do you happen to know someone?"
"I may or may not know that someone if you can describe their appearance." Kemuel replied.
"I got this weird looking flier from a young woman in a pink magical girl cosplay when I was taking Norm to an anime convention. She was saying something about this flier granting my wish." He explained. The Angel stilled when he mentioned the 'pink magical girl cosplay'. "There was nothing harmful about it so I took it, not like I really believed it would do anything but I got bored so I tried it out anyway! I wished for Balloony and I to be reunited again, it gets weirder though! A magic circle appeared in my laboratory with the same cosplayer I met at the convention in the magic circle announcing herself as 'Miracle Levia-tan' or whatever. The circle she appeared in was a trap I was testing, so I activated it in a panic. She's currently with Norm in the living room playing video games with Issei and Vanessa along with a new friend they made on the way home. Her name is Ophis, by the way."
Kemuel felt frozen but her husband continued talking.
"Anyway, I am at the mall buying clothes for Ophis cause I wanted to have a word with her parents about why they let her dress like that if we ever met!" He ranted. "Only I found out she doesn't have parents, I actually thought of adopting her when I get home but I'll have to get her to approve it."
"Anyway, I'll be getting these paid for, so bye! I love you!" He hung up, leaving a speechless Kemuel, dropping the phone from nerveless fingers.
"Boss!" Riza rushed to her side, "Are you okay? You look rather pale―"
"I hereby order you to look after the company temporarily, you're in-charge." She ordered immediately and conjured a magic circle; at this point, she didn't care about displaying them to the mundane. She then vanished in a flash of light leaving a dazed Riza.
"Whahhh?" The intern stared at where his boss once stood.
