"Yeah, I understand. I understand, yep. Thank you."

Evelyn came in to meet Mac on the phone while Jonas shadowed after her. Upon ending the call, he flung the book in his possession towards the other side of the room in a fit of rage, causing her to flinch a bit.

"Let me guess, Morris never called anyone," Jonas said matter of factly while the female in front of him rolled her eyes.

Unreliable bastard-

"Didn't call anyone," Mac confirmed, "no one knows the shark's out there. No one. Not the Australians, not the Chinese. No one."

"The hell was he thinking?" Lori questioned.

"He wanted to make this go away as quietly as possible," Jonas implied. "And look where that has gotten him...Pretty sure he's probably been killed by now," Evelyn voiced, turning to the station chief, "Mac, you need to let-"

"Let everyone know, Yeah, I'm on it," he finished her sentence.

"Jaxx can you find that thing?" Jonas turned to the engineer.

"Wait, wait, wait. Why're you asking her that? I don't like the fact that you're asking her about that thing," DJ intervened.

"You want me to illegally hack into Morris' satellite tracking system to find a prehistoric shack?" The aforementioned asked, earning a curt "Yeah" from the man of the hour.

She shrugged and turned to her station to begin.

The crew then pitched in with agreeing to come along after Jonas spoke to Mac privately.

"Now let's get everything on it," Jonas announced as he walked out of Dive Control, "construction explosives, gliders. The whole lot. Everything."

"Because we're about to evac, right?" DJ indicated, "like evacuate? Like, leave the area of imminent danger and go to a safe place like normal people?"

"We're not normal, DJ," Evelyn grinned at him, backing away to follow the others, "We were never normal to begin with."

As she headed out, Jonas pulled her aside. He appeared worried, glancing around before his voice was reduced to almost a whisper, "hey, are you sure you're coming with us? I don't want to make you feel obligated to do any-"

She cut him off with a simple pat on his head, having to tiptoe in order to reach him, "aw, Jonas, I get that you're worried for me. But I'll be going either way. You, of all people, should know I'm stubborn as hell and would not back down from anything. I wanna see that titanic motherfucker bleed. You hear me?"

His lips twitched a bit. "I hear you loud and clear."

...

They were out at sea once more, with a ship even bigger than the CHARLOTTE, because it was a cargo ship.

Evelyn stood at the bow, peering out into the grey abyss in front of her. She now wore a tank top and cargo pants, accompeated by combat boots this time. Her toned arms were exposed to the frigid sea breeze, but it didn't faze her in the slightest. Her red hair was flowing freely in the zephyrs; she tried to calm her racing heart.

'I wanna see that titanic motherfucker bleed.'

Her nerves steeled.

Her legs proceeded towards the quarters where everyone else was present, moving aside the plastic covering to get through, and hearing his voice a few seconds later.

"What we get, Jaxx? Anything?"

"Yeah," the latter responded, indicating where the shark was last transmitted on her device, "here's where we saw Morris attack the shark. But here is where it's going."

"Sanya Bay. What's there?" Jonas read the map.

"Oh nothing. It only has some of the most densely populated beaches in the world," DJ's voice said matter of factly, as if everyone was supposed to know that.

"Which marks as a lovely all-you-can-eat buffet for the shark," Evelyn implied, "also, no one is going to take you seriously when you're dressed like that."

"It's just a precaution," he insisted, "until that thing is gone, I don't trust the ocean one bit."

"But you work in the middle of the ocean-"

"Any luck with the authorities?" Jonas redirected their attention to him as Mac joined them.

"No," the station chief responded, "Prehistoric shark sounds like a damn prank call. We can't rely on them for anything."

"How long until the shark gets to these people?"

"20 minutes."

"Can we get there first?"

"Doubtful," Jaxx and Evelyn responded at the same time.

"Yeah, we're gonna have to."

"Getting there first won't mean anything if we don't have a plan," Lori interjected.

"Maybe we have a plan."

He zoomed in onto an area on the screen while explaining his motives, "here's where we do it. Right here in the shallows. Use the gliders and go after it."

"Okay, so, how are we gonna get it here, when there's a beach full of people to eat right here?" Mac gestured towards the places Jonas and Jaxx had mapped out.

Suyin's eyes locked on with the redhead's, coming to a silent agreement as she pulled out her phone, playing the audio of a whale's song.

"You ask it out for dinner."

...

It was decided that Jonas and Suyin would man the gliders while everyone else stayed behind.

"Kinda wish it was you getting into the glider, huh?"

The question jarred her out of her thoughts as Jaxx turned to face her.

"What?" She scoffed, "n-no."

"Hm," Jaxx hummed, turning her attention to whatever she as fixing with DJ, placing Suyin's phone inside as she did so, "whatever you say."

"M-Maybe...Maybe a little," she confessed, "I just feel... like I need to be included in everything. But I'll leave it up to Jonas and Suyin. I have faith in them."

That last part came out with uncertainty.

She hoped that she was right about having faith in the plan.

She then trudged off towards the quarters while Jonas gave orders, paying close attention to the red dot that had supposedly represented the Meg.

Her eyebrows furrowed when she didn't see the red dot anymore, which had meant either of two things, the tracker dart came off due to some unforseen circumstances or the system glitched because water had gotten into it, but she doubted it was the latter.

"Um. guys, can you hear me?"

Silence...

"What's wrong with this thing?" She took it off and began hitting it against the palm of her hand, putting it back on afterwards.

She jogged out on deck, just as the gliders were lowered into the water, the whale song resonating through the sea.

"Guys, big problema," she panted, "the dart came off. We can't track it." "I don't think we need to," DJ pointed outwards, the shark's fin popping up as it gave chase to someone, speeding up behind them. Her intercom crackled just before she heard Lori scream from above her.

Finally, it works now.

"Mac!"

"Jonas, what's going on down there?"

'Trying to stay out of it's mouth.'

"What?!"

She watched as the fin disappeared under the waves.

Panicking slightly, she ran upstairs to the higher deck to get a better look, witnessing a glider changing direction and getting close to the ship, chased by the predator.

A sudden explosion splashed water onto the ship, suprisingly not dousing her from head to toe as it resided next to her.

'Anybody see it?'

Evelyn looked up and spotted a helicopter, no three, coming their way.

"Can't see the shark, but something's going on up here," Mac reported. "I can second that," she said, "three helicopters have decided to join the party." Jaxx and the others went to join Mac, seeing those choppers hovering over them.

Her attention went down as she saw the glider dash in the water, moving under the ship, having the shark pursue after it by swimming around.

A startled yelp, and the sound of metal screeching followed, sending a helicopter spiralling out of the sky and crashing into the open sea.

It had took her a double take, but without a second thought, she was bolting to the railings, another helicopter was spinning out of control as it aimed to have her head as a result of the collision.

She grabbed the railing and jumped overboard at the last minute, plummeting into the blue. She dove head first, eyes wide as bubbles blocked her line of sight.

Her lips parted once her lungs kissed air, but she only saw Meiying and DJ as far as her stinging eyes could let her.

Her ear suddenly rang as the intercom short circuited, briefly shocking her as it did so. She knew she had a faulty one, didn't take that long together to figure out. "I hate these things!" She ripped it off and left it to sink, swimming over to the two.

Something shot out of the water, and Evelyn's battle instincts kicked in. She surged out in front to protect the two, only to relax when she saw Suyin inside the glider when the water ran off.

"Girl, you know how glad am I to see you," she sighed out in relief, swimming up to climb onto the glider.

"Mummy, are you okay?" Meiying asked as she climbed onto the glider next.

"I'm okay."

"I'm okay too," the girl placed her palm on the glass, her mother copying her movements. The exchange was sweet, and was definitely worth watching.

The others had managed to find them and climb aboard, the relief turning into hopelessness as Evelyn could only look on, witnessing fire consuming away at the ship and ruining their plans.

"Hey Mac, pass me your intercom, or do you have a spare one?" She called, getting one mere seconds later.

In the distance, she saw the shark, as if it was mocking them, making futile attempts to kill it once for all.

"Jonas!"

"It's coming."

"Jonas," Evelyn called to him, "listen to me. We've got nothing left."

'Almost nothing.'

"How you're going to kill it?"

"Evolution. I'm gonna make this thing bleed."

Her eyes were saucers.

'I wanna see that titanic motherfucker bleed.'

He was seriously not going to take her words seriously... right?

'Suyin, what you said before, you were right. It's not about the people you lose, it's about the people you save... Signing off.'

"Jonas, wait!"

Radio silence...

Evelyn looked around frantically, spotting a fancy boat not far from where they were.

"Suyin! Over there!" She pointed wildly, "get us over there!"

Albeit confused, she complied.

As soon as they drew near, the others rolled off into the boat, which surprised a bunch of people on board, all dressed for a formal event. "Why aren't you getting off?" Suyin asked, realising she was the only one left.

"Your daughter needs you. We need to switch, now," Evelyn hurriedly spoke, "open the glider." "But what about-"

"I'll take care of that. Open the glass! We don'thave much time!"

The glass opened, and she got out, the redhead slipping into her place and wetting the seat underneath her. "Are you sure you can drive the glider enquired?" The chief marine biologist enquired.

"Let's... hope I remember how to drive this thing."

The glass closed before she submerged, heading towards the sudden vibration and shock wave that circulated in the water. She saw Jonas swimming with a mouthpiece on, looking at the giant shark as it sank, having other sharks tear off its flesh while practicing cannibalism.

"That's sick," she scrunched up her nose in disgust, but tilted the controller forward to get to him.

A hammerhead must have decided that he looked way too tasty as an appetizer because it started heading towards him.

The redhead arrived just in time to bump the shark's head aside, earning a wide eyed expression from the Meg killer himself. He dragged himself to hold onto the handle on the glider and the motor, giving her a nod out of gratitude.

"Hey, you saved us," she giggled, "it's the least I can do."

The two resurfaced, seeing Lori and the other members of the crew saving at them.

At a few metres across from them, a wet Yorkie was also swimming towards the boat, earning confused expressions from the two as to how it had gotten there in the first place, yet the gilder had pulled up first.

Jonas and Eve were instantly given towels and a hot drink, and sat with Suyin on deck. Meiying soon joined them, holding her own mug as she her mother sat down between Suyin and Jonas.

"Well," Mac raised his mug for a toast, "here's to being alive." "And to our friends." DJ added.

"Yes to that," Eve agreed, resting her head on Jonas' shoulder. "Are you going to fall asleep?" He joked, warping an arm around her shoulder. "No, "she snorted.

The four clinked their cups together as they colectively said, "cheers."

"I don't know about you two," Jonas started, "but, uh, I could use a vacation." "I second that," Evelyn raised her am arm. "Shall we ask my mom?" Meiying enquired, getting Jonas wriggling his eyebrows as an answer.

A contrast to what she had said, she had started dozing off, that she was safe in the protective arms of her best friend, and that she had faced her fear.
