Chapter 13: From Ruff To Ruff-er
The chaos at the country club continued, at least on the outside.
Eleanor's security system kept the ghosts outside the club's inner area, but due to low power, they can't expand to the outside.
"Looks like we're safe..."Eleanor said, still worried about those outside.
"Shall I tell the cleaning staff to get started on with the inside first or to be on standby until this show of unnecessary violence had ended?..." Her loyal assistant asked, while Eleanor gave it some thought.
"Hmmm...Let's see how this all ends and then proceed cleaning up this mess afterwards..." She answered.
"Of course, ma'am..." He quickly responded.
Outside
The battle between our heroes and the GiW was starting to cause bits and pieces of property damage on the club's property.
The teenage heroes knew that this fight couldn't continue any further than this.
"We gotta get rid of these two wannabe storm troopers, before they agitate Cujo again or hurt someone..."Danny said, worried they might get a lucky shot.
"Any ideas?..." Star asked, not wanting those dopes to actually hurt Cujo.
Danny considered all the options to end things with little damage as possible.
Then a brilliant idea came to him as he decided to take a chance.
"I think I do..."Danny said, as he quickly explained it to her.
Star's eyes widened as she now knew what he was about to do.
"You sure Danny?..."She asked.
"Not really, but may as well try now..."Danny said, preparing himself.
Once ready, he charged an icy fueled ball of energy in one hand and a very heated looking ecto-ball of energy in the other as he was about to try out a brand new move that he and Star had been practicing in secret.
Star grinned at this, she soon raced after him and stood right behind him back to back.
"Oh boy, this is gonna be so fun Danny-boo. And cool. Pun totally intended..."Star said, excited now.
"You bet, Starlight. Plus, I've been meaning to do it for a while..."Danny said, grinning.
He continued charging up his two polar opposites balls of energy in each of his hands. One with an intense and scorching bright green heat radiating from one hand and a snowy and bone chilling icy blue frozen wave of energy in the other.
Thankfully Star remembered to pack the Fenton Peeler with her.
"Glad I brought this..."She said, as she used it's armor faction to keep her safe from her boyfriend's ice and heat energy spheres.
The rest of Team Phantom were evacuating the remaining stragglers out of the club's grounds, since the indoors was the only safe place.
"Looks like Danny's about to close the curtains on the Jerks In White's showboating..." Jazz said.
"No kidding..."Sam said, but Jazz paused.
"Wait?..."Jazz said.
"What is it? Is someone in trouble?..."Tucker asked, worried.
"No...it's just...neither of you criticized me over the nickname I chose for those losers like you guys always do..."Jazz pointed out.
"Seriously, you're bringing this up now?..."Sam asked, eye rolling.
"Sorry, but I just had to wonder why you guys didn't give me grief this time?..."Jazz asked.
"Mostly because that nickname is actually appropriate in this case, plus any insult will do on those creeps..."Sam said.
"Uh...guys...can we do this later? Things are gonna get wild in here..."Tucker reminded the two girls.
Deciding to finish this later, the remaining members of Team Phantom continued to help the others get to safety.
While escorting everyone to safety and noticing Sam doing the same by starting with Eleanor and her assistant first. Also seeing Tucker pulling out his PDA aimed it at the government agents from a safe distance away and knowing the real reason why.
All this only confused the two government agents in white uniforms as neither was sure of what was about to happen.
"What are they doing?..."O and K both thought.
Before either of them made a comment about it, the ghost boy seemed all charged up and was about to make his move with two very icy and heated balls of ecto-energy with each in his respective palm.
"Alright, boys in tidy whitey's...thanks for waiting for the grand finally. Cause here it comes!..." Danny shouted, appearing to unleash all the charged up energy that he collected.
"That's not good!..."O said, while K agreed.
It wouldn't end well for them.
Star tried to take a picture of the terrified faces of the Guys in White's face, but the intense ghostly energy spheres from Danny made it difficult to do just that.
"I guess no photos this time..."She thought.
So, Star simply decided to just watch and hope that her boyfriend will successfully pull this new ghost ability that he was about to use on the government guys.
"Take cover!..."O shouted.
The GiW grunts quickly ducked and covered as they expected the ghost boy to fire two powerful blasts at them and that's exactly what Danny wanted them to think.
"So gullible..."He thought, smirking.
Instead, what Danny really did is focus on keeping the two balls of opposite temperatures on his palms and made them collide in on each other, which caused a very strong and thick turquoise colored mist to appear across the area.
"Perfect! Looks like the Phantom Mist is working!..."Danny thought, as it worked.
The mist was so thick that it was quite difficult to see through, so difficult that one couldn't even see their own hand in front of their face... which is exactly what the GiW were experiencing right now.
They tried to stand and survey their respective surroundings, only to find out that they have no idea where they are through all this strange mist that the ghost boy created.
"WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?!..."O shouted, unable to see anything.
"I CAN'T SEE ANYTHING!..."K shouted, the mist making it hard to see anything.
They tried to find one another, only to miss each other a few times and having to rely on their other senses besides sight to navigate through the strange mist.
"O, where are you?! Did the ghost kid sent us into some sort of subspace that only ghosts can navigate through? I can't see a thing!..."K shouted.
"Me neither! I can hear you just fine. I just can't see where you are, or myself for that matter!..."O shouted, hating this.
The two kept trying to search, but nothing has changed so far. They were starting to freak out now.
"Please tell me that the ghost kid didn't literally blast us into the afterlife! We'll never get our suits back from the dry cleaners if that's what actually happened to us!..."O said, a bit stressed out and missing the much bigger picture of their current situation.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..."K yelled, also missing the point.
"What does mean about out raises and promotions?!..."O yelled, as he just remembered that.
"This can't be real!..."K yelled, even louder than before.
The two government men in dirty white suits continued their overly dramatic panicking for quite some time, not aware that they were being watched from above.
Back with Danny and Star
Once the ghost boy finished creating that vision blocking "Phantom Mist", that he and Star decided to name.
They fled the area, and were now reevaluated their situation.
"What a bunch of idiots..."Star said with a chuckle, as she couldn't believe their idiocy.
"You can say that again, Starlight..." Danny replied, before he picked his blonde girlfriend in a bridal fashion.
"Come on, we have about half an hour before the Phantom Mist starts to fade away. And I'd rather not have to deal with two knuckleheads after that..."He continued, while his blonde girlfriend pretty impressed with the end results.
"All things considered, I'd say that this practice run was a huge success, Danny-boo..." Star said, looking at the brighter side of things.
She tried giving her boyfriend a quick kiss on his cheek, but ended up pressing the glass part of her helmet from the Fenton Peeler armor on his face instead.
"Uh...sorry..."She went.
This slightly embarrassed Star as she deactivated the Fenton Peeler, but quickly caused both her and Danny to laugh at what just happened.
"Come on, it's funny. Besides, that armor made you look appealing..."He joked.
"That was terrible pun..."His girlfriend said, despite still snickering at his pun.
"Well, you set me up for it. Now let's head back to the other's and go back to looking for Cujo..." Danny said, and his girlfriend nodded.
Danny continued carrying Star in a bridal fashion and quickly flew each other out of the mist. All the while, they watched the GiW blindly tried to find their way out of the "Phantom Mist"...and failing.
Later
Danny and Star were still in the air, looking around.
As they tried to find Cujo, they kept talking and commenting over the success of Danny's latest move.
"That new Phantom Mist move of yours worked out way better than I thought it would, Boo..."Star said.
"I'm just glad that this time I didn't flood the place, although I still need to improve the speed in making the whole thing..."He said, before recalling urgent matters.
"Now all I need to work on is Cujo..."Danny said, before his and Star's attention was briefly distracted by something else.
They spotted their friends and landed, and even from here they could hear the jerk agents screaming, and making crashing sounds, as well as freaking out.
"SOMEONE GET US OUT OF HERE?!..."One of them shouted.
With a couple of laughs coming from our heroes after witnessing the government agents falling, bumping, tripping stumbling over some unseen obstacles in their way, clearly amused by the whole thing. Especially since they saw better details thanks to Tucker's PDA.
"Hilarious..."Sam said, unusually happy.
"They'll need therapy after this traumatic experience is over..."Jazz said, still a therapist at heart. "Not that I'd take either of them as client..."She said, since she still didn't like those creeps.
"I'm so glad that I upgraded my PDA to record video through deep fogs and mists. Still, this weird mist does make it hard to see through it..." Tucker said, trying to keep his camera on the GiW's funny antic of falling and bumping into random objects.
As much fun as it was to see the enemies of Team Phantom make fools of themselves even more than usual, one of our heroes remembered why they were here to begin with.
"This is super funny and all, but what about Cujo?..."Star asked, reminding them.
"Oh, right..."Danny said, mentally kicking himself for getting distracted like that.
The teens looked around and didn't see a monster dog or hear destruction...which means one thing.
"He must have changed back...but why?..."Danny asked.
They soon heard barking and Star got an idea.
"I'll give you three guesses..."She said, as she figured out where the little ghost dog might have gone.
To find his canine sweetheart, wanting nothing more than be side by side the one he loves.
Meanwhile
Cujo had been angry, and the food from this place was just bland and tasteless. He was now by the tennis courts and still angry.
However, Fifi kept trying to get his attention and even tried howling at him. Remembering how useful it was last time.
"Cujo, please calm down. I'm here, I'm right here with you!..."Fifi called out.
The sound of her voice and her beautiful howling calmed Cujo down and got him to spot Fifi much easier. Once he phased through a couple of broken and ruin decorative outdoor furniture and tables, the green ghost dog was now face to face with the beautiful poodle.
Cujo morphed back and looked at the mess he causes and then got a little embarrassed with his recent actions.
"Umm...sorry for crushing the party..."He said, looking sheepish.
Fifi giggled.
"You certainly know how to make an unforgettable entrance..."She said, trying to lighten the mood.
This cause Cujo to perk up and wag his tail in happiness at being reunited with Fifi. However, Lord Wintrhop and the Barrington-Uphams had saw Fifi with the little ghost dog and they were both at a loss for words.
They had run out here to get away from the ghost attack and Fifi runs off TOWARDS the ghost. They couldn't believe it.
Nothing was making sense today to the rich couple and they both got upset.
"What is heaven's name is going on?!..." Barrington-Uphams thought to himself, as he had no idea what was happening and was too freaked out to ask anyone or move.
His dog mirrored his owner's emotional distress from head to paw and curled down tail.
"I shouldn't have made this foolish servant fire my last bodyguard, now that I actually need a human meat shield..."Winthrop whimpered, as he wanted someone to protect him from the giant green beast.
He was scared, not hesitant to abandon his owner to save himself at a moments notice.
However, Cujo was small and calm now and he wasn't sure yet if they were still in danger now.
All the while, Cujo saw Barrington-Upham and the rich man was scared. And smelled how tasty the aristocratic man's shoes were...That and the fact that the rich man was unknowingly sitting next to some meat that fell on the ground during the chaos.
"Oh boy, steak!..."Cujo said, getting hungry again.
Walking up, his front legs pawed at the expensively dressed man as he tried to reach the meat but the rich couple panicked and got the wrong idea.
"Get off! This suit is worth more than you'll ever be!…"He shouted, as he was even more afraid.
Feeling insulted, Sir Barring-Upham reeled his leg back.
Just then, Team Phantom arrived.
"There's Cujo..."Star said, only to see in horror what was about to happen.
Danny and Star gasped in horror as the rich jerk kicked Cujo in the face.
"NO!..."They shouted, but it was too late.
If the foot had not gone through the ghost dog with no effect, they'd have called the police.
However, Cujo understood the full intent and growled with a green glow, as he could sense the hostility and it made him angry.
"RRRRGGGGHHH!..."Cujo went, as he changed back into his monster form.
The aristocrat gulped upon seeing this, realizing now that was a big mistake.
"In retrospect...maybe that wasn't the best idea..."He said, as his wife glared at him.
"YOU THINK?!..."She shouted, angry at her husband for his stupidity.
Their dog, Lord Winthrop panicked again. He was more like a scaredy cat than a dog as his fur stood up at all ends out of fear before he ran away.
"MAMA!..."He barked, as he tried to immediately ran away and leaving his owners to fend for themselves.
However, Sir Barrington-Upham strapped in his safety dog leash beforehand.
"Good boy, Lord Winthrop. You show that ghastly mutt who's boss..."He said, misunderstanding his dog's intentions.
Then the disgraceful male poodle tried to bite and chew the leash off and make his escape by himself.
"I regret nothing!..."He shouted, before running away with his tail between his legs.
Literally.
"Lord Winthrop!..."The rich couple shouted, as they ran after him.
The doggie couple saw this and while their shared disappointment of the male poodle just got lower then before, they couldn't care any less for that excuse of a dog.
"Such a disgrace as man's best friend..."Cujo said, disappointment evident at his face.
"Indeed..."Fifi said, disgusted with his cowardice.
"Let's get out of here, before something else that's disappointing interrupts us..."He said, and Fifi agreed, the ghost dog and his lovely companion try to make their getaway.
However, that is when the Guys in White, who finally got out of the "Phantom Mist"returned.
After so many painful accidental slip ups that eventually lead them out of it and looking worst for where, they were back and madder than ever.
"Stop, ghost mutt! You're not getting away this time!..."Agent K said, as he aimed a weapon at the ghost dog.
"Just play nice and no one gets hurt, except maybe you!..."O said, as he fired.
He missed Cujo and almost hit Fifi.
"SACRE BLEU!..."Fifi went as the shot simply singed a bit of her puffy fur.
"FIFI!..."Cujo exclaimed.
"FIFI!..."Star shouted in worry, before getting angry. "You almost hit her!..."She shouted.
"We were aiming at the other stupid dog!..."K said, not caring.
Star growled.
"Just when I couldn't hate them more..."She said, furious.
However, she wasn't the only one angry here. Cujo saw how they almost hit Fifi with their carelessness.
This angered the ghost dog and made his eyes glow redder than they already were.
"It's one thing to be mean to me, but they are going too far!..."He said, more furious than ever.
"Cujo?..." Fifi asked, as he seemed angrier now.
"Just a second..." He went.
Cujo took notice of a nearby stand meant for flowers. Taking it in his mouth, he tossed it to the Guys in White. They fired at it, allowing Cujo to get the drop on them. Using the debris as a shield, he tacked into the two, sending them flying into the wall.
"AHHHHHHHHHH!..."Both agents went upon the hit.
Team Phantom saw this and Star smirked.
"Serves them right..."She said, as them reeling in pain kept them busy long enough.
"The dogs?..."Danny said, as they were already gone.
"We really need to keep a better eye on them..."Tucker said, since this is getting frustrated.
The others said nothing, as they tried to go after them.
Meanwhile
Cujo and Fifi tried to make a ghostly getaway, which they both remembered that the female poodle couldn't go through solid objects.
"Right...gotta avoid phasing...move around solid stuff, so that Fifi doesn't get pushed off. In that case, let's go with plan B..."He went.
Cujo kneeled down and made sure that Fifi climbed on him safely, and keeping a watchful eye on everyone else from trying to stop them. Lord Winthrop was long gone as well as his snobbish owners and the equally soiled skinny French man that wasn't here now.
Once Fifi was safely on top of Cujo's back and also made doubly sure that she won't fall off. The doggie lovebirds then tried to make their escape. The ghostly canine ran away, trying to save Fifi from the trigger happy guys in white before they started shooting again.
However, they were back.
"Freeze, flea bag!..."O and K shouted, having recovered.
"Not them again. Hold on, Fifi!..." Cujo said. "I promise you that I won't let these humans hurt you!..."He said.
Fifi, however, was not worried for her safety but Cujo's. Clearly, these were dangerous humans, and they weren't kidding around. They wanted to hurt her friend, and that frightened her.
"Be careful, Cujo..." Fifi whispered.
"Come on, Beautiful. Where's the trust? This ain't my first rodeo. That being said, I've never actually been to a real live rodeo before..." Cujo replied, taking the situation only a little lightly.
"Neither have I..." Fifi responded.
"Good! That just means that we both have something to look forward too seeing together..." Cujo replied, which dodging incoming blasts and maneuvering around solid objects.
Running past a few patron that had fainted from frightening display that Cujo showed off. Which included Lord Winthrop and his owners, who were desperately trying to find a hiding spot AWAY from the ghost dog.
However, they saw him again and panicked.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! LEAVE ME ALONE, I'M TOO VALUABLE TO DIE!..."Winthrop screamed as he ran away, while his owners also fled.
Seeing them run away in terror, Fifi barked out of joy and excitement, especially with Cujo right by her side.
"Well done, Darling. I know scaring others isn't very nice but you do not know the kind of agony it was listening to that blowhard talk so much about worthless things like his pedigree and his routinely grooming regimen. It was so boring!..."Fifi said.
"Happy to help, that fancy pants poodle noodle seemed as equally hard to deal with like that mean human that tried to kick me. At the snobby human had tasty shoes to chew on..."Cujo said, as he remained in his bigger form since he wanted to get Fifi to a safe place.
The giant ghost dog then saw an opportunity for the two of them to make their escape and decided to take it.
"So...how about you and I head off to see more of this town...maybe I can show you how to have some real fun..."Cujo offered.
"No need to ask me twice. So, what are we waiting for? Let's go!..."Fifi said, wanting nothing more than to leave before that loud mouth dog comes back.
The two dogs ran out together, while his powers of invisibility to hide both himself and Fifi from being chased down by her owners. It was a quick exit through the wall and they were gone.
Not that they left without a scene. Cujo dispersed the disappearing act as he carried Fifi on his back.
All the while, the Beviers were both hiding nearby from the chaos and looking for Fifi.
"I'm just glad Maddie gave us some extra specter deflectors..."Stella said, having put hers on and made Jean Luc do the same.
"Such a tacky thing, it doesn't even match my suit. I this piece of junk didn't protect us from those ghastly ghosts then I wouldn't have bothered to even consider the very thought of wearing such an eyesore..."Jean Luc criticized.
"I have told Maddie that gold, silver or even a nice ocean blue printed coating would compliment it more, but being fashionable wasn't their priority. Apparently, she prefers having her inventions be practical and functional than stylish..."Stella said, before shaking her head.
"What am I saying, we gotta get Pierre to safety..."She said, worried about her youngest child's safety than discussing about fashion design for the Fentons.
However, she noticed that someone was missing.
She knew that Star went to look for Danny then head toward somewhere safe, but there was someone else that's missing. Someone that Stella also cares deeply about too.
"What are you waiting for? Let's go already!..."Jean Luc said, wanting to leave this very second.
"Where's Fifi?!..."Stella asked, as she held her son in her arms, and realized that she wasn't here. "I thought you were holding onto her leash..."She went.
The French man didn't bother answering her, since he was far too concerned with his own safety.
However, she then heard barking.
Stella saw her dog, and gasped in relief.
"There she is! What is she doing?..."She said, before gasping when she saw that she was with the ghost dog.
"Oh my goodness, that monster dog is with her. We gotta save her! Fifi!..."Stella said, while her husband couldn't possibly care any less about the dog.
"It'd be easier to buy a new dog..."Jean Luc said, hoping to be too low for Stella to hear.
His wife didn't hear him as she tried to call Fifi and get her dog's attention.
"Fifi, please be a good girl come over here!..."She said, happy to see her pet and trying to get her away from what she thought was a dangerous ghost.
While frightened of Cujo's form, she would not risk losing her precious Fifi. Immediately, she clicked her tongue and clapped her hands, beckoning the poodle to come and hoped to grab her and run as far away from here as possible.
"Fifi! Fifi! Come here, come to mommy!..." Stella tried, as she called out to her favorite dog in the world.
Fifi frowned and ignored her as she continued to run away with Cujo, shocking Stella.
"Fifi!..." Pierre called out with a watery look in his eyes.
"Where is she going?!..."She exclaimed, now running after them.
However, they were already gone and vanished right before her eyes with invisibility.
Outside
With our favorite dogs
The two dogs had fled from the country club, running through the green grass as the ghost dog barked in joy, biting at the wind in feral instinct.
"Now this is fun..."Cujo said, only to see notice that his lady friend didn't seem happy right now.
"You okay?..."He asked. "Those mean humans with the loud things didn't hurt you, did they?..."He asked, worried.
"No, I am fine...just...exhausted..."Fifi said, happy to be away from that club.
However, a part of her was still upset, evident by her curling into her friend's back.
"Fifi...seriously, what's wrong?..."Cujo asked, concerned about her.
His lady friend gave in as she uncurled herself and stretched. With a huff, the lady decided to vent, rolling onto her back as she gazed at the clouds.
"I still cannot believe that Madame tried to set me up with that repulsively annoying and pathetic excuse of a poodle. He is almost as pathetic as that that sorry excuse of a man she calls her mate!..."Fifi said, happy to get away from that pompous poodle.
"Was he really THAT bad?..."Cujo asked her.
"Undoubtedly. That dog probably chases his own tail because it's the only thing he hasn't chased away with all of his talking..."Fifi said with distaste, regretting ever meeting a joke.
"Don't worry, Beautiful. Even without me around, I've got a strong feeling in my gut that tells me that you can definitely handle yourself around that sorry excuse for a dog..."Cujo said, as spoke confidently and kind.
This cheerful pep talk from the green ghost dog greatly helped lift his lady canine's mood.
"You might be right, especially after today..."Fifi said, showing off her more free spirited part of herself.
"And if those mean man ever gives you trouble again, you let me know and I'll make sure that they learn how to behave themselves. Same with that mean poodle who bothered you..."Cujo said.
Fifi smiled at that.
"Thank you..."She said, touched by his kindness.
"Anytime, Beautiful..." He said in response, as he decided their next move.
"Come on, let's go somewhere else and get some real food to eat. The stuff from that place was way too bland and tasteless. And I have my doubts that if they actually eat these things..."Cujo said, wanting to share a much better meal with Fifi.
"I thought you'd never ask, Darling..."Fifi said, wanting to put the incident with Winthrop and those mean humans behind her.
The two dogs fled the area, running away together and hopefully find a place that will fill their stomachs. Although, neither of them were picky since what they really wanted was to be close to each other.
And away from Winthrop and Jean-Luc, as well as the Guys In White who were trying to hurt Cujo.
Now, they were finally alone together, just as they wanted.
However, even as they flew, those disgraced GiW grunts were growing quite the grudge against Cujo and Danny Phantom...and wouldn't back down yet.
