Mon casually strolled the streets of Metropolis in casual clothes. Despite his informal attire, human civilians gawked at him as he went past them. Humans would give him a double take, get out of his way, or scream in terror. Mon smiled enjoying the attitudes around him. It was something he was never afforded in the 21st century when he was a nobody. As he went for an enthusiastic walk, Mon went into his inner monologue.
"My life is Insane. I used to ask myself a lot of questions about that. Mon, you're a genocidal maniac, how are you a Vindicator? Why are you time-traveling with that Kryptonian bitch? That doesn't make sense. A lot has changed about my life but everywhere I go, people ask me the same thing," Mon said to himself.
"Please don't kill me," a hippie with his dog said fearfully as Mon went closer to him.
"Mon, what's next? Where does the ride take me? If I knew that, it wouldn't be a ride unless the ride is my so-called wife in which it ends predictably in manic expressions of joy and tears," Mon said to himself and then gave a random gawking kid a high-five.
Mon entered a coffee shop to the surprise of the personnel in charge. "It's been a queer few years, for everyone."
"Everything is ready for you," the shopkeeper said stunned.
"You're too much," Mon smiled as he took his tall coffee and didn't bother to pay for it like a total asshole.
That day, Mon had lunch with Brainiac 5 outside where various patrons gawked at them. He then went to an ice cream shop and didn't pay there either. "I could have made this ice cream shop possible without you," Mon told all the personnel.
"Now, I had the worst luck because I met Kara Zor-El. I think you know who she is. She's taken over her sister's planet. Now, she's instituting global change. A lot of people say they want to save the world and they're usually full of shit. But, Kara, she saves it one death at a time," Mon said to himself.
That evening, Mon and Kara walked the red carpet as Kara accepted the Earth Humanitarian Award, an award she made up for herself. "Thank you, thank you so much," Kara smiled to the crowd.
"Reforestation, affordable housing, food production, she's not wasting a second. I still can't believe it. None of this should have happened, but it did. It's a pretty good world. I'm glad she's having fun with it before I sell it to the highest bidding warlord when she's not around," Mon smiled at that thought.
At the palace, Mon was sort of a supportive father. He would have condescending chats with Mara before bedtime. With accelerated growth, Mara appeared to be around 10. "Do I miss the action? Sometimes," Mon mused.
"Will you be there when the Vindicators need you?" Mara asked adorably.
"Absolutely. I would never turn my back on them, but right now I just want to be the best father I can be. I love you, Mara. Thanks for being my hero," Mon said to her. Mara stared at her father wide-eyed not realizing that Mon was trying desperately to one-up Kara in the parent department.
"I'm sorry I missed all your birthdays. I had to look out for the little guy," Mon lied.
"It's okay, Daddy," Mara said forgivingly.
"Word of advice, Mara. Make mistakes, take chances, because if life has taught me anything, it's that there's always an Insane solution to every problem," Mon said.
"Like clearing out homeless people from the park with tear gas?" Mara questioned.
"It depends. If you're doing it, on your own, for funsies then yes. If you're doing it because you're the arm of the state, then you're just an authoritarian tool," Mon answered.
"So, what do I do?" Mara asked curiously.
"Do whatever you want," Mon said irresponsibly. "But you should wear a suit to protect yourself from bad guys. Also, it makes you look cool."
"I want a talking raccoon," Mara blurted out.
"It shall be done," Mon nodded seriously.
The next morning, Kara, Mon, Brainiac 5, Shalu, and Mara sat down for some pizza. Kon was doing his own thing while Tinya was going through some rehab on how to be a "good guy". "I missed this," Shalu sighed.
"No pizza in the quantum realm?" Kara assumed.
"No, no anything," Shalu said with a haunted look.
"Want to talk about it?" Kara asked curiously.
"I spent three years down there. Can I live, right now? Is that okay?" Shalu asked, stressed out.
"She's already been debriefed," Brainiac 5 said to Kara.
"And you haven't told me shit," Kara said frustrated.
"Family meeting," Mon ordered. "We need to discuss our invasion plan for the quantum realm."
"Why do you suddenly give a shit, Mon? There's no one for you to kill down there," Kara mocked.
"I'm only interested in killing this Kang character," Mon told her off.
"I want to show you my ant colony," Mara brought up.
"Yeah, let's go see it," Mon said supportively.
In Mara's room was an ant colony only these ants were sophisticated. The ants were busy making their own city with lights and transportation systems. "Are you doing this?" Mon asked Brainiac 5.
"Actually no, they're building their own tech," Brainiac 5 said.
"What's this?" Kara asked of a device on Mara's desk. "Uncle Barney and I have been working on a quantum realm device."
"Really?" Mon asked, giving Brainiac 5 a look.
"She had some questions. I can't help it if she's inspired by my genius," Brainiac 5 said defensively.
"So, you've been studying the quantum realm," Shalu said apprehensively.
"Mara just needed some pointers," Brainiac 5 said.
"This goes way beyond the ant science we agreed upon," Kara said, giving Brainiac 5 a dirty look.
"The quantum realm is kind of dangerous," Shalu said wide-eyed.
"The quantum realm is another plane of existence, another universe. That's how Shalu, Kang, and Uncle Barney all ended up in the same place. If it were just getting smaller, the distance between all three people would expand dramatically to the point of impossibility," Mara said. "So, Uncle Barney and I developed a map of the quantum realm."
"Your daughter built a subatomic Hubble Telescope in her room," Brainiac 5 explained to Kara and Mon.
"It's amazing. I'm blown away. I am so supportive of you right now," Mon said to Mara with false sincerity. "How does it work?"
"I send a signal to the quantum realm and then it bounces back like sonar," Mara explained.
"You know...Kang is going to be able to detect your signal," Shalu brought up. "You should probably shut it down."
"It's our expectation Kang will detect the signal and attempt to bring us to his position," Brainiac 5 said simply. "Otherwise, we may have to travel a large distance in the quantum realm to get to him."
"So, you're baiting him? Is that what you're doing?" Shalu asked incredulously. "What if you get trapped down there?"
"We have the technology now to retrieve people from the quantum realm," Brainiac 5 downplayed. "Also, anyone inside your energy field will be able to shrink or grow. That's why your clothes didn't fall off you when you shrank the first time."
"I don't think you understand. Kang may be an ordinary human but in the quantum realm, his density is that of a neutron star. He will be practically invincible," Shalu warned.
"But not the toys he's been building down there. We destroy his toys and leave him behind, but I want to smack him around for good measure," Mon said confidently.
A blue orb suddenly floated above Mara's machine and then started sucking them all in like a black hole. In quick order, everyone started shrinking down to the quantum realm. For Mon, he slammed into Mara's ant colony sending ants in all directions. Kara, Shalu, and Brainiac 5 all bounced into each other as they continued to shrink. Mon reached out to Mara but they were shrinking too fast for him to get to her. Mon teleported to Mara's position, took hold of her, and then they shrank down to the quantum realm. The two of them slammed into the rocky ground.
Mon and Mara got back up now in their respective suits. Mon was in his Insane armor while Mara wore an inverse Supergirl suit of her own. The costume was white except for the House of El symbol which was black. Looking around, Mara used her X-ray vision to see around her. All around her were mini-black hole event horizons swirly gas around them. Energy pillars of electrical charges sprung from the ground to the sky. The terrain was rocky with deep canyons.
Mon put on goggles so he could see. He couldn't help but notice he no longer needed to breathe and speaking would be impossible at this level. Mara utilized sign language to him. "Where are we?"
Kara and Brainiac 5 found themselves in a different spot. Kara was now in her black Supergirl uniform. Using X-ray vision, Kara and Brainiac 5 were able to see their surroundings. "Find Shalu and the others," Kara signed to Brainiac 5.
The two toured around the rock pillars of the quantum realm when a scout ship scanned the area. Shalu suddenly grabbed Kara and Brainiac 5 and hid them behind a rock pillar as the scout ship went past them. "We need to find the others," Shalu signed.
"No shit," Kara signed back.
Mon and Mara casually walked about the quantum realm out in the open. "We're okay, we're fine, we'll find the others, kill this asshole, and then go home," Mon signed to her. "It's like camping."
"We've never gone camping," Mara corrected.
"But we did talk about it," Mon excused.
Mara suddenly went to a knee and went Super Insane in a burst of energy. "I feel sick," she said distressed.
"You're creating a positive feedback loop. Your energy is increasing your mass which will crush your body into a singularity. Power down," Mon ordered.
Mara focused and then powered down to her lowest level. "That's better," Mara said relieved. A virus then appeared in the sky floating about. "What is that?" Mara questioned. With a hydrogen atom at 5cm in diameter, the virus appeared 17 meters in diameter and fast approaching them. The virus sprung out tentacles to grab a hold of them.
Mon cocked his fist back and punched the virus causing it to explode on impact. Its composite parts fell on the ground as individual molecules. "That was weird," Mon remarked.
An amoeba creature then tore through the ground and appeared to go after them. This creature appeared purplish translucent with its nucleus glowing yellow. It was 500km in diameter overwhelming their field of vision as it floated above them. The size of the creature was larger than any ship Mon had ever encountered in his travels. "Holy shit," he said amazed.
An energy beam suddenly hit the amoeba and blasted it apart showering them with amoeba guts. Several individuals the same size as Mon and Mara revealed themselves. They were all Immsk people, the same as Shalu. They all carried melee and energy weapons with one in particular having an energy cannon for a head, presumably a drone of some kind. It was this drone that had destroyed the amoeba. Relative to its size, the drone's firepower was incredible.
"The Immsk people," Mara figured.
"Yeah," Mon confirmed. "We come in peace," he lied and held up his hands.
Kara, Brainiac 5, and Shalu continued to make their way across the wasteland of the quantum realm. "What the fuck was that?" Kara asked.
"Well, we have a long way to go and a lot of time to talk about it," Shalu considered. "That was one of Kang's scout ships."
"I've studied the quantum realm for years and yet I have not discovered this level of detail," Brainiac 5 mused.
"You didn't go deep enough," Shalu smirked.
"Oh, snap," Kara mocked.
"Aside from my people, the Immsk, the only life we'll find is viruses and bacteria," Shalu explained.
"So what happened to all the viruses and bacteria on our bodies when we shrank?" Kara asked confused.
"They shrank down with us. In a hydrogen atom, the nucleus, the single proton's diameter is 60,000 times smaller than the outer edges of the electron cloud. The quarks are ten-thousandth the size of a proton. So much empty space," Shalu explained.
The Immsk people brought Mon and Mara to their civilization. The Immsk people wore heavy clothes and cloaks. Their buildings were several floors high, roughly the size of a small virus. They appeared to be a warrior culture or deeply paranoid as they all pointed weapons at them. Mon humored the situation as it wasn't the plan to annihilate Shalu's people.
"I am Veb. How many holes do you have?" the leader asked Mon.
"I don't think that's any of your business," Mon told him off.
"He's Mon-El and he has seven holes," a telepathic Immsk said as he walked up to him. "I am Quaz, a telepath."
"You look weird as fuck," Mon remarked.
"I know. I read your mind," Quaz allowed.
"I just found it helpful to express that publicly," Mon smirked.
"What the fuck you doing here?" Quaz asked.
"I'm Insane from Earth. I'm here to kick ass on Kang," Mon told him.
"We're from the big house," Mara said helpfully.
Quaz gave them an odd look. "Okay, they're telling the truth."
"It doesn't fucking matter. You came from above, like Kang, so he'll hunt you," Jentorra said ominously.
"That's the whole idea," Mon nodded.
Elsewhere, Shalu, Kara, and Brainiac 5 encountered an Immsk caravan patrol. They were also armed with machine guns and melee weapons. The caravan moved across the ground with the help of white air balloons that matched the desert terrain.
"I'll handle this," Shalu said to the other two. Shalu gave the leader a big hug without incident. "I have directions now."
Kara picked Shalu up and then flew them into the air with Brainiac 5 following them. The three flew to a large Immsk city over mountainous terrain. "Intelligent beings on this scale. I always theorized it was possible. This changes what I know of life, evolution, and my place in the galaxy," Brainiac 5 mused.
"You having an existential crisis that there was a universe of life you didn't know about?" Kara mocked.
"On the contrary, I see opportunity," Brainiac 5 replied.
Drones wearing black suits and blue glowing helmets went around beating people up like fascists. "These your drones?" Kara questioned.
"Keep your head down. They belong to Kang," Shalu warned. She proceeded to lead Kara and Brainiac 5 to an affluent bar/restaurant that overlooked the beautiful scenery. Unfortunately, it could only be seen on the X-ray spectrum.
"I'm here for Krylar," Shalu ordered one of the workers.
"It's you," the worker realized.
"Let's keep that between us and Krylar," Shalu said seriously.
As they sat down, Kara gave Shalu a confused look. "How do you eat and drink around here?"
"At this scale, there's nothing to eat or drink. Carbohydrates, fats, and protein molecules are all about our size. Instead, we exist on energy transfers. Otherwise, with our level of density, we burn off mass quickly in the form of starvation," Shalu explained.
"So, like how a Kryptonian absorbs sunlight and doesn't have to actually eat," Kara said.
"Who is Krylar?" Brainiac 5 asked.
"A freedom fighter or terrorist depending on your point of view," Shalu said dryly.
Krylar then arrived on a fighter-sized ship by docking with the so-called bar/restaurant. "Shalu Digby, it's been a long time," Krylar said as he exited his ship.
"It's only been a few days, Krylar," Shalu rolled her eyes.
"Lord Krylar, officially," Krylar corrected her.
"Did you gain your title by selling us out to Kang?" Shalu assumed.
"What? No...," Krylar denied.
"I need your help, asshole," Shalu demanded.
"Shalu, after all we have been through, together, just ask how I can betray you, too?" Krylar asked.
Mon started getting impatient with Jentorra. "You got a map to Kang's hideout? I'm ready to open a can of whoop-ass."
"The Conquerer burned our homes, our stories, he built his citadel on the bones of our people," Jentorra said resentfully
"Yeah, let me add his bones to that pile," Mon insisted.
"Some of us escaped, others are on the run. We gathered who could fight. It was never enough," Jentorro said.
"Just point me in the right direction," Mon asked once more.
"Shouldn't we wait for Mother?" Mara interjected. "We don't know where we are. We don't anything about this place or how time works."
Mon went over to her. "Don't use your mother as an excuse to postpone action. This is our fight, an Insane fight."
"This doesn't involve us," Mara resisted.
"Mara, look at me," Mon said seriously. "I'm disappointed in you."
"We should wait until Shalu arrives," Mara argued.
"What did you say? Where is that bitch? She shouldn't be here," Jentorra said angrily.
"Why? Did she betray you all by helping Kang rise to power?" Mon assumed.
At the high-rise bar/restaurant. "Look, I'm a bastard. I know it, you know it. I'm not looking to change my life," Krylar told them all.
"Krylar, we're looking for friends of ours. Two of them, Insane," Shalu brought up.
"Insane? I'm Insane, too, in all the ways that matter," Krylar smiled. "So, what brings you back here, Shalu? Rumor has it, you left all of us with him. How many people died because of you? Do your friends even know who you are?" Krylar then turned to Kara and Brainiac 5. "This is where I betray you all. All of you are coming with me to Kang. This is so sad. All of this could have been avoided, Shalu. Just give him what he wants."
"What the fuck happened to you, Krylar? We fought against him, together," Shalu chided.
"He can be very persuasive," Krylar said vaguely.
At this point, a squad of drones was at the bar/restaurant and two fighter jets were hovering over them. "I think we're done here," Kara determined and immediately fired heat vision on the drones slicing into two of them. Kara then punched another drone to helmet sending him into the bar. Shalu kicked Kylar out of his chair greatly inconveniencing him. Shalu and Brainiac 5 used their pistols to fire on the drones, dropping them while Kara started fighting the other hostile patrons of the bar.
"Can that ship take us out of here?" Brainiac 5 asked Shalu.
"Yes, cover me," Shalu nodded.
Shalu made her way to the ship as Brainiac 5 fired accurate shots at the drone reinforcements. The two eventually entered the ship and worked to activate the controls. "Take the helm, I'm going to hotwrire this thing," Shalu said.
Kara continued to fire heat vision as Shalu and Brainiac 5 worked on the ship. Brainiac 5 quickly learned how to use the ship's controls. As Krylar's ship lifted off, Kara fired heat vision on the two fighters blasting them apart and causing their debris to crash into the bar. Kara then flew up to the ship and entered.
"Really?" Kara chided Shalu.
"He used to be charming, funny, not an asshole," Shalu recalled.
At the Immsk village, Jentorra was sufficiently spooked. "Get everyone in their ships. We're leaving," she said to Quaz. "Xalum, take them as far away from here as you can," she ordered the drone with the laser canon head.
"But why?" Mara protested.
"If he's looking for Shalu, he's looking for you," Jentorra reasoned.
"How would he know that? And how would he know we're here?" Mon questioned.
Several Kang fighters became visible in the sky and headed right to them. "You led them right to us," Jentorra said pissed off. Kang's fighters fired plasma beams on the village creating chaos and confusion. Drones then repelled down to the ground and engaged the Immsk.
Mon and Mara took cover as the Immsk were kicked around by Kang's army. To their credit, the Immsk heroes were able to take down a few of Kang's fighters and destroy several of his drones. The drones would literally shatter into pieces and goo upon getting hit sufficiently hard. Mon watched as Jentorra took down drones like a badass.
"Stay here," Mon ordered Mara.
Kang's forces busted up the village in a brutal firefight. While many of the Immsk were able to escape, many others including Jentorra and Quaz were captured. As the smoke cleared, Kang finally revealed himself. He wore a dark purplish suit and a blue helmet. "I've been waiting a long time for this," he said to Mon and Mara. "Your destiny lies with me, Insane. Our fates have been forged together. Ever since you entered my realm."
"I've assessed the situation and we're going to leave," Mon told him off.
Kang suddenly fired an intense laser from his armbands near them blasting them both to the ground. "There's no place you can run. Not from me. I am the future. I am the past. Now, all I need is you."
On Krylar's ship, Shalu, Kara, and Brainiac 5 sat around a table to discuss Kang. "So, I know we've been over this before but tell us everything you know about Kang," Kara requested.
"He claimed to be a traveler who crashed off course from a parallel reality. He had a ship beyond anything I had ever seen before. A ship that could travel the multiverse," Shalu said, referring to a gold-egg-looking ship.
"Right, I learned about that possibility when the straight version of Flash showed up in my universe," Kara nodded.
"I had never encountered someone like him before. He was so lost. We worked together to try to charge his ship but nothing worked. After so many years, it was nice to have a friend, a fuck-buddy. We made love inside his broken ship so many times," Shalu recalled. "He said time was like a cage, meant to break a person. He promised me he could bring me and the rest of my people back to normal size."
"How did you get stuck down here in the first place?" Kara asked confused.
"I was the first of many to volunteer for the experiment. I was the only one of my kind to be able to shrink and grow at will without the need for technology. My people wanted to utilize my unique talent for the rest of the population. But the experiment went badly and I ended up stuck in the quantum realm unable to escape. It's one thing to shrink a tenth, hundred, a thousandth of your size and another to reach the quantum realm. So, more Immsk showed up in the quantum realm to rescue me until it was an entire village," Shalu explained.
"Did you ever get Kang's ship to work?" Brainiac 5 asked.
"When we finally got it to work, the ship was neurokinetic. When I touched it, I saw into his thoughts. I saw what he had done. He had destroyed entire worlds, entire timelines. When I saw what he had done, what he planned to do, it became apparent to me that he hadn't crashed here. He had been exiled here, the only place that could hold him," Shalu said hauntedly.
"Who did?" Brainiac 5 asked.
"I don't know. He told me all sorts of bullshit that it was some other Kang who destroyed those worlds or that he could go back in time and make it so that it never happened. He offered a way back to my world. I didn't believe him. I took his core and shrank down even further to the sub-atomic level. The core reached a critical density and became a singularity. The energy discharge spat me out and returned me to this size. The explosion nearly destroyed Kang but his suit has a powerful forcefield," Salu explained.
"Afterward, he built a large city with drones. He has technology far beyond anything I have ever seen. He can manipulate matter into anything he can think of. His city is beyond the horizon and up the walls. He has countless drones and ships at his disposal. He conquered the quantum realm and used my people as target practice," Salu said resentfully.
"I'm sure I can take him," Kara said confidently.
"I'm not sure about that. If you power up beyond what you just did, you run the risk of becoming a singularity. Your density will be so much that even you cannot escape your own body. Your body will be ripped to pieces and then compacted infinitely small. On the quantum level, your density has to be the same as his. At this level, Kang's technology gives him the edge," Shalu warned. "I spent years fighting him, running from him, hiding from him. And then you brought me to your planet, but I didn't deserve it. I trapped my people down here and I created a monster."
"I'm sorry you had to deal with that nonsense alone, but you're not alone now. We'll stop him together," Kara assured him.
"Kara, he cannot get out," Shalu said seriously.
At his citadel, Mon and Mara were placed in forcefield prisons. Kang eventually came to visit them. "Mon-El, you're an interesting man," Kang remarked.
"I take it you're Kang? You've made a big mistake. I'm the Prince of all Insane," Mon said arrogantly.
"An Insane? I'm fairly certain I've killed your race before in countless timelines. All the races I've killed blur together after a while," Kang said arrogantly.
"I know exactly what you mean," Mon nodded. "We're both S-class conquerors. I can respect that."
"I'm just a man who has lost a lot of time, like you. But we can help each other with that," Kang offered.
"No doubt. Shalu told us all about you. For a human, I'm impressed," Mon said sincerely.
"Shalu stole my ticket out of here and you're the only one that can help me get it back," Kang said.
"And why would I do a silly thing like that?" Mon asked.
"Because you need me to get back to your size, your world," Kang said obviously. "Also, I know how all of this ends."
"What ends?" Mara questioned.
"All of it. I don't live in a straight line. I have seen the end. You see, with the multiverse, there's an infinite number of your other selves. In most universes, you never reach Super Insane. You never have a family. In one universe, you're a whipped Daxamite bitch for Kara. The same is true for me. My other selves are responsible for countless incursions that have destroyed entire timelines. In order to stop them, I had to hunt them down and kill as many of my other selves as I could. Often, my other selves would shield themselves with civilizations, so I had to conquer these people. I've destroyed countless planets and civilizations across the multiverse to kill my other selves. I am a monster but it was necessary to preserve the multiverse, to preserve your timeline. If you do not free me from this prison, your timeline will inevitably come to an end," Kang informed them.
"For my good deeds, they exiled me down here. They're afraid of me. But I'm the man who can get you home and stop them. I'm the best shot you have. So, do we have a deal?" Kang asked Mon.
"Don't do it, Dad. He's lying," Mara accused.
"Do I look like a liar to you?" Kang asked with an innocent face.
"Yeah," Mara said obviously.
"Alright, let's do this," Mon volunteered eagerly.
"I have to keep your daughter in this cell for insurance. You, understand, Insane man?" Kang asked.
"Of course," Mon agreed. "So...how can I help you?"
Kang opened a portal to his ruined core that was now a singularity. The two stepped through the portal and saw the black hole in the ground. It was perpetually sucking debris into itself and creating glowing discharges. "What the fuck is that?" Mon wondered.
"It was a multiversal engine core. It's a power source that can take you anywhere in space and time but Shalu blew it up. I need you to go down there, find the core, and bring it back to our size. Once you've done that, it will no longer be a singularity," Kang said.
"Why can't you do it?" Mon questioned.
"I don't have infinite clones at my disposal as you do, and I have no fucking clue what's really down there," Kang said obviously.
"Fair enough," Mon acknowledged. He then split him into two clones of himself. The clone then leaped into the singularity. Inside, Mon found what he was looking for. As he did, he started creating as many clones of himself as he could until there were thousands and then tens of thousands of himself. The extreme power of the singularity destroyed as many clones as Mon was creating. The Mon clones formed a shield around the leading clones as they were getting zapped away from the radiation currents. Finally, the lead Mon fired growing devices at the singularity causing it to grow to the point where it was no longer a singularity.
The core then grew separating itself from all the material it had collected as a singularity. The core then appeared as an orb, still in working condition. The leading Mon clone took hold of the orb as Shalu, Kara, and Brainiac 5 arrived on the scene. "Okay, let's get the fuck out of here with that," Kara said to Mon.
"He's got Mara," Mon informed her.
"You cannot give that to him," Shalu said to Mon.
Kang then appeared on the scene. "I wouldn't trust her. Shalu, like most women, has a way of changing her mind."
"I know, right?" Mon smiled.
"Hello...Supergirl," Kang mocked. "So, what's it going to be, Mon?"
"Bring my daughter to me first," Mon ordered.
"Mon, don't do it," Shalu warned.
"We had a deal," Mon reminded Kang.
Kang opened a portal to his citadel. "Let's go, together."
"Stop him," Shalu beseeched Kara.
Kara nodded and flew at Kang to take him out. She cocked her fist back ready to make the kill. Kang telekinetically tossed Kara aside. Kara then fired heat vision that was deflected off his forefield. He then blasted her to the ground. "At this level, you're weak as fuck," Kang chided.
Kara powered up and felt the ground move away from her waves. However, just as she did, she felt a crippling sensation go through her body as she gained too much mass. Kara powered down and felt pain throughout her whole body. Kang then telekinetically lifted Krylar's ship and threw it aside where it crashed a distance away with Brainiac 5 inside.
Shalu went for an attack when she was telekinetically frozen in place. "You left me here to die," Kang said vengefully.
"You have what we need. Let's go," Mon said impatiently with the core still in his hand.
Kang eyed Mon and then back at Shalu. "Very well," he allowed and then the two of them entered the citidel.
In his throne room, Kang and Mon discussed future plans. "Every other version of me, my variants, throughout the multiverse, playing with time like children. But I saw how it ended. I saw their chaos throughout realities, universes colliding, endless incursions. I saw the multiverse and it was dying, all because of them. So, I took control," Kang said.
"Looks more like you got your ass handed to you and got exiled to this God-forsaken place," Mon corrected. "So much for Kang, the Conqueror."
"But together, with my technology and your power level, we could burn my variants to nothing, so that I am the One," Kang offered.
"I'm not entirely sure your motives are altruistic. Perhaps, you're having a hissy fit because they beat you," Mon suggested. "Because you've lost."
"I have lost. You have no idea what I have lost, and I will burn them out of time for what they have done to me," Kang said angrily. "But you can understand the idea of evil intentions and evil acts resulting in good consequences, can't you?"
"Of course," Mon allowed. "But those other versions of yourself aren't going to be sitting around in one place. You'll have to go after them one by one in each universe. You could cause an incursion killing trillions of people before you even get to your other variant."
"But with you at my side, I could find and kill my other variants a lot quicker before there even is an incursion," Kang argued.
"The universe is fucking big. Why do I get the impression, that you're going to be lazy as fuck and just wait for the incursion to happen and then leave right before it happens? That's what I would do if I was lazy as fuck," Mon rolled his eyes.
"It's not always the case that incursions happen that quickly," Kang rebuffed.
"No, you'll send a probe, instead, that will do it for you. Then, you can watch from the safety of your own universe as several universe incursions happen all at the same time," Mon surmised. "Anything from another universe could set off an incursion. It doesn't have to be you."
"You're one smart mother-fucker," Kang said pissed off. "You got a better idea, Insane man?"
Meanwhile, Mara tested the limits of her power level as she meditated in her cell. She eventually struck a balance between becoming a singularity and completely helpless. As she was being taken to Mon for the prisoner exchange, she overpowered the two drones. She slammed the first drone's head through the ceiling and then kicked the other drone against a window.
Mara then sped down the hall where she encountered Jentorra in her cell. "What are you doing here?" she asked Mara.
"I'm rescuing you. That's what heroes do," Mara said adorably.
"How?" Jentorra asked skeptically.
Mara punched into the control panel and then fried the system. The forcefield suddenly went down freeing Jentorra. "I'm sorry I got your people hurt. How can I help?" she asked Jentorra.
"We kill Kang," Jentorra said obviously.
"Wait...I can't kill or allow anyone else to kill," Mara objected.
"Fucking serious?" Jentorra asked dismayed. The two went around freeing other Immsk prisoners.
Kang displayed his grand army to Mon: millions of drones and thousands of spaceships. "Begin the launch," Kang ordered his drones as he placed the core in his multiverse engine.
"Our deal?" Mon insisted.
"Your daughter has already escaped," Kang said dismissively.
Suddenly, a large towering figure emerged: Shalu. Kang and Mon could see Shalu's feminine dimensions in giant size. On her shoulder was Kara. "I'm having the most awkward boner," Kang said to Shalu.
"So am I," Mon seconded.
"Kang!" Shalu shouted and then started kicking through walls, tearing down towers, and squashing drones.
"Bring her down," Kang ordered his drones.
Kang's fighters fired on Shalu from a distance, far outside the reach of her hands. The Immsk then arrived with their ships causing more disruption. The ships landed dumping Immsk fighters on the ground. The drones went out to counter the Immsk while withdrawing bridges to isolate the Immsk from the main command center.
Jentorra and Quaz, on the other side of the bridge, defeated the drones at the controls and restored the bridge. The Immsk continued their advance and met up with Jentorra and Quaz. "This is our world...we accidentally came to. Let's take it back!" Jentorra said to her men.
Kang activated the multiverse engine creating a giant blue forcefield around his command center and his remaining army. "He's getting out," Kara pointed out.
"No, he's not," Shalu said determined as she tore through the city to get closer. She slammed into the forcefield only to bounce off and land on her ass. She then returned to normal size. "I can't get through," she said to Kara.
"I have an idea," Kara said and then picked Shalu up. She took her up in the air and threw Shalu toward the forcefield. Just before impacting, Shalu grew to giant size and kicked the rings that were generating the forcefield. The forcefield went down as the rings buckled and collapsed causing destruction all around the command center.
"Well...shit," Kang said disappointed.
"Looks like you're going to have to follow my plan," Mon said smugly.
Kang shed tears as he knew what he had to do. "You're right," he acknowledged. He took the core and powered up a portal to Earth's regular size.
"After you," Mon said to Kang.
Mara then arrived on the scene shocked and appalled. "I have to stop you, Father." Mara went Super Insane, risking it all, and then punched Mon to the face stunning him. Taking his leg, she slammed him repeatedly to the floor. She then made her way to the portal.
"Where do you think you're going? Let's go," Mon stalled her, still on the floor.
"Just stop trying to be Insane in every situation," Mara scolded.
"Oh, really? Then, tell me what to be?" Mon mocked.
"I don't know. Just don't be this," Mara said lamely.
"It's too late," Mon told her.
"Never too late to stop it," Mara told him off. She then fell to a knee as her body started to violently contract. She cried out in pain as she desperately tried to get to the portal to stop Kang. As she her feet started forming craters in the floor. The metal in the control room started to snap off and attach to her, weighing her down.
"Mara, power down!" Mon shouted at her.
Kang watched with some fascination at Mara's effort. His feet started dragging toward her away from the portal. Despite his best efforts, he started skidding toward her. "If I became a singularity, you can't leave," Mara said to him.
"Mara, if you do this, you'll kill yourself and him, all of the people in this realm," Mon told her.
"Maybe...maybe, it's the lesser of two evils," Mara said uncertainly.
"Mara, listen to me, a hero can't kill...not even one person. There's always a better way," Mon told her.
"Really?" Mara doubted.
"Trust me," Mon said to her.
"Okay," Mara said naively and then powered down. As soon as she did, Mon knocked her out with a backhand to her head.
"She's got spunk," Kang said, slightly ruffled.
"You don't need an army. You have me. Let's go," Mon said to him. The two then exited the portal, Kang had finally escaped.
Kang's forces continued to resist the Immsk as they made their way to the ruined command center. Shalu was fired on by multiple fighters and fell to the ground severely wounded. She went back to normal size full of holes all over her body. Kara watched over her, firing on Kang's drones and fighters when they came near. The drones suddenly stopped firing and went into standby mode, the battle was over.
Brainiac 5 arrived on the scene and used a healing ray on Shalu. "I now have control of Kang's drones and automated systems," he said.
"We have to stop Kang from leaving," Shalu said as she was healed up.
"We're already too late," Brainiac 5 said knowingly.
Earth-Normal Size
Kang and Mon entered the lab in the palace basement where they met another Brainiac 5 drone. "The injector, please," Kang asked the Brainiac 5 drone. Upon being given the injector, Kang injected himself in his neck.
"How much time do I have?" Kang asked Brainiac 5.
"Not long," Brainiac 5 warned.
"Let's do this," Kang said as he opened a portal to the multiverse. Kang and Mon stepped through, ready to conquer all sorts of shit.
Quantum Realm
Shalu, Kara, and Brainiac 5 entered the command center and found Mara unconscious on the floor. "She's alright," Brainiac 5 determined.
"Let's go home," Kara said, freaked out by all of these events. "Where's Mon?"
"He's with Kang," Mara said weakly.
"Son of a bitch," Kara said peeved.
The four entered the portal back to Earth-Regular Size to go after them.
Multiverse
Kang and Mon worked together to find Kangs throughout the multiverse. Kang would locate his other selves and then Mon would quickly destroy them. Using his instant transmission, Mon was able to kill Kangs on the spot. In regular size, Mon could power up to his maximum, Kang's technological advantage was for nothing. For his part, Kang did get some tasteful revenge of his own with Mon at his side. The two jumped from one universe to the next before an incursion was even possible. When a Kang was difficult to find, Mon would just destroy the planet.
Finally, the Kangs started working together for greater resistance. Mon fired from his two hands incinerating several of them on the spot. He then incinerated them individually with short busts. A Kang threw a high-tech spear at Mon only for it to stay suspended in the air. Another Kang fired a beam at them only for the beam to circle around them and fire back at the Kang that had sent it.
"Nice," Mon complimented Kang.
Three Kangs confronted Mon with differing attacks. Kang #1 fired plasma bolts at him that simply bounced off his Insane armor. Kang #2 went for a physical attack only to be shockwave blasted away. Kang #1 and Kang #2 tried multiple energy and physical attacks on Mon at once without success. As he cast them both off him, Kang #3 grew to giant size and tried to crush him. Mon powered up and blasted Kang #3 off of him. Kang #1 continued to blast Mon to the face multiple times. Mon simply backhanded the Kang to the ground. Kang #1 avoided Mon's fire, grew to giant size, and slammed Mon into the ground with his fist. Mon simply blasted Kang #1 to the ground.
"You think this is new to me?" Mon said to the Kangs. "Do you know how many species I've destroyed, how many worlds I've conquered, how many heroes and villains I've killed? I am the Prince of all Insane!"
"Let's tone it down a little. Kang is also badass," Kang said defensively.
"You are, man," Mon agreed and embraced him as a fellow brother-in-arms.
Suddenly, thousands of Kangs arrived on the scene in waves on the ground and in the air surrounding them. Out front were Kang Immortus, Rama Tut, and Kamala Kang. Mon and Kang resisted the wave of Kangs with forcefields but it was becoming too much. "I am Kang!" Kang shouted as he was being overwhelmed. Suddenly, his forcefield went down as he was trampled by multiple Kangs.
Mon fired on the wave of Kangs incinerating many of them and blasting Kang off to the side. Mon flew over to the injured Kang and created a forcefield around them to keep the Kangs at bay for just a moment. "Are you okay?" Mon asked him.
"Probably not," Kang admitted as he coughed blood.
"I don't know what to say," Mon admitted.
"Thank you, Mon. You were the brother I never had," Kang said sincerely.
"That's sad seeing as how there are so many variants of you," Mon said sympathetically.
"I know, right?" Kang said sadly. "Can I die a Vindicator?" he requested.
"Yeah, you're in," Mon agreed.
"Thank you," Kang said pleased. "Now, go, my friend. Leave me."
Mon nodded and then opened a portal to Earth-38. As he left, the forcefield came down allowing the Kangs to apprehend Kang and take him away.
Earth-38
Upon arriving home, Mon got chewed out by Kara, Shalu, and Mara who were not informed of the overall picture. Fortunately, Brainiac 5 was able to transport all the Immsk people out of the Quantum Realm and then took over Kang's city with his own drones. Mon took the chewing out in strides.
"My life is Insane. I used to ask myself a lot of questions about that. I saved the quantum realm by helping Kang escape and no one is giving me due credit. Why does this kind of shit keep happening to me? That doesn't make any sense. But, you know what, life doesn't have to make sense. I used to wonder if this chapter in my life was over, but as Kang has reminded me, there's always someone in the multiverse needing to be liberated. It's been a pretty wild ride."
Mon came by a restaurant where Kara, Mara, and Shalu also glared daggers at him. "What?" Mon scoffed at them.
Kang World
Kang was brought to a stadium with giant-ass statues of Kang. The stadium was getting rapidly filled up with Kangs. This was a universe outside the multiverse where the timelines of all the multiverses could be seen in the sky. Portals opened every so often as more Kangs arrived. "So, the exiled one is in our hands," Rama Tut said obviously to Kang Immortus and Kamala Kang.
"If it wasn't true, we wouldn't be here," Kamala said obviously.
"These asshole Vindicators from Earth-38 have touched the multiverse. And if we let them, they will destroy everything we've built," Kang Immortus said obviously. "So, let's stop wasting time."
"How many did you call," Kamala asked.
"All of us," Kang Immortus said obviously.
The stadium became full of obnoxious Kang variants. In the center of the stadium, Kang the Conquerer was in chains on a pillar. "Let me die a redeemed man," Kang said as he passed away.
The Kangs all became silent not expecting Kang to die before his trial. Suddenly, all the Kangs became violently sick and their bodies began to disintegrate. "What the fuck is this?" Kang Immortus wondered as his body began to fall apart. There was a cry of anguish as tens of thousands of Kangs all died at once from being exposed to a virus that specifically targeted Kang's DNA. With his sacrifice, the Kang variants were destroyed saving the multiverse from future incursions or time travel shenagins. Kang, the Conquerer, the butcher of trillions had now saved infinite lives with his final kills.
Author's Notes: What if Kang was the true hero? What if Scott Lang was a dumbass who fucked the multiverse by stopping Kang from escaping? A lot of things in this movie didn't make a lick of sense. Had Janet told everyone about Kang, Cassie wouldn't have messed around with her quantum telescope, then nobody would have gone to the quantum realm, Kang would never get his core back, and then Kang would never escape. Now, Kang may be an idiot in this movie for not revealing his true motives at the opportune times, but he is still a badass. It was a little bit of a challenge to make Kang an even bigger badass here but I think it works.
