I do not own Hetalia, okay? I would love to thank all of you who have been with this story for how long it has been. It really means so much to me. Anyway, enough of this A/N, on with the fic!
"Calm down sestra…." Natalya sighed. "You're acting like I am going away forever." Natalya sighed rolling her eyes. "I will still be living in the same spot, and everything will be the same as before. I am even considering hyphenating my last name so that's not gone either…."
"Your poor hand…." Katyusha sighed as Charlotte wobbled around the room. "Part of the reason I liked taking Matvey's name was it was shorter than mine."
Natalya counted out the letters in each of the names. "By 2 letters." She said annoyed. "And is that not what Big Brother did when he married Alfred?" Natalya smirked as she adjusted her headdress.
"Yes, because they were fighting on who would take whose last name." Katyusha rolled her eyes at that memory. It was the week before Alfred and Ivan were married and they had gotten into one of their famous arguments. Matthew sighed, remembering how Arthur and Francis fought when they were growing up and looked around while Katyusha was growing more and more irritated at their nonsense. It after the 10th go around between the two that she had suggested that they had loved each other enough to wed that they could just hyphenate the names and sensing an argument about which one should go first, Katyusha had suggested just by going alphabetically. That way showed no preference, and it would be a reflection of them both. At this, Ivan and Alfred had looked at each other as if it was a dramatic revelation and then acted like it made perfect sense.
"What big brother sees in Alfred; I will never know." Natalya sighed.
"Hasn't that Feliks character said the same thing about you and Toris?" Katyusha said, "Wondering what it is Toris sees in you…."
"The only one of us who no one is questioning the match is you Katyusha…." Natalya sighed. "You and Matthew are perfect for each other."
"Thank you for that." Katyusha said. "When you find the one who matches you, you just know."
Meanwhile, Feliks was fussing over Toris, making sure everything was perfect. "You are going to be so fabulous. I know they are all going to be fawning over my work on the dress that Natalya is wearing but damn, I am awesome and making the groom something that everyone will keep talking about for days to come! God, I rule."
"Feliks…." Toris sighed. "It's my wedding."
"Yeah, and it wouldn't be great without me." Feliks said. "And we have to get out there soon. You need to be waiting on your woman after all."
Ivan and Alfred were trying to keep Nikita and Dimitri calm before the start of the ceremony. School had let out recently and they did not want to be kept inside for a ceremony, they wanted to go out and play, which with the venue and reception being near the lake did not help the situation. Both twins had wanted to go and go swimming. It was hot for an early June day, while it didn't seem to bother anyone else, heat and a big open lake to go swimming was too much for two now 5-year-olds to withstand temptation.
"Dad, it's hot, can't we get this over with?" Nikita complained. She was looking over at the setup of where the ceremony was to begin, which was by the lake.
"It's not going to start just yet." Alfred reassured her while Dimitri, who was not as actively moaning about the weather, was on the ground, digging a hole with a stick. "And Dimitri, you're going to get the suit that your aunt picked out for you dirty before the wedding is to begin."
Ivan was looking around as the guests had started to arrive. "I will let them know where they need to be." He said as Alfred nodded in understanding and slight disappointment. The twins were getting to be quite a handful and they were wanting out of their duties to go swimming. At this, Alfred noticed Feliks wave over at him. They had been in touch to plan a bachelor party for Toris, and Feliks had asked him to help knowing he would likely be more fun than Ivan was and knew the spots that Toris would like in the area. He had given Feliks a few names when he had asked and from there, Feliks just asked to await the invite and join him on the date given. Alfred had warned Feliks that he would not like anything too, rowdy and told him stories of what Francis, Antonio and Gilbert had done for his and how he would not wish the same thing on Toris.
While disappointed, Feliks had found a dinner theatre with a medieval joust theme that he knew that Toris would like. He explained that as a kid they would often play knights and that to this day Toris still had an interest in swords and fighting, just that he hardly got the chance to practice properly anymore. When they had gone, it turned out that both Toris and Feliks were actually well versed on medieval combat and as part of the show, Feliks made sure that Toris had an announcement of his bachelor party and made the proclamation say, "To my best friend Toris Laurinaitis on his last night as a free man." Alfred fell over laughing while Toris looked over at Feliks annoyed. However, once the joust began, he was enthralled and cheering the knights on and saying what they should be doing when it came to the fight while Alfred was tearing into the meal and Feliks took a liking to the camp of it.
"Baby dragon tastes like chicken." Feliks laughed, knowing full well it was a hunk of chicken. "And I have to eat it with my hands!"
"I really should bring the twins here…." Alfred said.
"They will toats love this." Feliks said as he took a big drink of the tomato soup called 'dragon's blood.'
"Yeah, Nikita says she's the baseball princess, that's what she was for Halloween last year." Alfred said as Toris was cheering the knight on." Alfred laughed. "Yeah, didn't know he was that into this kind of thing."
"Toats dude." Feliks said. "Have those two knighted. They'll love it."
Now, Feliks, taking it on himself to be the head wedding coordinator came out and waved at Alfred. "So, are you two ready to do your job?"
"Yes!" Nikita said jumping up.
"I'm ready." Dimitri smiled.
"Ivan is off looking to be with his sisters. Asked to do the giveaway part." Alfred laughed.
"Yeah, Natalya made it obviously clear that she wanted that. Like I totally think that she likes her brother way more than she likes her sister." Feliks said. "Well, that's a nice-looking lake." He smirked. Alfred looked at him confused, sensing that Feliks had more in his mind than the ceremony. "Now I have to put everyone in their places for this to begin."
Meanwhile, Toris's parents were talking to him before the ceremony was to begin. Some of the guest that Natalya and Toris had invited were beginning to come in, but Natalya had wanted a small affair that was restricted to their closest friends and family. The door creaked open, and Toris jumped slightly expecting it to be Feliks and something crazy he had wanted him to do before the ceremony. "Mama! Tėtis!" He said jumping up. "How was your stay?"
"Have to say, I really liked the little hotel that you arranged for us. The food was great, and manager was really nice." Toris' father said.
"And the spa was lovely. Really relaxed me after that long flight over here." Toris' mother said.
"Well Natalya would love to hear that. She works for the company that manages that." Toris said. "Well, the investment company behind it" He blushed, not knowing quite what to make of the situation or if his parents would think any less. "She's really good at it and her boss is looking to add her on as a partner when she finishes her MBA."
"You landed a good one there, son." Toris' father laughed. "If you make it through medical school, I know the both of you will have nothing to worry about."
"When not if." Toris' mother scolded her husband. "And I am so proud of both of you. All we wanted for you was to have things better than we did. And if this is any indication, then you and Natalya will do so. I am so proud of you." She smiled hugging him.
"Okay guys, get seated, it's time for us to get started. Soon you'll have a daughter in law. But you are never going to get that unless you get out of here." Feliks said as he pushed Mr. and Mrs. Laurinaitis out of the room. "Now you have to go await your woman." Feliks said as Toris rolled his eyes. As Feliks guided Toris to the front of the altar, he motioned towards Alfred and the twins. "You two get over here, need you to follow me and your aunt." He said as Alfred walked over to where Katyusha was standing, smiling as Feliks bowed. "Mi lady."
"You are too much." Katyusha blushed.
"Well, I came in a few days ago and when Natalya and Toris were away, I had watched your midday cooking show. You come up with the recipes yourself?" Feliks asked.
"Some of them." Katyusha said." Especially the ones from Russian origin. Old family recipes."
"I'll have to give you some of my babcia's" Feliks said.
"I would like that. And I will give you the credit." Katyusha said.
"Good." Feliks said as the ceremony began. He smirked as he looked at the altar, the lake and back. He nodded to Alfred who smiled, thinking Feliks was going to pull something on this, not sure of what to do. He then motioned for Alfred to lead the twins up and stand on either side, Dimitri on Toris' side, and Nikita to the left near Natalya's side.
"If you need me for anything, let me know." Ivan said as Natalya looked down the aisle.
"I appreciate the offer and I love your big brother." Natalya said. "You do not have to worry about me or Toris. He treats me well."
"I know." Ivan said. "But if things ever change, and the pressure of the medical field gets to him, you have a home with Alfred and I."
"Thank you." Natalya said as the music began to play noting her to start the ceremony. Matthew smiled while he cooed Charlotte while Katyusha slowly began to cry at the notion of her baby sister getting married. Ivan then sat beside Alfred and Dimitri waved at him as Ivan smiled. The breeze came off the lake with a pleasant feel. Feliks moved some hair out of his face as the pastor began to officiate the ceremony and started making some motions as he was figuring things out. Alfred looked on curiously as he was picking up on a vibe that Feliks may be planning something to do once the ceremony was over. I hope that he doesn't do anything stupid... Alfred thought. Why am I suddenly sounding so much like Dad?
"The couple has written their own vows." The pastor said.
"Natalya, ever since I met you, I knew you were something special. I was scared to talk to you at first and took a lot of encouragement from my friends before I could do so, but when I did, I knew that we were meant to be. You encourage me to go further than I ever thought I could, and I have done things that I have never thought I could have done before. I don't think I could have survived the first year of medical school without you. I admire you and love you and want to spend eternity with you." Toris said as Feliks put a thumbs up nodding with a huge smile.
"Dad, I'm bored, I want to play golf with Grunkle Al" Nikita moaned as the vows were being said. She had been playing regularly with him on the video game she had gotten over Christmas and she always loved hearing his voice and the funny way he said things when things had gone wrong, like when he had hit the ball into a water hazard then a sand trap. Alistor normally was not bothered by this kind of thing but since Nikita found his Scottish 'clean swears' as Alfred called it funny, he did it just to make her laugh. His treatment was going well. It made him weak and sick, and he had lost a lot of weight, but he was making progress and seeing nothing that was to be unexpected from the treatment at his age. He joked to Arthur once during the phone calls they started to have once a week when he left back for Scotland that the strength came from playing with Nikita who seemed to think of him as her favorite Grunkle.
"You can tomorrow, remember what we talked about with Grunkle Al. You and Dimitri are here for your Aunt Natalya and Uncle Toris." Ivan said with a smile that told her that her papa was being serious and that she should listen to what he says.
"Yes Papa." She said as she focused back on Natalya and Toris and wagged her feet back and forth, holding onto the flower basket.
"Toris, I never saw myself as a person who needed others. I was so used to it being my brother, sister and I that I never thought of anyone else. However, you changed that for me. I respect you and love you and will stand by you no matter what you want to do and keep you grounded if you keep me grounded."
Meanwhile, Ivan was sitting behind Katyusha as the couple was being asked to give their 'I dos' "You know, when you were married, Natalya did sob a little..." Ivan said, in an effort to comfort his older sister.
"I'm not upset. I am so happy for her." Katyusha said. "I was worried the most about her being so headstrong and stubborn she would live the rest of her life alone."
"Well, she found someone." Ivan said.
"And to be honest, I think she cried more at your wedding than she did mine. She's always been so attached to you, like your own little shadow growing up." Katyusha said as Ivan rolled his eyes. It's not like what she said was wrong, but it was always annoying to know that.
"I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride." The pastor said as Feliks took this as his cue. He ran up like a football linebacker ready to make a tackle and put both Toris and Natalya between his arms and ran into the lake, dunking the both of them in there with himself. Seeing this Dimitri and Nikita jumped out of their seats and followed Toris and Natalya in.
"Nikita!" Alfred yelled while Ivan yelled "Dimitri!" and ran to the lake after them, not caring that they were getting soaked as well.
"You had this planned from the beginning?" Natalya looked at Feliks cross as he nodded proudly.
"Why?" Toris moaned.
"Because you two took the plunge. Both figuratively and literally now." Feliks said.
"So, this is why you wanted us to bring a change of clothes for the reception?" Ivan asked looking rather annoyed at Feliks as he scooped up Dimitri and handed him to Ivan.
"Yep." Feliks said. "Maybe I should have told you that I planned it and talked the kids into following them as they liked the idea." Ivan looked at him. "Sorry for not telling you first."
"I would have appreciated that." Ivan sighed. "Come on you two. Let's get you changed."
"Okay Papa." Dimitri said.
"You too Nikita." Alfred said.
"Meet us over at the pavilion. I have only the best cooked up, worked with Katyusha." he motioned to where Katyusha smiled. "Nothing like the local cooking show hostess making it.
"Let me change then we can enjoy the food." Natalya sighed. "Don't know why I didn't expect this. I should have known better."
At this, Natalya headed to change her clothes with a slight smile as Alfred and Ivan took Nikita and Dimitri to get changed as well. However, they all knew that this was a new chapter, and the family was growing stronger each day.
"Can we have cake?" Nikita asked.
"When they cut it." Alfred said as he helped Nikita out of her wet clothes. "But according to Feliks, there's a good set up and he wants you to try his pierogi."
"Sounds good." Nikita said.
They headed out of the booth and headed to the pavilion where the reception would begin. Everyone felt happy and knew that the future was just beginning and that the family bonds were stronger than ever.
"Chow down!" Feliks said as he opened the top of the trays.
"You know, while you can be quite annoying at times, I have to admit, this was a fun ceremony." Natalya said to Feliks as she finished drying her hair.
"Well, you are my best friend, now you're married to my best friend. I only aim to please." Feliks said as Toris sighed with relief.
"Good to know that my best friend and wife at least get along." He said to Natalya.
"Who can't like me? I am like toats awesome." Feliks said. "Now, you two get in line first and have mine and your sister's cooking. I know how to make an awesome but family-oriented wedding. I am so using this to advertise my business." Natalya looked at him with narrowed eyes and Toris was looking at him stern. "After I run it by you first, okay?"
"I guess that is acceptable." She spoke.
"Good. You are like my family, and I like seeing you happy," Feliks smiled.
The day turned into night with plenty of music, swimming in the lake by the twins, after the futile attempts of both Alfred and Ivan to have them stay out of it, good food and just the enjoyment of a family spending time together at a very warm and intimate moment. As the night wore on, Alfred and Ivan excused themselves to take the twins home and to bed.
