A/N: Missing scene from S01E05.

Despite Shiv's claim that this was by no means their worst Thanksgiving, Tom can't help feeling that today was a failure. He had wanted to make a good impression on the family, but he had been overshadowed by Roman breaking up with his girlfriend, Connor announcing that he was going steady with a hooker and of course, Logan hitting his grandson.

While Shiv is in one of the downstairs bathrooms, Tom goes to look in on Logan. He's sitting staring into space, Marcia nowhere to be seen. Tom has always been intimidated by Shiv's father, but right now he looks like the old man that he is.

"Logan?" he says tentatively, approaching his soon-to-be father-in-law. "Shiv and I are about to leave." Logan grunts in response. Tom bends down and puts his hand on Logan's arm. "I hope you know how happy I am, to be marrying your daughter. I can't wait to be part of your family…"

Before he can say anything else, Logan whacks him across the face. "Stop buzzing around me!" he barks.

Tom stares at him. The humiliation is worse than the pain, although come to think of it, Logan does have a mean right hook.

"Well, happy Thanksgiving," he manages. Getting up, he walks out into the hall, just as Shiv emerges.

"What happened?" she says, seeing the mark on his face.

"Uh, your dad hit me."

"What?" She stares at him.

"I was just saying goodbye and he whacked me, like he did Iverson."

"Fuck." Shiv covers her face. "It's the stroke. He doesn't know what he's doing."

"I hope not."

"You can't tell anyone, okay? We have to protect Dad's reputation. You can't even even tell Ken or Rome. Ken's already freaked out over Iverson…"

"Fine. I'll say I walked into a door."

"Think of something better than that." They leave before anyone else can see Tom's face. As they get into the car, he's already thinking about how he can turn his black eye to his advantage.
