CHAPTER 24

Ena was put in command of the army at Nevassa, the capital of Daein. There, she wanted to reveal the long-time secret that she has been keeping from them. That secret was her being a member of Goldoa's Dragon Scale Tribe. When she transformed, she was a beautiful, but small pink dragon. However, despite her scale color, she breathed Red Breath, which made her a Red Dragon balanced of strength and magic, as she had a White Dragon grandfather. Nobody in the Daein army knew exactly who her grandfather was. But Ena was destined to be with him and her love interest once again. Then, the Crimean Liberation Army, who was fighting their way into Nevassa, encountered the beorc general and a transformed Ena.

"Is that a Goldoan Dragon?!" asked Bri.

"Who are you!?" Ike asked. Ena did not answer. All she did was revert back to her normal form right after the beorc general was defeated. Nasir later showed up in the aftermath of the defeat.

"Nasir, good timing, get her, and arrest her."

"Ike… I'm sorry." Nasir said. He later slapped Ike across the face, shouted a graphic expletive, and left him cold with a black and blue bruise.

"IKE!" Everyone shouted. When Ike got up, he was pissed with Nasir.

"You… you… YOU FRICKIN' BASTARD! YOU BETRAYED ME, AND YOU'VE BETRAYED OUR ARMY!" He then suspected that Mist's medallion was in the hands of Ashnard because of Nasir's traitorous behaviors.

"That was mine, you nitwit nincompoop!" Mist shouted. Nasir later pushed and shoved Mist away from him. She later fell into the dirty mucky moat water flowing through the Daein Keep of Nevassa.

"I knew there was a traitor giving information to the enemy, and now I have found the traitor, which is you, I need you to do something." Ike said in disgust.

"What?!" Nasir said.

"GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE BEFORE I GO GET MIST'S MEDALLION! AND I MEAN IT!" Ike yelled. "We don't allow traitors in the Crimean army, and you're one of them!" Ike said. "GUARDS! Seize him! Arrest his treacherous face, and make sure he's locked up very well!"

"Yes, sir!" said a soldier for Crimea.

"This is unacceptable in Crimean standards, indeed." said Ike in disgust and anger. "Until he learns to talk to me, he shall be held in custody." said Ike.

"I can't believe that Nasir betrayed us like that!" Titania said back at the base camp.

"I know." said Soren. "And was that girl his daughter or girlfriend or something?!" he later asked.

"Guys, stop this." Ike ordered. "Nasir is a complete bastardous traitor. He's locked up and in custody of the Crimean army now."

"Hmph." Mist said. "I just can't believe that Ashnard might have my medallion!"

"It's terrifying, Mist." said Ike. "I'm just nervous about what he might do with it!"

"General Ike, sir!" said a soldier. "Reinforcements have arrived from Begnion at the hands of a man named General Zelgius." the soldier stated.

"Allow me to meet with this guy first." said Ike. Ike then went to go meet with the great General Zelgius, earl of Kadohl of Begnion. When Ike approached him, he bowed before the general.

"Ike, I assume, right?" asked General Zelgius. "I have heard a lot about you."
"I see…" said Ike. "And you have brought me some more men?"

"Well, you are facing off against King Ashnard, right?" asked Zelgius. Ike answered, saying that by him telling the truth, Ashnard was not found. And they just lost a soldier because of betrayal. Zelgius understood well.

"It took me forever to even get the soldiers I have now, General Zelgius." Ike stated. "But I have to lead my soldiers out on a survey mission. Do you want to join us? It's okay if you say no."

"Ike, sadly, I have pressing matters to attend to." Zelgius said. "So, I shall…leave my men to you…and ta-ta." Zelgius later took his leave. Ike's next stop was the great Palmeni Temple. There, he would find out horrifying secrets about not only Lilia, Reyson and Leanne's deceased sister, but also his parents, his mother Elena and his father Greil. But they would also fall into one of the traps of the Daein Army.

When they reached Palmeni Temple, the bishop Tomenami was a little nervous and shaking. Then, he forgave the goddess.

"It's a trap!" said Ike.

"AHHH!" yelled everyone in shock.

"Don't worry, if the priests are not on Daein's side, we will raise our swords to the enemy army, not the priests! Let's go, my friends!" Ike said as he gave a direct order. Everyone started avoiding the priests as Ike confronted the berserker responsible for trapping the priests in a scheme of the Daein army. When he was defeated, he received a Killer Axe and a vulnerary.

"So it was a trap, wasn't it?!" asked a priest.

"It was." said Ike. "He was trying to trick you!"

"I see… Oh, lord, have mercy on my soul…for the goddess…" said Tomenami.

"We don't have to put you down." Ike said. "It's not your fault. But we would like to take a look around the temple. That's…if you would allow us to."

"We will." said a priest. "You have helped us retrieve Palmeni Temple back. Take a look around for all you want."

"We will, good priest." said Princess Elincia. "And I also do understand that there are many Daeins that do not support King Ashnard's actions."

"You tell, 'em, Elincia!" said Kamaria. "Oh, and by the way, Ike, Reyson's in trouble. Come this way."

"What?" Ike asked. Ike went to check on Reyson, who was in a room with a bed and Ancient Language written on the walls. He wondered what Reyson was staring at.

"This." Reyson said as he presented the writing on the walls. Ike went to go read it, but unfortunately, he was unable to read Ancient Language.

"Was this…the same language your sister Leanne was speaking?" asked Ike.

"Ike, the herons speak this tongue known as Ancient Language. Magic tomes and scrolls are written like this in simplicity."

"I see…" said Ike. "Can you read this on the walls, then, Soren?"

"Some, but not all of it." Soren responded. "Like I said, Magic is written in simplicity, not complexity." he explained again.

"But wasn't Leanne speaking this language?" asked Kamaria's brother Kito.

"She was." said Soren. "The Serenes herons' chants are all chanted in Ancient Language."

"So, Reyson is reading what's on the walls, right?" asked Kamaria. "I wonder if Swan, Craine, and Belabánva could read it."

"Uh, we're herons! Can't you see?" asked Swan.

"Yeah. We're not angels from heaven." said Craine.

"Ha! Sorry…" said Kamaria. "I'm just…not used to the heron clan. Well, my brother is."

"Hmph." said Swan.

"But I wonder if we should leave Reyson be." wondered Ike. "There is a lot of writing on these walls, and chances are it could take hours to read."

"Sounds like a good idea if you ask me." said Elincia.

Hours passed, and Soren later suspected that a person was locked in this room a long, long time ago. Ike wondered who could have been locked in the room. Soren responded, saying that he had found something under the bed after responding that he was not able to read all of the writing. Soren thought it belonged to the person who was imprisoned in the room that long ago. Reyson later returned, asking if he took up anyone's time. Ike said that it was not a problem. But he was presented with whatever Soren found under the bed. Reyson was shocked. The item turned out to be a sparkling, shiny white feather. The owner of the feather was Lilia, Reyson's older sister. The writing he saw on the walls was even written by her, too.

"Was she…" Ike asked before Reyson answered by interrupting, saying that she was a heron.

"Tell us about her." Soren said.

"You see, she was kidnapped twenty long years ago. On the night the Serenes Massacre took place." Reyson stated. "I thought that she was murdered along with the other siblings of mine. But today, I just found out. A large hu–I mean, beorc…took her. I don't think she knew who he was. He thrust a clan treasure at her, and demanded that she use magic to release whatever was inside it, and the rest is history. I guess…"

"So someone wanted to revive the dark god…" asked Elincia.

"But when Lilia was brought here, she fell ill and collapsed." Reyson stated. "But a young beorc woman started to care for Lilia. She had blue hair and blue eyes." As Reyson continued talking, Mist was shocked.

"Do you remember the name of this beorc woman?" asked Ike.

"Her name…" Reyson spoke, "was…Elena…."

"AH!" Mist shouted. "Mother! IT WAS MOTHER!"

"Your mother?" asked Reyson.

"Yes, our mother! Her name was Elena, and like me, she had blue eyes and blue hair!" Ike said. "And the object you referred to… was it a bronze, aged-old medallion?"

"Yes." Reyson spoke. "But…how did you know?" Ike explained everything he knew about Elena and Greil. Reyson then suspected that the medallion was somewhere in the room they were currently in.

"It was um…stolen." Ike said. "Probably by Daein scumbag soldiers."

"I see." Reyson said. "You see, Mist, your mother had to return the medallion to Serenes Forest. To the rightful place it belongs."

"Now this is becoming clearer and clearer." Ike said. "My father fled Daein to protect my mother."

"How'd you know?!" Titania asked.

"Volke told me everything." Ike said.

"I see…" said Titania. "So he told you everything about Commander Greil. Do you know who murdered him?"

"I know who murdered him." Ike said. "But I am not talking now about it." Everyone later continued on with the mission to liberate Crimea by leaving Palmeni Temple. Reyson was still feeling a bit off by emotion. But the past…was the past.
