Comfort
It's late, and Harvey is still immersed in paperwork and overwhelmed with stress. Working with Faye's heavy, menacing presence breathing down his neck only makes things worse, and Donna knows it. That's why she's still in her office, waiting for him to come home together, even though she has already finished everything she had to do.
When Donna approaches her boyfriend's office, he doesn't even notice. "Hey," she murmurs, walking towards him, trying to get his attention.
He raises his head with a slight smile on his lips that fails to hide the fatigue and frustration etched on his face. "Hey… I didn't know you were still here."
"I thought it'd be a good idea to wait for you," she replies, closing the remaining distance until she is standing right in front of him, as he turns in his chair towards her.
"I'll be working late, Donna. Go home and rest. I promise I'll join you in bed as soon as I can."
"Are you sure? Do you not need any help or company? I can stay if you need me," she tells him tenderly, gently stroking his hair.
"Yes, I'm sure," he responds, letting his head fall forward, his forehead gently colliding with Donna's lower abdomen. She instinctively cradles his head, seeking to provide him with some comfort.
"Promise me you'll go back to sleep for at least a few hours." He nods, softly rubbing his head against her dress. "Alright, I'll wait for you at your place then," she replies, gently scratching behind his ears and massaging his scalp. "I'll be there, waiting for your hug when you arrive."
"Don't doubt that I will," he murmurs against her, tenderly wrapping his arms around her thighs, needing her presence for a few more minutes before she departs. And Donna concedes. She stays there, nurturing him and giving him a place to rest for a while.
