Chapter 1- You know you never were

It was their last showdown with Jack Spicer. It all happened so fast. Kimiko had the Star Hanabi while Jack had, of course, the Monkey Staff. She blasted him, he dodged but dropped the wu. No matter, he still could fly. But she couldn't. She did not think this through, and the rocks she was climbing on cracked beneath her feet because of the blast, causing her to fall in the showdown's canyon. She closed her eyes shut as the boys screamed after her. Jack was too far away from the wu, he would not reach it in time, meaning the showdown would continue even after she fell, even after she could break all the bones in her body, or worse…

… But that didn't happen.

She felt arms wrap around her from her back in a tight hold and as she opened her eyes in shock, she saw Jack trying to maneuver the heli pack. The fall was too quick and he could not do much but turn their bodies around so he could take most of the impact. They crashed, and she could not tell if the sick cracking sound came from the heli pack or from his bones.

Kimiko heard him taking a deep, wheezing breath, and then saw his body falling limp. Dread crossed her entire being, as she got up and started patting his face, checking for signs that he might still be alive. ''Jack. Jack!'', She was a little dizzy herself from the fall, but she had to do something. They were enemies, but she couldn't let him die.

Apparently, he couldn't do that either.

Jack woke up in a hospital, with probably the worst concussion in his life. He later found out that he had fractured ribs, a concussion and a dislocated shoulder. It hurt, but nothing he wasn't used to. He sighed. Once again, in a hospital bed… he was so tired of this, and even more tired at how stupid he was, even if he was aware of it.

''You could have died once again. You are going to get yourself killed one day. If you continue, that is.'', He told himself. No. He would not allow that anymore.

Fuck this. Fuck shen gong wu, fuck showdowns, fuck world domination, fuck everything!

The monks came to visit the next day, and it seems like they felt bad about it, especially Kimiko. He brushed them off and told them he did not want to see them. He was far more rude than normal, but he couldn't help it. You throw tsunamis, flames, tornadoes and earthquakes at me, a guy who doesn't know shit about self defense or doesn't have super powers, and you say you're sorry? Hahahah!

Sure, he had his robots, but those robots, but seriously, it's freaking magic we are talking about here! Big, destructive, powerfull, dangerous, elemental magic that does a lot more damage than some robots with guns in their chest. Of course it doesn't take much to destroy them. No matter how smart he was, he couldn't make his robots compare to that!

He groaned at his shoulder. If he was awake back then, he would've snapped it back in place and left home to take care of his injuries himself. He knows how, he's done it before, more than he can count he is good with the thinking, not the fighting.

It was a few weeks later that he finally could get out of the hospital without a cast and bandages, though the doctors told him to rest as much as possible. And that was what he was gonna do. He had plenty of time to think about it. And he finally made a decision.

He went back inside his lab. Gosh, it was so dusty here. So dark and quiet. So lonely…. He shook his head and went down the stairs to his metal door. Opening it with the simple code 1, 2, 3, 4. Jack laughed, he was so stupid. He took out the 11 wus he had and went upstairs with them, grabbing the Monkey Staff too. The monks brought it back, ''It is not fair for us to keep it! We did not win it!'', Cheese ball explained.

And then, he went in his small self made plane, and took off.

When he arrived at the temple his back was hurting like fuck. He wanted nothing more than to lay in his bed, eat chips, watch a drama, and sleep for the next 16 hours. He sighed and walked out of the plane with all the wus. To say that the monks were surprised was an understatement. They thought he wanted revenge and took a fighting stance. He sighed and slowly, carefully walked to Omi. Then with a rough push, he shoved all the wus into the tiny monk's arms, some of them even falling on the ground. Omi, with the other losers, looked up at Jack who stretched his back and groaned as it popped, then looked at them, ''I give up. You won't see me anymore.''.

Their eyes went wide like crazy, as they dropped their stances and approached carefully, ''What do ya mean?'', asked Clay, ''I give up on Heylin, showdowns, wus, and trying to rule the world. That's what I mean.'', Jack spoke annoyed, his eye twitching slightly, ''But... why?'', Kimiko asked quietly, all of them looked guilty, sad, and almost... almost hopeful. Hopeful for what? That he will become good?

Before Omi could even ask, Jack pointed at all of them, ''I do not want to have anything to do with good or evil! I want a normal life, and I cannot have that life if I constantly almost get killed. One day I will end up dead if I continue like this, and I don't want that. Giving up is perhaps the smartest thing I've ever done.'', he spoke in a calm tone, but his voice was colder than an arctic wind. They never heard or saw him like that before.

He inhaled and calmed down ''I wanted to bring you the wus I had, I don't want them to have it.'', 'them' means Chase and Wuya. He left with Omi calling after him, but he never looked back. When he exited the temple gates he felt relief washing over him, but in the same time... a lot of sadness. Those losers were the closest thing he could call as friends. Were. He would live a normal life from now on. Without magic and destruction, and dragons, and other stuff like that. He would do what he wanted.

''Leaving already? I had hoped you would stay for tea.'', The voice startled him, but he didn't jump. Though he felt like he just had a heart attack. Turning around he saw Master Fung, hands tucked in his sleeves, gentle blue eyes piercing his own.

Turning towards him he bowed how he could, his injured ribs protesting at the movement. He wouldn't be able to tie his shoes if he could barely make a bow for an old master. But he tried. He respected Fung, a lot.

Fung put his hand on his shoulder to assure him he could stand ''It's alright, don't strain yourself. You still need to heal.'', ''I'm sorry I cannot greet you properly.'', Jack said quietly and cringed at his own voice. Fung smiled and asked ''Why are you leaving?'', ''I just want to get to bed.'', Jack said, eyeing his plane. ''You know what I mean.'', the old master told him with the same calm voice, removing his hand from Jack's shoulder when he saw the younger looking uncomfortable. ''Eh, I never was a good evil anyway.'', Jack shrugged and started walking away, not wanting to talk anymore, ''Do you want to give up on being evil because you're not good at it or because you know you never were evil in the first place?''.

That made Jack stop in his tracks. His eyes were wide. He could not breath for a second, but he forced himself to stay calm. He turned to look at master Fung who was still in the same spot, looking at him. Jack shook his head, terrified to answer, and he ran in his plane and took off quickly.

Author note:

Hi! This is the first time I publish a story here, and I thougt I might start with a XS one. I actually have this story posted on my DeviantArt account, but it is incomplete, so for now I just want to post the written chapters slowly so I can also edit them too in the process, and to get some time to write the rest of the story too.
