Headache (darvey parents)
When Donna wakes up to her husband whispering "good morning" to her on a Saturday morning, she just knows it won't be a pleasant morning. Her head feels like it's about to explode, and she can't even tolerate the light streaming in from the window. So, Harvey tells her to get some more sleep while he takes care of their little daughter. A few minutes later, after Harvey leaves the room following Donna's intake of a painkiller, the little redhead rushes to her father, who scoops her up in his arms.
"Morning, sweetie," Harvey murmurs, enjoying the tousled red hair on her head after a restful night's sleep.
"Morning, Daddy," Avery yawns, rubbing her eyes. "Shall we have breakfast with Mom?" the 7-year-old asks, noticing that Harvey has just left her parents' bedroom.
"No, Avery. Mom has a really bad headache. She needs to sleep a while longer."
"Uuuh, poor mommy. I wanna go say hi to her."
"She's not feeling well, kid. It's better to let her rest in silence and darkness. That will help her."
"But..." Avery pouts, countering. "I wanna give her a kiss to make her feel better like she does for me. Please, Daddy." Avery pleads, clasping her hands together, and there's no way Harvey can resist that image.
"Okay, but be gentle. Just for a moment, okay?"
A moment later, Avery enters the room and approaches her mother slowly. "Hey, Mommy," the girl murmurs, placing her small hand on Donna's cheek.
"Hey, honey," Donna mumbles, attempting to open her eyes.
"Dad told me you have a headache, so I asked him if I could come and give you a kiss to make you feel better." Avery murmurs and leans over Donna, tenderly kissing her forehead while stroking her hair. Donna fights back the urge to cry; sometimes she's overwhelmed by the innocence and clarity of her daughter. "Get well soon. I wanna play with you today."
Donna smiles and takes her hand, kissing her palm. "I'm sure your kiss will make me feel better. Thank you, sweetie," she says, and Avery smirks with pride.
"Avery..." Harvey calls her from the doorway. "Let's let Mom rest now, okay?"
Avery nods, but before leaving, she gives her mom another kiss. "I love you, Mommy," she whispers.
"I love you too, Avery," Donna murmurs, reaching out to lightly touch her daughter's nose, the kind of gesture that always brings a smile to Avery's face.
Avery then darts out of the room, and Harvey closes the door behind her.
"You had to leave quietly, kiddo. Just like you came in," Harvey comments.
She chuckles, slightly embarrassed. "Sorry, Dad."
"Alright, let's get breakfast ready. What would you like?"
