Harry Evans was a mystery to most the moment he arrived at Hogwarts. Immediately people realized that he was incredibly intelligent and a great conversationalist. A former classmate, Penelope Clearwater, said this about Harry's early Hogwarts years, "He was a strange mix of social and distant. Always working on his projects in private but could hold a conversation with anyone. He used to read old books aloud for an audience in the common room before going to bed."

Harry's house sorting came as little surprise to anyone who ever met him, so when he joined Ravenclaw, many were expecting an antisocial genius. However this was far from the case, he remained a private individual for his first 3 years at Hogwarts, but still sought out many to converse with. Another student claimed, "he had an obsessive personality," when describing his study habits. This was noticed by many classmates and professors, but once Harry set his mind to a task, he would do anything to complete it. His rate of progress was spectacular in his first 3 years. It was speculated that Harry would've been able to complete his NEWTS after his third year. However, little is known of his true abilities at the time because he was naturally humble. Other later believed that he was afraid of showing his true capabilities before he was strong enough to protect himself. He hardly ever answered questions in class, but when he was called on, he would make insightful comments that helped everyone better understand the concept. Harry had a way with words, that could make the most complex concepts seem relatively simple. It was that trait that led to a inter-house study group that Harry often hosted once or twice a week. This study group started in his second year and would go on until he left Hogwarts.

It became clear that Harry was trying to add non-magical influences across Hogwarts. He was often found explaining a new technology or where he believed the non-magicals were developing. Looking back, many believe he had incredible foresight and was able to clearly envision what the future was like. After returning from the summer each year, Harry would bring numerous non-magical books with him and leave them in the library. He would often recommend these books in his study sessions and passing conversations. His influence slowly began to spread and many of the pure bloods got a much better understanding of the non-magical world. He also put together a recreational football league that would go on to become a staple at Hogwarts.

Harry did find some resistance as Hogwarts and there were a few attempts at bullying. However, Harry was extremely scared of harmful magic in his early years, so he was cautious to the point of paranoia. Many classmates noted that he never ate without checking to see if there was any magic on the food and he would rarely touch any object without magically scanning it first. It was quite an odd thing to see, but over time people got used to this peculiarity.

Harry quickly became a favorite to many professors, but it was quickly noted that while he maintained politeness, there was always a hint of disdain that he carried for the professors. A former friend of his said, "he really hated the professors.. he wouldn't make it obvious, but you could clearly see that he didn't like them." The professors were never able to create a meaningful relationship with Harry. Professor Flitwick was overheard saying, "I think he hates us because he believes we failed his mother." Lily Evans was a very sensitive subject for Harry and he would react quite negatively to the topic being brought up. The only mark against Harry during his first three years at Hogwarts was an incident his second year with Graham Montague. Graham publicly called Harry's mother a "mudblood whore," which led to Harry snapping his wand and breaking Grahams arm in multiple places. He was forced to buy a replacement wand and serve 2 weeks of detention, which he served quietly and without protest. However the subtle dislike he had for the professors only rose after this incident.

Harry had an extremely wide variety of interests, however like in primary school, Harry soon picked a couple subjects to focus on. Right from the start, Harry was obsessed with enchanting objects and creating new spells. He quickly realized that those skills build heavily on the foundations of Charms, Ancient Runes, and Arithmancy. While two of those subjects were electives that started during the third year, he was often seen reading advanced runes textbooks or scribbling arithmancy formulas. He ended up creating many spells, however he rarely shared his findings unless the spell he created was used for a specific utility. One of his most well known spells, was actually created as his final project for his third year arithmancy class. He created an alternate method of the vanishing charm that would allow easy access for the transportation of bulk goods. While a relatively simple concept, the spell was quite tricky to make because he wasn't shrinking objects or teleporting them. This spell essentially created a pocket dimension that stored something until being called forth again at a later point in a different location. Once the spell was published in Charms Review Monthly, many industries in the magical world would use the spell to effectively transport their cargo. Harry's inspiration for the spell was shockingly because he wanted to create a way to move objects and furniture into his own lab that he created from an abandoned classroom on the 5th floor of the castle.

Harry was also extremely interested in spatial manipulation. He would later go on to create many forms of new magic in this field, but the foundation was built early on as shown by his work in arithmancy. The one subject that Harry truly struggled with in his first three years was surprisingly transfiguration. While he never slipped below top 3 in the subject for his year, he was not exceptional in the subject which was a first. While he was able to perform the spells, he lacked the finesse and creativity needed to be highly successful in transfiguration. He was often found complaining that the subject made little sense and he struggled immensely with the nuances of transfiguration.

Harry was also extremely politically aware and active for his age. Every breakfast he was there first thing in the morning reading the paper. During the meal he would often engage in political conversations with the older students. He would be quite vocal against the rising shift back towards traditionalism that had slowly been developing across the UK. He would often and loudly explain which economic policies were "stupid and wasteful" and spoke with disgust of the similarities between the present day and the early 1970s. He correctly predicted that they would see another wizarding conflict within the next decade. Many thought he was paranoid or overplayed things to be dramatic, but in hindsight, he had an incredible view of the present political landscape. A few thought he was a seer because his predictions often came true, however no proof was ever found that he had any strength in divination.

One foundational element to Harry later on occurred during his detentions for breaking Montague's arm. He was forced to assist Healer Poppy Pomfrey for a week, which led to a hunger for knowledge about medical practices and the human body. He would later go on to create numerous spells related to the body and healing. After returning from his second year, he gifted the school healer several sets of anatomy textbooks from the non-magical world. He also included modern non-magical medical research articles which surprisingly inspired Poppy to send them over to St. Mungo's to improve their training and research. Another political move Harry made without even realizing.

Harry built a strong reputation across the wizarding world within the first 3 years of his schooling. Many students would tell their parents about his talent and charisma, which spread the word quite swiftly. In addition to his openly political statements, he was quickly gaining respect of many of the older muggleborns for his bravery. After the war, many people looked back on Lily Evans as one of the earliest and most obvious victims of the disappointing leadership at the time. Many muggleborns blamed Dumbledore for his passivity at the time and that resulted in nearly no members of his Order of the Phoenix being muggleborn. While being a minority, muggleborns still made up approximately 20% of the wizarding world population. Many would use magic upon graduating from Hogwarts to sneak into some of the top universities and would find careers in the non-magical world. This led to reported connections between the Department of Mysteries and MI5. However, the Unspeakables never revealed their identity and muggleborns were widely spread across non-magical industries.

Harry's interest in enchanting didn't allow him to create anything large in his first 3 years. However, shortly after the winter holidays his third year, he was seen constantly wearing a new ring on his index finger. It was rumored to be his first of many enchanted objects and the uses are merely speculated. One conclusion could be made about the ring was that it had the ability to look for poisons. The ring was seen glowing slightly when Harry reached for a drink, upon seeing that glow, Harry decided not to touch anymore food or drink for the night. That was the only instance in which the ring was seen to have any use, but many doubt that to be the only use it had. One of the first things Harry learned upon arriving at Hogwarts was detection spells, which means he was quite aware of the limitations it had. It would not be surprising to believe he had managed to enhance the detection spells through an enchantment.

Returning for his fourth year at Hogwarts saw him have a growth spurt. Now standing at 5'6, with dark red hair and piercing green eyes, he seemed significantly more confident then any of the previous years. Many believe this is the moment when Harry first became somewhat comfortable in the magical world. While he was not the most powerful wizard, at this point he was quite competent. He had spent a few hours training everyday since arriving in Hogwarts in order to be quite skilled in wand combat.

Years later he would describe his normal routine as waking up at 6:30am and running laps around the Great Lake for an hour. Following that, he would get ready and read an hour before eating breakfast. During classes all day he would complete the homework assignments and readings because of his ability to finish practical work quite swiftly. A fellow Ravenclaw once asked him, "how do you finish your essays so fast?" And only received a short reply of, "I just write my thoughts out." He was known around school for never taking more than 20 minutes to write any essay and never needing to revise. While his writing wasn't perfect, it was well above his peers and the upper year students. It was quite obvious to the professors that he had decided to take his education into his own hands and decided not to intervene. Many believe this was due to the poor view Harry had of the professors that restricted him from reaching out for help or guidance. After classes, Harry would often disappear for a few hours before dinner. During this time he would practice his magic by improving his casting speed and accuracy. One his biggest focuses was efficiency and he took that to creating his own magical combat style focused on that. Following dinner, Harry would either socialize around the common room or host a study session before curfew. It was rumored that he would sneak out after curfew to work on his enchanting projects and spell creation, but he was never caught. During weekends, he would often be absent for the majority of the day working on his independent studies. Harry kept a tight schedule which left little room for a social life. This created a strange dynamic between him and the other students because many would vie for his attention, however short it may be. When someone is really busy like Harry was, the action of taking your time to meet with someone was quite flattering. Most of the students liked and respected Harry, but were never fully able to connect with him.

Despite his newfound confidence, people still remember the sorting ceremony of his fourth year when he loudly dropped his goblet in shock at the announcement of the new Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor James Potter and with him his son Alexander Potter, the boy-who-lived.

A/N: I hope you like it so far, this is the end of the prologue. I'm thinking of switching to a more personal and focused style for writing Harry but not sure how to do that. Please like, follow, and comment your thoughts on the fic.
