After spending a couple of weeks in Europe, on a student exchange program, Carlota Casagrande was heading back home as she was currently flying on Velum 5-Seater. As she was seated, she was looking out the window while dressed in her regular attire with a sand-colored trench coat over it. And right now, she was wishing that was on a better plane.
Carlota:"Can't believe that this is the best my parents could afford to get me back here. Couldn't have gotten a private jet? Oh well, at least this is making due time."
As she said that, the plane was experiencing some minor turbulence while flying overseas. The weather was partly cloudy, so it wasn't too bad...yet.
Carlota:"I hope everyone back home is alright. Can't wait to see how they are all doing."
(Flashback)
Before her trip, Carlota can be seen packing up her luggage while her parents were there in her room. Carlos was having a sense of pride for his daughter while Frida was trying to hold back tears, which was virtually impossible for her.
Frida:"Oh, Mija. We're so proud of you. Getting into this program; we will miss you very much."
Carlota:"Thanks, Mom. I'm pretty excited about it, but it's only gonna be for 2 weeks."
Carlos:"Still, it is a great achievement. Just make sure you come home safe, okay?"
Carlota:"I promise."
And with that, do the parents and their daughter hug each other. Just about ready to go, Carlota takes her bags and departs.
Back on the plane, the pilot could see land up ahead and decided to make the announcement.
Pilot:"Attention passengers, we are approaching the continent. Be sure to be wearing your seatbelts at this time."
Carlota:"I can't wait to be back home."
Deciding to relax for the rest of the way, Carlota takes out her phone and starts to see if she could access her social media. But, as this is happening, the minor turbulence that shook the plane suddenly became major and shook the plane more violently. "Bangs and shimmies" could be heard as Carlota dropped her phone, frightened by what was occurring. Even the other passengers that were with her were starting to panic as this was going on.
Carlota:"What's going on? Is this normal?"
Turns out that the plane's electrical system was going on the frits and it may have been because Carlota forgot to turn off all her electronic stuff.
Pilot:"Alright, everybody. Remain calm! We have a little problem! Nothing to worry about. Nothing!"
Sounded like the pilot was even trying to convince himself as the 4 other passengers beside Carlota were growing nervous by the second. Outside the plane, the propeller system had caught on fire and the whole thing started to lose altitude fast. The Pilot caught sight of this and tried to stabilize the thing while the passengers were screaming in panic. Carlota was bracing herself, wrapping her arms around her legs, which were up to her chest, and burying her head in between all that. the passengers could be heard screaming as the plane was going down. Within moments, it crashed and landed in a clearing of a large jungle, the very front of the plant had been ripped off while the rest of it had ground against the surface, leaning forward before coming to a halt. Unfolding herself, Carlota opened her eyes to see something...horrific.
For starters, blood stained her trench coat and while fortunately, it wasn't her blood, the person sitting next to her wasn't as lucky since it was their blood that had been spilled onto her. The very sight of it made her scream in terror, as Carlota looked around and saw that she was the only survivor of the crash, as everyone else had perished due to their injuries. Quickly moving out of her seat, panicking pushing the corpse of a passenger aside, and dashing out of the plane, but not before tripping and falling on her face, Carlota quickly picked herself up to find herself in what appears to be the center of a vast jungle. Given how hot it was, Carlota decided to take off the bloodied trench coat she was wearing; however, it appeared that the edges of her dress were ripped a little.
Carlota:"Oh, great. I had this custom made."
Looking around, she found her suitcase...but it had opened upon the crash and everything inside was ruined.
Carlota:"Oh, you gotta be kidding me. What's next?"
Upon saying that, as if right on cue, a roar coming from a Liger could be heard in the distance and it scared Carlota to no end.
Carlota:"Okay…Things are getting worse, and I'm getting out of here."
This forced Carlota to hurry off into the jungle herself. It wasn't exactly easy for her, how dense it was to travail the jungle with all the trees, vines, bushes, and tall grass and there was no telling what creatures lay within the place. There was also a shallow river that Carlota did not see coming, and the water that rushed through it went halfway up her shoes. It annoyed her how much they felt soggy.
Carlota:"Oh, come on. Now these are ruined?!"
Sighing, she makes it past the river and continues moving through the jungle, zigzagging through the trees, looking for a solid path, until, not paying attention, she accidentally walks right into a web of 10 vines. Struggling to get out of that quickly, she moved through them, pushing and pulling any of the vines out of the way. But unfortunately, her dress continued to suffer damage, with more rips and tears appearing with every struggle. One large cut appears on her stomach, which irritates her a lot.
Carlota:"Oh, come on! Are you kidding me?!"
Regardless, she pushes through the vines, unable to break them, but forcefully slipped through them. As she keeps moving, her hopes sink when she sees two mountains in the distance, indicating that she was somewhere far from any population or civilization.
Carlota:"How the heck am I going to get out of here?"
Continuing on her path, she hoped not to run into any more trouble as things seemed calm, nothing in her way...that is until she got caught in a swarm of mosquitos and they were all over her within moments. In a fuss, she began swatting at them, trying to get them off of her, but with little success as they were practically everywhere around her. Panicking then, she screamed and ran for her life while the swarm chased after her. After a minute of running, she came across a clearing, but then she slipped and fell, face first, as the ground was all muddy. Fortunately, this allowed the mosquitos to fly right past her. Unfortunately, her entire front side was covered in mud, and her remaining clothes were ruined and she found it a little tricky to get back on her feet to look at herself, as she slowly had to move to keep herself from slipping.
Carlota:Oh, that's perfect. Muy perfecto. When I get home, I'm taking a day-long shower...if I ever get home that is."
Walking across the clearing, she stopped and sat by a large soggy dirt hill. Deciding to rest for a bit, she sat in a crouched position and wondered what to do next. She was lost in the middle of the jungle, with no phone, ruined clothes, and no way to find out where it is she was going...
Carlota:"Could things get any worse?"
And then thunder could be heard, followed by torrential downpours of rain.
Carlota:"I had to say it."
Getting up, she tries to look for any sort of place she could find shelter in. Looking around the dirt hill she was next to, she did spot a small hole that an animal must've burrowed a long time ago. And since she didn't seem to have that many options...
Carlota:"If I can find Shelter, I'll just make one. Shouldn't be too hard...right?"
And with that, with her bare hands, she starts clawing at the side of the hill, digging in an attempt to make the hole big enough for her to crawl through herself. Little did she know that she was making the hole a little too small, but it was not her concern since all she wanted right now was to get out of the rain. Focusing on her upper side as she keeps on digging, she starts crawling into the hole, slowly moving into the hill. The more she digs, the closer she got to a small open space inside the hill.
Carlota:"Okay, this doesn't look too bad. At least I have a place to stay for the night."
But as she tries to crawl in further, she felt a slight tug at her hips. As it turned out, her backside get wedged around the edges of the hole she dug, due to it being a little too small for her to properly crawl through. Annoyed by this, she grips the inner walls of the cave and begins pushing herself through with brute force. All the while, outside, her legs were kicking throughout the struggle.
Carlota:"Ugh! Stupid…little…hole!"
But soon enough, she is able to squeeze herself all the way in. But just as she was able to get the rest of her body in, a root inside the tunnel got caught on the lower end of her dress and began tearing it off. Much of the dirt that made up the hole she dug broke away as she was able to squeeze her body into the space she was in, so that would make it easier for her to get back out, as she was now fully inside the small cave.
Carlota:"(sighs) I wish I wasn't so bottom-heavy."
Sitting with her legs up to her chest again, Carlota tries to relax...only to finally realize that her skirt has been ripped away, leaving her with just her top on with her white panties exposed. Inhaling, she let out a loud scream, which was muffled from outside as it continued to rain.
Carlota:"THIS IS SO EMBARRASSING! I better find some new clothes soon! I can't head back home like this!"
Taking another deep sigh, Carlota wrapped her arms around her legs and tried not to cry as things have gotten so bad in such a short amount of time. She could hear the sound of the rain pouring down on the hill she was inside of until it stopped. Deciding to take a look outside, she crawled on her hands through the tunnel she dug to head outside. By then, it was dusk and she could see it had gotten dark outside as she exited the cave; but at least it stopped raining. Yet it was cold, and she could barely see anything.
Carlota:"Should probably start a fire…try and keep warm…assuming nothing eats me first."
A little while later, Carlota built a fire that was surprisingly half her size. She rested by it, resting against the dirt hill while she pondered on everything that has happened...and her chances of survival.
Carlota:"Everything happened so fast...how am I supposed to get home?"
She then hears an Owl somewhere in the distance, and it made her jump while hugging her ponytail over her shoulder. Looking around a bit, she sees nothing and sits back down.
Carlota:"I really do hope I...survive long enough to make it back."
Tired after everything she's been through, Carlota closes her eyes and dared to sleep by the fire. All the while, something or someone was watching from the distance before moving back into the jungle.
