"Oh?" he questioned her. He knew that there were special cards floating around the place. He was just lucky and at the right places when he won some of his cards. "There gotta be cards for upping the power. Your deck seems pretty strong all ready!"
"Yea…I have a strong fairies and some battling guys, but yours are special…it's like you have a way with your deck!"
"Thanks…it was put together in a quick way. Battling monsters was my thing!" Joey shrugged. He remained a time when Yugi had to help Joey with his deck. There were not enough thinking man's cards. It was all smash and destroys monsters. Yugi had to teach Joey very carefully on the art of war. "I had some help from a friend. It was not easy with my way of thinking at first!"
"I did that make you a better player?" she asked. She wondered what kind of person was this Joey Wheeler. He was just normal, street punk who had a loud mouth. She wanted to get to know him a little bit better.
"It's nothing really; under Yugi's teaching…I have become a better player. It was very hard and I was hard headed to match!"
"When did you have to break down the stubborn wall?" she asked. She wondered about one of the main reasons of him being the way he was his stubborn streak.
"What's that?" Joey asked. He was surprised at her statement. There were times that he was very hard headed and was not going to take no for an answer. "Am I that notable with my feelings?"
"You are a thought guy!" she faced a smile.
"Yea…I wanted to be tough. I have one thing to remember. I had to be tough. I lost both my mom and sister in a messy split between her and my dad!"
There was still, cold appearance in his eyes. It was like he was left for good by his father. The aping hurt like mad. He had to change the subject. He said, "Look…"
His eyes scanned for a soda machine. "You wanna get a drink?"
"Sure…I have been a little bit of a nosy girl…" she sighed. She hoped that she could make things better for him.
"Are you saying that you are sorry for talking about my old man?" Joey quizzed her. He knew he was speaking too much of his dueling skills. It was like Joey to be opening up his big mouth. He had to keep things down to a low level. He would get himself into a pickle if he let all of his trade secrets out to a girl who had known for a little time.
"You want to stop at the book store and look around!" she asked. She didn't know what Joey liked.
"A book store…" he pursed his lips in surprise. He was not a book worm like Bakura was. He liked comic books and some books on dueling monsters. Outside of those two subjects, Joey was not a reader.
"Yea…there is a new manga and a few other books I want to check it," Bethany said with a shy looking her eyes.
"You like manga?" he asked. He knew that there were other things that would be cooler to do besides duel monsters.
"Yea…" Bethany nodded. She recalled a few of the titles that she read on a weekly basis when she had the money. "I really like the one that has the girls who pilot a great space ship…they look tough!"
He had a feeling about his date. It was not going very well with Bethany. She smiled and said, "It's all right. There is nothing to really get upset over. I like dates that are different!"
Joey stared at her with wide eyes. Was he hearing her right? He shook his head for a second before his goofy grin had crept in. he wondered if she was just faking. Yet, he looked at her for just a minute longer. He said, "Are you telling me the truth?"
"Yes...am I!"
Joey was slightly relieved at Bethany's statement. He smiled softly to himself. He knew she was not all that bad. He had been warned by someone about Bethany.
"Where is that you want to go, Joey?" she asked.
"Well," he rolled his eyes towards the sky for some sort of clue.
"And what is it?" Bethany asked. She had a quality that no one else had. She told the story about her father meeting up what her mother for the first time. "He was extremely shy!" she blushed. She loved her father very deeply.
"And what about you mother?" Joey asked, he knew that she wanted to get away from her mother.
"She was nice at first. She had a very sweet personality. Then, when they were in college, she began to drink!" she said. She diverted her eyes to something in the distance.
Joey knew that she had a large amount to carry! The idea of a parent drinking was all too known to Joey. He knew about his father's drinking.
"He tried to stop her from going over her head. There was no stopping her!"
"Why did he just take you and leave town!" Joey asked. He knew at times to learn to back away from a situation that one person just can not handle alone.
"There was many things!" she narrowed her eyes down at the ground. There were things that she did not want Joey to know just yet. She was still so young when they had happened to her mother and father which caused a huge rift between them.
Joey stopped walking and stood near a large picture window at a shop. There were antiques and collectibles. He turned to face the window. There were a few things in which Joey had seen before. He said, "I understand what you are going through, and it's a real bear!"
Bethany was surprised to hear Joey outspoken feelings on the matter. She looked at him and asked, "You do?"
Her face was drawn up so curiously, in which Joey wondered about her.
"Well…I mean!" he blushed as he waved his hands in front of him.
"You need not to say anything!" Bethany said as she looked at the window. There was a set of books that she never seen before.
There was unspoken feeling of hope in Joey. he knew Bethany was a smart and brave woman. She was no longer a child from all the personal events that had happened to her.
"He tried to keep mother out of harm's way!" she said. she kept on staring at the books. it was like she had seen them before yet, she just moved in a few months back.
"What are you looking at?" he asked. Joey was going to help her one way or another. He knew about the pain of a parent's daily problems. he said, "What you are looking at?"
"Those books..." she stared at the books for a long time. She no idea why these books seemed so familiar
"Oh?" Joey asked as he looked at them. They seemed so very normal to him. "Have you seen them before?"
"No…that's really weird!" she said as she turned to look at him. It had been a bit of a shock to her as she gazed at the books. Placing a hand up to her chin, she studied them for one last second. She said, breathing out a sigh, "Maybe I've seen them as a kid. I have been in my relative's houses. I had a few old antiquities…of you know about what I mean!" then, she smiled.
"I understand. You should meet up with my buddy Yugi. His Grandpa is old but, he loves duel monsters!" Joey said. He knew getting her to open up like she did was a great release.
"Yugi?" she asked. She had heard about the King of games who was just a normal, but very shy boy.
"Yea…he's really cool!" Joey grinned at the events when he and the others had since they teamed up with Yugi.
"And what does he do besides school and dueling?" she asked. She turned to look at Joey for just a minute. It was like she was studying his face. She liked him for who he was.
"He helps run his family out as best as he can…I'm sort of doing the same thing…I helped my little sister out with her eyes! Sometime...you want to meet up with Yugi...I'll let you know. he's a real cool guy!"
"Are you sure?" Bethany did not want to intrude. she had no idea of what Yugi could pull on her during a duel! She wanted to be sure he was going to be a good person to be around with him.
Bakura looked at the clock. It was getting late for him. He was at home, getting to ready to finish out his homework. He knew that he was going to lose his memory as he went to sleep. Why did he do it. He looked at himself as he slept. it was like he was dreaming outside of himself.
the blackened sky looked even more dark when the last light in the room was shut off. Bakura felt unsure as he climbed into bed. he sighed weary when he pulled the covers over his thin frame. he heard the clicking of the clock on the wall. it glowed slightly with a pale blueish haze.
"What are you thinking?" a voice hummed very gingerly in his mind.
"Uh?" he wondered out loud. it did not frighten him as he looked at the clock. he replied softly in order not to wake up his mother and father, "Nothing!"
There was no idea where he would end up in his dreams. His legs curled up under the blanket, yearning to just sleep for a little while longer. He looked around the room. it was like a tomb in the darkness. He thought, "Please...I want just one night of peaceful sleep."
It was not going to happen for him. He turned on the radio and let the talk show host babble on. There was talk about taxes again. It seemed very boring to him.
"Bakura!" a voice called out in his mind
It seemed too prefect for Bakura to give in. On the other hand, Bakura had to have a strong will to stop himself from giving in. he knew deep down he was still a weak child opt the will of the Millennium ring. He had to bargain with the Yami inside of it. He opened his eyes to see his Yami speak. He asked with a groaned, "What's going on?"
"There is a new item, very rare indeed!" Yami said as he sat at Bakura's bedside. He was dressed in a dark pants and coat. His white hair and tanned skin shown clearly in the moon light. He glanced at his host, "I knew about it only from the stories from the market places in Egypt."
"Oh," Bakura said as he rolled to the side facing his Yami. He was felt sleep entering his mind. He did not to leave Yami upset if he had fallen into a deep sleep. Yet, forever time yami entered and used his body, there was a great drain of power from him. He felt also cheated as he tried to reason with his darker side. He hated to be pulled into the realm of the dead like he was. He wanted to be a normal teenager.
"What are you thinking about?" Yami asked with a surprised look on his face.
Bakura was going to cut things short as he grew weary. He said as he pushed himself up on his elbows. "look…I'm tired and had a full day of schooling. I just want a good night sleep!"
Feeling hurt, Yami chided, "don't you want to know about the eleventh item!"
There was no knowledge of an eleventh item that the Pharaoh owned. Bakura fell back onto his bed and grasped, "Are you pulling my leg!"
"And you are just the right people to be out there looking for that treasure!"
Bakura felt like he was going to even loose his mind if Yami was going to control him. He looked at Yami with anger. He had no choice in the matter, yet there was a little bit of an idea to just throw a bone at Yami's way.
"Are you thinking?" Yami asked with coldness. He had a feeling his host body was just going to be not cooperation fully.
"I will do what ever you want to in the morning. Right now…I'm sleeping!" Bakura said before yawning. Then, he blindly groped for the blanket which was half way yup his body. Pulling it up over his shoulders, Bakura murmured his last word for the night. Then, he was fast asleep.
"What are you thinking!" Yami hissed. He knew Bakura was asleep very quickly. He was going to reach Bakura one way or another to bend him to his will. How dare Bakura shirk off such a great true treasure hunt like this. Yami's anger started to boil quickly. He close his eyes to reach Bakaru his sleep.
Barkrua felt pain as he unfit sleep into blackened sleep. He could feel a liquid surrounding him at all times. What was he floating on? He knew he was sleeping and his bed was not a water bed. His mind was being controlled into a state of fear. He had to fight it or loose another night's sleep.
"Where am I?" he thought. Feeling a little relieved at the idea, of he was floating face up. He knew he was water which was dark blue and warm. He drifted for a couple of minutes before his feet brushed against something. He forced himself to sit up in the water. He blinked as he struggled up. He could hear voices shouting in the distance. It sounded like kids playing in the water.
"I must be in a pool of sorts?" he thought for a second time. He tried to sit up in the water. His body felt so incredibly light, he had difficulty in moving around in the water. He looked around to see the noonday sun was peeking over a large set of palm trees. There it looked like any other type of pool, but with one exception. This was a pool set in ancient Egypt. There were kids playing in a shallow part of the pool. There were a few deeper parts where women were doing their laundry. He bobbed up and down as as his eyes gazed at a far away event. There was a large stone path with two guards flanking each side of the path. In distance, a young boy with clear aqua eyes was slowly walking down the path. Two young girls with fans were just a few steps behind him. He smiled at some kids who were floating down past him in the pool.
A guard who noticed Bakura floating the pool. He had to get the young man out of the pool quickly before the Pharaoh even came up to the edge. He called out, "HEY…YOU…BOY!'
Bakura jerked a little as he noticed the guard holding a long spear. He said as he tried to swim to the edge of the pool, "Sorry…"
"What are you thinking of…" the guard chided at Bakura..
"I was just swimming that all!" Bakura said as he felt the stone edge of the pool. With one hand., he pulled himself out of the pool with the guard helping up out of the pool.
"I could have you sent to prison for that sort of outrageous!" the guard snapped, feeling the cold water dripping all over his feet.
"I'm sorry…I don't know why I'm here in the first place!" he said. He looked at Pharaoh who bore a striking appearance to Yugi. Then, he bowed at Yami and said, "Sorry for my rudeness, your highness!"
"And why are you here?" Yami said as he walked up to where the guard and Barkau were standing at. His gaze was one of curiosity. What was he doing here in the first place?
"I was trying to…" Bakura blushed at Yami. He was very surprised to speak to royalty. He wondered if he should bow ro just stand still. He looked at the guard with a flushed face. "I was just swimming here…I am very sorry that I was swimming in your pool?"
"That's fine. The pool has not gates here, but why are you here in the first place!" Yami asked.
"Well…you see, your highness!" Bakura began to say. Then, he thought, "Where is here?"
"Your Majesty!" a voice called out. It seemed like a prefect interruption for Bakura's dilemma.
"I am here….Seph!" Yami said as he turned to see young man who bore striking appearance to Seto. Seph walked over with a robe which float a golden colour in the air.
"What the?" Bakura gasped, his eyes grew wide. He was very much surprised to see another person who looked like someone in his present. He wondered if was his Yami behind all of this.
"Hmm?" Seph said as he stopped to look at Barkura. He was surprised as well. He studied the young man's face. He questioned anyone who wanted to hear him, "Who is this?"
Pharaoh looked at Bakrua and said, "Just a friend!"
"A friend?" Bakura thought His smile turned just a little sour as he tried to remain calm. He knew he should be grateful at Pharaoh. Yet, he knew he should be not there, swimming in a special pool meant for royalty.
"And why are you here…you know all about the new courtyard that I have been building up for the last three months," Seph said in a haute manor.
"Yes…I like it…but I feel weak from the this heat. I need to get away from the palace," Yami lied. What he really wanted to do was just hang out at the local market place and find out what was going on with the locals.
"So, you ended up here…." Seth asked. He had to be careful. He knew there were rumors of people leaving the palace for not showing favor to Yami
"And why not?" Yami smiled. He knew Seph was not pleased when he had left the royal court.
Remaining calm Seph said, "Your father will not be happy."
"Oh?" Yami said. He smirked at the statement, teasing his oldest friend to pieces.
Bakura had to stop this discussion to ask a simple question. He quietly and gently raised his hand to ask, "I have a problem…"
Diving into the middle conversation, Yami asked, "What is this problem?"
"Is there a library around here," Bakura asked as he began to rub the rig of his nose. He could
feel a headache coming on.
"A library?" Yami asked, sounding curious.
"Yes…I just wanted to know about a few…." Bakura said before trailing off. He wondered if the sun was making him sick.
It took him a long time to wake up. He heard the voices of Yami and Seph calling him as the darkness over his vision. he began to reach out and...
He awoke with a large headache as he found himself sleeping his belly. He rolled over to look at the early morning dawn. He felt worn out. He sat up in bed, pulling the covers over his shoulders. Why did he feel so cold?
It took Bakura a few minutes to get ready for classes. He looked around for the Millennium
ring he wore around his neck. He had taken it off before sleeping. He looked around the bed. He began to dig underneath the pillows. Nothing was his results. He climbed out of bed to see if it had slipped out from his pillow. He had placed it under the pillow the night before. He found it dnagling from the left post of the frame. He sighed relief when he had spotted it.
He quickly leaned forward to wrapped the cord. He had carefully pulled the cord until it was
freed. He looked at it for just a minute before placing the cord around his neck. It jangled as it hung on Brkura's neck. He felt the warmth of the item. There was power in the ancient golden charm Then, his Yami appeared in front of him, sitting on the bed. He glared at his other half with sleepy, mistrustful eyes. "What do you want from me this time…"
"It's nothing this time," Yami said. His face although cold, had a touch of compassion. He wanted to know if Bakura had awaken the old realms of the King of game's past.
"Good…I have to get ready for classes!" Bakura said as he pulled back the sheets. He climbed out of bed. He walked over to a large chest where he had laid out his school uniform the night before. he picked it up to place it around his neck. He heard the metal giggling as it was pulled around his neck. He grabbed his second uniform from a chair he had in his room. He wanted to be out of the house at a certain time before everyone was up. He had to think about his dreams.
When he got to school there was a few people in the school yard. He looked at his watch. It going on a few minute after seven in the morning. It was very much early for even him.
Tristan pulled up on his bike near the yard. He stepped off his bike. Carefully he pulled off his helmet and asked Bakura, "What are you doing here so early?"
A little startled, Bakura said as he glanced at Tristan, "I just wanted to be early, that's all!"
"If have this report to hand in before it;'s too late!" Tristan winced as he remembered begging his teacher to let he of one more day. He was already two behind.
"And what if you don't…." Bakura asked rather innocently.
"I get a flunking grade…which I can't afford to," he sighed.
"HEY!" Joey's voice called out. He was standing on edge of the parking lot.
"Who is that?" Bakura asked with a slight surprised look on his face.
Tristan had to give himself a second look as Joey darted as fast as he could towards the two. He said,"It's Joey!"
"Why is he here?" Bakura asked as he realized it was Joey who was overly hyped on too much on his mind.
"Don't know!" Tristan shrugged.
Joey stopped at a dead halt in front of Bakura and Tristan., breathing hard. he felt like was going to burst at any minute.
"I just wish you would stop being such a spaz!" Tristan huffed. He knew Joey had a habit of getting into a hyper mood when he was either mad or happy. For Tristan's sake Joey had to happy.
"what...are ... ya...talkin'...'bout?" joey wheezed. He placed a hand up to his chest. His heart was thumping hard against his rib cage.
"Slow down…" Bakura warned. He knew that Joey was a hyper case when he was wound up.
"Yea…it's not like we late for classes…or…" Tristan gave a suspicious look to his friend. Thank he nearly brought Joey to the ground with a slap on the back. "Are you looking for that Bethany!"
Bakura was slightly in the dark about Joey's new girlfriend. He had a feeling that Joey had a thing for Mai Valentine. He blushed slightly as he asked, "Does Mai…you dumped her?"
"We are just friends…" Joey said with a sour look om his face.
Yugi smirked while Tea just shook her head.
"Yea…" Bakura said as he folded his arms over his chest.
"And why are you saying that?" Tristan asked with a raised eye brow. He gave a scrutinizing glare at his best friend.
"I feel like I shouldn't be talking to you guys!' Joey huffed.
"And if you don't talk about it now….we can always wait!" Bakura said, noticing the clock on the wall ticking towards class time.
"If you want to me be a little kid when I duel…that's a different story!" Joey quipped. He turned to leave the group. It seemed like Joey was a little ticked off at them. He had to have some time to think things over before getting into a situation that he could not get himself out of.
"What was wrong with him?" Tristan asked with a puzzled look on his face.
"I think we stepped over our lines as friends?" Bakura said a little surprised.
They watched as Joey started to walk away from the others. He appeared to be heading down the road leading to his flat. Yugi told the others to stay put. Joey needed time to think on his own.
Joey had been through this road of not being fully understood before. he had always a problem with people who wanted to pin him down. this time was a little different. this was his own friends who were trying to figure out why he did not want to be dating Mai. he knew she was just a friend for a while. she came and went as she pleased in which Joey never stood in her way. he was very mature about the whole situation. he knew Mai was a little older than he was. he was going to blow off some steam if he was going to keep his head.
His feet had a mind of their own as he found himself in front of the flower shop. It looked like it was closed. He glanced at the large display window. He had caught a glimpse of Bethany. She was helping out her grannie with a display of roses.
Joey wanted to be with her for a minute. It could have been a great time to be spent in talking. He wanted to jump up and down for a minute as he found her. Joey said, "I want to be friends with her just because…"
"You are not making any sense or any easier for yourself!" Yugi warned Joey.
"Yea?" Joey groaned. He knew the others were just baggage in tow.
"You need some time alone!" Tea asked. She was starting to get the hint Joey wanted to be left to himself. She wanted to help by given in to Joey a little time to himself.
Joey felt a little on the spot. He said, "Look…I'm all right. There is nothing really wrong with me!" he was trying to keep cool, but his anger was starting to surface. He wanted to speak, but his mind was telling him no.
"You are starting to get upset…what's the reason?" Tristan asked.
"Nothing!" Joey said.
Yugi was taking the whole idea of Joey having another girl. he felt that Joey could have another girl beside Mai as a girlfriend. he wondered if there was so much of a big deal or not in dating. he knew Joey was still in school and did not feel it was a huge duel to have more than one girl. He questioned, "What's the problem...there are other girls who like Joey!"
Joey felt like the rug was not being pulled from under him, it was wrapping him up inside. he nearly shouted, "That's my business...and no one's else!" His face was starting to ge red. His breathing was coming fast as his heart rate switched out in a fast beat.
Then, he tired to leave. He was not going to go to Yugi's gaming shop. Instead Joey was going to another place to cool off. Tristan and others watched him go. Tristan questioned Joey, "Where are you heading off to?"
"None of your business!" Joey snapped. A feeling of mistrust was eating at Joey. Was it connected to Bethany. It was anyone's guess. He just had a pang of fear for Bethany. There was a test inside Joey that he needed to figure out on to pass or else.
"Are you staying long?" Tea asked. She knew Joey had to calm down before he faced the next person.
The nerves were starting to get mulled over. Joey felt like punching Tristan or giving a run in a duel monsters game Yugi, but he did not. His real anger was never got a chance to surface. He turned and left. Tea wanted to stop him, but Yugi had a feeling not to interfere with Joey's feelings.
Yami had watched Joey nearly get into a fight with his friends. He knew love of a girl was a difficult thing to hold on to when one was so young. He had wondered often how Tea could put up with Yugi and himself for so long. he was a very power leader. Maybe Tea was a good gate to hold his feeling I check. Yami sat on a park bench watching the rest of the world go by.
Joey was hurt in his pride. He was just stepping out of his own comfort zone. He was getting use to just being a duelist. Now, he was starting to get his feet wet in different way. He was not about to change over night.
Yugi had the shop phone sitting on the middle of the main display case. He wanted to to be near the phone in case Joey happen to call up. It was going to be hard case if he did. There was a little bit of troubled waters that they needed to cross over during the day.
Bakura entered the shop to see what was up with Yugi. He said in his usual cheery way, "Hello, Yugi?"
"Hey?" Yugi said as he tried to perk up a little.
"You are going to the movies or to the mall?" Bakura asked. He wanted to know if Yugi was going to study or not. He knew all that Yugi wanted to do was just duel and do games.
"No," Yugi shook his head slightly. He felt like he really hurt Joey deeply. Trying to think of a plain of amends to Joey's feelings was going to take a lot of work.
Yugi had froze when he had noticed Joey on the streets. He was talking to someone.
"And what else?" Joey asked, he felt slighted. He was going to go home by another way as his hurt feelings starting to surface.
Joey was not there, but his words seemed to ring in Yugi's memory quite hard. Yugi winced as he said, "I have a feeling it's going to be a long time before Joey's feelings would mend!"
"Are you sure?" Bakura asked. He could tell he and the others were not being let go that easily by Joey Wheeler.
"We need to get over that wall right now, before he really gets hurt before he end up in serious trouble!"
"Didn't you say that he is walking into a situation that could hurt him?" Yugi asked. He appeared to be a little more than just concerned for a friend. This was two people who did need help. Yugi and Bakura noticed Joey standing at the corner near Yugi's family gaming shop. He wondered as he walked up to the front door why Joey was there. He told Bakura that he should stick around just in case Yugi could put his foot in his mouth. Yugi wanted to apologize to Joey for the way he was treated by the others. there was no getting around. Joey was still upset, but he was willing to listen.
"What's up?" Joey asked., feeling, cold towards Yugi.
"I just wanted to say, sorry!" Yugi said, he forced a watery smile on his face.
"For being a jerk!" Joey asked. He knew Yugi was just being a concerned friend. He also was under the idea of being a gregarious duelist.
"Yea…in a way!" Yugi grimaced He had to be careful about letting his idea of dating someone else other than Mai was putting a new strain on Yugi's connection to Yami's past. It was like he was trying to protect a very precious item from the past.
"And what else?" Joey said with a smirk. He was going to needle out the fact Yugi was stepping onto a land which he was trying to get use to with Tea.
"You like her…don't you!" Bakura jumped into the conversation between Yugi and Joey. He smiled as he teased.
"Ah-a…you have to put your two cents, Bakura!" Joey huffed. He waved his hand to show he was not to be toyed with.
"I'm not going to be happy about this?" Yugi asked. He wanted to be sure his words were not going to start about battle of hurt egos and longer wait times for apologizes.
"You not happy…what about me?" Joey huffed. He placed both hands now on his chest with his fingers spread apart. He had to hold back his emotions before he would let loose a possible punch. His glare was not all that great in looks as he turned to stare into the shop window. There was the usual duel monster cards. He was thinking of the many times he wanted to give up duel monsters. There was no chance after what he had been through.
"Cool down…Joey!" Bakura uttered weakly. He reassured Joey by raising his hands up in utter surrender. He was going be the mediator between two friends before it got ugly. "We can understand how you feel about her!"
"Yea…then, back off, Bethany is a good duelist and a sweet girl!" Joey said, he felt like defending someone outside of himself. Joey wanted to turn around and leave. he was not happy with no one.
Yugi had to stop him. He put out a hand and asked, "What's really wrong?"
"Nothin'!" Joey sighed uncomfortably.
"Are you sure?" Bakura asked. He was going to help Yugi get through with this probing with Joey's feelings. "You look like you needed to talk about her!"
"Not really…you just don't understand!" he sighed again.
"What don't we understand!" Yugi asked. He wanted to be the good friend to Joey. He was still under the idea of a good friend needed help from another good friend, then they should not be keeping the facts all to themselves.
"Is Bethany in trouble?" Bakura asked. He had a strange feeling in the pit of his stomach.
"I'm not sure!" Joey sighed.
"We can't sit around and do nothing!" Yugi said. He had a feeling Bethany was just a normal girl who needed some help.
"I"m going to see later on at the library!" Joey said.
Both Bakura and Yugi glanced at Joey with wide eyes. What was he thinking of? Joey hated to study. Was Joey getting love sick. He was not going ti happy any other way.
"Why are you going there?" Bakura asked. He was puzzled on what Joey was facing and why he did choose the library.
"That's the only place…Bethy feels safe, her mom does not like books or reading!" Joey said. He turned to glance at Yugi and Bakura. Then, he checked his watch as he moved back to wjehr ehe was heading. Jhe wanted to be alone for a while.
Bakura became concerned for Joey. He wanted to follow Joey to the library. Yugi was thinking the same. He knew there was an answer for this and it was at the library.
"Do you mind some company?" Yugi asked gently. His voice to
Joey did want a five-some, but if Bethany was in trouble then he had no call in the matter. He asked, "Can you be there in ten?"
"Yes…you Bakura? Yugi asked. He knew there was more to this he was going to expect.
"Why don't we go now?" Bakura asked. He felt his other side, giving in. His Yami was not all that nice, but this was a bigger request for help than they were going to figure out. Bakura told Yami to keep his distance, Joey was a still a street wise kid who had a thick coating of toughness. It was a coat Yami knew all too well in order to crack open in a duel, but that was different story off the dueling circle.
Yugi had found a missing link to the past. It had to belong with Bethany. Was she part of the past, it was a wonder to both Yami and Yugi. Yami had been working on the pieces he and the others had gathered. It did not frustrated him, but him want to dive deeper into the past of ancient Egypt.
He had to think back in what Yami was speaking of when he talked about the past. There was some who was controlling every movement it seemed. Was Bethany reborn like a monster in the game. That could be happening. There were so many links to the past which wound around the present it was frightening. He had to look at Bethany in other light before something else could happen to break his connection.
Yami was sitting at the kitchen table with Bethany. She cut her the palm of her hand with a pair of rose snips.
"I don't think I can duel!" exclaimed Bethany as raised her hand.
"What do the rules about a second in the dueling ring?" Yugi asked, he knew most the rules about dueling by oneself, yet this was special. Bethany could duel one handed, but it could make the action that much slower. "I could asked Pegasus the rules for a tag team approach. He would say yes to the idea."
