"Curiosities About The Unknown"

Soren that morning was eager to head to the library to find some information.

He left his bed very early that morning to try and get a head start.

As he arrived he found Oliver in the corner, scanning over a piece of parchment, his eyes practically burning holes in the paper. Oliver had more than one scroll.

He was the only other owl up at the time.

Even the librarian was still snoozing.

He was reading about The Others it seemed from the text on the covers.

What a coincidence...

Soren Kept that fact in the back of his mind as he crawled up to the larger shelves.

He searched in the O's, scanning the Shelves.

He found nothing much about The Others.

He looked at the Masked Owlet.

Oliver must have took them all.

Well that was dandy.

Maybe If He asked nicely Oliver would lend over some reading material.

He walked over, quickly gaining confidence.

"Hi..Oliver" Soren stuttered.

Oliver looked at him with his judging eyes.

"What do you want?" He asked softly in annoyance.

Soren's confidence waned with that one.

Oliver was not exactly a friendly face.

"You mind handing me one of those scrolls?" he inquired.

Oliver looked at him with morbid curiosity.

"You want to know about the Humans too?" he chimed.

"Humans?" Soren retorted.

"The Others." Oliver corrected himself from his last sentence.

"Yes." Soren answered with a hidden desperation in his voice.

Oliver eyed at him suspiciously.

"Can I See One Of Those Scrolls?" Soren Asked once again.

Oliver sighed as he looked away, he did not answer.

Oliver seemed to not want to share.

Soren was probably not going to get those papers he Wanted.

Great, now what?

He decided to ask his buddies to see what they knew.

After a wild goose chase to find his companions he started infuring to them about his questions.

They all gathered into Gylfie's roost.

"The Others?" Twilight Questioned.

"Never heard of them"

"Soren what exactly are we talking about? Gylfie asked for the second time.

"I think they are called Humans" he said.

"Humans?"

"That's what Oliver Called them" he replied.

"I think it is all a lie" Digger joined in.

"What makes you think that?" Soren questioned.

"If no one has ever seen one how can they be real?" Digger said with wit.

He was not wrong.

Maybe they were just stories to entertain little Owls...

"You don't have to see something to believe!" Twilight butted in.

That was also true.

"I should know! You can't see music! But you can hear to know that my music is the best!" he said boastfully.

Eh, his music was ok to say the least.

"I doubt that" Digger repealed.

Twilight looked at digger with a clean stare.

You done it now Digger.

"Oh no..."

Digger bolted for the window, Twilight on his tail.

"Let's see if you can play better then!" The grey owl said playfully.

Gylfie giggled at the appeal.

They swung around the window and into the branches and leaves.

Twilight and Digger were out of sight.

Soren bet that would go on all night.

"You think we should go get them?"

Soren looked down at her, his eyes meeting hers.

"I think they will be fine, Probably" He answered.

The sun was now high in the sky, it's warm glow warming the earth.

Lunch approached swiftly, that afternoon, Fish!

Again...

And something the cook called "Sourberry Tea".

The drink tasted like the wood cup it came in.

At least it wasn't any worse.

After Soren scampered off to his hollow, tired and in need of rest.

On his way to his Roost he found Gylfie in the hall.

What was she doing here?

She would already be in her hollow by now.

Whatever it was it must be important, she had a worried look on her face.

"Gylfie? Why are you here?" Soren asked.

"I saw something off the balcony." she exclaimed.

Interesting.

What did she see?

"It was a ship! But bigger...Huge." she said as she trailed off.

Soren looked her in the eyes to calm her troubled self.

"Where was it going?"

"The Ice Narrows I think" she retorted.

What was the ship going there for?

He wanted to know.

He could ask Twilight and Digger to accompany him.

No, that would take to long to find them.

And Gylfie was much to brittle for a journey like that!

If she got hurt he wouldn't know what to do.

He had to go alone.

He spread his wings and flew out from the Tree.

"Where Are You Going!?" Gylfie yelled.

"To find the boat!" he replied.

Oh no...

Why would he go alone?

What if he got hurt!

She would go too!

She flew as well to keep him company.

She being small caught up with him rather quickly.

Soren flew as fast as he could to find the boat.

After what seemed like hours he could still see the tree.

He saw Gylfie following behind.

"Gylfie-"

She cut him off with a remark.

"I won't let you go alone! We are friends! We stick together!" she said with confidence.

Well then, he wouldn't say no to good company.

"Fine" Soren sighed.

They flew on a little longer, the fog now blocking the tree from view.

In the corner of his eye he saw raindrops.

Dark clouds were rolling in.

A storm roiling to the south.

Despite the wind and waves he pressed on with his companion by side.

He was strung on by endless curiosity.

But he felt like he was being watched.

Very closely.

By someone with malice.
