Chapter 5
–
He kept seeing the boy everywhere he turned or looked but he'd be there one minute and then gone the next. Blaine kept talking about him, slowly morphing from looks to interests to actual merits of personality and the genuine person beneath.
The one thing Blaine did not talk about was the dates, nothing about where they went or what they did or what they did. Sebastian had a hard time believing Blaine had someone that incredibly good looking next to him, with the label of boyfriend and they didn't even kiss. At this point he doubted they even held hands.
How could anyone be a boyfriend if they didn't even get friend benefits.
The more Sebastian heard about the boy, the more he wanted him in his own life and so he set about to tracking the boy down. If for nothing else then to at least ask him about his relationship with his roommate.
This was getting insane, it was interfering with his nights out on town. It was stopping him from hooking up with others, hoping he'd see this particular face under him. Or over him, or whatever. He'd seen the face in different lighting now, nothing had hit quite as hard as that first time but he did not find the boy any less attractive. If anything, the awe quality had faded to leave him with the true face and he liked it even more. He had tried to study it at the distance in which he was allowed and found the nuances even more fascinating than the 'holy light' that had first captured his attention.
He didn't even know the guy's name. Every time he asked Blaine, Blaine would be evasive and start talking about something else. Sebastian wondered if Blaine knew it or if it was too difficult for him to pronounce. It was probably a French name, which of course Sebastian would be able to say.
It took him three weeks to finally find the boy in a spot where they could talk somewhat alone. It also looked like for once he wasn't packing up and leaving or walking around a corner just as Sebastian got free to move to his side.
He'd given Blaine nearly two months to lock this down and he hadn't, so now he was fair game. Sebastian just decided that Blaine was using the term loosely and it wasn't actually an official status. He'd have to see what this boy said in return.
"There you are." Sebastian said by greeting, as if they knew each other and were old friends.
The boy's eyes widened in surprise. "You were looking for me?"
"Of course I was." Sebastian shrugged and dropped into the seat across from him. "You're a hard one to pindown."
Getting over his surprise at Sebastian's presence quickly, he muttered in a dry tone. "That's by design."
Sebastian only had a slight misstep with that response. Was the boy avoiding him on purpose? Why? How would he even know to do so? Then the boy's words slithered through his usual filter and he grinned widely as he caught on to unexpected pun. So the guy had a devious side to him, fascinating, he could work with that. "You just haven't met the right guy yet."
A brow rose on the male's forehead. "What makes you think I'm waiting for a guy?"
"You're dating Blaine Anderson, one can only make assumptions about what's going on there and what you're not getting."
The boy muttered something under his breath and then started pack up his books.
"Wait, don't go." Sebastian reached out and almost grabbed the boy's wrist but he moved it in time to avoid being touched. The boy looked at him startled before continuing to pack up, obviously trying to push that back down.
"I shouldn't even be here having this conversation with you." He shook his head in an amazement only he could understand and wasn't intending to explain or share.
"It's not going to get back to Blaine, we haven't done anything wrong." Sebastian wondered if his roommate was a bit more controlling in relationships than he appeared he would be. He seemed chill and supportive but he didn't have any past relationships to judge the truth off of.
"It's not that- Blaine's going to know we talked because I'm going to tell him." The boy shook his head with a small laugh. "What are the odds?"
"Could I at least have a name?" Sebastian hadn't heard what it was and he was listening hard every time Blaine opened his mouth about the boy, to the point that he wondered if Blaine knew.
The boy hesitated and opened his mouth a few times and then closed it before his shoulders drooped. "Kurt."
"Kurt what?" Sebastian hadn't been expecting that name but it strangely fit too.
"That's all." Kurt said having finished packing up and he played with the strap across his chest. "That's all you need." He clarified. "The rest doesn't matter."
"A name matters." Sebastian insisted.
"Tell that to a rose." Kurt shook his head. "See you around."
Sebastian was impressed by the throw away line, what else was rattling around in that skull of his? He didn't get a chance to find out because then Kurt was gone once more.
