This story is my second one intended to last a while. I'm still writing the other one but this one is one that I'm more invested in creating. Also, anyone who has read Model X will notice that my writing style is going to be very different. I'm going to have a lot more scenes told entirely in specific tenses and from different characters' perspectives, mainly Doctor Starline's.

STARLINE POV - PRESENT TENSE
It has been 17 days and I'm still trying to get to that room undetected. This is definitely going to take a while. At least Doctor Eggman had the leeway of not being presumed dead. I, however, have this burden. Yet I shall still overcome it. I can avoid the sensors, reach the location where the Doctor stood over a year ago now, receive my reward and reap the benefits of it.
I never would've thought all of this work would lead me to Prison Island, the place that first inspired me to seek Doctor Eggman some day, some year even, anything to meet my idol.
An idol with a superiority complex. A man so obsessed with himself that he failed to see how his foe could efficiently crush anything and everything tried by Robotnik. I may as well have just hired Mr Tinker and made him think it was for good. Anyone would be a better assistance than Eggman at this point.
Wait a second, that's how I can guarantee victory! I'll go and retrieve some new allies, use said allies to gain power and then ditch them when I'm at the top!
Wait, I've done that before...
I don't think it went that well from my recollection. As in failed miserably.
At least know I have a list of those I shouldn't consider working with or even look at with a telescope that can somehow see another universe.
I'll retrieve what I need first and continue brainstorming ideas later. I just need to go up this elevator shaft, unlock a door and I'm there.
There's a pillar there that I can probably climb up with those magnets I conveniently programmed. Let me just figure out what metal it is...
Steel! Should've expected that. It's a common choice and works for my strategy.
But how can I make sure that the camera doesn't spot me climbing up there?
Hang on, the Electro-spur! I can use it to overcharge the camera and make it seem like there's simply a problem with them.
I have no better or safer options so I suppose this'll have to do.
Going up!
Perfect! Minimal physical damage but enough applied energy to disable it.
Now that I have one problem out of the way, I can finally climb this.
Almost there... nearly... done!
Now to enter the password.
What was it? Let me check.
23...06...200...1!
"Code verified"
There it is... a tool even more useful than the Warp Topaz was.
A glove that can warp you not only across across one planet... but entire dimensions!
The government must be a collection of fools to put that professor's genius invention in a place that was known worldwide to have been broken into so recently.
What am I talking about? Everyone already knew that the government was that foolish before that incident! It's elementary knowledge!
Now, what was I thinking about earlier? It was something along the lines of "I must recruit some new allies to help me rule this pitiful planet."
I should probably start off with that place that always joins Mobius in those sport competitions, the... Mushroom Kingdom, right? Or is that part of it? It doesn't really matter anyways.
They have quite a few competitors in that Smash Bros tournament because one of the leaders of it did come from there and create this technology. Anyways, if I'm correct, I should be able to open a portal there by simply picturing it...
Green hills, tree with the tail, strange and colourful pillars of... something.
A portal opened... it seems like it's right... nobody's around either. Perfect start. Can't wait for that to change.
Actually, I probably can wait. It can take it's sweet time. The weather's forecast to be clear, don't let the winds of change make the reports obsolete.
I need to stay focused on finding somebody on this planet who's willing to assist me with my scheme. Remember, tomadowanai de. [1]
I can do this.
Out of spite or out of sheer will, I'll succeed.
Or my name's not Goho-Tekina Waru Starline. [2]
[1] This comes from the ending song of Sonic X "Fu-tu-re", used for the first 13 episodes in Japan, meaning "don't be bewildered"
[2] It is.
Starline is partly Japanese and partly British. He mainly speaks English aside from a few phrases he finds more intriguing to say in Japanese. In other words, he uses his skill of being bilingual to assert dominance.
