"How's it going LP?", asked Gosalyn, as she looked at LaunchPad drawing some blueprints.
"Pretty well actually. I would've asked Fenton to help me, but he's busy with his job and girlfriend right now. So I'll just do it myself!", he said, looking attentively at something.
"You should probably ask him to look over the blueprints before you actually start building it".
"Don't worry Gos, I know about planes".
Gosalyn nodded nervously before looking over at Drake who only shrugged.
'Are we going to ride with him on this?', Gosalyn mouthed to Drake.
He nodded excitedly in response.
She raised an eyebrow, 'Really?'.
Drake thought about it for a second, "What do you think about this DW?", asked LaunchPad, interrupting the silent conversation.
"It looks good, just like the one on the show", Drake said, looking over LaunchPad's shoulder.
"Perfect! Now to figure out how to make it fly!".
Gosalyn slowly turned to Drake, 'You see what I mean'.
"We'll make W.A.N.D.A. look over them", he whispered to her, understanding why she was worried now.
"Want to learn how planes work Gos?", LaunchPad asked.
"Sure. Maybe I can build my own one day".
"For all of our sakes, it won't be any time soon", Drake said.
"Yeah, yeah. Soon might be different for me than it is for you".
Well that was, somewhat concerning.
Drake walked to the computer to see if there was any crime, which as per usual, there really wasn't.
What good was a superhero that lived in a city with no crime?
Sighing, he went back to Gosalyn and LaunchPad who were deep in their conversation about aerodynamics and engineering.
"I don't think the shape is, you know, practical", Gosalyn said.
"Don't worry. How it's going to fly in that shape is just, kinks we need to work out".
Gosalyn seemed somewhat concerned.
Drake shook his head. Actually, it was concerning.
"I need to go, are you guys ok staying here alone?", Drake asked.
"Sure thing. You can trust us", LaunchPad said.
"Right. I'll be back in a few hours", Drake went to the computer, "Please tell me if anything explodes".
"Sure, so a minute from now?", W.A.N.D.A. answered.
"Just do it", Drake groaned.
Why did Fenton have to give W.A.N.D.A. the ability to be sarcastic?
'Guess it's time to get to work'.
Gosalyn spared a glance at a leaving Drake, "Where do you think he's going?".
"Probably on some secret mission to stop a weapons exchange", LaunchPad answered.
"But he left as a civilian, not as Darkwing. Plus, wouldn't he ask his two partners for help?", Gosalyn said.
"Hmm, I suppose you're right…",LaunchPad pondered the question, "He probably wants us to work on the Thunderquack. It must be something simple. Or he just went to the store, you're running low on pep".
Gosalyn nodded, unsure of what the reason for Drake to leave actually was.
Trying to shake it out of her system, "Where are we going to get the materials for this?", she asked.
"Junkyards are always a good place. And I'm sure we can find parts at a reasonable price somewhere".
"Are you sure it's a good idea to build a plane out of junk?".
"How do you think I repaired the Sunchaser?".
Gosalyn really liked LP, he was fun and easy to be around, but sometimes she grew concerned.
"Where do you think we should get our parts from?", he asked.
'Well, grandpa was provided with the parts by Bulba…', "What about a sponsor? Can't you ask Mr McDuck?".
"It's not that easy. Mr McD is my boss, he already gives me so much, I can't ask for more", he said, as he wrote down something on the paper, "And it will be more special if we make everything ourselves".
Gosalyn cocked her head, not sure if he was scared to ask or if he really just wanted to do this on his own, "So, what's next?".
"The design is finished, so now we should build a model!", LaunchPad said, standing up and walking into a closet.
"A model? For testing?", Gosalyn asked, "Why don't we have someone look over the plans first?".
"No need! I know what I'm doing".
Gosalyn was just going to have to trust that.
LaunchPad notice her unsure look and smiled, having an idea, "I know what we can do".
He disappeared from sight and brought an armful of materials to the table, "We're going to make you fly".
Gosalyns' eyes widened, "Really?! Wait, why?".
"So that you see that I know what I'm talking about. And to have fun".
"I'm in", she said as she started to follow his instructions.
It wasn't long until she had some 'wings' as LP called them, though Gosalyn thought of them as gliders, still, it would let her fly through the air.
They went to the second floor of the building and stood on the edge, "So you can flap to gain some height, but the most important part is not to freak out", LP explained.
"And controlling my direction", Gosalyn added.
"That. And crashing".
"You mean landing?".
"I only know how to crash".
"Crash-land it is", she said, as she prepared to jump off.
"I'm back!", Drake walked in just as Gosalyn took off.
"What's going on?!", he exclaimed as soon as he saw Gosalyn.
"Don't worry, I'm just proving I know a thing or two about flying", LaunchPad said.
"Wohoo!", Gosalyn cheered as she glided around the room.
"Are you sure it's safe?", Drake asked as he walked to stand next to LaunchPad.
"Of course! I've done this many times".
That could explain things, assuming he landed in the same way he landed planes.
"Right".
Drake could feel LaunchPad looking him over, probably wondering where he's been. Drake instead kept an eye on the flying kid.
"Working?", LaunchPad asked.
Drake blinked, "Excuse me?".
"Is that what you were doing? Odd jobs?".
"Huh, well, I guess you figured it out", Drake answered rubbing the back of his head, "I still need food to live".
He went back to watching Gosalyn, mild concern on his face.
"You know, I actually get quite the paycheck", LaunchPad said, "And I already have keep what I don't need in a jar under my bed".
"Oh no, you don't have to do that. I have money saved up from previous gigs. And it's not like I'm not working".
"But protecting the city should take priority! And it's not like you're just looking out for yourself", he said, nodding towards Gosalyn, "Let me help".
Drake smiled gratefully, but not entirely convinced. It's not like LP lived with them, or even in the same city, and he didn't want to depend on LP for income.
But it could help in the future…no, he couldn't accept such a generous offer, could he?
"Whoa!", Drake only caught a glimpse at the falling glider.
"Gosalyn!", Drake and LaunchPad shouted simultaneously, rushing to her side.
Luckily she landed on the couch.
"Are you alright?", Drake asked.
"Nice crash", LaunchPad said.
Gosalyn shook her head and sat up, "That was so much fun!"
Drake sighed in relief.
"Don't worry, I'm still in one piece", she laughed and picked up the glider, "This on the other hand, not so much".
