"See the World!" Chiaki said as she held her hand out over the table covered in mushrooms. Bai Di couldn't see anything change, but watched as Chaiki began to sort the mushrooms into piles. "Food, food, don't eat, food, don't eat..." By the time she was done, two-thirds of the mushrooms were placed to dry as food for the Winter.
"What do we do with the poison ones?" He asked as he held the basket holding the mushroom she had rejected.
"I think just tossing them back into the woods as far from people as you can get them is okay."
Bai Di nodded. "I'll go- Chiaki!" He crid out as his mate suddenly doubled over the table.
"Pain." She gasped.
"Pain? No! You're bleeding!" He said as he saw the stripe of red running down her inner leg.
"Just... period..." She said with a wince from pain.
"I've never seen a female in so much pain going into heat." Bai Di said shaking his head. "I have to get you to the furs."
He scooped Chiaki up and carried her out of the kitchen, through the main part of the house and up into the bedroom. With the main part of the hunting at a lesser need, only two of her three mates were away from home at any given time. Bai Di lay her out on the leather covering the wooden floor and pulled her skirt away, ripping it in his rush.
"Don't do that!" Chaiki said as she pushed her thighs together.
"Let me-" He said as he pushed her knees apart. "I wont do anything."
"That's not what-AH~" Chiaki cride out as a much sharper pain went through her abdomin.
"There's something." Bai Di lifted a hand towards her.
"Dee!"
He pulled his hand away as the thin membrane ruptured passing through the small opening between his mates thighs. A watery substance gushed over the skins he had lain her on. "What's happening?!" Something was wrong with his mate! There was blood and water and-
"Augh!" Chiaki couldn't keep herself from bearing down as another wave of pain rippled through her.
Bai Di watched in fear as a small round off white object peaked out of his mates body, striped with fresh blood and fluids. Chiaki panted. "This feels like-" She grunted.
"There's something coming out!" He said eyes glued to the spot.
Chiaki put a hand on her flat abdomen. This couldn't be? Could it? She's miscarried at the wolf village! Hadn't she? Had the clear gem Curtis gave her heal that too?! "Wha'sit- what's it look like?" she asked with her eyes tightly shut. She didn't want to see- no she couldn't think like that.
"It's white." He replied.
Chiaki slid her hand down, prodding the soft area. It was wet and leathery? Curtis! An egg! "Bai Di, don't prod at it!" She said quickly. "It's an egg! Kurt's eggs!" She curled forward again. "I'm having eggs!"
"Eggs?" Bai Di looked blankly at the small white area. "The snakes offspring?"
"Yes!" Chaiki pushed again. She felt the egg slip from her body and she crid out as the pain became sharp then receded.
"It's out! One is out!" Bai Di said as he reached for the oblong object. He placed it to the side and returned to the labouring female. "What do I do?!"
"Just- just don't let them get squashed." Chiaki gulped. The pain was starting to build again. "I think another is coming."
Bai Di pushed her thighs wider. The blood was more prominent than the water now, with a mixture of the broken sack the egg had been preceded by. "I don't see any yet."
"Okay."
Minutes passed and the edges of the leather cover began to dry. Chiaki pushed a few more time, each time there was a small pain. Still nothing peaked out from her body. She pushed herself back up, sitting up and touching her body. She only felt the sack. "Where?" She breathed.
"Where?"
"The rest of the eggs. Kurt said I would have a clutch, a whole bunch!" She said in panic.
Bai Di plaved a hand on his mates head. "It's okay, just keep pushing. Do you want a healer?!"
She shook her head. She didn't even feel as bad as when she'd given birth to Kimba. The cub was only two pounds at birth and the egg she had just birthed could fit in the palm of her hand. "No, I just... need... to..." She bit her lip and felt something pushing it way through her lower body.
She saw Bai Di's hand and felt the item leave her body. "It's... it's only more...mess." He said slowly.
Chiaki let herself drop backwards, panting heavily. Her body was still giving her little signals to push, but she couldn't. She felt- hollow. Bai Di sounded like she was listening to him through water. She closed her eyes to rest, just a little.
