After Daffy, Bugs and Porky were asleep, Tom was with Jerry and Spike.
"Do you think they'd be interested in hearing how we met?"
"Why would my friends be interested in hearing about us? All you ever do is chase each other like I just said. They're not here to watch you guys run around every day. That's too boring. I'll head out to my doghouse and sleep there."
"Spike, of course they aren't here to watch us. They want to be friends is all."
"Jerry's right, Spike. We'd love to be friends with yours if they are interested."
"This isn't about you and I sharing the same friends like several people do. I'm going to sleep. We can talk in the morning."
Tom and Jerry didn't want to argue with him. All they were able to do was watch him walk into his doghouse.
"I like the rabbit," Tom told Jerry.
"I like the pig. I forgot their names."
"So did I."
Early the next morning, Tom and Spike were the first ones to wake up. Jerry, Daffy, Bugs and Porky were still asleep.
"Your friends must be tired after what we did yesterday."
"They came a long way to get here," he reminded Tom.
He purred.
"Why are you purring for?"
"No reason. I just felt like it. Is there anything wrong with the purring I do?"
"Of course not. It sounds weird to me when you do that, even if it means you hardly do."
"Fine then. I'll stop purring. Next time I do it, nobody should be around to hear me."
There was no way for Spike's friends to rush and wake up right away. Let them take all the time they need.
About twenty seconds later, Porky was up first. He was able to find them awake.
"Good - morning," he said.
Spike looked over his shoulder.
"Good - morning, Porky. How was your first night here?"
"I did okay."
"We made sure you guys were comfortable, didn't we?"
"Yes, you did. That's what we appreciate from you, Spike. You're a good friend."
"Thank you," Spike replied.
After he said that, Daffy and Bugs, along with Jerry woke up as well.
"Look who's awake," Jerry said.
"Did we miss anything, Doc?" Bugs asked.
"We're not doctors," Tom told him.
"Tom, that's how Bugs has always talked. You were like that when we met," Daffy replied.
"Exactly right," Porky agreed, looking at Spike.
"Nothing wrong with calling you Doc, is there?"
"No. Call us anything you want, Bugs. You're on vacation hanging out with friends you haven't seen in a long time," Spike told him.
There was no response, and Spike didn't need one.
"What are we doing today, Spike?" Daffy asked.
"Same old stuff. These two just do the same thing every day. It's boring when they keep doing it all the time."
"What is the same old stuff Tom and Jerry do?" Porky asked, forgetting they saw Tom and Jerry chase each other when they arrived yesterday.
"Show my friends what you guys do every day."
Both Tom and Jerry knew what he meant. They both started to chase each other.
Bugs, Daffy, and Porky weren't surprised on how fast Tom and Jerry were. They've seen this before. Today was their second day here with Spike.
"That owner of yours sure was nice for us to stay inside," Daffy said to Spike.
"A real sweet lady too. I was here before Tom and Jerry moved in. I enjoyed that until these two showed up and starting to chase each other all day, and that includes today."
Tom and Jerry continued running around. Their hearts were beginning to pound. That's when they started getting tired and decided now was a good time for a break.
"Do your friends know you're out on vacation?"
"We don't tell them anything."
"Even Doc doesn't know either," Bugs pointed out.
"Who's Doc?" Spike asked.
"A hunter named Elmer Fudd."
"Why would be care if you are away?"
"He wants to hunt for me."
They kept talking about different things until there was nothing else to say. Some of it was useless.
"Maybe we could introduce Tom and Jerry to a friend of ours. He's a fast runner himself," Porky replied.
"They would be friends immediately," Daffy agreed.
"What's his name?" Jerry asked.
"Road Runner. He never gets tired of it either."
"We're interested in meeting your friend."
"We'll have to talk with him and see if he'd like to come out on our vacation," Bugs said.
"That's a good idea, but it was meant for us," Daffy reminded Bugs.
"Thanks for the reminder."
"You're welcome. We'll see what we can work out."
