Chapter One Hundred and Fourteen
**Meagan's Point of View**
I gave a long sigh, throwing down the book I was trying to read but was really going out of my mind, being stuck on the couch or in my bed for most of the day, not able to do anything in the investigation into what was going on. The man who tried to take Sasha had not given us anything more, had even tried to reconnect with the person who hired him but the connection he was given no longer worked or even traceable. The investigation into the bomb was wielding more information with Anakin and Ashoka interviewing the survivors, the Temple workers, slowly beginning to put together what happened. Hopefully whoever this person was could led us to the Sith, who we felt was ultimately behind this, one way or another. Sasha thankfully, while having occasional nightmares or being extra clingy to one of us, was adjusting to this much better than I was. There was a Sith actively after my daughter, there was nothing I could do and I'd never felt so helpless in my life before. Obi-Wan kept reminding me that by staying in bed I was doing the best thing I could do, protecting the next member of our family. That argument only worked part of the time. If the baby was already born and I was actively caring for and protecting him, I think I would feel at least a little better. On that score, Master Jessie said the baby was doing well but she still wanted me to keep off my feet.
"I know it's frustrating for you, especially since both of you are doing well, but I don't want you to do too much and endanger your lives again." She told me the other day when she dropped by to check on us. "If there are no more complications or issues by next week, we can adjust it, let you do some more and see how both you and the baby react. You two have been through a lot, so I am being more cautious."
I certainly understood why she was making this decision and if my daughter hadn't just been nearly taken again, I might have had a different reaction. But it was what it was. She also suggested practicing breathing meditation techniques for when I was in labor. It would at least give me something to do.
"Here I brought dinner." Obi-Wan, interrupting my thoughts, entered our quarters, Sasha following behind, set it down on the table near where I was sitting. "Sasha, why don't you go play in your room for a few minutes?" Once she was gone, he turned to me. "How are you?"
"Bored out of my mind." He sat down next to me, reaching over to kiss me gently. "Any new updates?"
He shook his head. "Anakin and Ahsoka are compiling everything they gathered but nothing has stood out to them yet, but they still have some others to talk to, something will break soon."
I certainly hoped so as I reached for the tray he brought. I was about to get up to get plates but he rose first.
"I'll get everything, you stay here." He gave me a look.
Sasha meanwhile had come back into the room, climbing up next to me, wanting to tell me about her day. We finished dinner and it drove me crazy as Obi-Wan started Sasha's normal bed time routine. Once she was asleep in bed, Obi-Wan came back and asked me. "Do you need anything?"
"Oh, I think I can come up with something." I gave him a twisted grin to which he gave me back.
"Maybe I should rephase my question, something within the realm of possibility."
I gave a dramatic sigh. "I guess not."
He sat down next to me then reached over, rubbing my shoulders and back, making me hum in pleasure. "Any particular spot?"
"Mmm….a little lower…."
"Better?" He asked a few minutes later as I felt my body was much more relaxed, the baby also growing sleepy and settled.
"Mmmh…." I answered rather sleepily, curling closer to him. He cuddled me for a little bit before suggesting I get some rest. Too relaxed to argue, I allowed him to help me up and into our room. Not too much later I settled into bed, yawning, falling to sleep rather quickly.
**Obi-Wan's Point of View**
After making sure Meagan was settled for the day, unhappily in the living room, I dropped Sasha off at the creche with her promising not to go far from her Masters. I was about to head off to the archives to start some research when my com link started going off. Anakin reported that they finally had a lead in who set up the bomb, a temple worker by the name of Jackar Bowmani and they were starting to investigate him and his wife, Leta Turmond.
"How's Meagan?" He asked after he was done.
I gave a small sigh. "Frustrated at being off her feet but fine otherwise."
He gave a relieved laugh. "That's good to hear. I'll keep you updated to what we find Master."
I soon found Masters Windu and Yoda and passed along what Anakin and Ashoka learned. "Finally moving forward this case is." They were both relieved with the news.
"Meet in the detention center, maybe our guest can shed some more light on this couple."
"Very good Master."
However, when Master Windu and I met with the kidnapper, a man that only went by Garman, he showed no recognition at that name or anything about them, but neither of us were too surprised at that.
As Master Windu and I left, he quietly mused. "So, the plot thickens."
Rubbing my chin in deep thought, I ventured out. "It seems there are several players in this without the others realizing it. Someone hired Bowmani to cause a diversion with a bomb in order for Garman to come in and to kidnap Sasha."
"Do you think Dooku is ultimately behind this? Or could it be someone who has a beef with the Jedi and decided to act on it by taking one of our own?" Windu mused.
I thought on that for long moments before speaking. "If we did not know the Sith were coming for Sasha, I might be willing to say it was the later but since we do know and there have already been attempts on her life, I would bet it is Dooku."
"Then who is working for him to coordinate all of this, especially since our latest intel show him to be on Serenno?"
I gave a sigh. "I don't know, hopefully Anakin and Ashoka can get either Bowmani or Turmond to talk."
"They may not know anything more than Garman does."
"He was recruited in a bar, while Turmond apparently has been involved in anti-war demonstrations. Whoever this person is, must have been attending these meetings and knows who she is and that her husband worked here."
"Which means that she may have a name for us." Master Windu finished. "Though that explains about the bomb but not about the attempting kidnapping."
"Could it be possible that Dooku hired this person to coordinate both the bomb and the attempt to take Sasha?"
"It certainly could be." We were quiet for long moments, each contemplating different scenarios until he spoke into the silence. "Until Anakin and Ashoka have the couple in custody and have interrogated them, all we have are theories."
"Though it is pretty clear, there is probably another master mind out there," I put in, trying to keep my paternal protectiveness from taking over. "What are the chances of this other being trying again? Come up with another distraction to get to Sasha or just come in on his or her own."
The older Master put his hand on my shoulder, "I guess there is always that possibility but I would think the chances would be lower. However, they have proven to be rather crafty in this."
"Maybe we should increase security around all of the younger children," I put in. "I would not want to see any more of them getting hurt."
"I agree. We do not have much to spare but some of the older Padawans could take turns and it would disturb the children less."
I nodded, that seemed like the best we could do with the rest of the Jedi and the troops being spread nearly too thin around the rest of the galaxy.
It took a couple days, but Anakin and Ashoka found Leta Turmond, while learning her husband, Bowmani, became the bomb by ingesting the nano droids and was now dead. However, thankfully, she was in custody as there was enough evidence to keep her. She mentioned enough to confirm there was another person who recruited and hired her for this job, which meant that Sasha was still in danger.
"Don't worry Master," Anakin assured me when he commed me with the news as I watched Meagan and Sasha sitting together on the couch, reading a story together. "We'll get her to talk and find this other person. Sasha is safe."
Watching my family, I hoped he was right.
**Third person point of view**
"You do not have her yet?" Casey Donnovan asked Barries Offee after she answered her comlink. They had met at the anti-war meetings and both wanted to do something about it, so he helped hatch this plan. Since then, they only contacted each other when it was absolutely necessary as they didn't want anyone to think they were conspiring together.
"No, but I am being assigned to creche guard duty so I can lure the child out that way. No one will suspect me." Though she sounded more confident than she actually was.
Donnovan snorted. "This whole plan has been shot to pieces. I would like to get something from this." He paused for a moment. "Do the Jedi suspect anyone from the inside?"
"Besides Bowmani, no. Garman didn't even know who I am."
He contemplated their situation for a long moment. "Were you at least able to plant the evidence in Tano's quarters?"
She shook her head, frowning. "I was going to do it in the confusion after the bomb went off, but I soon learned Ashoka Tano captured Garman when he was trying to kidnap the Kenobi kid. Now no one would believe she would have planned both the bomb and the kidnapping, then turned around and save her."
Donnovan growled in near frustration that nothing was going according to plan, especially when each piece depended on the other. He wanted to ask her exactly how Tano managed to interfere but decided it wasn't that important now, only trying to at least, somehow, still get to the end goal. "Though I am afraid Leta Turmond will turn you in. We should not have used someone that knew you."
Barriss glared at him. "You agreed to hiring her. It was the best way to accomplish our goal and you know it."
Donnovan grudgingly agreed but continued on. "Now, I am sending you the coordinates to where you can bring the girl. As soon as you have her, contact me. We have to get off planet as quickly as possible before the Jedi realize she's gone."
"I will."
"Do it quickly. My boss is growing impatient and the longer you wait, the harder it will be to get to her."
"Well, I could hardly do it before as her father was keeping her close to him." Barris protested.
Donnovan growled underneath his breath. "Get her now and we will both get paid and away from here." With that the connecting went out.
**Anakin's Point of View**
While Ashoka and I were deciding on how to question Leta and what exactly to ask, one of the Padawans who assisted the Council said they had received word that Leta had wanted to speak to Ashoka. While I could understand the request, with Sasha still in danger, I felt it wasn't in my Padawan's best interest to go alone, so the two of us nearly immediately headed over to the detention center. Once we arrived, I felt it was best to meet in an integration room where there would be clone witnesses on the other side of the window. Before they brought her in, I made sure the audio and recording were working. Once Leta was brought in, she sat down with Ashoka and I across from her.
"You wanted to see me?" Ashoka asked.
Leta looked a bit uncomfortable. "Yes, but I thought you would come alone."
I shrugged. "I'm sorry but we felt it would be best if she didn't."
She was quiet for long moments before telling her story, how much her husband had loved and supported the Jedi, while she thought they are the reason for this never-ending war. He continued to work for the Jedi despite her feelings toward it and there didn't seem to be a way to solve this difference until she met a disillusioned Jedi at her anti-war meetings. It took a little time but Turmond said they came up with this plan.
"And the Jedi who hired you?" Ashoka asked in a quiet voice, just as shocked as I was.
"Barris Offee." Both Ashoka and I were even more shocked. I knew this had to have been an inside job and thought the non-Jedi worker explained it but not this, not her.
"Do you know a man named Garman?"
"No. Why should I?"
Ashoka and I exchanged glances. "He was the other part of this attack. You set up the bomb so he could come in with all the confusion to kidnap Sasha Kenobi."
She held up her hands, looking absolutely flabbergasted. "I know nothing about taking a child. I was only hired to make the bomb. I wanted to make a statement about the Jedi and the war."
"Are you sure?" Ashoka asked, wanting to be for certain.
"Yes, absolutely positively."
Ashoka and I exchanged glances again, both of us believing her. While she finished talking to Leta, I got up, going over to a far corner of the room, pulling out my com link to talk to Obi-Wan.
"It's Barris Offee." He seemed to be just as shocked as we were. "Leta knows nothing about the kidnapping attempt."
"So Sasha's still in danger." He finished. "I'll get her guarded and then go after Padawan Offee. Keep this quiet Anakin, we don't want her to know we are onto her."
"Yes Master." I assured him. "We will be back at the Temple shortly."
After finishing up, ordering the clones not to say a word, and making sure we had a clean recorded copy of the interview, we headed back to the Temple.
**Third Person Point of View**
Barris Offee knew, even with being assigned rotating creche guard duty, her time to take Sasha Kenobi from the Temple would be limited. However, it was possible for her to lure the little girl away before the rest of the Jedi realized it and before Leta Turmond turned her in. She could turn over the Kenobi brat, collect her pay check and be off planet before it was too late.
So far she had managed to convince the little girl to leave with her, that her father asked her to bring her to him.
"Where are we going?" Sasha asked as they walked along the corridors.
"It's a surprise." Barris whispered conspiringly, smiling as she did so, leading her toward a side exit.
Another moment or two passed before Sasha asked. "Are we going to Dexter's?"
Not wanting anything to go wrong, Barris played along. "You must act surprised when we get there."
"Goodie." Barris held back the sigh, that seemed to have worked. "I can do that."
"Come along youngling." Barris said, trying not to be sharp with her. "We don't want to be late."
All was quiet for long moments and Barris was thinking she would pull this off but Sasha suddenly started shaking her head. The same voice she heard before echoing to her through the Force, telling her to run. "No, I don't want to. This feels wrong."
"Come along. Your parents are waiting."
"No." Sasha tried to get away, even managed it once but Barris was obviously bigger and stronger and caught her quickly. "Let me go."
The struggle continued as they neared the door. Until a hard voice echoed from behind them.
"Let her go."
"Daddy!" Sasha cried, fighting harder to get away.
Barris managed to pull her blade across Sasha, who stilled suddenly. "I would not try anything Master Kenobi or one slip would end her life."
Obi-Wan contemplated that, obviously trying to stall for time. "Now Barris, whatever deal you have, I am sure I am worth a whole lot more than Sasha. Let her go and take me hostage."
"So, you can manage to sneak away from me?" She laughed, sounding rather cruel. "I don't think so."
However, the moment or two of banter had been enough. She turned to drag Sasha out the side entrance and saw several clones landing on the platform.
"Give it up." Obi-Wan called. "We have you surrounded."
Barriss knew there was at least a handful of troopers behind the Jedi but also knew they wouldn't shoot her to only accidentally hit the kid. They were waiting for the Jedi's orders. However, just for a second, she kept her attention focused only on the lighted blade and the utter fierceness that blazed in Obi-Wan's eyes. But a second was all it took for Sasha, using the Force, to switch off the lightsaber. Barris's shock lasted for less than a second, but it was enough for the trouble some brat to slip out of her grasp and run. Immediately Kenobi pounced so she had mere nano seconds to ignite and raise her blade. The sabers sizzled and crashed together as they battled in the now nearly empty hallway. Several of the men having obviously taken the youngling to safety. The battle raged for long moments until he rather skillfully managed to disarm her, just as several other Jedi all armed, arrived.
Barris stared at all of them in stony silence, not answering any of their questions. While a few of the Masters took her into custody, Obi-Wan went to find where Cody had taken his daughter.
**Obi-Wan's Point of View**
I hurried down the corridor, letting the other Jedi handle Offee. My top priority was making sure Sasha was okay. I found her with Cody and several of my men, down several corridors, completely away from the danger.
"Daddy." She jumped up from where she was sitting and ran up to me, throwing her arms around my legs.
I knelt and pulled her close. "Are you okay? Did she hurt you?"
She shook her head. "I'm sorry, Daddy, I didn't feel she was bad. She says you were waiting for me."
"It is alright." I told her. "She fooled all of us, but she will not be able to hurt anyone now."
"I heard my new friend again." Sasha told me. "He told me to run, so I tried to get away."
I stared at her for long moments, before explaining again that it was the Force that was guiding her, not a person.
Sasha stared at me, her brow furrowed, looking exactly like her mother before Meagan would make a counter argument to my point. However, before she could argue, Anakin and Ashoka came up asking what happened. Once we finished discussing the situation, I dismissed my men, taking Sasha back to our quarters while Anakin and Ashoka went to check with other Council members about their interview with Turmond.
On our way home, Sasha told me again what "this voice" was telling her.
"Sasha, I really think it's the Force you are hearing. You are just not old enough to know the difference."
My daughter did not look like she believed me, but we were soon entering our quarters.
Needless to say, Meagan was not pleased a second attempt was made to take Sasha, all from inside the Temple itself. Trying to keep Meagan from going after Offee was rather difficult, to the point I had to threaten to tie her down, trying to assure her the danger was past and Sasha was safe.
**Meagan's Point of View**
"So, it's over then, completely over?" I asked as Obi-Wan explained everything.
"I believe so." He sighed, reaching out to finger the curls falling down my shoulder. "We can't confirm Dooku or another sith was in contact with Padawan Offee. She certainly could have been the mastermind in this or unknowingly been working with Dooku, but there is nothing else to go on to prove it."
I sighed, rubbing my middle, not liking this. "Is it safe to even let Sasha go back to her classes?"
"I do not see the Sith trying this again." He said calmly, rationally.
"No, they will just try another way." I sassed back.
He gave a sigh, "I know it seems that way but I think we just need to make sure the creche keeps a closer eye on her."
I didn't quite agree but decided not to argue his point but take the conversation down a different avenue. "You know, we can always just leave, disappear somewhere, where the Sith can't find us."
He glanced down to my swollen middle. "Meagan, you are pregnant and on partial bed rest, I think living on some back water planet would not be the best decision for you or the baby's health."
I glared at him. "Alright, then as soon as this baby is born, we are leaving."
Obi-Wan raised an eyebrow, a slight smirk playing on his face. "So, minutes after giving birth, you are going to pack up everything and board a ship to go where?"
I was still glaring at him. "Alright then, when the Healer's have given me and the baby a clean bill of health."
He sat down next to me, placing a hand on my middle where the baby started stretching before giving me a jab. "You know we can't."
I closed my eyes, hating that answer, but did not feel like starting an argument right now. So I decided to start another conversation. "What did you think about Sasha insisting someone was helping her?"
He looked thoughtful for long moments before speaking, "I think she is feeling the Force more strongly but interprets it differently. I do not think it is anything else."
"What if she really is hearing voices? Is that possible? Maybe this is been more traumatic on her than we realize."
"Possibly."
"Maybe it would be a good idea for her to talk to a Healer about this, she is so young."
"Maybe," With that he took my hand and squeezed it. "it will be alright."
I managed a small smile. "I hope so."
**Obi-Wan's Point of View**
The next few days passed quickly. Garman and Leta Turmond were turned over to the Senate to try them for their crimes of attempted kidnapping and the making and disbursing of a bomb. Offee confessed her part of the crime, saying the Jedi had lost their way, that they only valued violence, battles, and power, not the peaceful order it should be. The Senate wanted us to turn over Offee to them for prosecuting, but we told them as Offee was a Jedi, making part of this an internal matter and we would handle her. Some in the Senate were not happy with this decision, but the Council stood strong, not giving in to the whims of the Senate or the public. After some deliberations, the Council decided Offee's fate, that she would be imprisoned but assigned to psychiatric treatment. While questioning Offee, we asked again who else was involved, who might have hired her and she said it was all her own doing, besides the two we already caught, she was working alone. The majority of the Council did not believe her, we felt sure there was at least someone she was reporting to that was responsible to Dooku, even if Offee didn't know he or she was. However, she denied it all. Unfortunately, we hit a dead end to get to the Sith. As frustrating and disappointing as that was, it was a victory in the fact Sasha was not taken from us.
Sasha was bouncing back slowly but surely. After such a surprising inside job to take her, we decided to implement some new rules. With the bomb and attempted kidnapping, we decided to work harder at making sure there was some sort of rotating guard duty for the younger Jedi, either with the Padawans or Clones. But concerning Sasha, no one except myself, Meagan, Anakin, Padme, Ashoka and Bant, as one of her Masters, were allowed to take her from the creche, excluding class activities such as going to lunch or the gardens. When going over this with Sasha, she understood, I would think mostly due to how Offee managed to lure her from the safety of the creche.
**Third Party Point of View**
"Your report?" Sidious asked his apprentice Count Dooku.
"He is taken care of." Dooku said, a bit put out. After all Donnovan had been a great agent, a good one to get things he needed done quickly and quietly. It was a shame really but when Barris had been caught, Sidious immediately contacted him in case she had turned him in and therefore the Jedi would not be far behind. "The Jedi might find his body, but there is no evidence that will lead them back to us. I am confident Donnovan never told Offee who he worked for."
"Good." Though the Dark Lord of the Sith looked far from pleased. "Though I am sure Kenobi will know we are still ultimately behind this plot."
"But knowing and then proving it true and finding us is far different."
Sidious scowled. "One of these days the difference will not matter."
"Yes, my Master." Dooku bowed slightly. "Now what about the Kenobi child?"
The Dark Lord contemplated that for long moments, still seething at, once again, failing to get the girl. Finally he said nearly growling. "Nothing for now. Another opportunity will come along, so keep your eyes and ears open."
"Yes, my Master." With that the connection closed.
The Sith drummed his fingers along the top of his desk, trying to think of a way to get a hold of this kid. However, he had failed so many times now that he was beginning to wonder if she would even be worth it, especially if he had to do it himself, revealing himself to the Jedi. On the other hand, he knew once he firmly had her, Skywalker would follow and that alone would be worth whatever he had to do. Besides killing the Kenobi's in the process would be fun. He was a patient man, as a politician and a Sith, and he would continue to be patient. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi played a good long game but so could he.
**Obi-Wan's Point of View**
"How doing with this are you?" It was more of a question than a statement but it made me think for long moments before answering the older master after I dropped off Sasha to the creche.
"Better." I was honest. "Meagan is nearly off of bed rest as Master Jessie feels she and the baby will be fine."
Master Yoda smiled slightly, nodding thoughtfully before speaking. "Glad to hear that I am but about the other I was referring."
I instantly knew he was not asking about how Sasha was handling this recent attempt and not just how I was dealing with this as a father, but my instincts about it being a Jedi. I took several minutes to gather my thoughts. "The Sith will try again, this will never be completely over until they either succeed in taking and keeping her or they are dead. The Sith is playing a long game, he has not minded losing a few battles along the way as long as he wins this war."
"Next move what is it?"
"I am not sure, he has always moved behind others, seeing opportunities and using certain situations to his benefit, such as Caddock's need for revenge and hiring Cad Bane. He may think we are the wiser to who is really behind the plot….." But I was getting the feeling he knew I knew.
Yoda sensed my train of thought. "Cunning our enemy is, must have guessed we would have deduced the truth by now, especially with several failed attempts."
I nodded. "Though knowing and finding him are two different things."
"Enough of his plans fail, bring him out of the shadows it might, or come after her on his own he might eventually."
"And expose himself now?"
The older Master shook his head. "Only if we have lost the war and totally in control he is, will that happen."
"Or if he gets desperate enough." I added. "As a last resort."
"Make a mistake then he might, ready to act then we must."
I turned my gaze across the city, the fog hanging over the highest buildings, obscuring our view, like how this war was changing us and not for the better, the darkness in the Force clouding out the light. "Unless something he can't resist occurs. At least in the past he did not immediately act after failing to take her, like he wants us to let our guard down around her. He will not act soon. I do not think or believe he is really ready to make his final move."
Yoda's ears perched upward at my last statement. "Believe he will do it next time you do."
"Possibly." I reasoned. "I could be mistaken but he must be frustrated at his failure so he decides to do it himself, forcing us to face him."
"In the end between the Sith and you and Skywalker. Destiny there will be decided."
I nodded, feeling more than likely that certainly could be the outcome.
"Keep our eyes open we must for other attacks."
"Is Sasha even safe in the Temple anymore?" I ventured after several moments of thoughtful silence.
Yoda paused, stretching into the Force. "Safer here, where help can easily come, than alone somewhere else." I nodded as he continued. "Thinking of leaving are you?"
I gave a long sigh. "Not exactly."
He was contemplative for long moments. "Hard on her this is."
That was putting it mildly, but I only said. "It has been hard being forced off her feet, it makes it worse when she cannot do anything."
Master Yoda chuckled, but it was sober at the same moment. "Maybe good it is, or go after all of them she would."
"Meagan already killed one man that came after Sasha, I would not put it past her to do it again."
"Strong enough she will never be to defeat a Sith."
"In terms of using Force abilities or dueling, yes, but her strength lies in their greatest weakness." He looked curious and thoughtful, so I persisted. "The Sith cannot love, they claim feelings are a weakness, they do not understand that love in its purest form gives strength and power to those who love selflessly. Meagan is strongest and does things she could never do in a normal situation when she is protecting and defending those she loves the most."
"If underestimated her or dismiss her, could prove to be his undoing or just enough for one of us to act."
We both contemplated that conclusion before he asked. "Handling this Sasha is?"
I nodded. "As well as expected. Although Bant tells me she doesn't stray far from her." I paused briefly wondering if I should ask him but went ahead. "She is still strongly stating someone was guiding her, telling her to run, both times."
"Hearing voices she is not." Yoda sounding assured me.
While that did provide some relief, it still didn't completely explain what she was hearing.
"Again, describe to me what she said."
"Sasha said it was a male voice giving her instructions." I repeated exactly what she told me. "She described it, not as the feeling of the Force guiding her but a distinct Force presence, like there was another person there but there was not."
He was quiet for long moments before clarifying. "Insistent on this is she?"
I nodded. "She had been increasingly stubborn about it."
"Wonder where she got that from I do." He glanced at me, looking rather amused.
"From her mother." I smirked back.
"Mmmh…." Master Yoda said little else for long moments. "Two possibilities there are. Guided by the Force but think or felt it was something else."
"Or?"
"Many aspects there are of the Force but understand them all we do not. In the realm of the unknown this could be."
I contemplated that for long moments. "What is your opinion?"
He almost gave a shrug. "Do not believe it is one more than the other. Meditate on this we both will." I nodded in agreement. "If hears it again she does, hear it then I would like."
"She only hears it when she's in immediate danger, but I will certainly let you know."
"Protecting her it is….like a puzzle to solve this is."
I shook my head. "As much as I would like to know exactly what she is hearing, I would rather her not."
"Speaking like her father that is." He was not scolding, only making a statement. "Important I feel this might be."
"With the Sith?" I asked, trying to follow his train of thought.
"Maybe." He drew contemplative again. "Protect her from them this somehow might, the more we know, more useful it would be."
As a trained Jedi Master, I certainly agreed, but as a sometimes-overprotective father, I did not think so at all.
**Third Person Point of View**
Chancellor Palpatine sat behind his desk, trying not to let his frustration show. But it was hard, very hard. He had not recruited Barriss Offee, Dooku's agent had come across her and together they made the plan. He thought it was solid and would accomplish several goals, so he gave his approval. Donnovan could get his hands dirty and Offee was not aware of him or Dooku being involved and she actually believed they were going to sell Sasha Kenobi to the highest bidder. But in reality, the young Kenobi would finally be in his grasp, without the Jedi being any wiser. But once again, while he was pleased with Kenobi's obvious abilities to protect herself, everything went wrong and he missed another opportunity. He was not too surprised the Jedi kept the attempted kidnapping quiet, trying to protect the little girl. However, what did surprise him was the quietness of Meagan Kenobi. While he accepted the reason of her stepping back was because they needed her working in the Temple and to protect her from another enemy's attack but why was she not being active in an attack that involved her own daughter and the Jedi Temple? He had to think there was something else going on with Meagan Kenobi but he didn't know what and he wasn't sure how he could find out without looking suspicious. The Supreme Chancellor would not need to question the decision of the Jedi Council concerning one non-Jedi personal. But Lord Sidious great Lord of the Sith absolutely needed to know what was going on with the one person who was ruining his plans. He leaned back in his chair, contemplating his next move concerning the Kenobi's. He knew he needed to remove the protective guard that seemed to be over their daughter but with Meagan staying within the walls of the Temple, he was not sure how he could get to her. Though he thought he at least had a chance to plan something concerning the Jedi Master, he had proved to be very difficult to kill.
