I'm sorry I haven't been updating any of my stories for a while. It's just not only have I been busy, but I've also been having writer's block. But I will still try to keep up with my stories.
Friends or Conspirators
Leo was sitting down on the couch with his drawing book. He had his markers out and was drawing a picture of a hedge maze and munching on some apple slices while Sofia was in a chair talking to Oswald.
"Leave it to Ed Nygma to find a way to turn his idiocy into a tool for revenge," said Oswald, "And everything was running so tidily. Now I have nothing but headaches. No one appreciates how hard it is to be a crime lord."
"I did actually spend my childhood being raised by one," Sofia replies raising her hand.
"My very point," Oswald says pointing at Sofia, "In fact, I thought we would have lunch together and talk over the vagaries of this capricious calling."
Sofia replies, "I'd love to help, but..."
Oswald cuts her off, "If it's Leo you're worried about, I know some restaurants that have amazing meal choices for kids."
"Oh no, it's not that," Sofia explains, "I have to see the caterer for the orphanage fund-raiser."
As Sofia got up Oswald said, "Of course. I can't expect you to be at my beck and call."
"You need a different source of relaxation, Oswald," Sofia said rubbing Oswald's shoulder, "You need chickens."
Oswald frowns with a look of confusion, "I'm sorry?"
"Grandpa had chickens," Leo says with a smile.
Sofia nods, "Yes he did, I'm sure you remember my father's chickens?"
"I seem to recall the Don's predilection for poultry," Oswald replies.
"He understood that life couldn't just be about business," Sofia explains, "When his troubles were greatest, he spent time with his birds."
Leo nods, "But if it was me I would've picked horses. I love horses, but I love cats too."
"You think I need... chickens?" Penguin asks wanting to confirm what Sofia was saying.
"An interest outside the business," Sofia explains, "Give it some thought. We'll talk about it when I get back."
Sofia walked over to Leo and said, "Leo stay with Oswald. You listen to him and follow the rules."
Leo nods, "Yes Mama."
Sofia hugs and kisses her son, and said, "Good boy." Then Sofia left.
Leo walked over to the window and saw two kids one boy and one girl bullying Martin by taking his notepad that he keeps around his neck and they were throwing it around like it was a ball while the other kids were watching in amusement.
Leo's blood boiled as he could hear the bullies. "Loser. Wedgie! That must've hurt. Grab him." They gave Martin back his notebook, but they were still hurting him and then walked away.
"Alright that's enough!" Leo mutters in anger.
Leo in anger ran out of the door and down the stairs to the playground. When Leo saw Martin he ran over to help him. He then walked over to where the bullies' backpacks with a jug of gasoline that he found next to the door outside and poured it all over the bullies' backpacks. Martin walked over to him and wrote in his notepad, "What are you doing?"
"They won't leave you alone," Leo said with a frown, "And I'm tired of them picking on you."
Martin wrote "Thanks Leo."
Leo nods and then asks him, "Do you have any matches?"
Martin nods and pulls out a box of matches. But just before they were going to light the match, Oswald, who was watching them, decided to stop them.
Oswald opened the window and said, "Boy, Leo come here this instant." The two boys walked over to the window.
"What do you two think you're doing?" Oswald asks.
Martin and Leo looked at each other and back at Oswald, and Leo answers, "We're stopping them Mr. Penguin, because they won't leave him alone." Martin then drew a picture of a fire on his notepad.
"You two cannot do things like that. Your enemies will know it was you," Oswald told them.
Leo looked at Martin who then wrote a question mark and Leo looks back at Oswald and asks, "Then what do you think we should do?"
Oswald smiled and said, "Come on up."
Leo was sitting next to Martin as Oswald was talking to them and said, "Revenge is never as simple as a mere tit for a tat. Revenge must be specific in nature," Oswald explains and then says to Martin, "Now, when you imagine revenge against your two juvenile tormentors, what do you see?"
Martin drew a dead person with knives through their eyes and showed it to Leo who drops his mouth open and then he showed it to Penguin and he said, "That might be a little overly ambitious. We must be crafty."
Then he looked at Leo and said, "Tell me Leo, did your grandfather ever teach you how to deal with people who you treat you poorly?"
Leo thought for a moment and responds, "Well he did tell me that the best way is to either trick them or find a way to turn them against each other."
Oswald smiles and nods, "That's true and to turn people against each other we must use tactics. For instance, friendship can be an especially deadly tactic. How do you think you might use friendship to drive a wedge between your two antagonists?"
Martin looked at Leo and then wrote on his notepad, "They're both flunking math." After Oswald read it he gave a thoughtful look, "And you Martin, I imagine are very good at math?" Martin nods. "Excellent tell me more."
A few hours later, Leo was looking at Martin's bullies who were now fighting with each other and Oswald said from behind, "Friendship is just a great form of manipulation, isn't it?"
Leo turns around and smiles at Oswald, "Thanks for helping Martin Mr. Penguin," Leo said to Oswald, "It's just he's my friend, we're best friends and I hate it when the other kids bully him."
Martin then walked over to them. "Well done," Oswald praised him, "Feels good, does it not?"
Martin smiled and nodded.
Leo smiled, "Nice one Martin." The two friends then high five each other.
"See, minions are so much better than friends," Oswald said to the two boys.
Martin frowns a little and then writes in the notepad, "But we're all friends." After Oswald read it he crumples the paper and replies, "Listen Martin, Leo, the greatest friend I ever had turned into my worst enemy. Shun friendship. Both of you and I...we're more than friends. We're conspirators."
Leo frowned with confusion. Then he and Martin continued watching the bullies continue fighting each other.
As I mentioned before I was disappointed that Harvey Dent wasn't in the show all that much, I felt they could've done more with him, so there's more of him in this, same with Martin. Harvey Dent will also be in the next chapter.
