Chapter Three Hundred and Eighty-Five
Pre-Meeting Halstead Family Time
Halstead Primary Suite – He decided to get changed ahead of climbing into bed with is daughter, whom he was going to feed while having breakfast with Alex. And that was precisely what he was in the midst of doing, as he walked out of his and Alex's closet in his jeans. The jeans that Alex loves seeing him wear, because they just make him look so damn sexy; but that wasn't what Alex could think about at the moment, due to the fact that she instead had to do something else. And that would be to set their food down on their bed, before they both went to get their children; but what Alex didn't know, was that Jay already got both of the kids before getting changed. And it was only when she actually walked into the room, that she even knew that their kids where in there, which she found out the moment she heard her loving husband speak to their daughter, as he put his hand on her cheek and look at her. "Hi princess. You happy that daddy's home from the gym? Happy that he gets to spend a bit of time with you, ahead of working?"
And that made Alex smile the biggest smile in the entire world, simply due to the fact that it's the best sight in the entire world; the sight of her shirtless husband leaning over their daughter while making her laugh as he tickled her (while also kissing her neck). And boy, did that bring out a bunch of joy from their daughter; so much, that she didn't even know that a baby that size could have such a big laugh. But that didn't mean that Alex didn't love of the sound of that laugh, as she most certainly did; simply due to the fact that it was a laugh that was coming out of her body, because of something that her husband was doing. It was something that was coming out of her, because of the way that the man of her dreams was playing with their child and speaking to them. "Yes, my little princess is. And she must've kissed daddy so much while he was gone. But don't worry, he's back now and all safe." Jay then bent down and kissed her cheek, which led him to realize that Alex was here in the room; and that he wasn't alone with Olivia anymore, which was okay.
It was okay, because Jay will never complain that he's getting to spend time with both of the most important women in his life at the same time; as that's precisely what he always wants to do, spend time with the two most important ladies in his life at the same time. "So, how long did you watch me do that?" Alex smiled as Jay asked her that, while carrying their plate of breakfast towards her side table; after which, she set it down as she stared at her shirtless husband. Her shirtless husband who started to torture her, by flexing for her a bit. However, that didn't have the effect that Jay thought it would; as rather than smirking some more, Alex shook her head to show her displeasure at the action. And there was a reason for that, which was frustration; frustration over the fact that she wasn't going to be able to get some more of what she wants, due to the fact that they have a meeting after breakfast. Something that Jay is well aware of, but still decided to flirt with her the way he does. "I swear, you just love to torture me; don't you?" Jay smirked.
After all, that most certainly was something that he loved to do; he loved to torture his wife, due to the fact that it meant that he made her happy in the best way possible. And that would be by giving her the sexual attention and pleasure that she craves, while not having sex with her; not that Jay really minds, as he loves having sex with his wife….almost as much as he loves touching her body in lingerie, which is precisely what he's in the midst of doing once more now that he was standing on front of her. Meanwhile, Alex had her hands on his arms and was smirking, as she looked up into his beautiful eyes and stepped close to him; while at the same time, Jay wrapped his strong arms around her and proceeded to kiss her softly as a way to give her some more of what she wanted from back when they were alone in the kitchen together. And that would be some of his love, not that it could last for long; as they had other things that they had to take care of, breakfasts to eat, and two beautiful children to feed. Which was why Jay already got them.
And no, he didn't just get Olivia compared to what you think based on what's already played out this morning in Jay and Alex's room; but he instead got both of his children, as he wanted to make sure that they were there when Alex came to feed them both. That way, they could do everything all at once. They could get in bed, feed the twins, and enjoy a nice breakfast with each other this morning; ahead of a day where they also have to work. Maybe even from the comfort of their bed, something that he isn't too sure about due to the fact that he believes he may need to have stuff laid out in front of him. "So, listen, I want to talk to you over breakfast." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, while also putting her hands on his muscular chest and kissing him softly. "Might it be this?" Leaning up, Alex kissed Jay again; while at the same time, he placed his hands on her neck and started to take things nice and slow with the woman of his dreams. "God, I want to do that so bad; but no, as we need to do something else." Alex agreed with Jay.
However, that didn't mean that she knew what they needed to do. "And what might that be?" Jay smiled as Alex asked him what they needed to do, before answering her question; that way, he wasn't holding her in suspense longer than needed. "We need to figure out the logistics of how we're going to do our meeting?" Alex as confused as she heard Jay say that, not too sure what he means. "OK. I am not too sure what you mean, as I thought that you were going to talk to me about something else; something that I need to talk to Matt and Gabby about." Jay sighed as he heard Alex say that, well aware of what she was talking about; and that would be a final answer when it came to what part of the company she wants to work for, as they aren't sure whether they like having her work for both parts anymore. Not when it means that she has to split her time in between both CA and Casey Police. So, they've decided that it was time for her to choose, which is something that she's been struggling to do, and wants her husband to help her with.
And that is precisely what Jay plans on doing with Alex as they eat breakfast in bed, while also feeding their children; they're going to talk about what's on Alex's mind when it comes to the decision that she has to make with regards to her future at Casey. "Do you want to talk about it as we have breakfast with each other?" Alex agreed with Jay as he asked her that, as that was exactly what she wanted to do. "Maybe while we're also feeding the kids, and before I cuddle up to that shirtless chest of yours?" Jay shook his head, as that was the last thing that was going to happen; in fact, he was going to put his shirt on ahead of them even getting in bed with each other. "Unfortunately, me keeping my shirt off was not part of my plans for breakfast." Alex looked at Jay as he said that, shocked that he would even say such a thing; especially when she was the one that was asking for it. "Really?" Jay agreed with Alex, before letting her go and making his way over to his shirt; the shirt that he was going to wear now as they ate breakfast, as well as in the meeting.
Grabbing it, he then went to put it over his shoulders so that he could start putting it on; and Alex had to admit, he sure does look good in that shirt that he plans on wearing. "I have to say, that is a nice shirt that you plan on wearing today." Jay agreed with Alex as she told him that she likes the shirt that he plans on wearing for the meeting, while also smirking as he did it up due to the fact that she was in the midst of flirting with him. "OK. Remember what I said, we need to relax ahead of the meeting. My brother is going to be on there, and he may need to leave early; so that means that I need to be on there if he can't be." Alex was confused as she heard Jay say that, unsure of just what he was talking about. "What are you talking about Jay?" Jay sighed, as he knew that he had to tell Alex what he was talking about, which is precisely what he's going to do, once they're in bed with each other, feeding the kids, and having the nice breakfast that she made for them together. "Let's start eating, and we'll talk." Alex agreed with Jay, liking that plan.
They ended up deciding to wait until after they were done eating to talk, due to the fact that it was too difficult; too difficult to concentrate on eating their breakfasts, and making sure that their twins didn't make a mess. Whether that be during their feeding, or while they were playing with their parents' food (something that they've been doing as of late). But now, this were better due to the fact that the twins were now being entertained by something that always kept their attention; and that would be their play pen that they just bought with a bunch of hanging toys, rolling toys, and cozy places to nap. Heck, there are times where the parents get worried due to the fact that their children are being so quiet while they're playing in the little set up that they have; that is, until they realize that their children have just fallen asleep. After which, they pick them up and carry them to their crib so that they can lay down. And Jay and Alex just knew, that was going to be something that was going to happen today, while they have some meetings.
Either that, or they are going to want to yell the entire time, because they aren't getting enough attention from their parents. But right now, they seem to be okay as Jay did the dishes in the kitchen, while Alex got ready for the day. A day that was going to start with them checking their calendars for times where they can take their kids to the doctor, as that was something that they've been meaning to do since they got back from Hawaii; they need to get a permanent pediatrician here, who isn't Natalie due to the fact that they want to keep it a bit more separate for the sake of family. "Do you have anything Tuesday?" Jay sighed. "Lt. Col. Mark Adams' Funeral in Peoria. Funeral Mass at 11, Burial at 1. I'm a pall bearer." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, remembering that now. "Do you want me to come with you?" Jay bit his lip, as that was something that he wasn't sure about. "Heck, I'm not even sure whether I want to go." Alex was confused as she heard Jay say that, as he always goes to funeral masses for his fallen brothers-in-arms.
Why would this be different? "Jay, you okay? You always go to the funerals." Jay sighed as he looked at his wife, before putting his hands down on the counter; an action which got Alex concerned. So much so, that she put her iPad to the side and got up so that she could make her way to the kitchen where her husband was, while also keeping an eye on their children as they played together in the living room. She then proceeded to walk up to Jay in the kitchen, while putting her hand on his arm. "Hey, you okay Jay?" Wrapping his arm around Alex, Jay agreed as he was okay; but that didn't mean that Alex believed him. Something that she showed her husband by putting her hand on his face, before stepping close to him and kissing him softly. "Are you okay?" Looking at their children again, Jay sighed as they were the reason why he wasn't okay, because he was worried about their health and safety during this time. Something that he could be putting at risk, should he decide to go to the funeral. "I'm worried about the risk." Alex was confused.
What risk is her husband talking about? "What risk?" Jay sighed as he moved away from the sink, before cornering Alex here at the counter; he then placed his hands on her hips as they held each other close. "Our kids. I don't want to exposed them to this." Alex then understood what Jay was saying, before nodding as she stepped close to her husband; after which, she leaned her forehead against his. At the same time, he moved his hands to her butt as they both held each other close due to the fact that he has a lot on his mind at the moment; he has the health and safety of his family, his job at the company, and his duty to his friend's family. "I mean, I am so torn. I mean, do I go and take the risk?" Alex sighed as she cuddled up to her husband some more, while also laying her head down on his chest as they held each other close. Meanwhile, Jay turned his head and pressed his lips to her forehead as this truly was something that he appreciated. He loves it when Alex holds him in her arms, as it just makes him feel so much better.
It calms him down and reminds him that he isn't in this alone; but instead, he's doing it with her. "I just hate that I'm even thinking about this Alex." Turning her head, Alex was confused as Jay said that. "What are you talking about Jay?" Jay sighed. "Why am I even considering going to this funeral?" Alex was taken aback as Jay asked her that question, as she thought the question should instead be: "Why aren't I even considering going to this funeral?" I mean, this is one of his friends; doesn't he want to go. "Babe, this is one of your military friends; don't you want to go?" Jay sighed. "It's just a huge risk that I'd be taking, one that involves our children." Alex then understood where he was coming from. This wasn't a hard decision as a friend and a veteran, but it instead was a hard decision as a husband and father. And that was something that she could never fault her husband for, due to the fact that it was something that she loves about him. How he's thinking about their family, even when he has a right to be a bit selfish and go to the funeral.
Something that she plans on telling him. "Jay, you have no idea how much it means to me to know that you're considering us before saying yes." Moving his hand to the side of Alex's face as he continued to hold his beautiful wife close to him, Jay smiled as he leaned in and kissed her softly; after which, he spoke to her about something that she needs to know. "You're my wife, and the love of my life; Michael and Olivia are my children, and the second and third loves of my life. The loves of my life will always come before my friends, as you all mean the world to me; more than any funeral that I can go to. I will choose you, Michael, and Olivia every day of the week before I choose to expose you to this pandemic." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that, well aware that was the case as she stepped close to him and wrapped her arms around him some more; she then proceeded to start kissing the side of his neck as a way to tease Jay, simply due to the fact that it was something that he wanted right now. Hell, he always wants her to kiss him like this.
Yet, at the same time, he also knew that wasn't possible due to the fact that they are in the midst of an important conversation; so much so, that Jay was the one that pulled away from the kiss to make sure that they continued this conversation. But maybe instead of doing it here, they continue it in the living room; where they can be comfortable with each other as they watch their children play. "Want to move this conversation to the living room? We can sit there all comfortable, as we watch the kids play?" Alex agreed with Jay, as that was exactly what she wanted to do. She wanted to go sit with her husband, so that they could watch their beautiful children play; while at the same time, they spoke to each other about this hard decision that they need to make together about whether or not Jay was going to go to the funeral. Whether they would go to the funeral, as Alex was not going to let him go alone. That was out of the question the moment she learned there was a funeral, as she needs to go so that the can support her husband.
If there was one thing that Jay always wanted to do whenever he was sitting on the modular couch that they have in their living room, it was holding his beautiful wife in his lap under the covers. After all, that was very easy when they have this big of a couch as they have it set up in a way where it's basically two big mini beds with a whole bunch of pillows behind them. And even better, he was all warm due to the fact that Alex always wanted the covers on top of them, something that Jay will never deprive his wife of; just as long as she doesn't deprive him of stroking her back as she lays her head down on his chest, on top of his heart like she always does when they're on this couch. This couch that they love to enjoy with each other, even when they're in a fight. "You know, I really like this couch." Alex laughed as she heard Jay say that, well aware that was the case. "Gee, I wonder why." Turning his head, Jay smiled as he looked down at his wife as she cuddled up to him in his lap. "I think it's because my wife is in my arms." Alex smirked, nodding.
However, she also thought that it was for another reason. "And that's the only reason that you like it when we sit like this in the living room?" Jay was confused as he heard Alex say that. "I mean, we're here on the couch, holding each other close as we cuddle up to each other; what else is there to like?" Alex then smirked as she pressed her chest against his more, revealing just what she was talking about; and let's just say that Jay was loving that feeling as he looked down at Alex. "Sorry Ms. Halstead, but aren't you wearing a bra to your meeting today?" Alex smirked, as she didn't plan on wearing a bra to the meeting today, which is something that she knew Jay loved. "Oh, I have a feeling that my husband loves that idea." Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, smirking as he bent down before kissing her softly; while at the same time, he also grabbed the back of her head to ensure that she stayed close to him like he wants her to. He doesn't want Alex to go anywhere, not when he turned her on just like she did right now. And he means turned on.
As does she. "You are the biggest fuckin' tease in the entire world, and I refuse to let you deny it." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, well aware that was the case; yet that didn't mean that she appreciated the fact that he just swore in front of their children. "OK. Can we please calm down with the language which I do not want to our children have as their first words?" Jay agreed with Alex, as that was the last thing that he wanted; for their children to swear when they say their first word. Then, he just knew that he would be in trouble with his wife for a bit; in so much trouble, that he may loose the ability to have sex with her for a while. "My punishment would be a pause on our sex life, wouldn't it?" Alex laughed, as that was not something that she could withstand. "Are you kidding me? I wouldn't be able to do that, not when my husband is such a hunk." Jay smiled as he heard Alex say that, well aware that was the case as he held her close to him right now. "And my wife is a babe." Alex blushed as she heard Jay say that, truly loving her husband.
She can truly say that Jay is the love of her life, simply due to the fact that she wants to be with him all the time; especially since he's not only the man she loves, but someone that she considers to be her best friend. He just knows her so well, that there are times where she doesn't even need to tell him that something's wrong; for him to just know in his heart that something's wrong. And that's truly something special that she doesn't want to ever lose. Jay is the man she wants to have by her side for the rest of her life, and that's something that she's going to make sure that she gets so that she can always be happy in life; something that every woman deserves. Every woman deserves to be happy in life, and that's exactly how Jay makes her feel; he makes her feel happy, just like a husband should when it comes to how he should treat his wife. He should treat her in a way that makes his wife happy, which Jay does expertly in her opinion, which is why she was currently all cuddled up to him as she gave him some time to cuddle up to her.
And while, yes; they do get a chance to do this every night, it always seems like they get disturbed as of late. Whether it be by Max, or the kids; they only get a chance to cuddle up to each other like this during the day. And that was something that she was going to mention to her husband, as she was hoping that she wasn't the only one that's been noticing that fact. But first, she grabbed his hand and intertwined their fingers. "Just curious. Am I the only one that's been noticing that we can only do this, when the kids are awake?" Turning his head, Jay was shocked as he thought that he was the only one that was noticing that. "Oh, thank god, I thought that I was the only one noticing that." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, clearly able to tell that was the case. "Oh, I can see that being the case my handsome husband. Always thinking about how much sex you want to have from me." Jay shook his head, as he wasn't talking about sex. "Hey, I'm not talking about sex Alex." Alex turned her head as Jay said that, deciding to listen to the man she loves.
As she could tell based on the tone of his voice, that he was going to talk to her about something. "I truly mean it when I say that, due to the fact that I love you. I don't want to have sex with you all the time, I just want to be with you and destress. I mean, I love our children; but I also enjoy just spending time with the woman I love more than anything in the entire world." Alex smiled as she heard Jay say that, while also cuddling up to him. And while she did that, she started to think about something that they said that they were going to talk about over breakfast; but never got around to doing. "So, can we talk about something before the meeting? Something we said that we were going to talk about over breakfast?" Jay then remembered that they said that they were going to talk about something, so he turned his head and nodded as he wanted to make sure that he and Alex talked about everything they wanted to talk about with each other. "Of course. Want to start now?" Alex agreed with Jay, as that was exactly what she wanted to do.
She wanted to talk to her husband about her future at the company, including which division she feels like she wants to work for more; or at least feels like she should work for more, as she wants to help their friends. "So, I was thinking that maybe I should resign my post." Jay was surprised as he heard Alex say that, as that wasn't something that he expected to hear. "Wait, what? I thought you loved it at Casey?" Alex agreed with her husband, as she does love it a Casey. "Oh, I do. I just mean with Casey Police." Jay then understood what his wife was telling him. "Oh." Alex agreed with Jay. "I'm just…I'm struggling there." Jay was so confused as he heard Alex say that, why in the world would she be struggling there? How come she hasn't spoken to him about it. "Hey, why is this the first time that I'm hearing about this?" Alex sighed. "Because it's the first time I've felt like I could talk to you about it." Jay just looked at Alex as she said that, as he hated that she felt like she couldn't talk to him about anything whenever she wanted to.
And if there was anything that they needed to talk about for a moment, then it was this. "Alex, I'm your husband. I love you, and it's my job to listen to you when you need to talk to me. So, please; do not ever feel like you can't talk to me." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, while also leaning up and moving to kiss the man she loves more than anything in the entire world. After which, he moved his hand to the side of her face as they took things nice and slow with each other. "Alex, talk to me." Alex agreed, doing just that. "Well, here's the thing. For so long now, I have felt so removed from the police stuff. First, it was just being away from the normal police work; as the FBI is so different than the CPD." Jay agreed, as that most certainly was the truth. "And then, I just feel like I barely understand some of the new technology that they have now; as I am so out of the loop, and I just don't feel comfortable being in the position of talking to people due to my relationship with Hank." Jay sighed, starting to realize where she was coming from.
She was talking about how she might not be a good spokesperson. "And there's something else." Jay agreed, continuing to listen to his wife. "When I did some designing for CA during my pregnancy, to take away from the stress; I felt alive, like something brought out something in me. And when I actually think of stuff I want to do at the company, I see ideas for stuff with CA. Stuff like bringing awareness to the problems that we have on the southside, and raising awareness through clothing if that makes sense." Jay agreed with Alex as she said that, as that most certainly does make sense. "Have you spoken to Gabby about this?" Alex sighed. "I wanted to put it by you first, just to make sure that I wasn't going to far out there." Jay shook his head. "Alex, they love giving back; I hear they want to do that with the masks they're going to sell." Alex agreed. "Gabby already reached out to me to get some design ideas for the masks, and I wouldn't mind helping with those too." Jay smiled as he heard Alex say that, seeing the passion in her eyes.
And the truth was…if Alex felt like she had more passion in her to work with Casey Apparel, then Jay wasn't going to stop that. He was going to do the right thing as her husband and push her to pursue her career goals. "Alex, if that's where you think that you need to be in the company, then go for it." Alex agreed. "Still, I will continue with making the Special Victims course. That's something else that I'm passionate about." Jay smirked as he heard Alex say that, while also leaning in and kissing the woman he loves. "Then how about you grab your phone, and we can call Matt and Gabby? Talk to them about it." Alex agreed with Jay as she sat up, before reaching for her phone so that she can talk to Matt and Gabby about what she wants to do at the company going forward; how she wants to work for Casey Apparel, rather than continue at Casey Police.
