Hi Readers: What did you guys think of the last chapter? Did you guys like the e-mail that we got from Olivia Benson? I hope you know that someday, I do hope to bring this story to a place where maybe we can get a crossover between them more; like I did in a past series, the original Miracles series. (Those who read this story on Wattpad will understand what I mean by that). But I truly do hope that you liked that little visit from her, as I am not sure what my plans are when it comes to adding other Dick Wolf shows into the story. I mean, maybe we can get them in somehow; but I am just not too sure. Let me know what you think and give me some input as to what you want to see when it comes to possible crossover storylines. But right now, back to our current storyline that I have.
Chapter Three Hundred and Eighty-Seven
Hawaii
With the girls having now been fed, and their parents having finished breakfast; the couple were now just enjoying a bit of quiet time. Quiet time where they can read and catch up on some e-mails, including those that they just received from Jay and Alex (as well as NYPD Special Victims Unit Detective Olivia Benson). However, that was not what Gabby wanted to do at the moment; due to the fact that there was something on her mind at the moment. More specifically, it was something that her husband said during the phone call that they just had with Jay and Alex that led to them getting this outline of the course. And that thing was what Matt said in relation to what they're going to do in relation to the people in Hawaii, as she was thinking the worst; that they were going to be firing some people in Hawaii. And that was a big deal, as that was the last thing that Gabby wanted to do; so, it puzzles her as to just why Matt decided not to talk to her about this decision that he made, ahead of making it so that she could have some say in what they do.
But now, that was going to change head of the two of them doing anything that can drastically change their employees' lives in Hawaii. She just hopes that Matt is okay with talking about it, when it seems like he would much rather read this course outline that he has on his iPad. So, she decided to speak to Matt. "Hey, can we talk for a minute?" Turning his attention away from what he was reading this morning, Matt smiled as he turned his head to look at his beautiful wife; after which, he proceeded to give her his standard response to that question. "Baby, we can always talk. You just need to give me a topic." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, while also taking a breath. "Mind putting your iPad to the side?" Matt snickered. "Let me guess, you want to have me concentrate on you while we sit here in the living room; rather than read e-mails, which I can do during our meeting?" Gabby shook her head. "Well, yes. But something else that I wanted to talk to you about, regarding something that you said about Hawaii." Matt agreed with Gabby.
After all, he had a feeling that this would come up at some point ahead of their meetings; because the moment he said it, he could clearly see that his wife was a bit concerned. And that meant that they were going to have to talk about those concerns, so that he could alleviate the stress. "Just curious, does it have anything to do with the fact that we decided against sitting upstairs in bed? Because we can still move up there, if that's what you want to do." Gabby shook her head, as that was not what she wanted to do. Rather, she wanted to stay here and talk to him about what she has on her mind. "No, it's uhm…I just want to talk about that thing about Hawaii. Remember?" Matt agreed with his wife, as he finally put his iPad to the side so that he could give her his undivided attention. After which, Gabby let out a sigh as she hated the fact she was stress about this; especially when she and Matt have an understanding that they can always talk to each other about anything and everything, which they should always do as partners.
But right now, she was just a bit worried; as she didn't want to always contradict him when it came to business decisions, but she felt like it was her job as co-owner of the business to push back on something that he wants to do. After all, he needs either her or his sister to go along with water plan he wants to do if it wants to become a reality; and that's based on the Casey Corporate By-Laws. More specifically, Corporate By-Laws V01A and V01B, which read as follows:
Casey Corporate By-Law V01A aka Ownership Veto: After the results of a vote of the board of directors is announced, any individual who is a part-owner of the corporation (hereto within defined as Mr. Matthew Casey, Ms. Gabriela Casey, and Ms. Christie Casey) may veto a vote by either (a) raise a veto by voting against the two other part-owners, or (b) raise a veto in absentia if the owner is not able to attend a meeting. To resolve said veto, the process laid out in Casey Corporate By-Law V01B shall be followed.
Casey Corporate By-Law V01B aka Veto Override: For a veto to be overridden, the motion must be carried by a simple majority vote by the owners; based on the amount of shares which the parties own in the corporation. For the purposes of this by-law, Mr. Matthew Casey, Ms. Gabriela Casey, and Ms. Christie Casey will all be deemed to be independent shareholders, with the ownership stakes being: Mr. Casey owning 45%, Ms. G. Casey owning 45% and Ms. C. Casey owning 10% respectively. A majority vote is required.
But back to the part where Gabby doesn't want to contradict him and go against him when it comes to business decisions; because as much as Gabby loves her husband, there are times where she believes that he is making the wrong move when it comes to their business. But right now, they are just going to keep talking about this; here, in the living room. "Baby, I don't want to be against you in a vote; because I am worried when it comes to our marriage." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, as that was something that he was worried about too. Voting against her in the boardroom, just for it to bite him in the butt when it comes to them in the bedroom; I mean, he does still want sex at times. "I know what you mean. I mean, I do love to enjoy you whenever I can." Gabby laughed as she heard Matt say that, before deciding to get up as she didn't want to sit down next to him anymore; she instead wanted to sit in his lap as she got nice and comfortable with him. "I'm coming to sit with you." Matt agreed, smiling at his girl.
After all, that was exactly what he wanted right now. He wants his beautiful wife to sit with him, as they cuddle up to each other here on the couch in a very comfortable manner. And even better, she had her arm around him as she turned her head and looked at into his eyes. Leaning in, Gabby smirked as she started to take things nice and slow with the man she loves more than anything in the entire world. "I love you." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, smiling as he watched as she turned to sit in between his legs; slipping hers in between his, Gabby smiled as she leaned back against his chest and then went to grab her iPad too. Meanwhile, Matt wrapped his arm around Gabby and tugged the covers up on top of the both of them (which is precisely what she wanted to do right now). And now that they were holding each other close, Gabby just snuggled up to her man as she held his hand with their fingers intertwined; something that they always do whenever they can. "So, you have something on your mind?" Gabby sighed.
Something that led to Matt turning his head and kissing her forehead softly, as he wanted to make sure that Gabby knew that he loves her and will always be here to talk to each other. "OK. So, what's going on?" Gabby sighed as she turned her head and looked up at Matt. "I'm thinking about Rules V01A and V01B." Turning his head, Matt looked down at his wife due to the fact that he hated that she was thinking about this; after which, he pressed his lips to her forehead as a way to get her to calm down. "Baby, are you worried about what I'm going to do when it comes to voting and our marriage?" Gabby sighed as she looked up at the man she loves some more. "Babe, I think we both know that we can always get through whatever life throws at us. I mean, look at all we've had to deal with when it comes to our children." Gabby agreed with Matt as she said that, as that most certainly was the truth; he then proceeded to put his hand on the side of her face. Stroking her cheek with his thumb, he smiled as he bent down and kissed his beautiful wife.
After which, Gabby decided to roll over a bit as she wanted to cuddle up to her man some more, which is something that Matt was never going to stop her from doing but will instead let her do each and every day. So, he just wrapped his arm around her back as he held the woman he loves close to him. But now, he needs to talk to her about what she's worrying about. "Baby, I know you're worried when it comes to the veto stuff. And the truth is, we both know what we said. When it comes to business, we are always going to do what's best for the business. And if you want to veto something, then we can talk about it in private. We can just talk to each other here in the office, without anybody else listening to us. Or, we can go into a call with my sister for a minute." Gabby agreed with Matt, as she knew that was something that they could do. "I'm just worried about voting against you when we want to show a united front. What if it comes out that we're…" Matt looked down at his wife as she said that. "Babe, you have no need to worry." Gabby agreed.
She then laid her head down on his chest, just cuddling up to her man. "How many votes do you think we're going to be dealing with today?" Matt shrugged, as he wasn't sure due to the fact that they can always have votes come up whenever they come to a decision that they need to make. "Babe, I have no ideas how many decisions that we need to make. But I do have an idea for what we can do." Gabby looked up at Matt as he said that. "And what would that be?" Matt smirked. "I already know that I am going to propose that we do all of our meetings online, so I need to pass a rule for that due to the fact that our meeting location is the headquarters. We need to set it up where that turns into online." Gabby agreed with Matt, as that made sense. "Maybe we should leave it in place, due to the fact that we may be working from home for meetings." Matt nodded, as that was a smart idea. "By the way, we need to approve the new budget today. Do you want to look over it?" Gabby agreed. "Can we do it in the office? I need a big screen." Matt agreed.
Casey Home Office – Setting up their children here in the office, Matt, and Gabby both smiled at each other due to the fact that they wanted to spend time with them even while they're working. But that didn't mean that Camila thought that it was a good idea, something that she stated as she made her way over to the door to their office. "Are you guys sure that you guys want to have the kids in there?" Turning their heads, Gabby, and Matt both smiled at Camila. "It's okay mom, we can keep them in here. But right now, I want to just relax and go over some things that we need to talk about." Camila then looked at Matt. "Yes, we can keep the kids here." Camila agreed with her son-in-law as he said that, well aware that was the case. "OK. Just let me know if you want me to do anything for you guys." Matt and Gabby both agreed with Camila as she said that, as that was something that they most certainly will do. "I promise mom, we'll do that if we need anything." Camila nodded, before walking away to let them be this morning.
After which, Gabby turned her head and smiled at her handsome husband as he sat there at his desk. "I have to say, that desk really does suit you when it comes to you being the Chairman and CEO." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, while also plugging his laptop into his external monitors that he uses while he types. "So, we've deciding that we're going to have individual computers?" Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, as that was exactly what she wanted. "Yes, because I want to make sure that we can relax as we do this." Matt nodded, well aware that was something that he needed to do. After which, he turned his attention to his laptop and went to plug it in so that he can ensure that he was all set up. Yet at the same time, he also needed to make sure that something else was set up. And that would be his external webcam (as he doesn't keep his laptop open when he sits in his office). Instead, he uses his double monitors; and his laptop becomes more like a big desktop computer due to the fact that it's that big. He has that big of a screen.
Yet at the same time, he also has a laptop, which means that he can work in bed too. And that's something that he loves to do if he needs to do so, because he just loves to cuddle up to his family as he relaxes and take it easy in bed with his family. But right now, he doesn't need to concentrate on his family; but he instead needs to worry about the meeting that they were going to deal with right now. "So, what are we doing when it comes to the whole Christie thing? Do you want to talk to her ahead of the meeting, or would you rather we just have it happen during the meeting?" Matt thought about it, before agreeing with his wife as that's precisely what he wants to do. He wants to talk to his sister and see what she's going to do. "You want to join me on the call, or do you trust me to deal with my sister by myself?" Turning to look at her husband, Gabby laughed as he should already know the answer to that question. "Baby, of course I trust you to deal with your sister on your own." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, smiling at her.
After which, he proceeded to grab his AirPods and put them in his ear. He then went ahead and opened his phone so that he could call his sister ahead of the meeting that they were going to have. "Oh babe, do you want me to send an e-mail to the rest of the company saying that we're starting early?" Matt sighed, as he wasn't sure what he wanted to do yet. "I'm not sure to tell you the truth. But I think that I am just going to talk to the people here in Chicago, and then send an e-mail to Rafael and David so that they can fill in the rest of the teams in Los Angeles and Hawaii. I mean, Rafael and Jane are on the board; but they are only two votes. If we need to have them vote, then we can send an e-mail and ask them what they think." At least, that was the plan until Gabby saw something on her screen. And that would be an e-mail from Jane. An e-mail that was sent quite early in the morning, which was confusing due to the fact that they live in Hawaii and there is a real time difference between the two cities. But still, she decided to read it.

Hi Gabby:
I know that we have a meeting today. And I wanted to let you know that me and Rafael are more than ready to be on the meeting with you. We just can't sleep for some reason, so we said that we might as well stay up and be there for the board meeting today. If you want us to be there, and if you want to call the meeting early; then you most certainly do that, and we will answer the call.
Talk soon.

Reading the e-mail that she just got from Jane, Gabby sighed before going to speak to Matt. "So, I just got some news regarding Jane and Rafael." Turning his head, Matt looked at his wife; especially after hearing the tone of voice she was using. The tone of voice that was now the best, due to the fact that it sounded sad. "Hey, what's wrong?" Gabby sighed once more. "Turns out that Matteo Solano is not feeling the best, and that means that the Solanos are awake at the moment. They said that they are ready to be on the meeting if we want to start early." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, before going to grab his phone. He then proceeded to send Rafael a text. 'Hey Rafael. If you and Jane need to concentrate on Matteo, please don't feel like you need to work. I mean that.' Looking at her husband, Gabby laughed. "Let me guess, you just sent a text to Rafael saying that he doesn't need to be at the meeting if they don't feel like they can." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, as that was exactly what he just did. He just sent that exact text.
"You know me so well."
Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, well aware that was the case; she then proceeded to go look at the e-mail, so that she can reply. "I am still going to reply to Jane if that's okay." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, as that was something that she most certainly can do. "Gabby, she's part of Casey Creations; the subsidiary that you're in charge of. You have no need to explain what you do with your employees babe." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, glad that she can do that; so, she decided to do just that.

Hi Jane:
As a mother, I completely understand the situation that you find yourself in. Where you both want to do the work you've been hired to do, and the role that you have as a mother to your adorable little boy Matteo. So, please do not think that I am going to make you work if he isn't feeling good; because I would rather you concentrate on making him feel better than work. Good luck.
Stay safe and talk soon.

Sending the e-mail giving Jane the permission that she feels like she needs to miss the meeting, Gabby smiled due to the fact that she hopes that she gets the e-mail before joining the call; then again, that was also why she sent the e-mail to her husband. There was just something in her heart that told her that he was going to be glued to his phone, which meant that he was going to see the e-mail even if Jane didn't. And that was precisely what she wanted, as she would rather Jane concentrate all of her energy on Matteo and making him feel better; rather than have her take time away from caring for him, when she needs to be there for her son. "Just to let you know, I already sent the message to Rafael as well. So, I'm going to be surprised if we see Jane in the meeting." Matt agreed with Gabby. "Yeah, that makes sense. By the way, remind me to do something before we begin the meeting." Gabby was confused. "And what would that be?" Matt smirked. "We need to introduce Cruz as a member of the board." Gabby then realized that, smiling.
She then thought of something, which would be whether they want to call Cruz. "Do you want to call him?" Matt bit his lip, unsure as to whether he wants to call him yet; but he decided that was precisely what he wanted to do as he wanted to make sure that he was able to get on without any problems. "I need to make sure that he can get onto the meeting quite easily." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, while Matt went ahead and grabbed his phone. He then proceeded to open it, so that he can find Cruz's phone number in his phone. Because yes, as long as he's known Cruz; he still doesn't know his number. But still, that doesn't mean that he's not going to call her; which is precisely what he just did (through his AirPods). He then smiled as he looked at Gabby. "Want to join the call?" Gabby shook her head, before taking out her electronic sketching pad. "I need to do something else actually." Matt was confused as he heard Gabby say that. "And what would that be?" Gabby smiled. "Need to review designs." Matt was confused.
That was, until he remembered what she was doing; she was taking out the drawing pad that she bought. "Right, you have that electronic drawing pad." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, while putting it on the desk. She then went to start drawing, while Matt waited for Cruz to answer the call; which he did right away. "Hey, Casey. What's up?" Matt laughed. "This a bad time?" Cruz laughed. "No, just out for a run ahead of a busy day." Matt agreed with Curz as he said that. "Well, I was hoping to talk to you a bit about the technology that you need to use for the meeting. Whether you have any questions when it comes to how you need to use it." Cruz agreed with Matt, as that was something that he could easily do. "I promise Matt, I already got it under control. I made sure to set it up yesterday ahead of our meeting today. And if anything, I can always ask Chloe. She's pretty good with technology." Matt agreed with Curz as he said that. "By the way, I am so glad that you and Gabby are going to be in the wedding." Matt agreed.
He then took a breath. "However, we may limit it to the wedding. Not sure what we're going to do when it comes to the reception." Matt then turned his head to look at Gabby, seeing whether that was how she felt; and the truth was, that was precisely how she felt. "Yes, that's something that we need to talk about too." Matt nodded, as he returned to the call that he was having with Cruz at the moment. "OK. Well, whatever you guys need is something that we can figure out. We're already cutting it down, so you can be sure that we're going to be okay." Matt agreed with Cruz as he said that, glad that was the case. "OK. Listen, I need to get to work so that this doesn't take all day. Unlike you, I have kids and I would like to spend some time with them at some point today." Cruz agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. I mean, what father doesn't want time with their children? Well, Matt most certainly does want to spend time with their children at some point. "Listen, how about we just get to work soon?" Matt agreed.
After all, that was something that they wanted to do. "Talk to you soon Cruz." Cruz agreed with Matt, while also hanging up so that he can get ready for the meeting. After which, Matt set his phone down and let out a sigh due to the fact that this is going to be a bit complicated., "Yeah, this is going to get quite complicated. A lot of work." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "But we can do it, because we're all going to be happy." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, just smiling due to the fact that they are both extremely happy as they prepared to get to work today; a day that was going to be quite busy here in the office. "Just promise me that we don't take too long. I don't want to be in here all day when we have the kids." Matt agreed with Gabby, as that wasn't something that she needed to worry about. Rather, he wanted to spend time with his children as well. "I swear, those kids are just growing too fast in front of my eyes." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case too.
She knew that the kids were growing pretty fast, and the last thing she wants is to miss any milestones. "And that brings up something. I think that I could be okay with us working from home for a while, at least until after all the milestones." Matt agreed with Gabby, as that was something that he wanted as well. He wanted to wait until at least they are done with the milestones until they send them to daycare, if they're even open when they can send them to daycare. "No nannies though." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, as that was precisely what she was thinking. She was thinking that she didn't want nannies. "No, that's what we have grandmothers for." Matt nodded, smiling as they really do have the best mothers. "Sorry it didn't work out with your parents again." Gabby shook her head, as she was fine with that. "Honestly, I could care less." Matt agreed with his wife, not wanting to argue with her when it came to that; he just wanted to keep the peace, and not have anything happen that can easily cause for a big explosion to happen at home.
The only types of explosions that Matt wants to deal with, is diaper explosions. But right now, they need to concentrate on something else; they need to concentrate on work and just getting their company back on track, which is precisely what they're in the midst of doing right now. They're getting the company back on track, while also welcoming some new people onto the board due to the fact that Severide left the company; and then, he was replaced by Cruz. And the truth was, he was glad that he got to work with Cruz again; due to the fact that it was always fun talking to him. He was the best mix of himself and Otis, which is something that he misses. He misses his former truck-mate, hating that he died in the fire; and the effect that it's had on Cruz. He can still hear it in his voice at times, due to the fact that he can still hear it in his own voice at times; because he's heard it in his own voice whenever he talks about Andy, due to the fact that he still misses his best friend each and every day. Something that he was thinking about right now.
Well, not just how he misses him; but the fact that he never got a chance to say goodbye to Heather and the boys, who also miss him. But unfortunately, that wasn't something that she noticed until she turned her head to look at Matt after a couple moments of silence, Gabby could just tell that there was something going on in his head. "Hey, you okay baby?" Coming back to, Matt looked at Gabby as she asked him that question. "Yeah, I'm good." Gabby just looked at her husband as he said that, as she could just tell that he wasn't. "You sure?" Matt bit his lip. "We can talk later, okay? In bed." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Then let's just get this meeting going. Then, we can concentrate on you." Matt smiled, nodding as that was exactly what he wants to do. He wants to talk to his wife about what's on his mind. But right now, he needs to concentrate on the meeting that he has.
Note to Readers: I am not sure what to do when it comes to what I want to write during the meeting. Therefore, I am going to skip to after the meeting. I hope that's okay with you guys. Now, what do you say we get back to the story…after the meeting?
