Dante and Trish made their way deeper and deeper into the tunnels, until they came across a very large chamber with a single demon sitting in a large makeshift rock throne that must have been Sloth. Sloth was a large fat green bug-like demon with four legs, two arms, a fat tail, and yellow eyes. His belly was covered in red sores and spikes, and he held a staff in his righthand. Sloth lazily looked at Dante and Trish and spoke.
"Looks like I have guests. I hate guests they're such a hassle to deal with."
"So I take it you're Sloth." Said Dante.
"He certainly looks fat enough to fit the name." Said Trish.
There was a crumbling sound as a half dozen bug demons emerged from the ground nearby. The demons walked over to Sloth and his throne and lifted the throne and Sloth up before carrying the two towards Dante and Trish and stopped a few yards from the two.
"Well he's certainly living up to his name." Said Dante.
"I smell the scent of Sparda and the scent of a powerful demon. I take it you're the two that took Teddy down." Said Sloth.
"Sparda was my old man. We're here to take you and the rest of the Seven down. We already took Envy down and you're next bug boy." Said Dante.
"Really don't care about Envy or any of my siblings. It takes too much effort to care." Said Sloth.
"So do you choose to surrender and save us some trouble or are you going to fight us?" Asked Trish.
"There's always a choice, darling... I choose not to choose. Too much of a bother. I'd laugh at you, but it's too much effort. Don't take offense, you're playing your part well in our wee morality play... but really, why bother? So why don't the two of you leave?" Said Sloth with a lazy wave of his staff.
"Yeah we're not leaving. Looks like you're going to actually going to have to fight us." Said Dante as he and Trish pulled out their swords and rushed Sloth and his throne.
Sloth fired a beam of green energy at the two hunters forcing them to dodge out of the way to avoid getting hit. They reached the throne and attacked a few of the demons holding it and killed them. More demons appeared and quickly rushed in to support the the throne.
"You deal with Sloth. I'll deal with the help." Said Trish as she focused on the bug demons.
Dante deflected a staff swing from Sloth and went about killing the demons holding the throne up. After the last few demons were killed the throne crashed to the ground cracking a little bit. This greatly enraged Sloth, who pulled himself out of the throne to fight Dante seriously.
"My beautiful throne! I'm going to kill you and use your spine as a backscratcher!" Bellowed Sloth as he charged at Dante swinging his staff.
"Looks like someone is planning on putting some effort into this fight." Said Dante as he jumped back from Sloth's swing.
Dante pulled out his guns and fired multiple shots at Sloth's belly striking the sores and making them gush and bleed. Sloth roared in anger and pain as he stumbled back and then he fired a ball of green energy from his staff. Dante hit the ball of green energy back at Sloth, who hit it back with his staff, only to have Dante hit it back with his sword, and Sloth to hit it back with his staff. The two of them went back and forth for a minute or two, until Sloth began to tire out and the blast finally struck him making him collapse onto his rear breathing hard.
"Looks like I won that little tennis match. Now time to get a little up close and personal." Said Dante as he rushed at Sloth.
Sloth swung his staff at Dante, but he leaped over it and delivered a downwards slice to the big demon before he went to town and began to deliver slice after slice to Sloth. After a few dozen slices Sloth let out one big scream.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"
Sloth then collapsed to the ground and died. All the bug demons also collapsed to the ground dead and then they vanished. Dante pulled out the amulet and it sucked Sloth's body and essence into it.
"Two down five to go." Said Dante.
Dante and Trish headed back to the tunnel and made their way back to the surface to continue the hunt.
To be continued.
