Both of them were considered seniors in the palace. They were the ones who watched how the atmosphere in the court changed step by step to its current tension-filled days.

The Princess had just arrived here, so it was natural for her not to know how nasty His Majesty's temper could get. They were her servants, which was why they must be vigilant.

Lin Feilu hissed, "That scary?"

Tingchun and Shixia hurriedly nodded, not daring to raise their voices, "Princess, let us return first. It is getting late, so us humble servants will accompany you for a stroll tomorrow."

Lin Feilu bent her eyes into crescent moons and smiled, "No, I'm going to the Lin An Palace."

Tingchun and Shixia's faces turned pale. Though they pleaded repeatedly, Lin Feilu comforted them as they walked, "Don't worry, His Majesty treats me very well; nothing will happen."

How could the two servants believe her words?

No matter how His Majesty treated her, those acts were done within the rules! If she were to break the rules, His Majesty would be ruthless in his executions!

But no matter what they said, the stubborn princess didn't want to listen to their persuasion, walking all the way to the stairs in front of the Lin An Palace. Tingchun and Shixia's faces were already pale as they ultimately accepted their fate.

Lin Feilu also said with special concern for them, "If you are afraid, you can just wait here."

They were granted to serve her at the Yong An Palace, meaning they were now the Princess's aides. How could they abandon their master due to greed for their lives and fear of their deaths at such a crucial time? The two looked at each other before tremblingly following her up the steps towards the gate of the palace.

The Lin An Palace was grand and full of charisma, with two guards standing at the door and a eunuch waiting inside to relay information regarding any visitors. Tingchun bravely stepped forward, "Eunuch Hong, our Princess is asking to see His Majesty, so please pass it on."

When Eunuch Hong heard this, he hurriedly came out with a smile, "This humble servant greets Your Highness. Princess, you are here at last. His Majesty had given his orders quite a while ago, hurry and come in."

Tingchun and Shixia were stunned as Lin Feilu already walked in through the palace gate.

Behind the gates of the palace was a high and wide corridor, and there were guards standing on both sides of the corridor every couple of steps. Even when she was walking past them, they did not deter their attention from their duties. Passing through the promenade, she saw a very humongous divider that was made from jade. The entire slab was hollowed out and carved intricately, making it look beautiful and gorgeous.

Bypassing the jade divider was the main hall.

Stepping into the main hall, Tingchun and Shixia, who followed behind the Princess with their heads bowed and body trembling, heard Lin Feilu happily announce, "I'm here."

The two were in a state of confusion as they boldly raised their eyes and looked forward.

They saw the Princess holding the hem of her skirt as she started running towards His Majesty, who was sitting on the soft couch reviewing his documents.

The Emperor still had a pen in his hand, but as he hugged her with one arm, he placed the pen on the edge of the inkstone. Then, he embraced her in his arms with a smile.

Under the watchful eyes of everyone else, Lin Feilu was still a little embarrassed, so she broke away from his arms after hugging him.

Song Jinglan pulled Lin Feilu to the side and sat her down before he picked up the pen and continued to approve the unfinished memorials(2). He heard her ask, "How did you know I'm coming?"

(T/N: Here, memorials are official communication scripts written by government officials to the Emperor)

He was still writing, so without looking up, he merely smiled and said, "I just guessed."

Seeing that he was still busy, Lin Feilu didn't bother him any longer. Sitting on the soft couch, she looked left and right curiously, and when she turned her head, she saw a handsome little guard standing beside him. She froze for a moment before exclaiming in surprise, "Tiandong?!"

Tiandong's face was flushed, unable to contain his excitement, "Fifth Princess!"

She was very happy to see an acquaintance again and walked over to look at him from a closer perspective, "Tiandong, you have grown taller, I almost didn't recognise you."

Tiandong was shy but happy, "I haven't seen you for many years, but the Princess has grown a lot taller as well."

The two chatted for a while before Lin Feilu suddenly thought of something. She glanced at him in horror, "Tiandong, did you perhaps…"

Seeing her eyes sweeping over a lower region, Tiandong's face suddenly turned red as he shook his head repeatedly. He was then unable to speak smoothly, "This subordinate…No! This subordinate is His Majesty's personal guard!"

(T/N: Lin Feilu teased that Tiandong became a eunuch, so that meant he would have to castrate himself in order to do so)

Next to him, Song Jinglan finished approving the memorials and placed down the pen. He smiled and stretched out his hand to pull her back, "Alright, don't tease him too much."

Lin Feilu glanced at the desk, "Are you done now?"

He pressed the space between his eyebrows, "I've piled up too many papers, so I'm afraid I'll have to attend to the matters till night time. Are you hungry? I'll ask someone to pass on your meal first."

Lin Feilu shook her head, "I'm not hungry, I'll just wait for you so we can eat together," She raised her hand to touch her bun, asking with a smile, "Does it look good?"

He had already noticed her new hairstyle today and nodded with a smile, "It looks good."

She pointed to Tingchun, who was waiting below, "It was Tingchun who combed it for me."

Song Jinglan glanced down along her fingers and said with a gentle smile, "Grant her a reward."

Tingchun shuddered and immediately knelt down to receive the reward, "Thank you, Your Majesty, for the reward."

She and Shixia were greatly shocked and frightened today. In fact, they still haven't recovered from the shock up until now. Hence, getting rewarded all of a sudden further complicated their emotions. Still kneeling, they heard Princess Yong An say, "It is so majestic and beautiful here."

They heard His Majesty laugh softly, "Do you like this place? If so, let's live here from now on."

While the two were shocked, a tacit thought popped up in their hearts at the same time— from now on, life in the palace might change.

As the main palace where the Emperor lived and governed, the Lin An Palace was twice as large as the Yong An Palace, and it was also more magnificent. Lin Feilu took advantage of Song Jinglan's review of the memorial and asked Tiandong to take her for a tour of it inside and out. She even jumped on the dragon bed(3) and rolled around on it, scaring her two maidservants' out of their minds.
