Chapter 1: Hitting the Town part 1

"Oh." Moaned the mafia thug. "That fall really hurt, Mafia. At least Mafia is... UCK" Said the mafia thug as they suddenly fell to the ground.

Seconds after, the girl from her ship lands on the ground with grace... 'CRASH!' [Or not]

"Fuck that hurts!" Exclaimed the girl as she got up from the ground checking for splinters and cuts from landing on the crate. After finding no wounds she turns to see the mafia thug that completely ruined her day... with her knife in his skull. "Ah, so that's where you went." She then pulled her knife out of the mafia thug's skull and cleaned it by using the mafia's clothes. "So, I'm guessing this is Mafia Town." She then walks forward exploring her surroundings as she comes across a small black bird. The bird notices her and stares at her.

'Who the hell is this chick?' Thought the bird as it examined her.

"What strange fauna this planet has." She said examining it.

'What did she call me!' They thought as they began squawking at her.

"And it's pissed." Said the girl as she decides to go around it. As she does this the bird pecks her leg. "Ow! You stupid bird I didn't do anything to you!" The bird keeps pecking at her as she steps out of its range of attack. "Keep it up poultry and I'll make you into fried chicken." She said as she held her knife menacingly with a glimmer of red flashing in her eye.

'...Now I don't normally back down from a fight, but, that look she's giving me is disturbing.' Thought the bird as it backed away. As the bird gets away from her a shadow suddenly appears over the bird and looks up to see a flying mafia thug land right on top of it.

"The hell?" Said the girl as she hears a fight going on behind her. She slowly approaches the ruckus and sees a girl her age standing over some unconscious mafia thugs. Her eyes are yellow as she wears a red dress tied by a purple belt, a red cloak tied to her body, and green shoes. Her blonde hair shimmered in the sun as the light glew on her green hair ties, gold star medallion, and... wait is that mustache?

As she stares at the mustache girl she notices her and runs away. "No wait!" She shouts as the mustache girl runs away. "Dammit."

"You seem to be lost, miss?" Said a distorted voice. The girl looks up to see a green-eyed person with a mask covering their face and a purple scarf covering their shadowy heady partially, a large red cloak or shirt, purple shorts, and brown boots. They had a rather large backpack on their back and held a wooden staff using it as balance.

"I'll get around." She said as she examined the twitching individual in front of them as small black shapes flew around the individual. "Are you alright?" The person chuckles at her question as if it was a joke.

"I'm quite fine, dear, my body has been in places that have left a permanent mark." They said as they extended a hand toward her. "But if you're looking for a name I go by Badge Seller or if you want something formal Sel will do just fine."

"Nice to meet you Sel." She said as she grabbed Sel's hand and was pulled up.

As this happened she suddenly got flashbacks to her home. 'No, not now.' She thought as she tried to shake the thoughts out of her head to no avail. She then saw a memory of her father grabbing her hand and picking her off the ground as she cried. Her father then picked her up and twirled her in the air making her laugh. Not shortly after though the area around her was shifting back and forth from a pleasant memory to a blood and gory battlefield with bodies lying in puddles of dirty water and blood. Her gaze then turned back to her father who was missing the lower half of their jaw and the left side of their face burnt away leaving the flesh exposed.

"Miss?" Questioned Sel getting her attention.

"Sorry, I just have a bit of a headache." She said rubbing her head. "Had a bit of spill earlier."

"If you call falling out of the sky a spill, then I'll take your word for it deary." They said not buying what she said. "Now, as I asked you before, what is your name?"

"...Amelia." She answered while still rubbing her head.

"Amelia, that's a very pretty name." Said Sel. Sel then noticed the knife she had in her hand. The knife's silver tip was covered in blood indicating she had killed someone recently as tiny blots of red were on the black handle that had a purple gem was incrested in the handle from top to bottom. "That's a rather unique knife you have there."

"It belonged to my mother before she passed away." Said Amelia as she looked at the knife. "She said there are unique powers built inside of it that's from our... my home."

"I apologize, Amelia, I didn't mean to bring back painful memories." Said Sel as they dug into their pockets. They pull out a badge that has an umbrella with a propeller.

"Oh no, I couldn't... I insist." Rebuttled Amelia as Sel interrupted her and placed the badge in her hands. "Consider a gift from one wander to another."

Amelia stares at the badge in her hand. "Uh, thanks Sel, but I don't have..." She said as she looked up and saw that Sel disappeared. "...An umbrella." Amelia stood there awkwardly until she heard a loud pop. She then looked up and saw a falling raccoon descending onto her. "Ow, what the hell buddy!?"

"Huh, oh sorry, you must have been right under me." Said the raccoon as they yawned. "If anyone walks under me or my kind we wake up from the shock of hearing the sound under us." They then went back to sleep and ascended into the air as Amelia got off the ground and away from the flying raccoon. As she does she then hears another pop and dodges out of the way of the falling raccoon.

"... You're doing this on purpose aren't you?" Asked Amelia with a glare.

"I, 'yawn' don't know what you mean." Said the raccoon with a tiny small grin. Their eyes then turn to the knife in Amelia's hand. "...What do you plan on doing with that?"

Currently away from Amelia...

"Oh, how I love a cup of tea in the morning." Said an old man sitting in a chair.

"Old man sitting in chair!" Shouted a Mafia thug with another walking beside them. "Your rent for Mafia is due."

"B, but, I paid you already!" Exclaimed the old man as he shook in fear.

"Mafia don't care, Mafia... AAAAAAHHHH!" Said the Mafia thug as a blood-curdling scream echoed through the air. "...Does Mafia know who is working over there?" They asked their Mafia companion.

"Mafia has no clue on what Mafia is doing over there." Said the second Mafia thug. "Maybe it was Goofy Mafia being scared again."

"But they only work at night, how could... Hey!" Shouted the first Mafia thug as they saw the old man trying to run away as they discussed the scream. "Mafia didn't say you could leave! Now Mafia has to use violence to get rent!"

"No please!" Shouted the old man.

Back with Amelia...

Amelia stood over the freshly stabbed corpse of the raccoon as they breathed heavily with a blood droplet dripping off her face as blood on her stomach dripped into her skirt. "Whos laughing now you furry bastard!" She exclaimed as she sat down on the ground. She then noticed her attire was now covered in blood from head to toe. "Dammit, this is going to make me look suspicious as hell. 'Sigh' Too bad I can't magically absorb the blood stain away." She then laid on the ground thinking about what to do as the knife's gem glew. She then felt the blood that was on her stomach and face move downwards. She then saw the blood enter her clothes fusing into the blood stains as they shrunk away. In just seconds all traces of blood had disappeared. She then sat up and stared at her knife. "Did you hear me?" She didn't have enough time to reflect on that thought as she heard a scream.

Amelia then ran to the source of the scream and saw two Mafia thugs beating up an old man. "Hey, what the hell do you think you're doing!?" She shouted at the two.

"Old man owes us rent." Said the first Mafia Thug.

"Yes, don't dabble in Mafia affairs if you want don't want to get hurt, little girl." Said the second Mafia thug.

"No, I don't think I will." Said Amelia brandishing her knife. "One of your lovely friends has already caused me some trouble by damaging my ship, causing my property to fly out everywhere to god knows where, and finally, you people keep calling me a child." She then threw her knife at the second Mafia goon barely missing him as it stuck itself into a wall. "I'm not a child." She said as she flicked her wrist as the knife came flying back and cutting the second Mafia thug's jugular causing blood to fly out of his throat.

"Mafia!" Shouted the first Mafia thug as they went to their fallen comrade. "Speak to me Mafia!"

"Mafia... it's so cold..." Said the Second Mafia thug as they closed their eyes and died in the first Mafia thug's arms.

"You'll pay for taking Mafia's life." He shouted at Amelia.

"Oh really?" She asked with a taunting grin with her knife near her face. Her eyes then glowed red as she stared into the Mafia thug's eyes.

'W, what is she!?' Thought the Mafia thug as he backed away in fear. He then saw his world crumbling before his eyes as darkness and Amelia was only left. As he kept backing away red vines grabbed him by the wrists and legs. He tried to struggle out of their grip to no avail.

"I really, really, hate people like you." Said Amelia as she got closer to the Mafia thug. "It's because of people like you that I lost everything." The area around the two got colder as she was standing in front of him. "They took my family, my friends, my home, EVERYTHING!" She screamed as her voice changed to demonic near the end. "The only thing I have left is this knife, mine and mother's hat, my father's ship, and the things we protected so dear to us. An object so powerful we could topple anyone if chose to." She then let her knife float in the air aiming it at the Mafia thug. "But, we didn't because we were a peaceful people. Well, guess what." Amelia then extend her hand at the Mafia thug as the knife was shaking violently. As this was happening the Mafia thug saw a tall woman-like figure made out of red shadow behind Amelia. It then looked at the Mafia thug and gave a demonic grin. "I'm all of out of mercy." Said Amelia as she pointed her index finger at the Mafia thug as the knife flew towards him.

The Mafia thug closed his eyes waiting for the killing blow, but, instead heard the ground break behind him. He turned to see that he was back in town as the knife had made a crater in the ground right behind him. He then turned back to Amelia who was right up in his face.

"Go tell your boss or whoever you work for that if I see you harm another citizen of this place that I will personally come for him." Said Amelia as she picked the man up by the collar of his shirt and pushed him behind her. He then ran away in fear leaving his dead comrade behind. Amelia then took a deep breath and turned to the old man sitting on the ground bruised and beaten. "Are you alright sir?"

"I, I'll be honest miss, I could be better." He said as he got off the ground with Amelia's help. "Though suppose I could have had worse fates." He said looking at the dead Mafia thug.

"Yeah, sorry, if I scared you, sir. I just can't stand people like them." Said Amelia with a shy grin as she rubbed her neck.

"I could tell by just seeing you give that man that awful long death stare." He said as he took a seat in his chair. "I didn't even see you throw your knife at the man until I heard the crash is made.

'So he didn't hear a thing I said to that bastard?' She thought expecting a different outcome. "So, what's with this place? Why are these Mafia goons here?"

"To be honest, we don't know." He said with a hand extended to his chin. "They just came one day and took over Calcite one day."

"Calcite?" Asked Amelia tilting her head in confusion.

"Calcite, the city of adventure and destiny. A starting point for all explorers and dreamers." He said as waved his hand in the air. "At least that's what it was originally called, I added the destiny bit to be more dramatic." He said with a chuckle as Amelia gave a half chuckle with a sweat drop going down her head. "Oh, how rude of me! I forgot to introduce myself." He then stood up from his seat as Amelia went to tell him to not move but waved her off. "My name is Barry Workman, of Workman Industries." He said as he bowed and sat back down in his chair with a grunt of pain.

"I'm Amelia... I don't know my last name due to my parents dying at an early age." She said with a smile as she sat down in a chair.

"My condolences miss, I and my brothers have lost our parents at an early age as well." Said Barry with a sigh. "Larry and Terry are the only family I have left.

"I see." She said ignoring the rhyming names. "Where are your brothers now?

"Oh there here, though I haven't heard from the recently." He said with a look of worry. His eyes then gave a shine as he looked at Amelia. "I know you have already helped me by taking care of those men, but, could you do me a favor and check on them?"

"Honestly sir, I've got to get going and find my lost property before it gets in the wrong hands." She said as she stood out of the chair. She then heard something be dropped onto the table and looked back to see a bag with green orbs with stars in them.

"It would help if I paid you?" Asked Barry.

"Sir, you don't have to do that." She said as she waved her hands rapidly. "Just from hearing what those men said about you owning them money, you need it more than I do." 'Pop!' Amelia then stepped out of the way as another raccoon dropped down from the sky. The raccoon turned to see Amelia glaring at him as she kicked it, sending it further into town.

"Hmm, well if you don't want money, how about a gun?" He asked Amelia.

"A gun would be nice, but, you need all the protection you can get from those Mafia goons." Replied Amelia.

"Well while I thank you for your compassion, Amelia, my hands are too shakey to hold a gun." Said Barry showing her his decrepit hands. "I have all I can do to just hold a cup of tea with these worn-out hands. It would get more use with someone much younger than I."

"...I see I can't turn you down on this can I?" Asked Amelia as Barry gave her a smile. "Okay, I'll go check on your brothers, but, I don't know the town too well." Barry then handed her a map with two x's on the map. "That works." She said as walked away.

After she did a man appeared behind Barry.

"I take it she did this?" Asked the man.

"She was just helping me with a problem, Sam." Said Barry with his back still turned to Sam.

"Murder is murder." Said Sam as he inspected the corpse.

"And the Mafia hasn't?" Questioned Barry making Sam grumble.

"It's different." He said as Barry got out of his chair.

"How is it exactly different?" Asked Barry grabbing his teacup. "If the Mafia kills you don't arrest them, you try but, their boss always bails them out or teaches our town a lesson by sending swarms of his men to raid the city." Barry then went to his apartment's door. "The difference here is that she's willing to kill them while you brawl with them, Sam. She may even be the person who saves Calcite and bring it back to its former glory."

"Or she could make it worse." Replied Sam as he grabbed the corpse. "It may even get the attention of a certain pain." He said as he looked at a nearby sewer drain. "And we know what will happen if "that" gets out of its cage."

"She will take care of it." Said Barry.

"And what exactly makes you think that she would do such a thing!" Shouted Sam.

"Because she's different Sam." Answered Barry as he open his door. "That girl has gone through a hell that the both of us couldn't imagine." He then entered his apartment leaving Sam with the corpse on his shoulder.

Sam then looked at the crater that was left by Amelia's knife and sighed. "She'd better. This town doesn't need another Timmy." He said as he walked away from the scene.

Meanwhile back where the first raccoon was murdered. A person was standing over its corpse as it touched the wounds on the corpse. They brought their fingers to their nose and sniffed them. "Hmm, it's been a while since I came across this kind of magic." Said the individual as they grinned. "I wonder what other spectacles they will bring?" He then looked upwards and saw Amelia leaping onto another section of the city. "Maybe this job won't be such a waste of my time after all."
