I don't own Naruto, Kishimoto does.
Obito stomped into a small town with Zetsu, the white half currently asking about the feeling of sneezing. A topic that he has been speaking about for the last three hours. Obito side eyed Zetsu, wondering how it would be if he didn't have a mouth. Quiet. Obito answered.
"Why are we here, Obito?" Black Zetsu asked over his white counterpart.
"To get supplies." Obito grunted.
"Why would we need supplies? We don't need to eat, drink, or sleep. We don't fatigue."
Obito sighed, "I just want to feel normal. And normal means getting supplies so we can stop and rest. We may not fatigue, but my legs still ache from all this walking, and I for one would like to just sit down and rest."
"Fine." Black Zetsu conceded. Obito rolled his eyes and moved forward. Zetsu said that Madara's eyes were in Ame. Obito took out his map, and groaned, he was still a few days away. The one thing that excited him about reaching Ame was that he could finally talk to someone else besides Zetsu. Even if it was just to manipulate them. Even manipulation was better than answering the hundreds of questions from White Zetsu about being human, and the questions from Black Zetsu about his plan to fulfill Madara's wishes. They were one note, and both together made them the worst traveling companion. The only good thing is that the White Zetsu copies were always bringing information about the location of their target.
Uzumaki Nagato, Obito thought. He was a war orphan, him and two friends have created an organization named the Akatsuki. Their goal was to bring peace into the worn torn region of Amegakure. If anything, their organization could end up helping him gather bijuu. They would need to be strong, they need to be S-Class shinobi, Obito thought. Obito's brow furrowed, how does he get a peaceful organization to start hunting bijuu? That was the question that has been keeping him from planning anything more. Maybe I can tell them about Madara's plan. Obito shook his head, that wouldn't work. How can he convince others of following along that plan when he himself isn't fully convinced?
"Why isn't my tea ready?!" A voice rolled through Obito's thoughts. He turned his onyx eyes to a group of shinobi sitting on a table outside of a small food stand. From the distance Obito couldn't see what the symbol was on their Hitai-ate.
The waitress came to the group, "Sorry sir, we had to heat up more water for your tea." She explained. The shinobi slammed his hand on the table and stood up.
"I saw you give tea to that civilian," he pointed to a couple next to them. "You chose to serve them over us?"
The waitress bowed apologetically, "Sorry sir, they arrived before you."
"That's not a good reason!" He yelled, "We are shinobi. We helped push Konaha from Ishi. We deserve to be served first. We definitely have the money to pay, you never have to guess with shinobi, unlike," he waved his arms towards the other customers, "with these people." He snarled the last word.
Obito watched as a look of anger appeared on the civilians, yet he knew no one would say anything to these shinobi. The waitress apologized once again and returned to the kitchen to get their tea. The shinobi sat back down with his comrades, as they laughed. Obito scoffed at their actions, he always hated how some shinobi felt they were more entitled than others. Something else to fix, Obito thought.
A small girl, maybe around nine or ten walked to the group of shinobi. "Excuse me," she interrupted. The group of shinobi turned and looked at her, she stared back with large brown orbs.
"What?" The man who had the earlier outburst asked.
"I overheard you say that you had money. I was wondering if you could spare some change so I can buy something to eat." The girl asked with a soft pleading smile.
"Get the hell out of here!" The man yelled giving the girl a push. She fell to the ground with a thump, she looked back up tears forming in her eyes. "Why would you think some dirty street rat could ask me for money?"
"I-I'm s-s-sorry, I'm just so hungry." She answered tears now falling down her cheeks.
A malicious smile crawled on the man's face. "So you are hungry huh? How about we make a bet. If you win, I'll buy you some food. If I win, well how about we just wait to see." The man said.
The girl tilted her head, "what kind of bet?" she asked.
The man pulled a kunai from his hip holster, "if you can cut me with this kunai." He threw the kunai into the ground, barely missing the girl.
She eyed the kunai warily, before taking it in her hand. She stood up and focused on the shinobi in front of her.
"Oh, before I forget you only have one chance. Miss and you lose. Understand?"
She nodded. The girl took off dashing towards the shinobi swinging the kunai wildly in front of her. The man slapped her wrist, sending the kunai flying from her grasp. He then lifted his leg and kicked her in the gut. The let out a gasp of air and fell to the ground. The group of shinobi laughed at their friend's antics, while the civilians kept asking him to stop. Obito knew if they tried anything, they would be taken down as easy as that girl was.
"Now what should my prize be, hmm?" The shinobi asked to everyone around him. He picked the kunai from the ground and twirled it in his hand. "Maybe a scar to remind her not to bother shinobi." He tapped his hitai-ate with the tip of the blade.
Obito's eyes widened as he saw the symbol. They're Kiri nin.
"I've got it, a beating should serve as a reminder. It will leave more than a few scars." The man nodded to himself, happy that he came up with a worthwhile prize. He took a step to the girl, she quickly put her arms up, he then slashed with kunai cutting her left arm. "I don't think that's deep enough to leave a scar, well nothing wrong with another try."
Obito clenched his fist, his eye narrowed as the man lifted the kunai above him. As his arm began to come down, Obito moved. Inches from the girl Obito caught the man's wrist.
"Eh? What you think you're doing?" The man asked.
"Stopping you." Obito stated calmly. He lifted his head and glared at the man with his sharingan.
"Uchiha." The man sneered, "Today is my lucky day, the bounty on Uchiha heads is astron-" The sound of flesh tearing interrupted the man. He looked down to see a sharp wooden object protruding out of his chest. His gaze wanders upwards back to Obito's sharingan, which is now spinning. The man then releases a scream.
Obito smiled as the man fell to the floor, screaming in agony thanks to his genjutsu. Obito then looked to the other shinobi. The civilians slowly backed away, afraid of being caught in a battle between shinobi. One of the Kiri nin went to punch Obito, but let out a surprised gasp when his fist went through Obito. Obito quickly grabbed underneath the man's chin and twisted it to the left. He released the nin when he heard a satisfying snap.
The last two shinobi took a step forward cautiously, not knowing how to fight the Uchiha. Obito however didn't give them a chance to formulate a plan. He quickly made more wooden rods and sent them through their chest. The let out a bloody gurgle as they fell to the ground. Obito then went through all four bodies, retrieving what ever useful items they had on them.
Once he was done he turned to the little girl, who crawled away. She looked at him fear brimming from her eyes. "I'm not going to hurt you." Obito said, "I just want you to have this." He lifted up four wallets, full of money. She backed away a little more. Obito smiled sadly and set the wallets in front of her, "go and buy some food." Obito rose and walked away. Ame here I come. Obito gave one last look to the girl, he noticed she gathered the wallets. Obito turned and smiled. At least something good came from that.

Rin slowly traced the name etched into the memorial stone in front of her. Her right hand over her heart, trying to slow the pain throbbing within her.
"I'm sorry I haven't visited you in a few weeks, Obito. I was hurt really bad," she let out a sigh. "I almost died." She chuckled. "I am happy I'm still alive, but I am kinda sad that I didn't get to see you again. I don't know if you saw everything, but I did something very stupid. See I was captured again, they put me under a sleep genjutsu and then the sealed the Sanbi inside of me. What was worse is that someone was strong enough to put the bijuu under a genjutsu to break from the seal and attack Konaha as soon as I went through the gates." Rin sat down leaning against the memorial stone.
"Kakashi came to rescue me. Even though you two didn't get along very well, he is trying so hard to keep his promise he made to you." She smiled lightly. "When we were on our way back to Konaha I got these visions of what the Sanbi was going to do, then we were attacked by Kiri Anbu. I knew I couldn't go back to Konaha, so when Kakashi aimed a Chidori at one of the Anbu I jumped in front of it."
Rin looked up to the sky, "please don't be mad at Kakashi, he couldn't have stopped if he wanted to. And I'm sorry I was so stupid. I didn't even think that Minato-Sensei and Kushina-neechan could've helped me with the seal. Thankfully the Sanbi did, the genjutsu lifted from him and he started healing me when the Kiri Anbu were preoccupied with some other man."
"Now I'm healed," Rin patted the spot where Kakashi's Chidori stabbed her, "I still have some pains but I'm lucky to be alive. Kushina-neechan has been so worried about me she keeps bringing meals to my house. She really is the older sister we always thought she was."
"Minato-Sensei has been investigating the incident so much, he is barely at home. I haven't seen him like this since you…" Rin took a deep shuttering breath, "since you died."
"Oh!" Rin exclaimed with a smile, "I've been talking a bit to the Sanbi. Turns out he is really sarcastic, even though he won't admit to it, I can tell he is actually kinda nice." Rin's smile faded, "I wish you could talk back to me. I really miss hearing your reassuring words. I miss your smile. I just miss you so much Obito." Rin eyes fell back down to the ground as tears started pouring down her face.
"Rin, are you okay?" A voice asked.
Rin turned to see her friend, looking at her worriedly through her red eyes. "No, I'm not." Rin quickly got up and hugged her friend, "I miss him so much Kurenai." She sobbed out. Rin buried her face in Kurenai's chest as she cried.
Kurenai softly stroked Rin's hair, "I know you do. At least you still have Kakashi."
"I know, but Obito use to make me smile so much. Every time I was sad he would do anything to make me happy. Kakashi just stands there, he never knows what to say. Obito always made me happy. Ever since he died I just feel so empty, it feels like there is a hole in my heart." She sobbed.
"I'm sorry Rin. You know you have me, right?" Kurenai asked.
"I know. And thank you. I'm sorry, I don't mean to be such a cry baby." Rin answered.
"No, no, you don't have anything to be sorry about. I'm sure it must be hard to lose a teammate."
"It's not just that he is gone, it's my fault he is."
"Rin you have to stop blaming yourself. Obito wouldn't want that. I'm sure if he knew you blamed yourself he would tell you that he would do it all again." Kurenai said trying to reassure her friend.
"I know." Rin said as she began to cry again.
After fifteen minutes Rin's sobs began to die down, she released Kurenai from her grief ridden hug. "I'm not going to cry anymore. I can't stay like this. I need to be stronger, so no one has to put themselves in danger for me again." Rin said.
"What are you going to do?" Kurenai asked.
"I'm still going to work on my medical ninjutsu, but I think I'm going to ask Kushina-neechan to train me. She is the strongest kunoichi I know. Then I'll be able to protect myself better, and Kakashi won't have to worry so much about his promise to Obito." Rin answered.
"I think that's a great idea." A new voice said. The two girls turned to see Kushina standing on the pathway to the memorial stone.
"Kushina-neechan what are you doing here?" Rin exclaimed.
"I was coming to see Obito when I overheard what you said. Sorry didn't mean to eavesdrop." She answered as she rubbed the back of her head.
"No don't worry about it." Rin reassured her, "so will you train me?"
"Of course. I will make you the strongest in the village, 'ttebane!" Kushina yelled.
Rin ran and gave her a hug, "thank you! Thank you!"
"You're welcome." Kushina smiled.
Hear that Obito, I'm gonna get stronger. I'll never worry you again.

Obito stumbled through the forest heading towards Amegakure. He rubbed the sweat from his brow when he sensed someone a few meters behind him. Who could be following me? He asked himself.
"Zetsu." Obito whispered to the cultivated life form, "have you noticed someone is following us?" Obito asked.
"Of course, I did, they've been following us since we left the town." White Zetsu answered.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Obito hissed.
"I thought you knew." White Zetsu said mid yawn.
"You go on ahead, I'm going to see who it is." Obito ordered. Zetsu nodded before disappearing into the earth. Obito let out a annoyed sign before making a cross with his fingers. A puff of smoke appeared next to him. Before the smoke cleared, Obito jumped into the tree landing softly on a branch.
The Obito clone walked a couple meters forward and then stopped and sat on a log. Obito's face dropped as he watched the girl from the village come from the direction he was just walking from. When she noticed the Obito clone sitting there, she stopped and quickly crouched down to avoid being seen. She set a large brown paper bag down, before moving towards the Obito clone.
Obito sighs and the jumps down quietly landing behind her, "why are you following me?" Obito asked.
The girl yelled a quick eep before turning around, "how?" she turned around to look at the clone who dispelled. "What?" She exclaimed.
"It was a clone." Obito exclaimed, "why are you following me?" Obito asked, hoping this time he would be answered.
"Sorry. I brought you some food, since you gave me all the money from those guys you-" she stopped herself from saying killed. "I thought you might be hungry." She reached down and took out a piece of bread offering it to Obito.
Obito sighed, "I'm not hungry."
"Oh." The girl said dejectedly, lowering the bread.
"Well thanks, I guess. I'm going to leave now." Obito said taking a step away from the girl.
"Wait!" The girl yelled. Obito turned around facing her with a questioning look. "Can I come with you?" she asked, a blush of embarrassment forming on her face.
"Why?" Obito asked.
"I don't want to be alone anymore! I'm scared of being hurt again. I want to be strong! Like you!" She yelled, tears forming in her eyes.
Obito stared at her, he felt bad for her but he knew she couldn't come with him. "No." Obito said.
The girl's face fell as more tears flowed. "Why?" she cried.
"It's not safe." Obito answered, walking away from the crying girl. He felt a hand grab his arm trying to stop him.
"Please! I'll be a great student. I promise! I'll help with anything!" She pleaded.
"I already said no. Plus I wouldn't be a great teacher, I was terrible at learning. I wouldn't even know where to begin." Obito argued. Hell, Bakashi would be a better teacher, Obito thought.
"Fine! Then I'm going to sit right here until you say yes." She yelled, taking a sit on the forest floor. She folded her arms and huffed in anger.
"Fine." Obito said, walking away.
"Fine!" she yelled again.
"You're such an annoying child!" Obito yelled in return.
"I'm not a child! I'm eleven!" She screeched.
"That's still a child!" Obito disputed. He continued walking before turning around and seeing that the girl had her knees tucked into her chest as she cried.
She should be fine out here, right? Obito asked himself. He took another couple steps when he heard her sniffle. Oh, man. She's really laying it on thick. "Fine you can come along." Obito sighed out.
"Really!" She shouted. She quickly rose up and ran to him, wrapping him in a hug, "thank you!"
"Okay, okay, your welcome," Obito softly pushed her away, "just stop touching me." She nodded backing away. "We'll camp her for the night. Go and get some wood for a fire." Obito ordered.
"Okay!" she exclaimed happily going off to find wood. Obito sat down, At least she's not Zetsu.
After an hour and thanks to Obito's katon, they sat around the fire. Obito turned towards the girl, "so what's your name?" Obito asked.
The girl took a bite out of the meat she was cooking, "My name is Hokisareta Asami." She said between chewing. "What's yours?"
"Um…" I can't really tell her my real name. "Um… um…. It's Ob- I mean it- no wait its Tobi." Obito stuttered.
Asami tilted her head in confusion, "did you not remember your own name?" She asked.
"No, it's not that, I just haven't said my name in a while." Obito answered.
"Oh, well nice to meet you!" Asami leaned over her hand extended.
Obito shook her hand, "nice to meet you too."
After another hour has passed, Asami wanted to sleep but was afraid to let Obito be awake alone. He reassured her that it was fine, he is going to keep watch. After some deliberating, she agreed and fell asleep.
Obito was poking at the smoldering fire, when Zetsu came up to him.
"Why is that child here? She has no part in Madara's plan." Black Zetsu questioned.
"Did it ever cross your mind that I am doing this for Madara's plan?" Obito sighed.
"I don't see how. She is to weak to be of any use." Black Zetsu countered.
"I'm just taking a que from Madara, I am his proxy for his plan. She is to be my proxy for when I can't be two places at once." Obito said. "Plus I'll make her stronger, and myself."
"I'm still not convinced." Black Zetsu said.
"Oh come on, I think it's a great idea. Obito is a good boy, I'm sure he has the plan solely on his mind. He is to be the savior, isn't he?!" White Zetsu exclaimed.
"Okay, but if she becomes a liability, I guarantee I will end her." Black Zetsu sneered.
Obito waved in agreement. I did say it would be dangerous. Obito sighed, Don't be mad at me Rin, I promise I'll keep her safe.
Asami's last name is literally abandoned translated into Japanese, more of her backstory will come up later. I just thought of her because I felt Obito needed something to ground him into reality. First off I want to say that Obito is not evil at the moment at least, he is a confused kid. The constant presence of Zetsu, the memories of Madara, his trauma, and Rin's death have essentially turn his thoughts into a thunder storm of confusion. Hence Asami something he can focus on that's not the dark thoughts he has be dealing with all alone.
And Rin deciding to become stronger is something, I could imagine her doing in cannon if she survived.
Once again thank you for reading, please comment and let me know what you think and if there something I need to work on to make the story more enjoyable. Heck even let me know what you want to see happen because it may even be better than what I'm planning.
