I do not own Naruto, Kishimoto does.

I have redone my outline, and now this story is going in a different direction then I originally plan. But I like the new direction more, hopefully you guys will as well.

Edit: I added some things that are explained in the end note due to spoilers.

Obito forced his chakra to stay down as he heard Minato-sensei and Fugaku enter the house. They were both greeted by a chorus of 'hellos' and one loud 'what the hell happened?' curtesy of Kushina.

He continued to look over the scrolls as he listened to Minato-sensei explain the attack at the Hyuga compound. Even with the serious topic they were talking about he could hear the worry and care offered by every person in the living room down below. Even the squeels of the two children running around and playing.

A sense of longing tugged at his heart. It wasn't a physical pain, the way the curse seal would tighten around him. It was a metaphysical pain he usually feels when he thinks of those who were once close to him.

He leaned closer listening to the families, he truly almost ended that himself. He hated to think about what would have happened if two Sannin, the former Hokage, and his two former teammates weren't there that night. Would he have been able to extract the Kyuubi from Kushina, therefore ending her life? Would he have fought Minato-sensei in a death match? Would he had release the Kyuubi on Konoha to kill hundreds? The answer is yes, he would have.

That was the answer he struggled with the past few years as he furthered Madara's goal. He also struggled with the fact that he'll need to kill both Rin and Kushina for the bijuu they hold.

"Um, Tou-san." Obito heard the voice of the one called Itachi, whisper. Thanks to the constant channeling of chakra into his hears, he could hear him clearly.

"What is it, Itachi?" Fugaku asked in a matching whisper.

"I sense someone upstairs." Itachi answered.

Obito frowned, he tried to figure out how that child knew he was upstairs when none of the older shinobi had an inkling. He looked over the shelves of scrolls once more before kamuing out of the Namikaze office. Thankfully no one saw him.

He appeared in a clearly just outside of Konoha, still clutching the six scrolls about curse seals. He glanced at the rolled paper, hoping that one held the secrets to free him from this burden. Suddenly a flash of yellow filled his vision along with a sharp pain to his side.

Obito stumbled over the ground before stopping his movement and standing, he turned to face his sensei.

"You were in my house." Minato-sensei stated, "what were you aft- Ah I see you were after scrolls about curse seals."

"I'm surprised you were able to figure that out with only a glance, Yondaime." Obito replied in his Madara voice.

"They are my scrolls, I color coated each roll to help me quickly find what I need." Minato-sensei said.

Obito glanced down at the scrolls noticing that two handles on each scroll had a black mark on them. He inwardly cursed, he felt like an idiot for not figuring it out. "I see."

"What do you need with that information, Madara?" Minato-Sensei asked.

"I think it's clear that I plan to use it. Now if you don't mind, I do need to be going." Obito responded activating his Kamui.

Minato-sensei quickly flashed away before kicking him stopping him from leaving, "I'm not going to let you escape this time. You are a threat to my village and most importantly my family."

"Ah, you managed to mark me three years ago. It would seem that marking doesn't leave once its implanted. No matter." Obito quickly lunged forward, faster than Minato-sensei could react. He sent his fist into his stomach. The force of his punch created a wave of air that passed over him, forcing his long hair to swing about behind him. "I truly wasn't looking to fight, but you have brought this on yourself."

Obito then elbowed the still shocked Minato in his face. The blonde hokage skidded across the ground before rolling to a stop.

Minato-sensei returned to his feet, wiping the blood from his face, "you have gotten much stronger since the last time we fought. You hit harder now."

"Yes as time moves on I continue to regain the strength I once had." Obito replied.

Minato-sensei nodded in understanding before his arms flew from his side, as five of his special kunai struck the ground around Obito. Within a bright yellow light Rin, Kakashi, Fugaku, Kushina, and Kaito all appeared by the kunai.

"Do you think it's wise to bring the two jinchuriki to me?" Obito asked avoiding Rin's eyes.

Minato-sensei smiled, "it is a bit of a gamble, but like I said this time you will not escape."

Obito took in his situation, he couldn't use Kamui to leave since Minato-sensei was faster at teleporting then he was. Not even having the increased speed to use the jutsu that having both eyes offered was fast enough. He quickly deduced if he wants to break away from here then he'll have to take out Minato-sensei first. Obito quickly lunged at Minato-Sensei who disappeared in a flash. He stopped moving letting the Rasengan go through him, he turned in time to see a large ball of fire coming towards him. Instead of using kamui he dodged to his right appearing in front of Kakashi, with a quick strike he sent the jonin flying into a tree.

He formed a wooden rod and threw it at the presence that was approaching him, the tearing of flesh and the groan of pain let him know he hit his target. A blur of red then tried to crash into him, once again forgoing using kamui he blocked all of Kushina's attacks. He grabbed her wrist and swung her into an approaching Rin.

Obito then avoiding a strike from Fugaku who had his sharingan active. Seeing Minato flash away, he sent a kick behind him connecting with a surprised Minato. Obito then blocked a punch from the elder Uchiha, he sent his own fist crashing into his face.

Turning around he grabbed Minato by his hair, when he flashed away. Obito stood in between the six Konoha shinobi. He realized that a man with sandy brown hair was the one who received a wooden rod into his right thigh. He watched Rin pull it out and heal him, when he heard her say the man's name: Kaito.

Rin, Kaito, Fugaku, and Kushina all rushed forward towards Obito. Kakashi created a Chidori, and Minato created another Rasengan.

The four shinobi quickly converged on Obito, who blocked and dodged all their attacks. He kicked Kushina in her leg causing her to buckle, he then spun around kicking Fugaku in the chest. He avoided the strikes Rin sent at him, using her forward momentum he grabbed her wrist and pulled her forward. He sent his knee into her midsection. He then caught Kaito's punch within his hand, holding it tightly, he sent a quick strike on the bottom of Katio's elbow pushing it upward with a loud snap. Katio yelled in pain when Obito kicked him away.

Then with a flash of yellow both Kakashi and Minato appeared in front of Obito. Kakashi sent his Chidori tearing into his shoulder, as Minato sent the Rasengan into Obito's midsection. Obito flew back into a tree. Both Fugaku and Kushina pushed in front of Minato and Kakashi, they quickly flew through seals. Fugaku released a fire jutsu, while Kushina released a wind jutsu to amplify the fire.

The two jutsus flew towards Obito. Obito raised his head and used Kamui to suck in the jutsu before it reached him.

He tore himself from the tree glaring at his opponents. He could already feel the wounds he sustained healing. He knew that he could end this fight quickly, but that would require him to either kill them or have to answer questions to why he didn't take the jinchuriki with him.

He wasn't ready for the bijuu yet, or so he told himself not believing the thought. Obito launched himself forward, he quickly hit Minato into Kakashi. He swung around with a kick into Fugaku's ribs. The crunching noise signified he broke a couple. He slapped away Kushina's strike before backhanding her right cheek.

Rin ran forward an orb of water in surrounding her right hand, a long stream erupted from the orb. Obito let the stream pass through him. When Rin reached him, he simply kicked her in the chest sending her flying.

Kaito attempted to stab him with a kunai, Obito grabbed his wrist and forced the kunai from his grasp. He raised the kunai and brought it down.

"NOOOOO!" Rin screamed.

The pain in the yell forced Obito to stop, the tip of the kunai inches from Kaito's chest. Red chakra burst from Rin, engulfing her. Two tails swinging behind her. Kushina stood beside her and whispered something before a similar shroud of chakra surrounded her, she too had two tails swinging behind her.

Both Jinchuriki lunged forward, Obito fended off their wild attacks of limbs and tails. Each opening he saw that could end the fight, were ones that he knew if he took, they would die.

He constantly told himself he was waiting for the right time, but he knew. He knew he didn't want to kill them. Even if they will be alive within the Ifinite Tsukiyomi he couldn't bring himself to kill them.

Obito hit the two jinchuriki away from him. They each landed next to the others, creating a line of powerful shinobi, and Kaito, each ready to kill him. Inwardly he hoped they did, in this fight it became clear. He was unable to kill his friends, his love.

Don't worry Obito, I'll capture the two jinchuriki for you. A voice sounded within his head, before a wave a pain rippled through his body, centering around his heart and the seal. The pain caused Obito to scream, falling to his knees. He felt something tearing out of his right side wrapping itself around his skin.

He grit his teeth, and glanced to his right. A black substance shrouded his right side, a substance that reminded him of Black Zetsu.

I knew with her being alive Madara's hold on you would begin to slip. Which is why he implanted part of me inside you. To assure that you will always be on his path, in such cases where you would follow your own selfish desires. Black Zetsu said within his mind, while he couldn't see him, Obito knew he was smiling.

"Zetsu," Obito managed to groan out.

Obito felt his body stand back up, his eyes forced to face the Konoha Shinobi. His eyes narrowed. He felt his chakra go into his left eye, which was focused on Minato-sensei's face. Knowing that Zetsu was going to try to use Kamui to remove his sensei's head, Obito through the pain forced his head to turn away.

"Fighting back won't help you," Black Zetsu spoke through the substance on the right side of his face. His body lunged forward, as five wooden clones climbed out of his body. His right arm extended towards Rin a wooden rod forming out of his palm, as the clones engaged the others. Thankfully Rin dodged the attack, one of her tails hitting him on his left side. He didn't feel it through the pain that already surrounded his body.

Obito's body contorted in the air landing safely on his feet. Obito's hands flew through seals, "Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu!"The fireball glided towards Rin, she created a quick water wall that saved her from the jutsu. Steam surrounded the two of them, Obito's body rushed to the right, then lunged towards her, two wooden rods in his grasp. Obito could feel that his body was ready to kill her.

Obito forced his left leg to extend causing his body to stop abruptly. The momentum pushed him forward into the ground.

"She needs to stay alive." Obito uttered quietly.

"The Sanbi will form again after she dies. Her life is impeding our plans." Black Zetsu responded, making Obito's body stand up. Three more wooden clones tore from his body, to replenish the ones that were destroyed.

Obito's body blitzed froward, landing in front of Rin. His hands quickly connected four strikes on her body. His left leg shot up kicking her right leg, causing her to buckle. His right knee crashed into her face. The force of the hit lifted her body from the ground, his right hand shot forward grabbing her throat, her bijuu chakra dissipated. His left hand created another wooden rod and surged towards her throat.

"NOOOOO!" Obito yelled, forcing all his will to stop Black Zetsu from taking her away from him again.

Minato took out a clone, his arms laid to his side as he scanned the area. Something was definitely up with Madara, that black substance that surrounded his right side was alarming, including the scream that prefaced it. Even his fighting style was different. Then there was the voice that came from him. It was a deep scrawling voice that spoke a name, Zetsu. An even different voice was coming from him now.

He turned towards the real Madara, barely seeing his and Rin's silhouette. He watched as Madara lunged forward, Minato readied his chakra to help Rin, when suddenly Madara's left leg shot out forcing him to fall to the ground.

Minato stood confused, why would he stop himself from attacking? Minato's eyes widened; he is being controlled! Minato exclaimed in his mind. Why would someone else need to take control of Madara in order to fight against them? He was doing fine alone.

Unless… "he wasn't trying to kill us." Was he being controlled this whole time? Madara wasn't a person who'd let himself be controlled so easy. Could it be that the masked man isn't Madara. The Sandaime was the one who said he looked exactly like a young Madara. It was a henge! Then that would mean his original hypothesis could still be correct. The masked man still could be Obito.

That would explain why he hasn't landed a fatal blow on anyone, he was sure he must have been presented with multiple opportunities to do so. Minato quickly went over all his interactions with the masked Uchiha. When he remembered him activating his mangekyo sharingan, both of them. The two eyes had the same pattern. The masked man took the sharingan that Kakashi had to replenish the one he didn't have. That sharingan was originally Obito's.

Minato furrowed his brows, from everything Fugaku has told him a mangekyo keeps its pattern even if its transplanted. If both eyes have the same pattern, one was definitely Obito's, then Minato now knew with high certainty that the masked man was Uchiha Obito.

But what could have forced him to attack his comrades? Minato then thought about what started the current battle, he stole scrolls on curse seals. Yes, that's it! Obito was being controlled by a curse seal somewhere on or in his body.

A scream tore Minato from his musings, he turned to where Obito was fighting Rin. Obito's hand held up Rin by her throat, his other hand grasping one of those rods was advancing towards her. Minato prepared to use his Hiraishin, when a swirling vortex sucked Rin in.

Minato smiled, even though Obito was being controlled he kept Rin safe. No matter where he sent her he was sure that she will be okay.

"If that's the case Obito then as your sensei, I'll help you." Five blue chakra flames formed on the tips of his fingers on his right hand, a seal formed on his palm. This was a seal he learned from Kushina, it was one that could cancel the majority of seals.

Minato felt the familiar rush of activating the Hiraishin, he appeared behind Obito. He thrusted his right hand unto Obito's back, he activated the seal watching it spread across Obito's body. Obito let out a pain filled scream as his hands clutched at his chest.

"What did you do?!" The second voice yelled as the black substance began to melt off of Obito's body.

"What did you do with Rin, 'ttebane?!" Kushina yelled sending a chakra tail towards Obito.

"Kushina stop!" Minato yelled before the tail tore into Obito's stomach, poking out his back.

Kushina removed the chakra tail as the others converged on them, "what? Why?"

Minato looked at Obito as blood and black substance pooled beneath him, "because he isn't truly our enemy." Obito's eyes turned to Minato. That's when for the first time Minato saw what Rin saw when she fought him the night Naruto was born. His eyes were filled with guilt and sadness. They looked conflicted. Minato let a soft smile cross his face, "isn't that right, Obito?"

"What Obito? Are you sure Minato-kun, we all were sure he is Madara?" Kushina asked.

"I am sure. This is Uchiha Obito." Minato answered.

Obito began to cough, he knew he was coughing out blood. "What did you do to me?" Obito asked in that deep scrawly voice. Even as low as it was, he knew it was Obito's voice.

"I used a seal that removes all seals on a person or object, hopefully that took care of whatever cursed seal was placed on you." Minato responded.

Kushina's chakra shroud disappeared as she fell on her knees in front of Obito, her hands covering her mouth as tears poured down her cheeks, "are you really Obito?"

"I-I don't k-know anymore." Obito answered looking at Kushina. Based on her eye's widening, he knew she could see what he saw when looking at Obito's eyes. "I'm sorry," Obito coughed out before disappearing inside a swirling vortex.

"Minato-kun?" Kushina uttered.

Minato walked over and set his hand on his wife's shoulder, "don't worry I'm sure he just went to get Rin."

"Do you think he'll come back home now?"

"I hope so," Minato answered.

"How did you figure out it was Obito?" Kakashi asked.

"It was his sharingan, or more so the one he took from you. It held the same pattern as the one he had originally. It was either that he ended up with both of Obito's eyes or he is Obito. He took scrolls about curse seals from my office, with how he behaved when the black substance came out it was clear to see he was being controlled by a curse seal. He probably has been controlled since that boulder fell on him." Minato explained.

"That is a sound theory. It's hard to believe he is Obito though." Fugaku commented.

"Yes, but I'm now 100% sure that that masked Uchiha is Obito." Minato said.

Rin sat on the ground trying to figure out how to get out of wherever she is. She looked around, the sky was black and grey cubic structures were everywhere. She truly didn't know where she was.

Even though she was worried about her current location, she was more worried about why Madara didn't kill her. She first assumed he wanted to extract Isobu from her, but he was about to kill her. And then that scream that erupted from his mouth before she arrived at this strange location confused her more. The voiced that screamed seemed so familiar to her, but she couldn't place it.

"Why?" Rin yelled into the nothingness. Why was that voice nagging at her, why was it tugging against something in her mind?

Genjutsu. The voice of Isobu answered in her mind.

What do you mean genjutsu? Rin asked.

Isobu let out a loud sigh, The last time you faced Madara a few months ago, he placed a genjutsu on you.

What? Why didn't you tell me?! Rin yelled.

Because when he placed you in the genjutsu he managed to get me into by accident, I only just broke out of it when you went into the two tail state. Your anger helped distort my chakra enough for me to notice the genjutsu and break it. Isobu explained.

Oh, sorry for yelling at you, Isobu. Rin said.

Don't worry, I'm used to your idiotic outbursts, Isobu replied with a chuckle.

Stop calling me stupid! Rin yelled before stopping herself from going on a long tirade. How do I break this genjutsu?

I'm already prepared to break it for you. I just need your acceptance to my help.

Yes, go ahead.

Okay, this will be a tad bit painful. I apologize in advance. Isobu said.

A sharp pain tore into Rin's mind. It felt like her brain was being torn to shreds. She let out a scream. The pain then began to recede, that hurt a lot.

I did say it would be painful. Isobu retorted.

You said a tad bit, not that my mind would feel like it was tearing itself apart! Rin exclaimed.

It was a very complex memory altering genjutsu, that man is very skilled. Not as much as the one who put me in a genjutsu when I was sealed in you, however. Isobu said.

I hate all these damn gen- forgotten memories began to flood into her mind all focused on the tired look on his rugged face. The sad eyes that stared back at her. The look of longing. The shiver she felt when he spoke with his true voice. The way her heart jumped when he said her name. The small smile he showed, that wasn't as large or happy as when he was younger. The strength she felt when he caught her. The carefulness he had when he laid her gently on the ground. The deepening scars when he frowned at her suggestion of returning home. The pain she felt in her heart when he refused her. The feeling of his hands on hers before he placed the genjutsu. The feeling of loving that raven-haired idiot.

"Obito," she whispered.

Yes. It would seem that boy you constantly dream about is the masked man.

What happened to him? Rin asked more to herself.

I'm not sure, however when we fought him this time, I felt another chakra within him. It was the same chakra that attempted to control me with genjutsu. It might be that he too is being controlled. Isobu offered.

That must be it! I knew Obito couldn't hurt me or his friends.

Suddenly a vortex formed in front of her as Obito fell out clutching a gaping wound on his stomach.

Rin quickly jumped up running to him, "Obito!"

Obito looked up his sharingan eyes fell onto her, "how?"

I don't have much to say about this chapter besides apologizing once again for my not so great fight scenes. I can imagine them well in my mind but when I try to write it I just go blank lol. Especially with so many trying to fight Obito at once. But he needs to be ganged up on, if it was one on one then he would smack them away quickly lol. Of course, if he was trying to kill them then he'd just Kamui heads off lol.

Thank you guys so much for the constant support for this story, I'm truly grateful that you guys are enjoying it. Let me know what ya'll think about the new chapter.

Edit: I added more to when Rin breaks the genjutsu and remembers Obito when he took his mask off. I think it adds more impact, all thanks to the suggestion from
