Hey guys, here's chapter 2 of Shadow Storm (2023). Here we go.

Nightmare Moon laughed evilly, lightning striking as her misty mane and tail swirled in the air.

"Seize her! Only she knows where the princess is!" the mayor said, the Royal Guards flying towards the dark alicorn.

"Stand back, you fools!" Nightmare Moon's eyes glowed, laughing as she blew the guards away.

Twilight and Shadow watched as Nightmare Moon transformed into a cloud of mist and flew out. Rainbow Dash got of AJ's grip as she flew after the evil pony. Twilight and Shadow looked at each other.

"You said you were Princess Celestia's other student, right?" Twilight asked, holding an unconscious Spike under her arm.

"That's right," Shadow gave a confirming nod.

"Then come with me," Twilight motioned for him to follow her.

The two ponies then made their way out past the group of panicking ponies.

Golden Oaks Library…

"Let me guess, we're looking for the Elements of Harmony, am I right?" Shadow asked as Twilight stepped downstairs, coming out of her room as she put Spike to sleep.

"You already know what we need in order to defeat Nightmare Moon?" Twilight raised an eyebrow as she approached him.

"You're not the only one that's read that story. Although I've known about the story of Nightmare Moon since I was a kid," Shadow smirked, "Where the Elements of Harmony are? Well, the funny thing is they're—"

"And just what ARE the Elements of Harmony?" Rainbow Dash suddenly appeared, interrupting him, "And how did YOU TWO know about Nightmare Moon, huh?" she pointed to both ponies, "Were you secretly SPIES—Ow!" she yelped upon receiving a smack on the forehead by Shadow.

"Shut up, Rainbow!" Shadow replied, "We're not spies," he said, narrowing his eyes at her.

"But you sure know what's going on," AJ said, she, Rarity, Fluttershy and Pinkie appearing as well, "Don't you, guys?"

Shadow and Twilight looked at each other, then at the girls.

"I read all about the prediction of Nightmare Moon. Some mysterious objects called the Elements of Harmony are the only things that can stop her, but I don't know what they are, where to find them. I don't even know what they do!" Twilight told the others.

"I know a thing or two about the Elements of Harmony," Shadow spoke, everypony looking at him, "There are six Elements of Harmony, but only five are known: Kindness, Laughter, Generosity, Honesty, and Loyalty"

"Do you know where to find them?" Twilight asked.

"If I remember correctly, the story said they should be somewhere in the ancient castle of the two pony sisters," Shadow rubbed his chin, "The only problem is the castle is located in what's now…"

The Everfree Forest…

"The Everfree Forest…" Everypony said, standing in front of the unnatural-looking forest.

"Alright, let's do this," Shadow said, stepping forward.

"Not so fast!" Twilight said, stopping Shadow in his tracks, "Look, I appreciate the offer, but I'd really rather do this on my own," she told him.

"Yeah, not happening, Twi," Shadow looked back at her over his shoulder, "If you do this alone, you're most likely gonna die. I have a feeling it's going to take all of us to find the Elements and take down Nightmare Moon," he replied.

"Mm-hm," the other girls nodded in agreement as they headed into the forest.

"Also, if you died, Celestia would be devastated and wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing I was indirectly responsible for it," Shadow added then went in shortly after.

Twilight sighed and soon followed.

Moments later, the seven ponies were walking through the forest.

"So… none of you have been in here before?" Twilight asked the others.

"Oh, heavens, no. Just look at it. It's dreadful," Rarity replied.

"I've actually been in here several times before," Shadow chimed in, "This where I come when I want to train and practice my moves."

"Why here?" Twilight asked.

"Let's just say the type of training and practice I do is too dangerous to do in town," Shadow replied, "If I did, they'd probably have to repair buildings every week."

"But the Everfree Forest ain't natural. Folks say it don't work the same as Equestria," Applejack spoke.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Twilight asked.

"Nopony knows," Rainbow said in a spooky voice, "You know why?" she creeped towards Fluttershy, Rarity and Pinkie Pie.

"Rainbow, quit it," Applejack told her.

"Because everypony who as ever come in has never… come… OUT!" Rainbow shouted.

The minute she did though, the cliff broke underneath everypony. Everyone except for Rainbow, Fluttershy and Shadow Storm slid down the rocky slope.

"Guys, quick!" Shadow said, he and the two pegasus mares dashing after the others, Fluttershy panicking.

Rainbow had managed to grab Pinkie while Fluttershy had managed to save Rarity. Twilight screamed as she dangled at the edge of a cliff.

"Hold on, I'm coming!" Applejack said as she released the branch she was holding on to and slid towards Twilight.

"Applejack, what do I do?" Twilight asked with worry trying and failing to pull herself up.

"Let go," AJ told her.

"Are you crazy?!" Twilight looked at her.

"No, I ain't. I promise you'll be safe," AJ reassured.

"That's not true!" Twilight said.

"Now, listen here, what I'm saying to you is the honest truth. Let go and you'll be safe," AJ told the lavender unicorn.

There was a brief pause… then Twilight let go. The unicorn mare screamed briefly before feeling a pair of arms holding her. She looked at Shadow who was holding her bridal style. Twilight sighed with relief. The two slowly descended as AJ hopped downward from cliff to cliff. Once low enough, Shadow placed Twilight back on her hooves.

The seven ponies continued their journey, Shadow and Twilight leading in front.

"Hey, thanks for saving me back there," Twilight whispered.

"No problem," Shadow smiled.

"So… what exactly can you do that made you Celestia's second student?" Twilight asked.

"You really don't remember?" Shadow smirked, raising an amused eyebrow. Twilight replied with a shake of her head, "Well, I'm no ordinary pegasus. You see, I'm what's called a—"

"Manticore!" Twilight shouted, a lion with bat wings and a scorpion's tail appearing, the beast roaring at them, "We've got to get past it."

The manticore lunged at Shadow and swiped at him, only for the stallion to duck and do a roundhouse kick to the beast's face. Shadow then did several backflips back to the others.

"Wait," Fluttershy spoke softly.

The manticore chased after Shadow, only to be stopped by AJ pulling on its ears.

"Yee-haw! Get along, little doggie!" AJ shouted as she rode the manticore like the wild animal it was.

"Wait!" Fluttershy spoke a little louder.

AJ's ride on the manticore didn't last long as it managed to throw her off.

"All yours, partner," AJ told Rainbow as she soared through the air.

"I'm on it!" Rainbow saluted.

"Wait!" Fluttershy said as Rainbow flew past her in a blur, circling around the manticore in a miniature tornado.

Rainbow, however was then flung away by the manticore's scorpion tail.

"Rainbow!" Twilight cried as the rainbow haired pegasus skidded across the ground.

The manticore growled as it swiped its paw along the ground, six of the seven ponies doing the same with their hooves. A spark of electricity quickly surged through Shadow's eyes. The ponies then charged.

"WAIIIT!" Fluttershy shouted, stopping everypony. Fluttershy calmly approached the beast.

The manticore roared, raising its paw as if it were about to slash at her.

"Shh! It's ok," Fluttershy cooed in a soothing tone. She then placed a hand on the beast's closer paw, rubbing it. The manticore turned its paw over, showing a large thorn within it, "Oh, you poor, poor little baby…" Fluttershy cooed.

"Little?" Rainbow repeated.

"Baby?" Shadow raised an eyebrow.

"Now, this might hurt for just a second," Fluttershy calmly told the manticore. Using her hand, she plucked the thorn from the manticore's paw, effectively removing it.

The manticore roared as it held Fluttershy in its paws.

"Fluttershy!" Everypony said with worry.

Only for the manticore to start licking the pegasus mare's face, making her giggle.

"Huh. Ok then," Shadow said, he and the others using this opportunity to walk past the manticore.

"How'd you know about the thorn?" Twilight asked Fluttershy.

"I didn't. Sometimes we all just need to be shown a little kindness," Fluttershy replied.

"My eyes need a rest from all this icky muck!" Rarity said they got deeper into the forest. The moon then went behind the tops of the trees, causing everything to go mostly dark, "I didn't mean that literally…" Rarity muttered.

"That ancient ruin could be right in front of our faces and we wouldn't even know it," Twilight commented.

"I think I stepped in something," AJ said. Fluttershy screamed. "It's just mud," AJ said. The farm pony turned her head, then screamed upon seeing a scary face on a tree.

Everypony then realized they were surrounded by scary faced trees. Every pony screamed. Well, everypony except for Pinkie and Shadow, that is. Shadow thought they looked kind of cool, while Pinkie Pie… Pinkie Pie just laughed. She even went as far as making faces of her own.

"Pinkie, what are you doing? Run!" Twilight told her.

"Why? They're just stupid trees," Shadow looked at her.

"Oh, guys, don't you see?" Pinkie started to shuffle, "When I was a little filly and the sun was going down…" she started in a singing tone.

One song later…

The seven ponies were on the ground, sharing a laugh. Their laughter had caused the faces on the trees to vanish.

The seven ponies had arrived at a rushing river. The current was far too strong to swim across.

"How are we gonna cross this?" Pinkie Pie asked.

"Rainbow, Fluttershy and I could just carry you guys across," Shadow offered, "Well, Rainbow and I could carry you across at least," he corrected himself.

That's when they all heard crying. Going to investigate, they saw a giant sea serpent with a mustache. Well, half mustache since the right side of it appeared to be cut off.

"Dude, why are you crying?" Shadow asked.

"Well, I don't know. I was just sitting here, minding my own business, when this tacky little cloud of purple smoke wisped past me and tore half of my beloved moustache clean off! And now I look simply horrid!" The serpent fell back into the water, splashing everypony.

"Oh, give me a break!" Rainbow groaned under her breath.

"That's what all the fuss is about?" AJ asked.

"Dude, don't be such a little bitch," Shadow muttered under his breath with a roll of his eyes.

"How can you all be so insensitive?" Rarity said, stepping forward, "Oh, look at him. What lovely, luminescent scales," she stroked the serpent's chin.

"I know," the serpent sniffled.

"And your perfectly quaffed mane," Rarity added.

"Oh, I know, I know!" the serpent sat up, running his claws through his mane.

"And your fabulous manicure!" Rarity said.

"So true," the serpent said.

"There had better be a point to this…" Shadow muttered.

"All ruined without your beautiful moustache," Rarity commented.

"It's true, I'm hideous!" the serpent wailed.

"I simply can't let a crime against fabulosity go uncorrected," Rarity narrowed her eyes with a serious determination.

The fashion pony then plucked a scale from the serpent's body.

"Ow! What did you do that for?!" the serpent whined.

"What are you about to do with—" Shadow stopped midway when Rarity took a hold of her own tail and cut it off. Well, the hair part at least.

The serpent then collapsed. Rarity used her magic to levitate her detached tail and somehow fuse it to the right side of the serpent's lip where his mustache used to be. Essentially, she had made a new mustache for him.

"Ooh! My moustache! How wonderful!" the serpent beamed.

"You look smashing!" Rarity smiled.

"Oh, Rarity, your beautiful tail!" Twilight looked at the severed tail of her fellow unicorn with concern.

"Oh, it's fine, my dear. Short tails are in this season," Rarity reassured, "Besides, it'll grow back," she added.

"You know what else would've grown back? His mustache," Shadow said flatly.

"Oh, hush, Shadow," Rarity waved him off playfully, "Besides, now we match," she looked back, comparing her now short tail to Shadow's, though the stallion's tail was bit longer.

"Heh. Yeah, I guess," Shadow smirked, "And now that the river isn't rushing like crazy, let's cross it."

The serpent used his body to back a platform bridge of sorts across the river. The seven ponies then crossed the river by hopping across the serpent's body.

It took a long time, but the seven ponies had finally arrived at their destination.

"There it is! The ruin that holds the Elements of Harmony. We made it!" Twilight smiled.

"About time," Shadow said, "Now let's get them and take Nightmare Moon down!" he smirked, clenching a fist of determination.

"Guys, wait for us!" AJ called out as they ran for it.

"We're almost—" Twilight stopped when Shadow held his arm out in front of her. The mare looked at the stallion.

He pointed downward. The bridge had broken off. A few more inches and they would've fallen off the edge.

"Now what?" Pinkie asked.

"Duh!" Rainbow flexed her wings before taking off.

Rainbow flew down and grabbed the ropes of the bridge. She then flew over and tied the ropes to the other end.

"Rainbow…" a voice called to the pegasus mare.

"Who's there?" Rainbow looked around.

"Rainbow…" the voice called again.

"I ain't scared of you. Show yourself!" Rainbow challenged, punching the air.

"We've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the best flyer in all of Equestria," the voice said.

"Who?" Rainbow questioned.

"Why, you, of course," the voice replied.

"Really?! I mean… oh yeah, me! Hey, uh, you wouldn't mind tell the Wonderbolts that, would ya? 'Cause I've been trying to get into that group for, like, ever!" Rainbow Dash told them.

"No, Rainbow Dash, we want you to join us…" three ponies, two stallions and a mare in the middle, came out of the fog, skidding to a halt, "The Shadowbolts!" the mare said proudly, "We're the greatest aerial team in the Everfree Forest. Soon we will be the greatest in all Equestria!" the mare proclaimed, "But first, we need a captain," she said.

Rainbow Dash grinned upon hearing that.

"The most magnificent…"

"Yep"

"Swiftest…"

"Yes"

"Bravest flier in all the land!"

"Yes, yes, it's all true," Rainbow boasted.

"We need… you" the mare whispered that last word closely into Rainbow's ear.

"Woo hoo! Sign me up!" Rainbow cheered, "Just let me tie this bridge and we have a deal."

"No!" the shadowbolt mare stopped her, "It's them or us!"

"Dude, Rainbow, what the hell's taking so long?" Shadow Storm called from the other side.

The eyes of the Shadowbolt mare glowed, making the fog block up the rest of the bridge.

"Well?" the mare looked at Rainbow Dash.

There was a brief pause.

"You…" Rainbow spoke, "Thank you, for the offer, I mean," she said before going back to the bridge, "But… I'm afraid I have to say no," she told them then flew back to the others.

"Good job, Rainbow," Shadow smiled at her.

"Hey, you know I'd never leave my friends hanging," Rainbow said, bumping fists with the stallion.

"You!" the Shadowbolt mare appeared along with the stallions, "You dare turn your nose at our offer?!" she yelled.

"My friends are more important," Rainbow Dash replied with a serious expression, the Shadowbolts growling at her response.

"Alright, looks like I'm up," Shadow spoke, stepping forward.

"Huh?" everypony looked at the stallion.

"Everypony else did something important…" Shadow started, then looked over his shoulder at the mares, "Now it's my turn," he smirked, a surge of lightning showing in his eyes.

The girls all stared at him in silence, their mouths agape.

Shadow clenched his fists, cloaking them in electricity. The stallion spread his wings and, in a quick burst, shot towards the Shadowbolts. Before any of them could register what was happening, the mare of the trio felt a punch to her face that sent her to the ground on the other side. The mare twitched and flailed on the ground, lightning paralyzing her body.

Shadow raised his arm, blocking simultaneous hits from both stallions. He threw his arms out with a shout, sending out bolts of lightning that pushed them back several feet. Shadow flew to the stallion on the right. Charging his leg with electricity, he gave the stallion a kick to the jaw, sending him crashing right next to the downed mare. He then quickly flew over to the other stallion, charging his fists with electricity once more before delivering a double axe handle to the stallion's back, the third pony joining his comrades on the ground.

The three ponies transformed into wisps of dark smoke and flew off. Due to the fog though, no pony saw this. Shadow then descended in front of the girls, the fog immediately clearing up.

"Ok, now we can get the Elements and defeat Nightmare Moon," Shadow corrected. He looked at surprised expression the girls were giving, "What?"

"What the hell was that?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"You just generated lightning and shot it from your body!" Twilight said.

"Uh, yeah. I told you I'm no ordinary pony," Shadow shrugged, "I'll explain later. For now, let's just get this done," he said as he walked along the bridge.

The girls then soon followed him into the ruins. When they entered, there was a large pedestal containing five large stone orbs, each with a different shape embossed on it.

"Come on, Twilight. Isn't this what you've been waiting for?" AJ asked as Twilight stepped forward.

"The Elements of Harmony. We found them!" Twilight said.

Shadow, Rainbow and Fluttershy flew up and retrieved each of the Elements, placing them gently only the floor in a circle. There were only five though.

"Where's the sixth?" Rainbow questioned.

"When the five are present, a spark will cause the sixth element to be revealed," Shadow informed them.

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" AJ asked.

"Hmm…" Shadow rubbed his chin, "Twilight, try using your magic," he looked at the unicorn mare.

The unicorn mare nodded and focused her magic on the elements. While she was doing that, Shadow looked at the pedestal and noticed something lying in front of it. Approaching the item, he saw what appeared to be a shield. It had five gemstones arranged in a circle with a large, six-pointed star in the center. Like the Elements of Harmony, it too appeared to be made of stone. Out of curiosity, Shadow took the shield into his hands. It was like… it called to him.

Suddenly, a purple mist scooped up the Elements, raising them off the ground in a small vortex, surprising Twilight.

"The Elements!" Twilight shouted then hopped into the vortex which vanished, taking her along with the Elements of Harmony.

"Twilight!" everypony else said in unison.

"Look!" Rarity pointed outside where lights were flashing from the windows of another part of the ruins.

"Come on, guys!" Shadow said, the girls following him as they ran out, the stallion still holding the shield.

Twilight appeared in another part of the ruins. She looked up and gasped, seeing Nightmare Moon with the Elements of Harmony. The dark alicorn laughed, lightning striking around her. Twilight dragged her hoof back and forth, as if preparing to fight.

"You're kidding. You're kidding, right?" Nightmare Moon asked, not taking the unicorn seriously.

Twilight lit her horn with magic and charged at Nightmare Moon while at the same time Nightmare Moon charged back. The light of Twilight's horn grew brighter. The two mares were about to clash, only for Twilight to disappear, surprising Nightmare Moon. The alicorn mare looked back at Twilight.

"Just one spark… come on, come on…" Twilight muttered as she channeled magic into the Elements.

Nightmare Moon teleported in front of Twilight, sending her back several feet.

"No… no…" Nightmare Moon started, only for the so-called spark from the Elements to fade.

"But… where's the sixth Element?" Twilight asked in disbelief.

Nightmare Moon laughed evil and stomped her hoof, shattering the Elements to pieces.

"You little fool, thinking you could defeat me!" Nightmare Moon mocked, "Now you will never see your princess or your sun. The night… will last… forever!" she said, laughing evilly.

"Hang on, Twilight! We're coming!" Twilight suddenly heard Shadow's voice, along with the voices of the girls. This made the unicorn mare gasp in realization.

"You think you can destroy the Elements of Harmony, just like that?" Twilight looked at the dark alicorn, "Well, you're wrong. Because the spirits of the Elements of Harmony… are right here!" she said, she and the girls standing together.

The shattered Elements then floated with magic.

"What?" Nightmare Moon looked on with surprise and confusion.

"Applejack, who reassured me when I was in doubt, represents the spirit of… Honesty!" Twilight said.

One of the shattered elements surrounded AJ's neck.

"Fluttershy, who tamed the manticore with her compassion, represents the spirit of… Kindness!" Twilight said.

One of the shattered elements surrounded Fluttershy's neck.

"Pinkie Pie, who banished fear by giggling in the face of danger, represents the spirit of… Laughter!" Twilight said.

One of the shattered elements surrounded Pinkie Pie's neck.

"Rarity, who calmed the sorrowful serpent with a meaningful gift, represents the spirit of… Generosity!" Twilight said.

One of the shattered elements surrounded Rarity's neck.

"And Rainbow Dash, who could not abandon her friends for her own heart's desire, represents the spirit of… Loyalty!" Twilight said.

The final shattered element surrounded Rainbow Dash's neck.

"The spirits of these five ponies got us through every challenge you threw at us," Twilight told Nightmare Moon.

"You still don't have the sixth element. The spark didn't work!" Nightmare Moon said.

"But it did. A different kind of spark," Twilight replied, "I felt it the very moment I realized how happy I was to hear you, to see you, how much I cared about you," she told the girls, "The spark ignited inside of me when I realized that you all… are my friends!"

The moment Twilight said that, a ball of light appeared, floating down in front of her neck.

"You see, Nightmare Moon, when the Elements are ignited by the… the spark that resides in the heart of us all, it creates the sixth element. The element of… Magic!" Twilight said, the sixth element glowing brighter.

The elements then reformed, transforming into golden necklaces around the girls' necks, each having a different colored gemstone in the shape of the holder's cutie mark. The Elements of Harmony glowed… only for that glow to quickly vanish. The Elements didn't work… again.

"What?! But we have all six Elements of Harmony this time!" Twilight said in disbelief, Nightmare Moon laughing to her dismay.

"So much for the Elements of Harmony. Now…" Nightmare Moon pointed her horn at the six mares, lighting it up with magic, "It's time to an end to this."

Shadow gasped as the magic of Nightmare Moon's horn grew.

"NO!" Shadow shouted, flying towards the girl the moment Nightmare Moon shot a powerful beam from her horn.

There was an explosion upon impact. When the smoke cleared, Nightmare Moon's eyes widened.

"What?!" the dark alicorn looked on confusion.

There stood Shadow, the girls standing behind him with not a scratch on any of them.

"Wow, that's some shield…" Shadow said, looking at the protective item.

"You…" Nightmare Moon glared at the stallion, "Who ARE you?"

"I'm Shadow Storm, the wielder of…" Shadow looked at the shield, noticing the gems on it were similar to that of the ones of the Elements of Harmony (before they shattered and became necklaces). Shadow smirked, "The Shield of Harmony!"

Three of the girls stood on Shadow's left while the other three stood his right. From the outward in, the girl placed their hands on each other's shoulders, the two closest to Shadow placing their hands on his shoulders. The Elements of Harmony glowed once again, this time the energy flowing from their wielders towards the Shield of Harmony.

In flash of rainbow light, the shield had changed from stone to metal. It was now white with golden accents. The gems on it turned into the same colors as the ones of Elements of Harmony, including the six-pointed star in the center. The gem on the shield then glowed, the star in the center glowing last. A huge rainbow energy beam shot from the shield.

"NO!" Nightmare Moon screamed as she was engulfed in the energy blast.

Shadow opened his eyes when glowed with white light. There was flash of light. When the light dissipated, the seven ponies were lying on the floor.

"Ugh. My head…" Rainbow groaned, rubbing the side as she stood up.

"Everypony ok?" AJ asked as she and the others stood up.

"Oh, thank goodness!" Rarity said, her tail having returned to it normal state.

"Why, Rarity, it's so lovely," Fluttershy commented.

"I know. I'll never part with it again!" Rarity said, hugging her tail.

"No, you're necklace. It looks just like your cutie mark," Fluttershy pointed out.

"So does yours," Rarity replied.

Each of the Element symbols took the shape of the wielder's cutie mark. Even Twilight's.

"Gee, Twilight, I thought you were just spouting a lot of hooey. But I reckon we really do represent the elements of friendship," AJ said.

"Indeed, you do," a voice said, a flash of golden light filling the room as the sun rose.

When the light disappeared, there stood a tall, white alicorn with a flowing ethereal-like mane and tail of pink, blue, cyan and green. She wore a strapless yellow corset that showed the top of her chest. The skirt of the dress was short in the front and long and frilly in the back, stopping at the back of the knees. She wore golden bracers with purple gemstones in the center on her arms, matching golden lace-up sandals on her hooves, and a large golden grown perched on her head behind her long horn. She was the ruler of all Equestria.

"Princess Celestia!" Twilight approached the princess.

"Twilight Sparkle, my faithful student," Princess Celestia bent over and hugged the unicorn mare, nuzzling her a little.

"Long time no see, Celestia," Shadow approached the princess as well.

"Hello, my little Shadow," Celestia hugged the stallion as well.

Unlike with Twilight though, Celestia had hugged Shadow to her chest, almost burying his face in her cleavage. A second later, the hug was broken.

"I knew you two could do it," Celestia smiled.

"But… you told me it was all an old pony's tale," Twilight said.

"I told you that you need to make some friends. Nothing more," Celestia told her, "I saw the signs of Nightmare Moon's return and I knew it was you who had the magic inside to defeat her."

"Wait, the mayor assigned me to meet up with the representative from Canterlot, and the representative turned out to be Twilight. Did you plan that?" Shadow asked curiously.

"I might have some influence in that," Celestia said vaguely, "I knew you would have the power to help Twilight and wield the Shield of Harmony," she told him, "But you could not unleash the power until you let true friendship into your heart," she said, more specifically to Twilight.

Twilight and Shadow smiled at the girls.

"Now if only another will as well…" Celestia muttered, the seven ponies looking at her.

Where Nightmare Moon had stood was now a smaller alicorn, one small than Celestia. She was dark blue with a light blue mane and tail. She was taller than girls but shorter than Celestia. She wore an outfit similar to Celestia's, except black with silver trims.

"Princess Luna…" Celestia called to the smaller alicorn who gasped as her eyes shot open.

"So, that's the Princess of the Night," Shadow said with a tilt of his head.

"It has been a thousand years since I have seen you like this…" Celestia approached her, getting on her knees with the smaller princess, "Time to put our differences behind us. We were meant to rule together, little sister."

"Sister?" Twilight and Rainbow repeated, surprised.

"Did you seriously not know?" Shadow looked at them with a raised eyebrow.

"Will you accept my friendship?" Celestia asked her sister.

There was paused. Everypony leaned forward, waiting for Luna's response… except for Pinkie Pie, who ended up falling over.

"I'm so sorry!" Luna ran up to Celestia, hugging her, "I missed you so much, big sister," she said, tears in her eyes as she nuzzled her sister under her chin.

Celestia sighed with content, "I've missed you, too," she replied, tears in her eyes as well.

"Well, this is a touching little family reunion," Shadow smiled.

Pinkie Pie burst into tears, only to immediately stop when idea hit her.

"Hey! You know what this calls for?" the pink pony said.

Ponyville…

"A PARTY!" Pinkie shouted.

Everypony cheered, confetti and streamers everywhere. Celestia and Luna were even there. Luna did have a look of guilt, until a pair of foals put a necklace made of flowers around her neck which made her smile as she looked at her sister.

Twilight looked down, almost sad.

"What's wrong, Twi?" Shadow asked, noticing her expression.

"Yes, are you not happy that your quest is complete and that you can return to your studies in Canterlot?" Celestia asked.

"That's just it," Twilight spoke, "Just when I learned how wonderful it is to have friends… I have to leave them."

The was small pause.

"Spike, take a note, please," Celestia spoke, Spike taking out a pen and a piece of paper, "I, Princess Celestia, hereby decree that the unicorn, Twilight Sparkle, shall take on a new mission for Equestria. She must continue to study the magic of friendship. She must report to me all of her findings from her new home in Ponyville!" she said.

The girls cheered as they surrounded Twilight.

"Oh, thank you, Princess Celestia. I'll study harder than ever before!" Twilight said, everypony cheering.

Shadow chuckled then felt a hand on a shoulder. He looked up at Celestia who then bent over to his eye level.

"Do me a favor, Shadow. Take care of Twilight, will you? She hasn't socialized much, so I'm counting on you to look out for her and help her out a bit," Celestia whispered to the stallion.

"Don't worry, Celestia, I've got Twilight's back," Shadow whispered back, giving her a reassuring wink.

Celestia nodded then walked off to join the festivities.

"So, Shadow Storm," Twilight walked up to the stallion, "Looks like we'll be seeing each other more often now."

"Yeah, it'll be great to catch up," Shadow said.

"You said earlier that you're no ordinary pony. After what we just went through, I kind of see what you mean. What kind of pony are you anyway?" Twilight asked, looking at him curiously.

"Well, Twilight, I'm what's called…" Shadow lifted his hand, lightning surging around it as well in his eyes, "A thunder pony."

That's the end of chapter 2. I had some help with chapter thanks to IrishKatana. I'm going to say this right now, I'm not going to rewrite every single episode in the series. That's a pain in the ass. Some chapters will be original chapters, some will be rewrites of episodes, and some will be a mix where it's an adventure going on at the same time as an actual episode. But I'm not going to rewrite every single episode.

So, in this universe, the Element of Magic is a necklace like the others instead of a crown/tiara. Instead of having my OC be the seventh Element of Harmony, I had him be the wielder of the Shield of Harmony which, in this universe, acts act like a conduit for the Elements to use their power.

That being said, Twilight's still the leader of the group.

If you have ideas for the next chapter or future chapters, say it in a review or feel free to message me.
