Pairings To Be Decided
No Magic!
Thanks to the incredible writers Son of Caliban to whom I say "REPENT! FOR TOMORROW YOU DIE!" I joke of course, but I am more of a Sanguinis guy myself. I recommend you read his 'From the Joy, Comes the Pain, From the Pain, Comes the Joy.'
Another writer I wish to credit is darkfire1220 and a urge people to read Viridescent. Just want to say thanks for his permission to use some of Quirk ideas.
I own nothing apart from part of this idea…I believe I've credited everyone; if not message me and I'll include in the Footnotes or this dribble dravel
Chapter I
Aizawa Shota moved softly through the family apartment, on ghostly feet. It was nearly 6am, the most annoying part of the day for the Nocturnal Hero. He set the kettle onto boil and pulled out Sunday's dinner. His thoughts drifted to how the past 11 years had changed his life.
11 Years Ago had brought him and Yamada Hizashi, Aizawas cousin. A little girl by the name Hailey Potter; possessing an equally dangerous quirk. Her quirk 'removal' was the same as his own 'erasure', although it was very apparent that in some aspects 'removal' was more dangerous than his own 'erasure'.
Aizawa shook his head of such thoughts, the letter box thudded open as the morning mail arrived. As he stood up, the unmistakable sound of guitar music came from the second bedroom. Followed by distinctively muttered 'fecking alarm clock' and 'damn it Uncle Loader, for creating an alarm clock I can't remove'. The door opened and Hailey Potter-Aizawa stumbled out. Her hair a shaggy black mess that hung partially over her face, her eyes bright green but currently muted due to sleep particles, clad in black pajama pants and black shirt with a pair of red-eyes with the caption of 'Erase this'. Like her guardian, her dubag, a duvet that could double as a sleeping bag was resting near her door.
"Morning."
"Morning."
That was the morning routine, Hailey made her way to the kitchen island table and grabbed a cat-themed mug; her own, one she had made when she was eight. It too was black, but this one looked like Aizawa only as a cat. The tea warmed her mouth and throat, Shota waited and then the sound of cartilage displacing echoed around the apartment.
Shota and Hailey weren't communicators in the morning, him coming off patrol and winding down and her due to school. "Last week isn't it?"
"Something like that. Then I intend to spend my time out of school training."
Shota grinned at her "I'll devise a timetable, so you'll be able to do your other hobbies as well."
"Thanks, papa." Shota grinned to himself, in a relationship with Present Mic aka Yamada Hizashi and raised a daughter, who turned out alright. They weren't gamers or tv enthusiasts but rather had themselves other hobbies. Both of them enjoyed activities that could easily be transferred to heroics; hiking, rock-climbing and abseiling could transfer to mountain rescue, swimming. Hailey was due to one of her closest friends at school, Jiro Kyoka had become a musician. Hailey had always been interested in music, it was hard not to be, when your other guardian was the Voice Hero: Present Mic. Hailey was skilled on the violin and ukulele but her best instrument was a guitar. Kyoka was hands down better than her on the bass but Hailey was gifted on rhythm and lead.
Shota and Hizashi along with Kyoka's parents had caught the teens on more than one occasion using Kyoka's garage/studio when they should have been studying. They had been proven wrong when the girls exam results and homework grades increased. "Going to be spending time Jiro?"
Hailey paused "Potentially. She's trying to get into UA as well."
"I could help…"
"Isn't that…"
"No it's not cheating, in fact I would expect anyone with hero relatives would be helping improve their skillset…It would be cheating if I recommended you, if you want that is?"
"NO! Papa, I don't want any assurances. I want in on my own results."
Shota grinned and hugged his daughter "I know kitten. It is merely an option…Anyway don't you have school to get to? Leave your phone at home missy!"
"Fuck. Bugger. That's two yen for the swear jar." Hailey said as she got dressed, she dropped the yen on the table which was swiftly put in the jar. However, the jar only just took the yen "We might need another jar."
"I'll message Hizashi. Scram."
Hailey made it school in plenty of time. Enough time even to grab a second breakfast and get to school on time. Sure enough, she wasn't waiting long as Kyoka arrived moments later. "Morning."
"Morning, thank everything it's the last week." Kyoka groused.
"That is true…Got any plans for the gap between here and UA?"
"Do some training of some sort and holiday, Hailey…why?"
Hailey looked sheepish "I'm going to be training rather consistently and wanted to offer you the chance to join in."
Kyoka's eyes widened "Really…who'd be training us? Your parents? You said they were teachers."
Hailey grinned a toothy grin "I may not have fully disclosed where they teach…Anyway, papa suggested this, I was going to ask you anyway."
Kyoka looked at her "Your parents are fine with training the pair of us?"
"Yup…Come on we're going to be late." Hailey replied practically dragging Kyoka to homeroom.
Thankfully, they arrived just minutes before their teacher. "Potter, Kyoka…glad you could join us. Now you're all Third Years, you have your Highschool selection."
"Ain't Jiro applying for UA!" Shouted one student.
"It's not like she's gonna get in, her quirks useless!" Someone jeered.
"I'm applying for UA, as well." Hailey said.
"YOU! You're quirkless! You'll be crushed…"
"Hayabusa…shut…your trap. I have a quirk and as for why I've never shown it…well, I'll show it now." Everyone turned, Hailey, for all her strengths could never keep all her hair in her ponytail so some it framed covered her face. Her quirk factor was concentrated all over her body, meaning with enough time she could become a powerful hero. But for now the majority of it was located in her eyes, hands, elbows, knees and feet. Her eyes took on red glow and she looked straight at Hayabusa, who was able to manipulate his bones. "Try your quirk, Hayabusa."
"Er…er…it's not working! I can't use my quirk! What the fuck is up with you? What the fuck is up with your eyes you stupid bitch!" Hayabusa screamed as he tried to clamber away from her.
"It's simple…I've shut it down…Now here's what else my quirk can do." With that she placed her hand on his very fancy pen, not breaking eye-contact, Hayabusa saw her eyes momentarily flash orange and he watched in horror as his pen turned to dust.
Hailey turned off her quirk, staggered backwards. Kyoka was already moving, she'd jumped in front of Hailey "Hailey, listen to me…just move backwards five shuffle-steps. You'll be near my seat. Then sit back. You told me using your full quirk causes splitting migraines and dry-eye, where's your eye-drops?"
"Bag. Front pouch, internal backwards Velcro pocket. In there."
Kyoka just had to catch the rucksack that was borderline impractical. She grinned, Mr. Hizashi was rather…scattered and when shopping tended to forget things and so Hailey was more often than not asked pick up extra stuff on the way home. She'd then asked for a much bigger schoolbag, this was the thing she had received for her second year. She reached inside and found the eyedrops and three juice pouches.
The bag contained so many pockets, pouches, concealed pouches and double sided-pouches where it was two pockets stitched together back-to-back. "Open an eye." Two drops. "The other." Two more drops.
Hailey closed her eyes and opened them, revealing two blood shot eyes "I'll be getting in. Due to the heroes my parents work with…it's the most logical and rational thing for heroes with agencies to do. For sidekicks and their business team along with legal team the easiest thing for them to do is help out. I'll probably be getting a recommendation letter, I've told them I don't want one but I'm still probably going to get one."
That stopped everyone. Kyoka knew that Hailey was pulling a white-lie and a very convincing one. Eventually the teacher got the class under control; most of the teachers for the rest of the week were giving them time to do other things. Such as designing prototype hero costumes and filling in High School application forms.
Eventually the end of the week came, all the third years were on the stage, looking out over the crowd. At the back of the hall near the doors, Hailey saw were her parents both dressed in suit jackets and trousers with Shota's hair tied up neatly in a bun, the same with Hizashi. Hailey and Kyoka tuned out of the ramblings and soon enough they were dispersed to their families.
"Mr. Kyoka, Mrs. Kyoka…I've heard from my daughter that your daughter wants to become a hero?" Shota asked, after pleasantries had been exchanged.
"She has. Who are you exactly? Why bring it up here and now?" Asked Kyotoku curiously with a slight edge to his tone.
"My apologies. I'm Shota Aizawa, I'm a teacher at UA and I'm offering to train your daughter alongside mine so they can both become heroes."
Kyotoku and Mika looked Jiro "Are you…"
Jiro nodded "I am. I've not been surer of anything…"
Kyotoku nodded and hugged Jiro "We understand. We want you to be happy, and music makes people happy as do heroes…Have faith in your skills, learn everything you can and your mother and I could then say 'Our daughter Kyoka Jiro is a Hero'. Now that's a concept album."
"Jiro, go home and grab enough of your wardrobe for a month. It's going to be easier for you to stay with us. As you have done before."
Jiro grinned "I cannot wait."
Hailey chuckled slightly as did Shota. "It's been a pleasure seeing you all again." Hizashi contributed and with that the six headed their separate ways.
