Chapter 1

'HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT! YOU DON'T KNOW A THING ABOUT ME!'

Hiccup was panting, the palm of his right hand and both his eyes completely red. Although it looked as if he had calmed down a bit after that hit, his anger was still clearly visible in his eyes.

Jack reached with his hand to his left cheek, where the mark of Hiccup's hand was still visible. It stung- no it even throbbed a little; an unexpected hard slap for such a scrawny kid.

He then looked at the ground where a clay container lay shattered, the content spread all over the floor, including over Jack's bare feet. Ow man, what a waste of ale. He thought while lifting his left feet slightly to observe the beverage drip with a near constant tempo.

Hiccup's outburst didn't go unnoticed. The entire Great Hall, which consisted of the villagers dining and talking, had become quiet and everyone was looking in their direction, curious as to what happened that made Hiccup so mad that said peace lover had actually hit someone.

He slapped me. Jack raised his head again and glared at the fuming viking standing before him, his thoughts racing sluggishly. He actually slapped ME. How DARE he slap me!

Jack heard a low and booming voice behind him which he knew belonged to Stoick, but he was already far too mad to care, only concentrating on the teen before him.

The winter sprite drew his hands into fists as he took a unsteady step forward. 'WHAT THE HELL HICCUP! WHAT DID YOU DO THAT FOR?! WHAT DID I DO TO–' 'OH SHUT UP!' Hiccup yelled back and before Jack could resume his sentence, the teen viking was already running toward the doors of the Great Hall with full speed, easily carving himself a way through the crowd of confused villagers.

Jack almost immediately set in the pursuit, but Hiccup was smaller than he was and Jack is not used to running in a crowd of people, preferring to fly over them instead. So by the time Jack reached the exit, Hiccup was already sitting on Toothless' back and ready to take off into the sky.

'HICCUP DON'T WALK – FLY – AWAY WHEN I'M-!' Jack yelled, but by the time he reached the duo, they were already airborne.

'WIND!' Jack started calling for his trusted companion. He felt the northern winds tensely swirling around him and the winter sprite had every intention of using her to drag Hiccup back to the ground again – dragon and all.

He hesitated a moment.

'…ugh nevermind.' The wind quickly dispersed again in relief.

Pfff, like I care. I didn't even do anything wrong and he slaps me right in the face and then flies away! Jack thought as he was walking in circles, hitting some unfortunate rocks who were in his way with his bare feet. He winced as his intoxicated brain registered the pain with a slight delay. Well, he can just stay by himself then, I don't care anymore.

Jack turned around and started walking back to the Great Hall when he saw Stoick rush out.

'Jokul, what happened? Where's Hiccup?', he asked. God I am NOT in the mood for this.

'Don't call me that! my name is Jack.' The immortal teen said slightly irritated. 'As for Hiccup, the brat flew away with Toothless'. Jack waved nonchalantly to the west while walking away from the distressed father.

'And my other question?' Stoick urged.

'Go ask Hiccup, I don't care anymore.' and with that, Jack flew away in the direction of the lake, leaving Stoick alone with his thoughts.

He landed on a tree branch near the lake and before he let himself drop to the ground, he stopped and unconsciously looked wards the west. When he noticed his action however, the winter sprite quickly heaved his nose up in the air and jumped off the branch, walking further into the eerie green forest which he temporarily calls his home. His head started throbbing, so he quickly approached a pile of leaves and went straight to sleep.

Urgh. I hope it won't become a hangover tomorrow. Jack thought as he drifted away.

'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!' Hiccup's frustrated scream filled the dark, cold air around him as he let out all his anger and frustration with as much power as his lungs could muster, gripping the saddle until his knuckles became white.

He then spread my arms while falling down on the saddle, feeling Toothless' strong muscles shifting underneath his back with every flap of the night fury's wings. Here at least, Jack can't come after me. He thought as he breathed in the much needed fresh air of freedom. His rant was far from over however.

'CAN YOU BELIEVE WHAT HE SAID TOOTHLESS?! WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS, ACTING LIKE THAT!'

Toothless gave a small growl as he adjusted his tail fin to make a curve to the left, heading westwards towards Raven Point.

'WHAT A JERK! EVEN IF HE WAS A LITTLE DRUNK... okay, so maybe he didn't really know what he was doing... BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN HE CAN JUST FLIRT WITH ASTRID AND THEN BRUSH IT OFF AS IF IT WAS NOTHING!'

Well, it's not like Astrid and I are in that kind of a relationship or something, so it shouldn't matter so much if he takes an interest in her. But to say it's all right because he wants to have a little fun too... that is just taking it to far! He knows damn well I have feelings for her! Freaking IDIOT!

As Hiccup's internal turmoil went on, he didn't notice Toothless lean to the side until Hiccup felt his weight on the saddle decrease. Instinctively he flailed his arms around, reaching for something he can grab to stop himself from plummeting to his possible death.

His hand was only inches away from the edge of the saddle when gravity worked full-force and dragged the little viking down towards the ground. Hiccup looked towards Toothless' face in pure panic and saw him looking back, totally relaxed.

He felt his back connect with a soft patch of grass not two seconds later.

Thor almighty what did you do that for?!' Hiccup's voice was still slightly laced with panic as he quickly sat up straight and rubbed his back with both hands. Toothless answered by letting out a sound that resembled that of laughter. The dragon then curled himself up around his owner and made himself comfortable.

Hiccup relaxed, letting out a giant sigh as he closed his eyes and enjoyed the peaceful and quiet sounds the woods had to offer him.

They stayed like this for a while, listening to the rustling of the flora and the quiet sounds of the fauna surrounding them.

Suddenly, Hiccup felt the winds change. Toothless stirred and abruptly stood up, teeth bared and growling low as he was peering through the darkened woods upwind. The teen stood up too, being under the intention that they were not alone. He was not disappointed.

'Well well, what do we 'ave here? If it ain't Stoick's little embarrassment!'

Hiccup could recognize that voice and accent anywhere and he didn't like it one bit.

'Alvin.' Hiccup pressed his back lightly against Toothless as he scanned his surroundings, glad to feel the dragon's presence while he was searching for the Outcast nut case. 'Didn't expect you to be here, being exiled and all you know.' Hiccup said in his most sarcastic voice.

'You know me 'iccup, I just ain't good at givin' up.'

The forest air was suddenly filled with the battle cries of multiple Outcasts. Hiccup turned around in the direction of the noise to see a bunch of broad shadows running towards them, axes in hand. Toothless also took notice of the cluster of Vikings heading their way and Hiccup heard a shriek as Toothless prepared a plasma blast.

The temporary light coming from his friend's mouth lit up the forest around them and Hiccup could make up the faces off their assailants, including Alvin's.

Toothless released his blast towards the approaching vikings.

'And of course you brought your lackeys with you. Can't you think of something more original than to attack me when I'm in a dark and secluded forest?' Hiccup theatrically rolled his eyes and then focused his gaze on the shadow that he knew was Alvin.

Suddenly, Alvin started laughing maliciously and Hiccup noticed a small movement in the corner of his eyes. He recognised the shape of the object as the bola was closing in on him with great speed.

Hiccup was propelled backwards away from Toothless as the rope from the bola twisted around his frame, pinning his limbs to his torso and entangling him. He felt a sharp pain on the back of his head as it hit the ground and suddenly felt very light-headed, his vision quickly becoming blurry and blackness creeping in from the edges.

Hiccup saw Toothless running towards him, roaring in worry and completely distracted from his fight. 'Toothless... watch... out...' Hiccup said weakly before his vision became totally black as he fell into unconsciousness.

Jack...

Here you go: action, like promised.

I hope I didn't write it too cheesy and sorry if the accent isn't convincing.

I wonder what's gonna happen to Hiccup next *evil laugh*
