Today would be absolutely horrible.

Jaune thought as he did pushups outside the Manor, the sun hadn't even shown itself and he already felt like death, muscles he didn't even know existed burning. He had done what felt like a hundred different exercises before this and this was his last set before he was finally done.

Jaune then promptly collapsed onto the ground, letting out a relieved breath for finally completing the forty pushups his father had told him to do.

The ground had never been so comfortable.

Jaune was currently wearing some a simple pair of black shorts, a white T-shirt and a pair of running shoes. His father wearing black running shorts and a black tank top that struggled to fit over his large and muscled frame, running boots –Jaune didn't know those existed– and a black headband that his father wears because he thinks it looks good.

Alexander hadn't noticed that the black headband wasn't even visible underneath his hair.

"We're not done yet Jaune." Alexander declared with amusement, getting up from the log he had been sitting on and making his way over to a shed that was in the trees. Jaune groaned before sitting up, looking over to where his father went and saw him digging around in the shed.

As his father dug in the shed, Jaune wondered if the training would get harder or would get easier as time goes by.

"I swear I put them here…Aha!" Alexander grumbled before pulling out a few wooden training swords and a few wooden heater shields, feeling nostalgic as he looked at the training swords and shields.

"Um, what are we gonna do with a bunch of toy swords?" Jaune asked as he painstakingly got up, groaning and swaying a bit before walking over.

"You want to wield Crocea Mors right?" Alexander asked as kicked the shed door shut, and dumped the training swords and shield onto the ground with a loud crash. Jaune took a step back, startled at how the ground cracked.

"Y-yeah, how did you know?" Jaune asked in a slightly anxious tone, wondering how wooden swords were heavy enough to crack the ground.

"I didn't, I just guessed." Alexander answered while picking up a sword and giving it a swing.

"O-oh." Jaune said quite intelligently, slightly underwhelmed at the answer as he picked one up.

Jaune's eyes widened at the weight of the blade, not expecting a wooden sword to be so heavy and stumbling forward slightly. He did not remember the sticks he used to swing around as a child being this heavy.

"Uh, is this wooden swords really heavy or am I just really weak?" Jaune asked, sticking it into the ground and leaning on it, feeling quite cool as he did so.

"These swords are made of a special type of wood that's very dense, and they're going to prepare you for Crocea Mors since it weighs a lot more than these." Alexander explained, picking up a wooden shield and handing it to Jaune, who almost falls down at the weight.

"C-Crocea Mors is heavier?!" Jaune asked loudly, wondering how he'd be able to use it if he was barely able to lift these training weapons.

Alexander chuckled, remembering when he had barely been able to swing around his own weapon, Ustrina Mors.

Ustrina Mors was a sword and shield that would combine into a two handed axe, the shield's edges being sharpened and lined with Fire Dust. The shield was the axe's head and would spew huge swathes of fire when it was swung in its axe form. Alexander loved his weapon as much as he loved his wife and took it with him everywhere. Even the shower.

"Yes, much heavier in fact. But don't worry, we'll prepare you for it…that's a promise" Alexander said with a grin as he looked at the sun just beginning to break from behind a few mountains, painting the sky in a beautiful shade of orange. The clouds slowly moved across the sky, angling just right so that a ray of light shined onto Alexander and Jaune as if a spotlight was shining onto them.

"And an Arc never breaks their promises."

Galore Arc was busy.

Galore Arc was a woman who had golden blonde hair that was quite long, coming down to her hips and looked quite youthful for her age, always wearing her favorite golden necklace –A gift that Alexander had gotten her– , her eyes being a lighter shade of green. She was tall for a woman but only came up to her husband's neck, Jaune almost being as tall as her but it wasn't noticeable because of Jaune's slouch. She enforced her rule of no swearing quite strictly.

Even after Galore retired from being a Huntress to live a peaceful life with her family, she had to take care of her slowly growing family. But even if she was exhausted by the end of the day she still wouldn't trade her family for the world, she loved her entire family even if they were slightly destructive. She had to make enough food for twenty people because of her family's voracious appetite, all of them being Huntresses and Huntsman, therefore requiring much more food than the average person.

An Arc loved their food after all.

As she made them a breakfast that could feed a school, she could slowly hear her family coming in.

Galore heard grumbling about how combat schools started way too early, probably Julia and her younger sisters -They all weren't morning people besides a few exceptions- and laughing, probably Joy, mischievous little devil she was. Then there was some babbling, Lily probably having a conversation despite nobody being able to understand her.

She then heard exhausted breathing and the clattering of someone collapsing into their chair, and amused chuckling coming from a masculine voice that was definitely her husband.

"Jaune, why do you look like you died and came back to life?" A voice that was mostly amused but slightly worried asked, probably Joy. Sometimes it was hard to know who was who when she couldn't see them.

"Because I did." Jaune snarked, his sisters giggling in response.

"Let off the poor boy, you girls wouldn't believe how much you complained on your first day of training." Galore said with a smile as she finished, all the girls except Joy going silent in defeat.

"No we didn't!" Joy's voice yelled out.

"But you did, a lot." Julia pointed out in a tone that indicated she was stating a fact.

"Okay, maybe I complained a-"

"You wouldn't shut up about how everything hurt and how you wouldn't be able to walk for days, and it wasn't even serious training since you were too young for that." Ellie, her voice being much easier to recognize due to how much older she was, said in a deadpan voice.

Joy harrumphed.

Jaune laughed.

Jaune's laugh transitioned into a cry of pain before he started to laugh even harder.

And this was why Galore loved her family so much, these little moments that could make you smile so wide your cheeks start to hurt.

"Alright that's enough, breakfast is almost ready and we don't want you to maul Jaune before he gets his fill, do we now Joy?" Alexander said with a chuckle and the table quietened down significantly as Galore started to lay everything out on the extremely long table they sat on.

Some may have called refused to call this breakfast, because of how heavy it was and how it was so meat heavy, but in Galore's humble opinion, they were only civilians who were nothing but skin and bones who couldn't stomach a single of her pancakes.

A huge pile of turkey sausages that were browned to perfection, stacks of fatty bacon, several platters of eggs that were cooked sunny side up. Soft and fluffy pancakes covered in jam rather than syrup –Arcs being allergic to most syrups– and top it all off, vegetables, seared and seasoned to perfection.

As Galore sat down next to her husband and practically melted into him, she couldn't help but notice how much Jaune was eating, seeming to put some of everything into his plate and devour it all in huge bites. Now usually Jaune didn't eat very much since he didn't have much physical activity besides dancing, but now he seemed to eat like it was his last day on earth.

"Slow down Jaune, it's not like your foods gonna run away from you." Galore called out, Jaune seeming to barely hear her, taking a moment to process what she said before slowing down a bit. He still was eating like a swine though.

"And eat properly, we may not be the Schnees but we need to have some table manners." Galore said loudly to everyone in general, the entire table going silent. Even her husband pausing with a few slices of bacon hanging from his mouth that he slurped up like noodles, Galore inwardly smiling at the sight.

Everyone started eating more quietly and tidily, actually chewing with their mouths closed and eating at a pace that wouldn't make them throw up.

After everyone had finished eating most of the Arc's got ready for combat school, except Saphron who was the only one who was planning on being something that wasn't a Huntsman. Saphron wanted to be a lawyer, and was already aiming to go to law school. Sadly Saphron didn't like how crowded the Manor was planning on moving out in a few months. She was always a bit more reserved than the rest of the Arcs.

"Jaune! Get over here, we have to talk about which combat school you're gonna go to." Alexander said loudly, watching Jaune stumble out of his chair before walking over and sitting down next to them.

"I thought I was too old to go to a combat school." Jaune mumbled confusedly, tilting his head.

"Well you are." Jaune slumped.

"But your father and I pulled a few favors, the headmaster of a combat school just so happened to owe us a favor or two." Galore drawled out, a smile on her face as she looked up at her husband, crawling into his lap. Alexander sheepishly scratched his head as blood rushed to his face.

"I, uh… accidentally saved the guy's daughter." Alexander said, Jaune blinked in response to that

"H-how do you accidentally save someone's daughter?" Jaune asked disbelievingly, trying to think of a situation where something like this might happen.

"Tha-that's something that your old man's gonna keep to the grave." Alexander answered while shaking his head, face palming as the smile on Galore's face seemed to grow even wider.

"Anyways, you're gonna go to Signal Academy." Alexander declared with enthusiasm.

"But why not Pharos, all my sisters go to Pharos why can't I go with them? Pharos is a lot closer too." Jaune asked while tilting his head, his mother giggling and also tilting her head in response to his question.

"First of all, Pharos only accepts people that are twelve years old, second, Pharos is a female only school." Galore answered, giving him a close eyed smile. Jaune seemed to take a few seconds to process that information before he face palmed.

"But my sisters were always telling me to come to Pharos… saying I'd fit right on in." Jaune grumbled, shaking his head.

"They were probably calling you a girl." Alexander blurted out, Galore hitting him on the head in response. Jaune nodded wordlessly.

"You'll be going to Signal as a second year, so you will be a bit behind the others." Alexander continued as he rubbed his head, ignoring how his wife was sending him a glare that had no real heat to it.

"And since summer just started, you'll start in two months."

"Okay… and where is Signal?" Jaune asked, expecting Signal to be a small off-the-grid combat school.

"On the island of Patch."

Wait. Wasn't there a bigshot combat school on Patch? That was famous for spitting out Huntsman that could kill oceans of Grimm?

"Uh, are we moving to Patch or something?"

"No, you are. And that means your gonna have to learn how to make something that isn't grilled cheese!"

Author's note: This was just originally a little idea that popped into my head but then it wouldn't stop growing, and I had to write it down or else I would get a headache.

Anyways, thoughts?
