Chapter 6 Stuck in My Shell
In a golden room with a crescent table in the middle of the giant space. The windows on both sides show the evening golden light. All sitting at the table were five people, these five people were the republic city council. These five individuals were in charge of leading and budding the great city. Though this city was now in uncertain times. A tan skin man who wore a water tribe style of clothing, his hair brown and long. His face was slim and his bright blue eyes made him approachable. This was Councilmen Tarlock. Great person who held much respect in the city.
"This has gotten out of hand Tenzin we must take action!" He yelled salting his hands on the table. Currently, the room was in a rage of arguments and insults. Tenzin who sat across from Tarlock patiently held his hands.
"We can not take action against the spirits we need to understand what causing them to act this way," Tenzin said trying to show the reason in the situation.
"It's not just spirits, I was there when a mad scientist rode on a dinosaur! Not mentions equalities protest seem to be on the rise. Well, I'll say we bring the army into this matter and protect the citizens!" Tarlock argued back. The other members could haven't agreed more.
"Staring more conflict will make the spirits angry, I know my father has told you of this, we must keep calm and learn what is going on," Tenzin said. Trying to make a good point. Tarlock had smiled at the air bender and titled his head.
"Then have you made contact with them?" He asked. Tenzin froze at the question but quickly made his answer. Tenzin knew what this man had always tied to do in this meeting; try to gain more power. There were originally six members of the council. Though I'm some miraculous way Tarlock was able to take that person spot in the city. Tenzin never liked the man and could see this way as some power play for him.
"No," He said. The murmur is ruptured amongst the councilman. Tenzin was the son of Aang why hadn't he made contact by now? Airbenders were notoriously known for their spiritual side. Tarlock smirked at the question thinking he had made more leeway in his fellow council members.
"Have you ever been to the spirit world? How can you call yourself the son of Aang," Tarlock accused Tenzin. The air bender felt a sensitive spot was hit but he kept calm.
"Will you get back to the topic at hand," Tenzin said. He wouldn't make an outburst and make a fool of himself.
"Perhaps if you can't handle the spirit situation, why don't we call the avatars uncle I've heard great stories from him and how he's a spiritual master," Tarlock said. An older gentleman who was in his sixties Wearing an earth bender style of clothing and a large green ceremonial hat Spoke up.
"I agree with Councilmen Tarlock he appears to have the right idea of the armed forces getting here, I second his choice," Wu said. Tenzin knew there was no stopping the vote instead of trying to stop it he could move it in his favor.
"I secondary that decision only if General Bumi leads the charge," Tenzin said all of their eyes flared open. General Bumi was a well-respected military higher-up. The other three couldn't Disagree with his choice but Tarlock narrowed his eyes. Bumi was Tenzin's brother and had a strong bond with his family and knew the other would let him say no to his choice.
Tarlock in great haste raised his gavel and glanced at the room. "Alright, it appears we have agreed on something all in favor of General Bumi leading the charge. Tarlock and Tenzin's eyes met with heated glares. The slam of the gavel signifies the meeting was over. Tenzin left in great haste thinking he had little time to prepare when the republic city forces arrived.
Ube who was currently sweeping the floors to the happy dragon. His broom held tight and smiled brightly. There was more pep in his motion. Mr. Shi walked into the building whistling. Then stopped when he noticed. Ube was happy today and he was showing the world.
"Hmm and why are we in high spirits today?" Mr. Shi asked. Ube was snapped out of his daze acknowledging the old man. "Sorry, I didn't notice you there,"
"You still haven't answered my question," Mr. Shi said. Ubs blushed at the question and smiled.
"Well, I'm just happy about the new day, you know fighting crime and monsters, you know new stuff," Ube said, then quietly whispered under his breath, muffling his voice.
"And then the new girl who's working here," Ube said, making him blush more.
"If you like her, why don't you ask her out?" Mr. Shi said out loud. The Young teen waves his arms over his chest in a panicked manner.
"Ssh! Don't say that out loud, she might hear you," Ube said in a loud whisper. Mr. Shi shook his head and the answer.
"You kids nowadays are so confusing, why can't you say ya just like someone," He asked, not understanding this newer generation. Ube couldn't just say he liked Asmai or ask her out on the spot, she was an awesome girl, and he was just a simple delivery. Boy never really thought about going up in life but here he was in the choice to make those decisions which made him nervous.
"She is really special, and besides, I have to focus on my patrolling. She is a good friend." Ube said, making sure to hide his blush this time.
"Well fine let it be but you better be careful out there today," Mr. Shi said. Then he looked out of the window. "I heard the republic city Council just had a big meeting today, about your little incident."
Ube wonder how they were going to handle that incident. The police cruiser blimps were starting to traffic the air. Maybe he should lay low for now but even he knew that his nature to help people would always bring him out. Mr. Shi could see how brother he was.
"Well try and finish up your shift, I got to show Asami the cooking ware and our routes," Mr. Shi said walking into the kitchen, getting the orders of the day ready. Ube thought after this he would do more training. The curfew for the city was surprisingly lifted so he wouldn't have to worry about scaring his mom.
The sound of a bell got his attention, The front door opened, and Asami walked into the restaurant. She had her black hair tied in a tight top bun while wearing kitchen clothes. She wasn't wearing her makeup yet it didn't hold back her true beauty. She had a more natural elegance today. Ube continued sweeping the floors and tried to not look. She gave a happy glance at her co-worker.
"Hey Ube, how it's going?" She asked. Ube tried to play it cool yet when he spoke his voice cracked in high pitch.
"Hey~! I mean uh hey," Ube said trying to lean on his broom trying to look cool. Though he almost tripped on his wrong footing but thankfully caught himself in the nick of time. Ube looked up to see Asami had a mused smile. She let out a quiet giggle. Ube quickly straightens up. He wanted to change the conversation but didn't know what to say. In haste thinking, he saw the newspaper held in Asami's arm.
"You got the paper what's the big news today," He asked.
"Here take a look yourself," She showed him the front page. Ube took the paper from her hands.
"Now let's see what-," Ube couldn't finish his words after seeing the front page. On the top article with a bold heading.
Spirits! menace the city and destroy the local museum!
"What the heck!" Ube said in alarm. Asami grew curious about the certain reaction he gave.
"The museum was damaged by that Animo dude, not m-" Ube immediately corrected himself mid-sentence. "I mean the water spirit, yeah that's what I meant to say, water spirit,"
"I know right, the press has been so against these spirits," Asami said in a stern voice.
"Yeah well maybe that's true but those spirits should be a little more careful you know," Ube said. Rethinking the situation in the museum. He could have been way more careful, and some people did get hurt on his watch. Asami sighed but understood.
"You got a point there but I think they were a great help," Asami said. She thought it was a good thing the spirits saved her father. The whole ordeal was beyond scary. The police weren't there in time and she wasn't sure a bunch of metal-bending cops could stop a dinosaur. The memory of almost being eaten by that thing still haunted her mind. Asami and her father's life almost ended on that podium. Then a noble red hero arrived.
"Well if the world gets crazy I don't mind some extra hands to help," She joked. Ube let out a soft chuckle. They both soon were in comfortable silence. Ube ponders what to do next should he say something though at the end of the day why not make a friend?
"So my shift is ending soon, I'll see you later," Ube said. Asami smiled and gave a curt nod.
"Okay I'll see you later," Asami said as she began to walk to the kitchen, Ube did have one thing to say.
"Oh hey Asami, just a bit of a head up, you'll be doing dishes for the first month, it should be easy," Ube said. Asami's smiles somewhat brighten.
"Thanks, Ube," She said. With that, she enters the kitchen. Taking his time sweeping the last dust of the ground Ube clocked out. There was only one thing he wanted to do after work and that was training.
Lin sat in the office with a mountain of paperwork, she had a furious brow two days ago the incident had happened. The press had given the whole museum ordeal a nickname. They called it jeopardy in paradise.
Every time Lin walked out of the police station she was swarmed by the media. Asking what her opinion was and what was the next course of action. She heard rumors that the republic city army was soon coming to the city. This whole situation will soon be out of her hands in a week.
She needed to figure out a situation before the army came here. Tonight she needed to figure out an agenda with Tenzin. She was starting to get stressed, perhaps she could have Ube cook for her again, she had been late for dinner the past few days. Lin had felt like she was doing a horrible job of being a mother, it wouldn't be too long until Ube would leave for himself. She did find her son was being strange. Ube had been quiet and distanced it, even though she was mostly leaving him. Lin knew one thing; her son wasn't a quitter.
Trying to relieve stress she rubbed her temples. "Maybe I should go to his favorite market and pick up some ingredients,"
Then a gentle knock came from her door. She took a long sigh.
"Come in," She called out. The door opened as Lu and Gang walked into the room with somber faces.
"So what do you have?" She asked. Both of the senior detectives glanced at each other and nodded.
"Well good news and bad news," Gang said.
"The good news is I've gotten some more eyewitness accounts about more spirits, we've narrowed down the sightings, and it appears they visit one casual spot, the non-bender ghettos," Lu said proudly stroking his mustache. Lin raised a suspicious eyebrow. Why were the spirits there at that location, were they hiding on purpose, or worse the spirits were more nefarious than she thought? She had done her research about spirits herself, wanting to further herself in the subject. She didn't want a father Glow Worm in her city.
"Why there?" She asked out loud.
"We asked some of the residents in the area. The spirit scared off a lot of the triple triads," Lu said.
Lin narrowed her eyes at the information and crossed her fingers together in a thinking manner. "Get a couple of officers posted there," She ordered. Then taking a deep breath to prepare herself for the next information, "Now tell me the bad news,"
"The bad news is we have no clue where that giant machine came from, honestly the Sato company couldn't figure it out either," Lu said. Lin grumbled at the sound of a dead lead.
"It gets worse boss, we found something you might need to see," Gang said, pulling a brown folder from his coat. Laying it on the table for Lin to see. She carefully opened it to see the contact inside. Her face was in shock. It was a picture of Zolt's charcoal body floating in the bay.
"That's lightning Zolt's body," Lu calmly said. "We found his body down by the harbor."
"Yeah they're still running an autopsy on him, I heard from the streets that the triple triads have some new management, I heard one of his guys put him under, shady shin," Gang said calmly. Lin's theory of her brow. Now she had to deal with this new crime boss who was making his way through the under-city. Not to mention how brutal it appeared he was. Lin knew of this shady shit. He seemed more like a hustler. Why would he take power?
"You two, I want you to look into this, I'm going to investigate the ghettos myself," Lin said. They both gave her a salute and walked out the door. She would catch this spirit would be the last thing he does.
Ube was in the warehouse, doing some warm-ups, and he oddly found his new route to be relaxing. Wake up to work and train after and at night stop the bad guys.
Ube sat on the ground going through his Omnitrix seeing his forms. He counted about ten forms but now there were two forms left that he had yet to transform into. Ube should test all of these forms before going to the field.
"Alright Ube you got this no screw-ups, you hundred percent got this," Ube said trying to hype himself up. He turned the dial on a more round-looking form. Pushing down on it his body began to change, the green light engulfed him.
He felt his bones become more hollow and his body grew larger, his skin becoming more scaly and green. His back started to harden with Carrabis growing over his back. After everything was done and the light was gone. Ube stood in his new form. A green turtle-like alien with large flipper-like arms, green eyes, and stumpy legs. The tips of his arms also have three holes each.
"Rarrrawr!" Ube let out a mild roar like his voice could go any higher monster voice pitch. Then looked at himself. "Aw, great a turtle!"
Ube tried to move toward the mirrors, seeing more of his wide body and seeing the giant holes in his body. He couldn't help but see himself as one of those electric fans. Ube quickly walked to the center of the room. He looked at the warehouse ceiling, seeing the giant hole made by him when he was Four Arms.
Ube took a deep breath and let his instincts take over. Ube closed his eyes, going into a tranquil state of mind, only focusing on the aspect within.
Ube's fins and legs slowly retracted inside his shell. His stomach was on the ground. He could feel a great swirl within himself. He decided to act on this feeling, a storm was bubbling up inside of him. He felt his legs form into a third fin, His fins started to slowly move around him. Heaven past his joint his body had become a giant. The room started to have a large draft. He felt he wasn't going all out, that he was subconsciously holding back. Poking his head out of the shell he started to work his arms faster.
"Come on let's see what this turtle can do!" Ube thought with great determination to push himself. His fins started to spin more. His eyes widen as he could see his body slowly moving off the ground; he was levitating.
"Ha, this is cool!" Ube said with excitement. To him, this was as easy as flexing a muscle. He felt his fins propel in the air. He zoomed into the air, flying through the room.
The trash and paper in the rooms flew across the floor. He was enjoying the gentle fly. He looks down at the ground and smiles with his turtle face.
"Maybe it's time I clean this place up!" He said. He began to concentrate harder than he felt it. Streams of air were shooting out of his holes, pushing all the dust paper, and trash out of the building, and smashing through the windows. He was about to stop when his gentle winds thrashed into a raging typhoon.
"Oh no!" Ube thought in panic. Ube skyrocketed through the warehouse. He created a green tornado below him. Ube could see the People below starting to run away from the warehouse.
"Aw man," He cried out. "Sorry!"
Now high in the sky causing a twister from his holes. Luckily not that many people were around but knew the cops would come soon if he didn't wrap it up. Ube felt lost in the feeling of never-ending winds.
"Come on, it's just feeling calm down," Ube thought. He tried to stop but felt more tension in himself.
"Calm down! Calm down! Just relax!" Ube thought in hysteria. The winds did not temper, they became more large and harsh. He was not in control of this feeling of endless wind. when it came to so many of the forms he transformed into there was a certain nature to it but with this one, he felt totally out of control. He felt bound to nothing, and it scared him.
"No! No! No! No!," He thought. Ube was now on an accidental rampage. The young hero did the next best option and completely stopped moving. It took all of his willpower just to not move an inch. He found himself plummeting straight down the fins, sprawled all over trying to do something, then unbeknownst to him. He accidentally hit the Omnitrix turning the silver ring side.
"DNA lock activated!" The Dial said.
Then he fell onto another roof and lay on his back. Thankfully his shell protected him from the fall; the roof wasn't so lucky as it had a large indent where he lay. He slowly got up and looked at the destruction. Thankfully the warehouse where he practiced was still intact, but there was a new hole. Ube feeling a wave of guilt hit sat down his legs holding him steady while he held his head with his flippers. He hated senseless destruction plus he probably caused a lot of people to panic. He knew his mother would ground him for that.
"That could have been way worse, I need some serious work with this guy!" He said out loud. He looked around to see the city, he was guarding from corruption. It was his duty to help but how could he do that when he caused so much demolition? He didn't forget about the museum either being a very painful reminder of his actions. This form made him feel free and he didn't know how to control that, the losses winds made no sense to him.
"Aw, man I wish I had a teacher," Ube said out loud.
Above in the sky, one man rode on a giant flying beast. It had flat manatee-like tails, brown eyes, shaggy white fur, and a brown arrow that runs along its back from tail-tip to forehead. It has six legs with three toes on each foot, its mighty horns stand out. Tenzin rode the giant as he sat on a large saddle on its back. He held the reins flying through the sky. The man had been thinking long and tired about this spirit situation. His father's avatar aang would mediate and enter the world, but despite his mastery of air bending, he could never enter his mind in the spirit world. He found it to be his greatest shame.
He was heading towards a councilman meeting about the crime rate and the equalist matter. Until he spotted a red figure down below looking at the city, he narrowed his eyes and widen in surprise.
"It's a spirit!" He thought. Tenzin whipped the reins.
"Yip, Yip Oogi." He yelled letting the sky sly downward. Air Bison had flown downward at the building where the red spirit was. Tenzin noticed the four spirit wasn't paying attention to him, only the city. As Oogi gently landed on the roof as quietly as a feather. Tenzin could now hear the red four-armed spirit talking to himself.
"Hmm maybe fan dude, no that's terrible, The spin, Hey got something there, now what to name me?" Ube said out loud. Tenzin jumped off Oogi with light grace. Tenzin took a long breath.
"Greeting-"
"AAAH! You scared me!" Ube said, spinning around to see who spoke. His gres. eyes widened at who was standing in front of him. They both gazed at each other with awe. "Calm down, Ube it's just the only master air bender and son of the late great Aang, and your mom's ex-boyfriend, keep it cool."
Tenzin also tried to keep calm. "Alight Tenzin this is it, your moment to reach out and finally be one with the spirits and help Korra with her avatar training. Don't panic, remember what your father taught you." Tenzin thought.
"Uh, Sup." He said, Tensin was a bit thrown off by the slang, but still would show the most upward respect.
"Hello great spirit, I am Master Tenzin and I wish to know what you're doing here." He asked. Ube shrugged his shoulders. "Please, have we upset you,"
"Oh, I was just out jogging, you know, just stressing my legs," Ube said nonchalantly. Tenzin walked forward, arms open. honestly, he was a bit taken back by how straightforward this spirit was.
"What is your name, oh great spirit." He asked. Ube was stunned as he tried to make one up, on the spot.
"My name is uh." Ube tried thinking until he gazed at his body. The next words he said became slurred. "My name is Terra, uh yah, TerraSpin."
Tenzin was a bit taken aback. By such formality, he thought spirits carried a divine attitude.
"TerraSpin have we done something to disturb you and your fellow spirits in this area? Did we build upon a place making you unease to your kind?" Tenzin asked.
"Oh yeah well, I'm kinda a free spirit, can't really hold me down one spot," TerraSpin said with a nervous chuckle. He quickly began thinking of ways to escape this.
"Then why did your fellow spirits destroy that mecha?" Tenzin asked.
"Oh you mean Shocksquatch and Goop, yeah were all kind of here so if you don't mind, I got to go," TerraSpin said, pointing all of his sharp, black talons behind him.
"Wait, please tell me why you're here in the human world?" He asked. TerraSpin had the sly answer in the back of his mind. Ube realized who he was talking to. This was a council member of the city. He had so much leeway in power that he could help these people down below.
"Well, first off, we can drop the formalities and we'll see these non-bender ghettos need work. Some people need food, I'm here to help people like them." TerraSpin said. Tenzin himself knew of this matter but the fact a spirit was trying to fix it showed how serious the situation was.
Tenzin held his head in anger. Thinking about how this all made sense to him even though he was being lied right to his face.
"Yeah I'm here to help you with these guys and stop the crime rate, you guys need all the help you can get, especially since the avatar is somewhere that's not here," TerraSpin said trying to hopefully sway the council member to do something. Tenzin began to assemble puzzle pieces in his mind. it all made sense now, the reason why there was so much spirit activity. This was because of the absence of the avatar. Now knowing this was some sort of balancing in the world. These noble spirits were protecting the people.
"But wait, why were you destroying this area?" He asked. TerraSpin nervously tapped his two fins together; like how a child would do when they got in trouble. that greatly disturbed him the most with the fact there was a spirit with elemental powers. It was almost unheard of. if you follow the reports about the museum incident a water spirit was said to be there as well.
"I was-uh kind of practicing my powers," TerraSpin said, trying to sound nervous. Tenzin was confused.
"Excuse me, did you just say practicing?" Tenzin asked. TerraSpin gave a slight bow to the question. Making Tenzin a bit concerned.
"Yeah, not I'm not Too good at being a protector yet," TerraSpin said. Tenzin found it so strange that a spirit was practicing, and how kind his responses were to Tenzin to parental eyes; he looks like a teen, unaware of his actions. He took a big sigh of relief and gave a tired smile.
"Well please, unfortunately, I am going to have to ask you not to train here," Tenzin asked politely.
Then an epiphany dawned on him. He needed help controlling the wind. Now right in front of him was an air-bending master, this was the perfect timing.
"Hey, I have an idea how about you help me!" TerraSpin said. Tenzin ears perked up at the answer and had a surprised look.
"Really?" Tenzin asked. The alien nodded his head.
"Yeah, hear me out, I know you live on that air temple island perfectly far away from the city. I'm sure I won't destroy anything." He asked. The councilman was taken by surprise.
"But what would I even teach you, great spirit?" Tenzin asked. Terraspin let out a sad sigh.
"Teach me about the ways of air bending, teach me how to embrace inner freedom, I can't control my wind," He asked humbly. Tenzin with all his choices and instinct made his decision.
"Meet me on the air at Temple Island tomorrow, at the crack of dawn. I'll await you, noble spirit," Tenzin said. A feeling of joy and excitement enters his body. He was here to achieve a dream to connect with the spirit world. He gave a noble bow. Terraspin did the same though almost fell to the ground.
"It would be an honor," Terraspin said. Tenzin hopped on his bison and sorrows high into the sky. He had much to prepare back home and to ready their special guest. Though he did find the whole situation strange and it felt a little wrong, he needed to tell Lin of the situation. Terraspin watched as Tenzin flew away.
"Alright, well, time for me to get back home before Mom kills me," Ube said out loud though he looked over the edge. He could fly home or do the smart thing and wait for his Omnitrix to time out. He sat down on the roof and waited.
After an hour he waited.
Another hour passed still waiting. The sun had a final set.
.
.
.
.
Four Hours later Ube was still waiting on top of the roof.
.
.
.
.
.
"Uh oh, I think I have a problem," Ube said out loud as he wasn't changing back.
In space.
Vilgax looked at the monitors on his screen. The screens had pictures of Goop and ShockSquatch, the last thing the mech drone saw. The Galactic conqueror sat on a metal red throne. His claws patiently tapped on the chair rest. The sliding doors opened to the room. One of his minions walked into the room. This creature had a humanoid appearance, but they were covered in high-tech black armor, while smooth four small cylinders protruding from his back
He gave a polite bow to his lord.
"My lord we have pinpointed the Omnitrix locations, we already have a fleet of drones on standby," The lackey of Vilgax said. The conqueror raised his arm to command him to stop talking. His red eyes narrowed at the screen as he clicked on a button that was attached to the armrest. The image on the screen changed to a picture of Ube who was starting with anger in an alleyway clearly at the Mech Drone.
"Have the units stand down," He ordered. The minion did as it was told and bowed to him.
"Gather a bounty for the Omnitrix," Vilgax said. The small Alien led the room to make the correct preparations. Leaving his lord all alone. After a swift moment, Vilgaz stood from his seat and walked toward the screens. There he could see his prize latched onto a lower being wrist. His red eyes narrowed on Ube. Even though his hulking mass would emanate raw power and anger. He was still
"Hmm, interesting," He said. so his goal was so close to him. He didn't wanna risk it. There are some things he needed to test before he could fully take what was his. This world was unmarked on the galactic map. He was in unknown waters. He wouldn't dare go headfirst into danger, that would risk the Omnitrix, if was gonna play the game he needed to know what board he was playing on.
"I'll take what's mine you lower life form!" Vilgax said, with keen interest. "For now I'll play the waiting game."
So that's this Chapter guys I hope you liked it, and I can't wait to show you guys the next one. So beginning on the Stuck in my sheel ark. Tenzin gonna have a handful trying to teach Ube. Also, I really like Terraspin aka I love turtles, This is going to be really fun. The reason behind the trouble with Terraspin is that Ube's mind is hard set on the study of earth bending, following those rules, and how Lin raised him. Also, a spoiler question so don't read this if don't want to be spoiled, what would be a good alien to represent Earth, Armodrillo, or Diamond Head? I feel Diamond Head would be the best.
Anyway thank you for reading and I hope you all have an excellent day and stay safe.
New message sorry I forgot to take out my notes for the story that's, why you saw the strange list.
