Their room was a decent size.

The carpet floor was pink, the beds had red comforters, the walls were an off-white, and there was a large window on two of the walls.

"Lei! Check it out! The TV has really high definition!" Duke lounged on his bed as he flipped through channels.

Leilani turned around and yelped. "Oh! Wow! I thought it was a window!"

"Any channel you feel like watching?" Duke tossed the channel guide onto Leilani's bed.

Leilani sat on her bed and read the guide. "How about ZBC? They always have something good."

Duke switched to ZBC. "Oh, sweet! Jeremy Ferreton!"

A ferret in a suit sat behind a desk with a grin. On the wall behind him was a backdrop of a city.

"Oh! Okay!" Leilani scooted closer to the foot of her bed. "I usually don't see him on TV. I usually just watch clips of him online if he's interviewing or doing some activity with a celebrity I like."

An ermine in a large green T-shirt with black flames and matching baggy shorts confidently walked over to the chair beside Jeremy's desk. Jeremy complimented the ermine's chunky silver chains she wore around her neck, along with her large, silver hoop earrings.

"Lillie Ermine!" Leilani exclaimed. "I love her! I didn't know Jeremy was going to interview her again!"

"It's weird; I always though she was a stoat." Duke tipped his head.

"I think ermine is another word for 'stoat.'"

"Oh!" Duke laughed sheepishly. "Good to know."

They watched the show for a few minutes. Leilani read "MUTED" in big white letters on the side of the screen.

Duke sat on the edge of the bed, holding the remote as he hung his head.

"Duke? Are you okay?" Leilani asked.

Duke walked to Leilani's bed and sat next to her. "Lei, listen. This time with you has been really great and everything. At first, I was really happy to be suddenly married to you, but that was because you were my ticket to making it big. I also knew that if you were the one who filed for divorce, I'd get most of what you have by the time the year was up. Now though, I feel bad. I really care about you, and I don't want you to lose anything, especially since you worked so hard to get to where you are."

Leilani realized she wasn't relieved. She was happy Duke was being considerate of her and no longer saw her as just a meal ticket with a pretty face, but she wasn't relieved about his decision, "Duke, what are you saying?"

"I'm saying that…when the year is up, I'll be the one to file for divorce so you won't lose anything. Unless…" Duke lifted his eyes up and met Leilani's.

"Unless what?" Leilani grinned and leaned toward him.

"Unless you…wanna stay married?" Duke inched closer.

Leilani couldn't believe this was happening. "Duke, I—"

BOOM!

The door exploded.

Duke and Leilani screamed.

At the empty doorway stood animals in green hazmat suits. Only their eyes were visible above their gas masks.

A tall one in the front, an outline of horns under the hood, stepped forward. "Weasels, we need you to come with us."

"We ain't going anywhere!" Duke grabbed the remote and threw it at the animal. He grabbed Leilani's hand and ran to the bathroom. He slammed the door shut and locked it.

"There's a window up there!" Duke pointed at a small, narrow window next to the shower. "I'll give you a boost, then you can pull me up!"

One of the animals started to bang against the door.

"We need to hurry! They exploded that door, they could do it to this one!" Leilani looked back and forth at the window and the door.

Duke cupped his hands and knelt down.

Leilani stepped on his hands, then jumped up and grabbed the edge of the window. As she sat at the window, she looked out and was relieved to see a large tree branch under it. Climbing down wouldn't be so bad! They were weasels, after all. She reached down and grabbed Duke's hands, digging her bottom claws into each side of the wall in an attempt to maintain her precarious position.

Duke squeezed her hands and tried to walk up the wall. "My feet keep slipping! The wall's real slippery, Lei!"

The bangs on the door became louder and louder. The door flew open and slammed against the toilet.

With all the strength she could muster, Leilani, with a surge of adrenaline, glanced at the green-clad animals, pulled Duke up and jumped out the window.

Leilani and Duke both screamed as they flew downward. They landed on the large branch Leilani had looked down at.

Duke let out a high-pitched, wavering noise. "We-We l-landed! We're here!"

"Come on! Let's climb down!" Leilani jumped down to a nearby lower branch and began to climb down.

"Oh! Yeah!" Duke followed suit.

When they made it to the bottom of the tree, Leilani looked around the parking lot to make sure none of the animals were there. Not even other animals were present, just cars.

"We need to hide somewhere! Then we can call the cops!" Duke exclaimed.

"I'm afraid that won't be necessary."

Leilani and Duke yelped and saw some of the animals behind them.

They ran.

The other half of the green group emerged and blocked their way.

Just as they started to run to the right, the divided group rushed them and grabbed them.

"Leave us alone!" Duke yelled. He bit the animal that held him, but the animal barely reacted.

Leilani scratched the one that held her in the chest, but not even the suit was affected.

"HELP!" Leilani screamed, "HELP!"

A hand clasped roughly against her muzzle as she attempted to scream more. She saw one of them do the same to Duke.

A truck with a small enclosed trailer behind it pulled up to the curb. Leilani and Duke were carried to the trailer and thrown inside.

"No! No! No! No!" Duke ran to the opening as Leilani followed, but it was slammed shut just before they could make it.

Leilani heard the start of the truck. As she felt the trailer move, she abruptly sat on the floor.

Duke crawled over to her.

"I'm turning on the flashlight on my phone. The darkness is making me even more scared." Leilani turned her phone on and tapped an icon of a flashlight. "I don't think I've ever had to use it before." She put the phone on the floor, which caused the light to distribute all around the trailer.

"Well, I guess now's a perfect time, huh?" Duke clearly forced a chuckle.

She grabbed Duke's hands and looked into his eyes,"Duke, if we don't survive this, I want you to know that I want to stay married."

"You do?"

Leilani smiled as a tear dropped down her cheek. "Yes, Duke! I'll be your Duchess!"

Duke laughed as his eyes glistened. "I love you, Lei-Lei-Lei!"

Leilani laughed. "I love you, too, Duke!"

Duke leaned in, closed his eyes, and kissed Leilani.

Leilani closed her eyes and wrapped her arms around him.

About twenty minutes later, Leilani felt the trailer stop. She and Duke sat next to each other, their arms wrapped around each other as she felt his quickened heartbeat. If she was going to die, she was happy she at least would die with the one she loved, who she knew loved her back.

An animal pushed the door back up. Beyond the animal was a tent. The same tent from the site of the Daring Do project.

"Why are we here?" Leilani asked as she squeezed Duke, "What are you gonna do with us?"

"You've been interfering with our project. Number One doesn't like it."

"Number One? That's like…the boss?" Leilani glanced at Duke, who shrugged.

"Yes." The animal replied.

"As in, someone who's above PJ?" Leilani asked.

The animal sighed and threw his head back. "Yes! Now come on!" He reached in and grabbed Leilani, while another showed up and grabbed Duke.

The weasels, held under their arms by each animal, were carried into the tent and led to a weasel who sat on the couch. She wore a purple hoodie, black mesh shorts, and had crimson eyes.

"Destiny?" Duke's mouth dropped open. "Is..Is that you? What're you doing here?"

The weasel, her hands folded on her lap, looked up at Duke with a smirk. "Whaddup?"

"You know her?" Leilani exclaimed.

"Yeah!" Duke pointed at the weasel. "She's my sister! The one I told you about that got sick a long time ago who I stole the money for!"
