They're still young and immature. Eighteen. A fresh graduate from high school with no specific direction for the future and unfamiliar with the highs and lows of adulthood.
He was a lonely orphan with no family background, and she was the eldest daughter of a successful businessman, possibly the next in line for the inheritance.
Pale and menacing eyes stared at both figures in front of him. His daughter and a boy, Uzumaki Naruto a nobody with a bad reputation to uphold.
"Hiashi-sama." He bowed his head to the tatami floor and his palm dug deeply into the curve of the mat.
"I seek your daughter's hand in marriage. Please grant us your blessing!"
His loud cry startled the other clan members gathered in the room. Hushed whispers were exchanged among them, accompanied by frowns on the wrinkled faces of the elders.
During the frenzied reaction, Hiashi Hyuuga gave no response. His face held the same stoic expression as he began to stand and take his leave.
"O-otou-sama!" Her voice trembled as she made her way beside him, clinging to him tightly. A somber expression was drawn on his face.
"You're no longer a part of the Hyuuga." The first and final words spoken by the clan head shattered the pair. Without looking back, he closed the door behind him.
The tip of her shoe dug into the snow as she sat on the neighborhood swing. Her palms were red from the cold until a warm cup of coffee and a pair of hands holding hers brought her warmth.
"Sorry, I don't have a heat pack with me," he said. White vapor trailed from his mouth as his fingers felt cold in her hand, and his nose was almost the same shade as a persimmon.
She removed the thick wool layers of her scarf from around her neck and wrapped it around him.
"You're going to be cold, Hinata!"
Under the snow-covered moonlit sky, her pearl eyes shone brightly upon him.
She smiled. "I'm already warm," she said, taking both of his hands to cup her face.
"Hey," he said, his face flushing red, seeming really cute from her point of view. "That's so unfair."
She giggled with mirth. He is always trying so hard to be her hero; it warms her heart, but she always outdoes him in every way.
She smiled and said, "I'll knit us a scarf." Her fingers slipped through his, and they held each other tightly, their bodies growing warm in the embrace.
His bright blue eyes gazed upon her.
"I'm sorry, Hinata."
She shook her head, causing her silky midnight hair to sway. "No, there's nothing to apologize for. I love you, Naruto-kun. Having you by my side is already enough for me; as long as we're together, we'll be okay."
"Yeah!" Naruto grinned. His eyes squinted, radiating full happiness. He felt so happy that he wanted to cry. Taking his princess off-guard, he took her up in his arms and spun her around, giggling happily.
"I promise, I'll make you happy every day!"
His tan, warm hands reached out and held her small, pale hands. Shining with excitement, he squeezed them gently, while she smiled in happiness.
They were both looking forward to the future. Together, they would go through life, and that was all that mattered.
A/N: I'm thinking of making this a side story but I've been busy with school. I will write again next time XD
