Spoilers warning: It contains a big spoiler for the ending of season 3, but nothing more than that.
Possible triggers: There is going to be some violence at the upper edge of what they show in the canon, but not extremely graphic. Some swearing (it's SPN after all).
Dean came to his senses to something nudging his shoulder not too gently. His eyes opened to two big green eyes staring at him. The face was vaguely familiar. He pushed himself on his elbows to lift slightly off the ground. As he did it, he heard a bunch of light steps bouncing around toward him. Now, all three missing kids were staring at him with curiosity. Good news they were alive.
A familiar grunt on his right claimed his attention, and the kids ran toward the newly waking figure, just like they did with him. A brief nod passed between the two adults to tell each other they were okay and Sam turned his attention to the kids, to ask the same question.
"Are you all right?"
A bit of uncertainty seemed to be passing among the kids at the question, but even if hesitantly they nodded one after the other.
Sam introduced himself and Dean before asking for their names. The girl who was staring at Dean when he woke up was too shy to speak, all of a sudden. At the question, she hid behind the older boy who took charge of the situation.
"I am Matt, this is Fran and this is Jack" Matt introduced them.
"Nice to meet you. Dean and I are here to help and to bring you back to your family. You are going to be okay." Sam said in his most soothing voice and his puppy eyes. That trick worked wonders on adults. Dean had tried to copy his brother's language, tone, pauses but he never managed to get people to calm down and trust him the same way Sammy did. Unfortunately, the kids seemed immune to it.
"It's normal that you are scared. I bet there is some big scary monster around here. You know what, you are really lucky because Sam and I we are monster hunters. I promise you, you are going back home." Dean tried in his big-brother tone.
"How are we going to get out of here?" Matt asked sceptical.
Dean looked at Sam for help and they both had a quick scan of the small space, hard stone floor, three stone walls, and solid metal bars that let a thick wood panel in view on the fourth side.
"We are still working on that part" Dean admitted.
Two excited voices came from across the metal surface.
"If they captured you, doesn't it mean that you are not that good?" Johnny asked.
The conversation was interrupted by two voices on the other side of the wooden panel approaching the cell. The kids run to the farthest corner of the cell. Dean and Sam stood up and got closer to figure out what the voices were saying.
"What is this mouth-watering smell?" The first female voice spoke in a lilting voice.
"I found them." A second woman replied with a shrill.
"I don't believe it."
"I tell you. It's them this time. C'mon use your nose if you don't believe me." The second challenged her. Dean looked confused in Sam's direction, who seemed just as much lost to that conversation. They never met a gourmet monster, but as long as they were talking about food they were on the safe side.
"I have to admit there is a certain je-ne-sais-quoi which is inebriating."
"The best Earth has to offer. Seasoned in Hell, my dear." Tension grew thicker between Sama and Dean at Hell's mention. Maybe they were talking about an entirely different kind of meal.
"And the texture of the bond- she said sighing-, oh believe me, I had a hard time bringing them back without helping myself to a little appetizer." The same high-pitched voice continued with enthusiasm.
"Okay, I admit, this is much more promising than the last pair. They were not even brothers."
Sam looked quizzically at Dean and mouthed a silent 'us'. Dean shrugged quite unsettled by the turn of the conversation. It sounded more and more like it. They were not slices of a fucking cake.
"Yeah okay, last time I got it wrong. How long are you going to hold it over my head?" By now it sounded like they were just across the panel
"Are you sure you haven't bumped in another Supernatural convention?"
Fuck it. Archangel or not he wanted to strangle Chuck. If there was one thing worse than being at some skank's mercy it was for said skank to have had access to your whole life and inner thoughts. Dean looked briefly at the kids and then at Sam, he had no idea how to get out of that mess.
"It's them. Look for yourself."
The heavy wooden panel slid away with ease, as two women in their thirties appeared on the other side. They looked vaguely alike, with lean figures and sharp facial features, one had blond hair and dark purple eyes, the other red hairs and grey eyes.
"Oh. My." The tilting voice belonged to the purple-eyed one.
"Told you so" Grey eyes voice sounded even more ear-piercing at short range.
"The Winchesters brothers." There was some satisfaction in the way she said it.
Their name said face to face was just the last confirmation of what they had guessed all along, nevertheless, it dropped a weight in Dean's stomach. If there was such a thing as a terrible start, that definitely qualified.
"Sorry, I am so excited that you are here that I forgot my manners. I am Lupe."
"And I am Ania." Purple-eyes, or better, Ania rushed into the conversation.
The names were familiar and Sam tried to place them, but he could not remember where he heard them.
"I guess there's no need to introduce ourselves." Sam half stated, half asked.
"We have heard soooo much about the two of you." Ania said smacking her lips.
"You shouldn't believe everything people say." Dean tried charmingly.
"And they look so strong." Lupe licked her lips hungrily "I believe they will satisfy our needs for a very, very long time."
The wooden door slid back again with ease leaving just a small gap. Dean pushed his hand through the bars and tried to open it again to get a view of possible escape routes. After a few failed attempts Sam joined him. Together and with great effort they managed to move it by an inch or so. The metal panel was way too heavy for them.
Giving up they turned towards the kids again. At least they found them.
