Author's Note

I have made some updates to the past chapters. These are:

That conjured diamonds store three times Emily's mana pool, and natural diamonds are 30 times at 1 carat.

Tanya started to close the store so they could go to her house to speak privately. Emily looked around the bookstore to see if any of the books jumped out to her. It was both her's and Bella's birthdays in two months.

"Did you bring a car?" Tanya asked as she turned the till off.

"No, im not old enough to drive, and I didn't drive all the way here from Arizona," Emily joked.

Tanya jokingly said.

"I don't see you sleeping in coffins," Emily shot back.

Tanya's mouth twitched as she finished closing the store and walked over to her.

"I can teleport, but only to places that I have been to or know," Emily said, following Tanya out of the store.

"You can teleport? That must be nice."

"It can be. It does need a large amount of mana in order to do." Emily said.

She may be willing to trust the Denalis, but she also knew that several vampires could read minds, so she didn't want to give away too much about her powers just in case.

Emily followed Tanya out of the bookstore, and Tanya locked the door and led her down the road before stopping at a parked Range Rover. Tanya got into the driver's seat as Emily got into the passenger.

"Are you not worried about being alone with a vampire?" Tanya asked, sounding curious.

"You're welcome to try and attack me," Emily said confidently, trusting that the magic in her bracelet would keep her safe.

"We are vegetarian," Tanya said in a reassuring tone. Emily was sure Tanya was trying to make her feel more comfortable and safe.

"I know. That is why I came to you instead of the Volturi," Emily said as Tanya took a side road.

"That is probably for the best," Tanya said as the car pulled into the drive.

Emily was surprised at the house. It was a cosy-looking cabin made from dark wood with a stone chimney. However, it still had modern influence with angular features and many windows to allow natural light into the house.

Tanya smiled warmly at her without showing her teeth. "Well, let's go inside and talk."

The smile caught Emily off guard, and she couldn't help but stare, breath taken, at how beautiful Tanya was. It took Emily a few moments before her mind caught up, and she was able to look away.

Emily frowned to herself. When she read the books, she always thought that Bella was exaggerating how vampires could snare people with their looks alone.

Emily got out of the car and followed Tanya towards the house. Emily was sure that if there were any other vampires in the house, they would already be able to tell that she was there.

As they entered the house, two women walked into the room with warm smiles. One of them had dark brown hair and a hint of an olive tone to her chalky complexion with a lean body.

The other women had a warm, compassionate look, billows of soft caramel-coloured hair, delicate eyebrows, and a small, slender figure.

"This is Carmen and Esme. Carmen and Esme, this is Emily," Tanya said, introducing them to each other.

"It's nice to meet you," Emily said as she inspected them both.

Without a doubt, they were both stunning, on the level of models that she had seen in magazines and adverts. But she didn't feel like she was ensnared by their looks in the same way that she was with Tanya.

"Nice to meet you. Tanya didn't say she was having a friend over," Carmen said, looking at Tanya.

"Sorry, that's my fault we just met today," Emily said, knowing they would both be confused at her sudden visit.

"Emily is a witch. She came as she needed some help with something," Tanya explained.

Carmen and Esme looked at Emily, and she could see that they were both sceptical about her being a witch. To the shock of Carmen and Esme, Emily smiled and used her magic to conjure a bird in her hand.

Emily had never thought of hiding that she had magic, although she hadn't expected the Cullens to be here. Emily was sure that if Esme was here, all of the Cullens would be here.

Emily vaguely remembered that the first book mentioned they had moved from Alaska. However, no time was given for when they moved and how long they stayed in Alaska.

"How come I get a fireball, and they get a bird?" Tanya asked, almost in a pouting voice, as Emily vanished the bird.

"It felt like more of a magical than just a simple fireball." Embarrassed, Emily scratched her head. "So, shall we get down to why I came here?"

"I would like to wait for my two sisters if you don't mind?" Tanya asked. "I am sure they would love to meet you as well."

"Will they be very long? It's just my mom is expecting me back before it gets late," Emily asked as she looked at her watch.

"Im guessing you didn't tell your parents you were coming to Alaska?"

"No, they are 100% human. I haven't even told them about my magic."

"Probably for the best keeping them out of this world," Tanya said in an understanding, sympathetic voice.

"How about I cook you something while we wait?" Esme offered.

"Would you like some help?" Emily asked.

"Oh no, it's no bother. It's not often I get to cook," Esme said as she walked towards the kitchen.

"So you want to see some more magic?" Emily asked, unsure how to pass the time until Tanya's sisters arrived.

"What are you thinking?" Tanya asked with interest leaning closer to Emily.

"Hmm, do you have any rings with diamonds?" Emily asked.

"Yes, one moment," Tanya said before she vanished, surprising Emily.

Emily knew that vampires were fast, but she didn't expect they could move so fast that they could instantly vanish from her sight. In a few breaths, Tanya was back carrying a wooden box in her hands.

"Here," Tanya said, passing Emily the box.

Emily walked over to the table and took a seat with Tanya and Carmen following her and taking a seat across from her.

"So you need diamonds for magic?" Carmen asked.

"No. I want to enchant a ring, but it needs a source of mana. That can either come from a witch, or a witch can store mana in diamonds. And maybe other gemstones, but I haven't had the chance to check other gemstones yet," Emily explained.

"So what you going to make it do?" Tanya asked.

"Hmm, I am not sure," Emily said as she thought about what would be useful for a vampire. "Oh, I know."

Using her magic, Emily carved runes into the ring, one to draw the magic out of the diamond and another with a spell that would stop a vampire from being able to smell human blood.

With the runes added to the ring, Emily added a small amount of mana to the diamond in the newly enchanted ring from her own ring.

"There we go. This should now block the smell of human blood for the wearer," Emily said, holding the ring out to Tanya.

"Really?" Tanya asked, looking surprised.

"Well, I should. This is the first time I have tried an enchantment like this."

"You said other gemstones should work?" Carmen asked, looking at her ring. Emily saw it had three gemstones, a diamond and two emeralds.

"I haven't had the money to test with other gemstones, but they should work as well," Emily replied as Tanya slipped the ring onto her finger.

"I have other jewellery with other gemstones if you want to try them," Tanya offered.

"Sure, it saves me buying them," Emily said as Tanya vanished the moment she had finished speaking.

In a few seconds, Tanya had returned carrying a few more boxes which she placed on the table and opened the boxes. There were boxes of rings, necklaces and earrings inside.

Some of them had diamonds in them, and others had rubies, emeralds, sapphires and other gemstones or pearls for the earrings.

"How do you have your ears pierced? I thought the venom would heal it?" Emily asked, noticing that both Tanya and Carmen had earrings in.

"They heal when we are turned, and we have to redo it with vampire venom, or it would just heal again," Tanya explained.

"What about tattoos?" Emily asked questions about vampires racing through her mind.

"The ink is destroyed by the venom, and there is no way to have one as a vampire," Tanya answered.

Emily let out a hum as she picked out three identical rings. The only difference between the three was the gemstones, with one being a ruby, another emerald and the last sapphire.

"Do you know how big each one is?" Emily asked.

"They are all a single-carat," Tanya replied.

Emily used her magic to probe the three gems to see how much mana they could store.

"Hmm, they are not as good as diamonds. My necklace is only 1 carat and can store thirty times my current mana pool. These rings can store about 15 times my current mana pool," Emily said, putting the rings back.

"I am not sure how much cheaper rubies, emeralds and sapphires are, but that is far better than lab-grown diamonds or conjured diamonds," Emily said

"You can create diamonds out of thin air?" Carmen asked.

"Yes, but they are not very good at storing magic," Emily said as she tested the other gemstones and minerals.

"A conjured diamond of the same size can only store three times my current mana pool," Emily said as she put the pearls back.

"That is a massive difference. Do you know why?" Tanya asked.

"I only have a theory. There is natural magic in the world, and I think it's due to them being bathed in that natural magic for billions of years. But I have no way to test that," Emily said as she placed the jewellery back into the boxes.

"I made you some pasta," Esme said as she walked into the room carrying a bowl.

"Thank you, Esme, it looks delicious," Emily said, looking at the bowl of pasta.

"Do better quality gemstones matter?" Tanya asked.

"No, as far as I know, the quality makes no difference."

"How about the pearls and opal?" Carmen asked.

"Both are better than lab-created or conjured diamonds but worse than rubies and emeralds," Emily said as she placed the earring back into their trays.

"How is the food?" Esme asked.

"It's delicious. Have you ever thought about being a chef?" Emily asked, taking a forkful of pasta.

"No, not as a job," Esme replied, sounding thoughtful.

"Does human food taste good to you?" Emily asked, curious.

"No, it doesn't really have a taste. Carlisle thinks it is due to the venom changing our tastebuds," Esme explained as she took a seat at the table.

"What if you had a rare stake?"

"Err..." Esme said before looking at Tanya and Carmen, looking stumped.

"I am not sure, but it doesn't smell as appealing as it would if we hunted it when it was alive," Tanya said.

"Oh, it seems that everyone is here," Carmen said, clearly hearing something that Emily couldn't.

However, a minute later, the rumble of cars could be heard pulling up to the house. The sounds of car doors opening and closing could be heard before the door opened, and the door to the house opened.

Emily was surprised when instead of two vampires walking through the door, seven vampires were walking into the home. With a glance, Emily was able to tell that five of them must have been the Cullens, and the other two older-looking females must be Tanya's sisters.

Before Emily could say anything, an energetic-looking vampire the same height as she appeared in front of her. She was like all vampires, very beautiful, but Emily didn't think she could compare to Tanya.

Emily was sure that this was Alice. It was the only vampire she knew in the Cullens that was so small. Alice had large bright eyes with inky black hair that was short and spiky, which fit her quite well.

"Hi Alice, right?" Emily asked.

"Yes, it's nice to meet you, Emily," Alice said excitedly.

"Oh, it's nice to meet you as well," Emily said.

From the way that Alice was greeting her, Emily was sure she had either seen her coming or had seen they would be good friends in the future.

"Is this everyone? I am not sure how many more vampires we can fit in here," Emily joked, looking at her watch. It wasn't too late yet, having only gone one clock back in Phoenix.

"How long do you have?" Tanya asked, seeing Emily looking at her watch.

"Two hours, maybe three at a push," Emily said as she saw Tanya's eyes look over at Alice.

"Carlisle will be here in 10 minutes," Alice said.

Emily took her time to look at the other vampires and was quickly able to match them up to their names. Emmet was the easiest to identify. He was a towering giant in the room with a strong muscular build that looked very intimidating. Even if she knew he was a teddy bear.

Standing next to him was one the most beautiful females that Emily had ever seen. She had long blond, wavey hair and a figure that she knew models would envy. Without a doubt, Emily knew she had to be Rosalie.

That left the last two males, one with honey-blond hair and slightly shorter than Emmett. He was also much leaner than Emmett and looked slightly uncomfortable. Emily tried but was unable to detect any of the scars that she knew littered his body.

Next to Jasper was Edward, and Jasmine had to agree with Bella. He was very handsome with a strong jawline and untidy bronze hair. The only fault was the strong stare that he was giving her, and Emily was sure it was due to not being able to read her mind.

Emily used her magic to reach out to her bracelet, curious to see how much mana was being used to block Edwards's gift. Emily was surprised to see how little mana was needed to stop Edward from reading her mind.

At the current rate of usage, it would take about three months before a single charms worth of mana was used. Drawing her mind away from the bracelet, she looked at the last two females.

One had long, pale straight blond hair with a graceful body, and the other had straight, chin-length, silvery blonde hair. Which she believed made her Irina, so the first must be Kate.

"Can I borrow another ring?" Emily asked Tanya.

"Sure," Tanya said, looking curious at what she wanted to do.

Emily picked up a ring. It was a very plain ring with a silver or platinum band, and the stone was a pear-shaped emerald. It was one of the three rings that she had tested before.

Happy with the size of the gemstone Emily used her magic to add two runes to the band of the ring.

Happy with her work, Emily transferred mana from her ring into the emerald and filled it up with a charms worth of mana before cutting off the flow of mana.

So far today, she had used over four times her mana pool. Emily checked her own mana pool and was relieved to see that in the last hour, she had recovered about 10% of the 20% of the mana she had spent to teleport to Alaska.

"Here," Emily said, offering it to Tanya.

Tanya picked up the ring and looked it over before she slid it onto her finger.

"What's wrong, Edward?" Jasper asked as everyone turned to look at him.

"I can't read her mind, and when Tanya put that ring on, I could no longer read Tanya's," Edwards said, looking at Emily, no doubt looking for an answer.

"This stops people from reading my mind?" Tanya asked, looking at the ring.

"Yep. It should last a few months before it runs out of mana," Emily said to Tanya.

"I think you may have a few customers nodding towards the Cullens," Tanya said as she smiled at the ring.

The front door opened before anyone could ask, and the blonde-haired model entered the house.

"Carlisle," Tanya greeted.

"Well, now that every vampire in Canada is here," Emily said jokingly.

"I think we are missing a few vampires," Tanya joked.

"This isn't funny. She is a human," Rosalie said, sounding angry and frustrated.

"Witch, technically," Emily added, making everyone look at her.

"A witch?" Carlisle asked curiously.

"Yes, im a witch," Emily said as she conjured a bird which she turned into butterflies and then into fireworks before fading away. Catching everyone other than Tanya, Esme, Carmen and Alice by surprise.

"I have never met a witch before," Carlisle said with interest.

Emily smiled at Carlisle. Emily was sure many supernatural creatures hadn't been discovered yet. After all, before they moved to Forks, they hadn't met shapeshifters.

And in South America, there were Dhampirs that went undiscovered until Alice started looking for them.

"So you said you wanted to talk?" Tanya asked.

"Yes, though, I doubt you all need to be here. I need some help setting up a second identity. I also could do with some way to convert things like gold and jewellery into clean money for me to use," Emily asked.

"Is that all?" Tanya asked, sounding surprised. Emily wondered what Tanya had thought she wanted to talk about.

"Yes, there is no way for me to come into a large amount of money that I can easily explain," Emily said.

"The identity is easy. We have several people that create us IDs over the years. I can't see why selling gold and jewellery would be too difficult," Tanya said, sounding amused.

"We would buy your rings for a large amount of money. Never having to worry about blood again would make out lifestyles much easier," Carlisle said.

Emily was surprised Carlisle knew about the ring she had made for Tanya. Emily guessed that Esme or Carmen had filled him in either by talking too quitely and fast for her to hear or at a frequency that she couldn't hear.

"You sure they are still a work in progress? I don't know how well they will work or how long they will last." Emily asked. "The mana inside them is something I would have to replace periodically."

"That's fine. How about we pay for the rings, and then each time they need filling up," Carlisle suggested.

Emily was shocked by the offer. She hadn't really expected to sell enchanted rings to vampires but wasn't against the idea. The real problem was filling them up and how much mana they used.

If they used the same amount of mana as the spell that stopped Edward from reading her mind, then each one would last three months. However, Emily was pretty sure that the Cullens would want both enchantments.

"I am guessing you would want both enchantments?" Emily asked.

"If possible," Rosalie said, sounding a little more friendly.

"Sure, I can do that, and we can see how long they last," Emily said.

"Come on, Rose, let's go design some new jewellery for everyone," Alice said, grabbing Rosalie's arm and leaving the room.

"Can you pass me both the rings? I will just add both the runes to the one ring," Emily asked Tanya.

Tanya took off the rings and handed them over to Emily. Emily removed the runes on the first ring and transferred the small amount of mana into the second ring.

With that done, Emily added a third rune to the ring that would block the smell of human blood and passed it back to Tanya, who slipped it onto her finger.

"Carlisle, we can pay in jewellery this time and money later on," Alice called out from somewhere in the home.

"Is that okay? We can find some way to send you money if you would prefer," Carlisle asked.

"Yes, that works fine. I would have just brought gemstones regardless,"

"You sure we can pay some of it in money," Esme said, sounding concerned.

"I can conjure money easily. It's explaining where it came from that is the problem," Emily replied.

"How does jewellery worth 50,000 per ring sound?" Carlisle asked.

"Sure, that works fine," Emily said, surprised at the offer.

It wasn't long before Alice returned to the room carrying seven sheets of paper. Emily was sure they were the designs for the enchanted jewellery.

"Here are the designs," Alice said, passing the paper over to Emily.

Emily took a look at the designs. Four of the designs were for male rings, two were for bracelets, and the last design was a necklace.

"Okay, let me make them," Emily said. It wouldn't cost her much mana to conjure all of the jewellery, and her ring was nearly empty anyway, so she may as well use it up.

Emily reached out to the remaining mana, her ring. Drawing upon it, Emily started by conjuring the rings. The rings were very simple; for the metal, she used titanium and then conjured a 2-carat diamond in each of them.

With the rings done, Emily created the bracelets and the necklace. It had used most of the mana in the ring, leaving it with about half of her mana pool. Emily then added runes to all of the jewellery.

With the runes added, Emily transferred mana from her necklace to each of the items. Emily added three times her mana pool to each piece of jewellery.

It was all the mana that she could afford to put into them at the moment, using just under half of the mana in the necklace. Emily let out a mental sigh. It was only a day ago when she had filled up the necklace. She would have to find more wild magic veins if she was going to use mana like this often.

"Right, they are all done. They should last around three months," Emily said, handing the jewellery to Alice.

"Did you add the mind blocking to Edward's ring?" Alice asked.

Emily frowned as she realised that Edward wouldn't get any use from the mind-blocking enchantment as he was the mind reader.

"I guess his ring will last much longer without needing a refill," Emily said, shrugging.

"Thank you so much," Esme said as she took one of the bracelets.

"Do you want your rings doing?" Emily asked, looking at the Denali sisters and Carmen.

"Do you have enough mana? We can wait if not," Tanya said, sounding very worried for her.

Emily found Tanya's concern surprisingly heartwarming.

"Yes, I have plenty of mana stored up. So do you want to design some rings, or do you have some you can wear," Emily asked.

"I will keep this one," Tanya said.

"Can I have it on my wedding ring?" Carmen asked, taking the ring off.

"I wear this bracelet all the time," Irina said, pulling off a diamond tennis bracelet.

"I have this ring. Can you add a gemstone to it?" Kate said, pulling off a very simple-looking ring.

Emily wondered if the ring had a lot of sentimental value to it. She couldn't see why Kate would wear something so simple given how much money they must have unless it held sentimental value.

"Yes, im guessing you want to keep the original look of the ring?" Emily asked.

"Nothing too flashy," Kate requested.

Emily nodded and added the runes to all of the rings and the bracelet. Then, she added a small one-carat diamond to Kate's ring before transferring three times her mana pool to each item.

With that done, she handed them back to the Denali's.

"Keep those two trays of rings as payment," Tanya said.

Emily looked at the trays before shaking her head. "I can't. That is way too much,"

The first tray had eight diamond rings in it, and the other trays had 14 rings, six necklaces and three bracelets. Emily wasn't sure of the price, but she was sure it was at least a million dollars.

Tanya let out a small laugh. "I don't wear any of that stuff, and I have tons more. Think of it as a meeting gift," Tanya said, pushing the trays closer to Emily.

"I... okay," Emily relented. The look Tanya gave her told Emily that she wouldn't be taking no for an answer.

Emily wasn't sure how but she would make sure to pay Tanya back for the gift. Twenty-two rings was more than enough, even if she only used them as a way to store mana.

Not to mention Bella's and hers birthday was coming up soon, and she would be able to give her an enchanted piece of jewellery. And the Cullens were also going to be paying in jewellery as well.

"Do you have time to stay and chat? I would love to hear more about witches?" Carlisle asked.

Emily took a look at her watch and saw that it was already half-two back in Phoenix. "I have maybe another half an hour," Emily said.

Looking at the trays of jewellery, Emily asked. "Does anyone have a bag I can put these in?"

"Don't you have a bag of holding? All the witches in my games have a bag of holding?" Emmett asked.

"No, I mean, im sure I can make one, but I don't have one at the moment," Emily said as she grew to like the idea.

"Oh, I want one. I could carry so many more clothes when I go shopping," Alice called out.

"I will add you to the waiting list," Emily called back.

"So, do you know any more witches?" Carlisle asked.

"No, they keep their magic secret if I had to guess. It does make me wonder if there was something real about the witch trials, though,"

"I saw several witch trials during my childhood, but if they had your powers, they wouldn't have been caught," Carlisle said.

"I meant that there could actually be other witches. In the same way, vampires and werewolves are real even if they were never caught," Emily clarified.

"Ahh, hmm, maybe. I wonder if all myths have some truth to them," Carlisle said, looking thought full.

"I am surprised that Emmett never went hunting for bigfoot," Emily joked.

"I haven't found him yet," Emmett said, pouting.

Emily shook her head. "Well, don't eat him if you find him."

"Tanya mentioned mana. How does that work?" Carlisle asked.

"I don't know. It's a pool of energy I can feel in my body. It grows over time, and I think how healthy you are also influences how much you have.

"There is also wild magic, but that needs to be stored in a gemstone for a while before I can use it, or it causes incredible pain when trying to use it," Emily explained.

"Hmm, is there a way to find wild magic?" Carlisle asked.

"So far, I have only found two veins of wild magic, so I can't say if there are factors to look for. Both of the locations I found have lots of plant life and wildlife, but that could be a coincidence."

"I would love to see one of the places. I wonder if the plant life or animals are slightly different in those areas." Carlisle said as he went off into thought.

Emily was sure he was thinking of experiments that he could run to see if there was any difference between areas with wild magic and areas that didn't have wild magic.

Emily was curious if science could reveal anything about magic as well. If there weren't a ton of other vampires around, Emily would have offered some of her blood to Carlisle. She remembered that Vampires and shapeshifters had more chromosomes than humans.

Emily looked back down at her watch and saw that it was nearly three o'clock and knew that she had to leave or risk teleporting closer to her house and possibly being seen.

"Well, I have to go. My mum is expecting me back soon," Emily said, standing.

"Oh well, your welcome to visit any time," Tanya said, getting up from the table as well.

"I will. I am not sure when exactly, but I will definitely come visit soon," Emily promised.

"Okay, here is a cloth bag," Tanya said, handing Emily a small black velvet bag.

It looked like it would just be big enough to hold all of the jewellery that Tanya had given her.

"We will pay you the next time you are here," Carlisle promised Emily.

Emily placed all of the jewellery into the bag before looking at Carlisle. "That's fine im sure Alice will see when I am next coming to visit."

Carlisle let out a laugh. "Very few things get by, Alice," Carlisle agreed.

"Well, it was nice to meet you all," Emily said.

"Do you want a broom?" Emmett joked.

"You have a magic broom?" Emily asked in a fake surprised tone.

"Wait, magic brooms are real?" Emmett asked, shocked.

"Of course not. I teleport to get around," Emily said as she gathered her mana and vanished as she heard some people laughing.

In a blur of colour, Emily appeared where she tested her magic, a short run away from home. Looking around to make sure that she was alone, Emily started the run home.
