It's Up to Me
Chapter 05
_
Harry tilted his head as he scowled at his dusty room. He doesn't like how musty everything smells. And the bars on his window were back. Thinking about the Dursleys causes him to shake his head. He had grown up seeing the Dursleys' brutality and had only ever felt resentment and hurt. As a child, he was feeling unwanted, unloved, and mistrusted. He had long endured verbal, psychological, and physical assault. It already took a toll on him.
The previous days had also left him exhausted. He thus has no interest in engaging with the Dursleys at this moment. In a flash, he scrawled a message announcing his summer escape. He does, after all, need training. He will seek revenge at the end of the summer. He is unable to do it at the moment.
Three professors being with him was a fantastic thing. He is still not a big fan of Snape. But outside of school, he was a different person. Harry was eager to learn new things now that Snape was acting differently. He is aware that Snape is a master at defence. If he declines to train him, he may also offer to bribe him with basilisk ingredients. But First, he needs to go to Gringotts. So Harry requested Dobby take him there.
He made a brief stop at the Gringott's entrance to make the traditional deep bow to the goblin guards. They returned the bow. And gave him a discreetly wide-eyed expression to show their surprise. The strong scent of bergamot welcomed him as soon as he entered the room through the massive door. He counted two customers and many goblins doing business inside the bank. The hallways filled with a loud vibrating, ringing sound. His skin warped in a thick layer of strong magic, which left a sour taste in his mouth. Must be goblin magic. He approached the nearest goblin teller and waited.
He met with a raised eyebrow from Goblin, "Young Mage, greetings. How can I help you?"
"Greetings Master teller, I'd want to meet the Director," Harry said, putting his inheritance test on the table.
The goblin teller narrowed his eyes at him as he began to read the parchments. The goblin teller jerked his head back and roared in gobbledygook with wide eyes. That earned them many looks from goblins.
Harry was immediately escorted to Lord Ragnarok's office. The office walls paint in Banana colour and decorated with a few swords and axes. On a large, gloomy desk in the middle of the office, sat a goblin. Underneath the goblin's dark blue robes lay a necklace bearing the Rok royal insignia. The goblin's obsidian eyes screamed wisdom as he watched them approach him. As Lord Ragnorok motioned for them to sit, they both made a deep bow in reverence.
"What is the meaning of this teller?" With a gravelly voice, Ragnarok demanded.
"My lord Ragnarok, you must see this," The Goblin teller said with a submissive tone. And laid forth his inheritance test in the table. In Lord Ragnorok's gaze, Harry can see a curiosity building.
"It appears that we have a traitor among us. We'll take care of it, Mr Potter." Ragnorok stated, ringing a small bell concealed from view, after reviewing the parchments.
"Thank you, My Lord."
A goblin came into the office with a small chest. The goblin received a signal from Lord Ragnarok to set it down. After the goblin left, Ragnarok took four small boxes from the chest and placed them in front of him.
"These are Lordship rings. The Potter Lordship Ring is the first one. Young Harry, I wish you success." Ragnorok spoke solemnly.
Harry inhaled deeply and unlocked the silver box. He looked closely at the ring. The centre of the ring head had the Potter family crest. The Potter's crest shows a Griffin wielding two swords. Harry placed the ring cautiously on his middle finger. And then, Harry found himself in a dark room. The magic in the room joyfully sings along with his family magic. That is when he noticed his father. His father smiled softly at him. A strangled sob escaped his mouth. It took every ounce of his willpower not to warp his arms around his father. The father and son stared at each other. Tears burned his eyes and his lower lip trembled.
"Hello, Harry. I waited for this moment for 11 years." His father's voice made his tears spill down his cheeks. James Potter walked to him and he clung to his father tightly.
"Dad…" Harry choked. He sensed his father's strong hands holding him firmly. Harry cried silently as he experienced his father's warmth for the first time in eleven years.
"I'm sorry Harry, we never wanted this to happen. We wanted to escape to another country. But before we could, Voldemort came." A tear escaped James's eyes as he embraced his son tightly.
While struggling to hold back his sobs, Harry asked, "Why... Why... did he come after us?".
"There was a prophecy. It said that you have the power to defeat the snake-faced bastard. But it was fake." James Potter's voice was cold and distant.
"So you died for nothing," Harry muttered, hiding his face in his father's chest.
"We died saving you. Harry, we will do it thousands of times if it means keeping you safe. We will always protect you." James said while kissing his son's head.
"Is this real?" Harry asked.
"Yes. This room is created by the 6th Lord Potter of our house. As you know, this is where the heir is given the task of becoming the lord of the house. But you don't need to complete a task to prove yourself, Harry. You have already proven how wonderful my son is. And now You are officially Lord Potter."
"Really?" Harry glanced at his father surprised.
"Yep. Now Harry, listen to me very carefully. You need to free Sirius."
"Sirius…? Sirius Black? My other Father? Paddy?" Recalling the black dog in his memory, Harry asked.
"Yes. He is in Azkaban without a trial. Ron's pet rat, Scabbers, is Wormtail. His real name is Peter Pettigrew. He betrayed us to Voldermort, not Padfoot." Rage in his father's voice made him shudder.
"So an innocent man rotting in a prison."
"Yes."
"Alright. I'll do it."
"Thank you, Harry." His father cups his left cheek lovingly.
"Can I see Mom?" Harry's hopeful voice made James's heart ache more.
"You will in a few years prongslet. That I promise. Harry, be careful with Dumbledore. He is not an evil person, but he is not good either. And I wish you all the luck, my son. You have a great destiny ahead."
The last thing he felt was his father's kiss on his head as he was back at Lord Ragnorok's office. His eyes filled with tears as he glanced at the Potter Lordship ring. It glowed in gold as it fits perfectly on his finger.
"Congratulations Lord Potter," Ragnarok said with a small smile.
"Thank you, my lord."
Gryffindor Crest was a sleeping red dragon. The moment Harry put the ring on his finger the dragon's eye opened and blinked at him. A low hiss was heard in his mind.
'You are worthy. But you must seek Lord Godric Gryffindor's portrait young lord.'
As the hissing voice vanished, the ring with red glowed fitted into his finger. Harry sighed in relief. Harry wondered where he could find Godric Gryffindor's portrait. Maybe in the Vault?
The next ring Harry put on the ring was the Slytherin lordship ring. Slytherin crest was a basilisk. Like the Potter ring when he put the Slytherin ring he found himself in the chamber of secrets. In front of him was Salazar Slytherin, one of the founders of Hogwarts.
"Greetings, Lord Slytherin." Harry bowed at him.
"Greeting young lord potter." Salazar bowed back.
"Lord Potter, You do not need the Slytherin Lordship as you have several. There will be a child born on my eldest son's line. I wished the Slytherin Lordship would go to him. But I hope you will be the regent until he is ready."
"I will gladly do it. I'll inform Ragnarok about the child. Farewell Lord Slytherin." Harry smiled. He doesn't need the Slytherin lordship after all. He hopes the child is not Voldemort's child.
"To you as well Lord Potter."
Harry sighed in relief after finding himself again in Lord Ragnorok's office. This is tiring. He thought to himself. With a deep breath, Harry opened the fourth box. The ring was Black in colour and Deathly Hallows mark on it. Feeling rather dreed, Harry put the ring on his ring finger.
Harry found himself in a black abyes. He cursed himself for getting into things like these. Harry couldn't see himself. Where in the world is he? And then he heard the voice.
"Hello, Little One." The chilling voice greeted him. For a moment he freezes and then shivers. That voice was creepy. He is a Gryffindor for Merlin's sake.
"Greetings My Lord. How may I… Arr…"
"You will be given a task. You need to find the secret chamber of Salazar Slytherin's Son. I know you are an Animal Lover, Young Harrison. Help those poor creatures. Get help from young Newt Scamander."
"I will, my lord." He bowed after saying that.
When he opened his eyes, he saw Lord Ragnarok's concerned look. Giving him a tiny smile, Harry took the Peverell ring off.
"You were given a task," Ragnarok commented.
Harry sighed. He didn't know what to think about all of this. Nonetheless, he replied, "Yes, But now is not the time to discuss this. I need some alone time."
"Very well, We will talk about this later. You may stay at the bank tonight." Harry was surprised by the invitation. But he gladly accepted it.
"Thank you, My Lord. I appreciate it."
When the goblin servant left, Harry sat on the bed and thought about his parents. At this moment, seeing his father, Feeling his warmth makes him vulnerable. It was like a dream come true. He still feels his father's warmth in his body. Harry wished his mother would be there too. Harry blinked back tears. He doesn't want to cry like a baby. With his father, it was different. He can be vulnerable in his father's care as much as he wants. But a long time ago, he promised himself not to cry for anything. But he had broken his promise a few times. His eyes stung, clouding with tears despite his best efforts. Maybe this will be the last time he will allow himself to cry.
"We have much to Discuss, Lord Potter-Gryffindor, Regent Slytherin." After greeting him, Ragnorok said while giving him a curious glance.
"Agree. Please call me Harrison or Lord Potter, My Lord." Harry sighed.
"Very Well, Harrison. Call me Ragnarok as well. I will start with the test result then. The result shows you have a Horcrux in you, but I did not sense anything."
"Professor Flitwick, Professor Snape and Professor Babbling removed it. Blocks too."
Ragnarok nodded while giving him an approval grin. "Good. Now What do you want to do with the stolen money and items?"
"Can you reclaim everything?" Harry asked. His eyes gleamed in curiosity.
"Yes. There is a ritual to reclaim what rightfully belongs to the family or you. Even if they were stolen, illegally sold or simply lost. For money, we will take care of it."
"That's good then," Harry muttered.
"Before we start the next topic, do you have anything to add or discuss? Because our next topic will be a long one." Ragnarok said while taking a brown file from the locker.
"Ah…. Let me think… Hmm… SIRIUS BLACK…. He is innocent. Father said so. He said the real murderer is Peter Pettigrew. Who disguise as Ron Weasley's pet grey rat. And Sirius Black didn't have a trail. And Lord Salazar Slytherin informs me that there will be a child born to his eldest child's line. " Ragnarok nods at him.
"I'll inform Lord Black about it. Now let's talk about your duty as the Lord Gryffindor. You're the 3rd Lord Gryffindor…" Ragnarok was interrupted by Harry.
"Wait…What?" Harry's eyes widened in surprise. Ragnarok threw him an annoying glance but continued his explanation. Children…
"First lord Gryffindor was Godric Gryffindor's son Augustus. And the 2nd Gryffindor Lord was Frederick Gryffindor. He was to be the king of Viola but was murdered by Corbyn Douglas. Others did not pass the trail."
"King?"
"Yes, King. Viola is a kingdom built by Godric Gryffindor. It is two times bigger than Australia and It's located in the South Atlantic Ocean. We will crown you as the king when the time comes. But You are still young. So you have some time to prepare."
"Thank Merlin for that," Harry muttered while Ragnarok sighed upon hearing that.
"We should go to Viola…"
"Wait… Two times bigger than Australia? In the South Atlantic Ocean?" Ragnarok sighed again.
"Magic Harrison."
"Oh Sorry." Harry looked at Ragnarok sheepishly.
"That's quite alright Harrison. We will go next week to Viola. I'll contact Newton Scamander and a few other people to come with us. We do not know the status of the kingdom."
"Alright." Harry nodded, accepting the reason.
