Title: Reprisal in Echoes

Author: sidle77

Pairing: GSR – Always!

Rating: T-M (Rating will be adapted accordingly, look out for author's notes.)

Disclaimer: You know the drill: I do not own them, any of them and I will give back once I've finished playing, yada yada... CBS owns all (but not my idea!)

Summary: Grissom and Sara thought they had left Vegas behind once and for all. But, it seems a new killer on the scene wants to spoil that with some very unnerving blasts from the past that will thrust them into a nightmare they really don't want to be a part of. Kind of set during CSI Vegas season 2 or at least what would be that time frame.

Beta: The wonderful and amazing Calim. Sue, thank you so much for your continuing support and for sticking with me after all this time.

A/N: So, as a huge GSR fan, just one season of them in Vegas wasn't enough. So, I had a few ideas to follow up on from their departure and here is one of them. Hang onto your Evil Hats because it's going to be a very bumpy ride! And, I am very excited about this story. I hope you will be, too.

I will be getting back to Eclipse at some point. I promised I would finish the story and I will. But I needed some motivation after leaving such a big gap working on that and this new story is sure inspiring me.

ANNOUNCEMENT: I would like to announce the recent launch of my new page. Along with my fanfiction, other pieces of media will be posted and available to members through the channel. I will also be writing member's only stories (because it's time to explore a much more naughty side I've been wanting to try which is just too adult to post here on FF. Oh, yes). Come on over and take a look at the perks and tiers for more information. I would absolutely love to have you be a part of my new journey. This story will be available there in advance and you can also see the process I go through to write as well as get teasers and make contributions. I have created a live chat server you will be invited to and my goal is create a community where we can enjoy what we love. GSR! Billy and Jorja. Let's keep the fandom going.

The website address is below. You will need to put pat reon (all one word no spaces, nightmare to post a web address here) at the start and then the dot and then the rest. Make sure there are NO spaces or gaps just all one long address. I have to add spaces here as FF won't let you post links. If you have issues with it please message me here or on facebook and I will let you know where to go.

So, let the story begin. Away we go…..

Prologue

A glimmer of moonlight hit the small gap in the curtains, aiding the now wavering candle to add a little more light to room. Not that the two sleeping occupants inside were aware.

The couple lay together. Grissom spooned behind his wife, arm around her waist and hugging her naked flesh neatly against his own. Sara's hand rested atop his, fingers very slightly entwining. Both bore quaint, happy smiles until the quiet vibrating of a cell phone caused Sara's lips to twitch.

Forehead creasing into a frown as her sleepy world was interrupted, Sara blindly reached out, her fingers fumbling over the top of the nightstand in search of the annoying piece of technology. Finally managing to find it, she blurrily swiped answer.

"Hello…," she mumbled sleepily and quietly, trying her best not to wake Grissom. But as she felt him move then tighten his arm around her, she realised she'd probably failed.

"Hey, Sara. It's Cath."

Blinking through the darkness, Sara frowned again. "Hey," she breathed with very little enthusiasm.

"You sound sleepy," Catherine said. "Did I wake you?"

"Mmmm, yeah," Sara replied, her hand stroking over her husband's when she felt his lips on the back of her neck. He was definitely awake. "It is the middle of the night, Cath."

"Sorry," Catherine apologized. "I forget you guys have more of a regular sleeping pattern these days."

Sara snorted then yawned as her eyes closed again, leaning back to enjoy Grissom's attention when feeling his hand on her breast.

"Mmm, sometimes."

"Where are you? Are you on land?"

Eye's popping open, Sara quietly cleared her throat.

"Well, considering you've answered your cell, you must be. Right?"

Working her eyes in a circle, Sara hesitated. They hadn't told anyone about their current situation. Not even Catherine.

"Er yeah," she admitted. "We're in San Diego."

"Oh…." Catherine sounded surprised. "I didn't know that."

"We haven't mentioned it to anyone yet. So, what do we owe the pleasure of a call at this hour?" she asked, trying to sound innocent as she changed the subject.

"Well, um," Catherine paused. "You guys need to get to Vegas. Ideally, as soon as possible. Today if you can."

Now Sara really was confused. "Err, why?"

"I think it would be best to tell you in person."

An uneasy feeling washed over her. Sitting up, she flicked on the lamp, her gaze falling onto her husband as he blinked up at her, his forehead creasing with confusion.

"What's going on?" Sara asked again. "You know how Gil feels about Vegas now. Just dropping by isn't really on our priority list and there'd need to be a pretty good reason to come back so soon."

"Oh, this is a good reason," Catherine said firmly. "Please trust me. I wouldn't be asking if it wasn't necessary. You really need to get down here."

Shaking her head a little, Sara kept her eyes fixed with her husband's. "Let me talk to Gil. I'll call you back later, okay?"

"Okay," Catherine agreed. "Let me know as soon as you can."

"All right," Sara agreed, her voice totally uncertain. "Bye, Cath."

"Bye."

Deeply frowning, Sara lowered the phone and dropped it on top of the blankets. Reaching out, she ran a finger down the dimple in Grissom's chin and sighed softly.

"What was that?" he asked.

Sara shrugged. "I have absolutely no idea..."

A/N: So, what do you think? Evil hat is grinning. Hope to see you on :)
