Greetings, everyone! It's been a while since I've used this account. But for Pride Month of 2022, I want to do a special project. That project is a Tsubasa/Kiria story that takes place after the events of Tokyo Mirage Sessions. It's time for femslash!

Sometimes, Itsuki Aoi wondered how he got in so far in over his head.

He hadn't been able to refuse Maiko's request to become president of Fortuna Entertainment, not after the rest of his friends had asked him to take on the position. Yet the day to day business of leading a group of performers was a different beast from Itsuki's previous position as leader of the Mirage Masters.

A year had passed since the Mirages went back to their home world. While Itsuki and his friends had graduated high school, their various entertainment careers kept them as busy as ever, and it was Itsuki's job to be reliable when they needed help.

"You're looking rather stressed, President Aoi."

Itsuki looked up from his desk to see Ayaha looking at him with concern on her face.

"Please don't worry about me. I needed a quick breather before the start of the day," Itsuki said, putting on a casual expression. "I still feel very new at this."

"There's still a while before everyone shows up, so I can brew you a cup of coffee," Ayaha offered. She had settled in her position as a secretary, especially since it gave her a chance to watch over her little sister. "Have you eaten breakfast yet?"

"I had breakfast before coming into the office, but the coffee sounds nice."

Ayaha brewed a cup, and Itsuki gratefully accepted it while he pored over some paperwork. Touma wanted to direct his own movie, Yashiro was preparing a project that he wasn't divulging details on, Eleonora was preparing her departure to America… Itsuki let out a weary sigh. He was happy that his friends were thriving, but it fell on him to make sure they could actually reach their dreams.

At the very least, there are easier parts of his job. Mamori was very low maintenance, with Itsuki only needing to review the recipes used on her show so the parents wouldn't complain. Then there was the matter of a duo unit in Fortuna, made up of Kiria and Tsubasa.

Kiria didn't need much guidance, given her storied career as an idol before Itsuki had met her. As Tsubasa's childhood friend, Itsuki naturally offered her help whenever she needed it. However, because he knew Tsubasa so well, he knew that one day she would become an idol that could stand on her own. Itsuki even suspected that day would come sooner rather than later. After all, he had already seen Tsubasa grasp her personal happiness with her own hands…

The door opened and Tsubasa herself entered the room, carrying a large sack with her. Walking behind her was Kiria, carrying an equally large sack. The women opened the sacks to reveal that they were filled with fan letters.

"I can't help but feel intimidated every time that I see so many letters," Tsubasa said nervously. "Each of these letters represents someone that I can't let down!"

"That is true. That is also why you must maintain your stage persona even here," Kiria said, as she opened a fan letter addressed to her. "You want to be able to give the fans the answer they deserve."

"Understood, Kiria! I may still be new as an idol, but I will not stop until all these letters are answered!" Tsubasa exclaimed.

Itsuki smiled to himself, before returning to his own paperwork. It seemed that today was going to be another busy day at Fortuna Entertainment.

What Itsuki would find out soon was that today was not going to be a normal day at the agency.

The first sign that something was wrong was that the sound of Kiria and Tsubasa answering the fan letters had stopped. When the silence went on for a while, Itsuki looked up, to see that both women seemed to be looking over a single letter.

Accept the Girls' Love Dramedy "Our Heartfelt Message to You"?

→YES

Itsuki cleared his throat. "Pardon me if I'm interrupting, but it seems like there's something that's bothering the both of you."

The women looked up at Itsuki, and Kiria was the first to speak up. "If this were anyone else, I would tell them this is none of their business. But since it's you, Itsuki, and since you're our president… perhaps you should come over and read this."

Itsuki didn't read fan letters that weren't addressed to him, unless the contents were cause for concern. So since he'd been given direct permission, Itsuki left his desk and went over to Kiria and Tsubasa, before taking a look at the letter.

Dear Tsubasa Oribe and Kiria Kurono,

I don't know if you'll actually read this. You must get a ton of letters, and I'm just one girl. But I don't know who else I could turn to- this isn't something I could tell my parents. In fact, my hand is trembling as I write this, but I need to tell this to someone.

I think I've developed feelings for a girl in my class. I've never felt like this before, but being around her makes me happy and hot all over at the same time. We're already friends, but something in my heart wants more.

Except I can't get those words out of my mouth. The moment I say it, everything would change. I don't even know if she'd feel the same way… I could ruin our friendship. Of course I don't want that, but I can't keep these feelings buried either!

You're my favorite idols. Both of you are so brave, to be able to stand on stage and sing in front of all those people. I want some of that bravery. You don't have to answer my letter, but I want to know that someone is listening to me.

As soon as Itsuki finished the letter, he understood what had Kiria and Tsubasa so stumped. This was a delicate issue at the best of times, yet Itsuki could feel the anguish in the words from the letter. He knew that Kiria and Tsubasa would never turn down someone in need.

"In case you were wondering, I covered up the signature of the letter before showing it to you," Kiria explained. "I feel as if that is something that only me and Tsubasa should know."

Itsuki nodded to show that he understood that this was about the sender's privacy, before saying, "So, how do you think I'll be able to help?"

"We've been trying to think of the best way to answer this letter, but we can never figure out what we want to write," Tsubasa answered, a frustrated expression on her face. "Every time I try, it's like my hand isn't listening to me."

Itsuki put his hand to his chin, deep in thought. "Let's start with a basic question: what do you want to convey with your response?"

"It says right there in the letter that this girl wants to know that someone is listening to her. I want to do better than that," Tsubasa said, clutching her hands to her chest. "Because I was in her shoes not too long ago. Knowing that you have these feelings, with a part of you believing they're wrong… it's painful."

"That's likely the sort of the bravery this young girl wants," Kiria said, looking troubled. "After all, I still remember when I believed that I couldn't be true to myself, because people only wanted the 'cool' Kiria."

"Both of you can relate to this situation," Itsuki observed. "Couldn't you come up with a response with those experiences in mind?"

"You've hit upon the main problem that we're facing," Kiria said quietly. "Of course I want to reassure this girl that she isn't alone, and that she should be able to express her feelings. But I can't share why I feel that way, not when no one outside Fortuna Entertainment knows."

Upon hearing this, something began to nag at Itsuki. As if there was something that they were all missing, right in front of their faces. "Maybe there's something I'm not getting here, but why would you need to share such a personal detail? I think the reassurance by itself would be enough."

Kiria considered the question. "You have a good point, Itsuki. Yet it's like what Tsubasa said earlier- my mind knows what it wants to write, but my hand refuses to obey."

Wait, that's it! That's what the problem is!" Tsubasa exclaimed out of nowhere. When Itsuki and Kiria looked at her, Tsubasa blushed. "Oh, I'm sorry for interrupting the conversation."

"It's fine, Tsubasa," Kiria said, reaching down to grasp Tsubasa's hand. "If you've really worked out what's wrong, then tell me."

"I understand why our relationship has to be secret," Tsubasa said, squeezing Kiria's hand. "If it wasn't, it could cause trouble not just for our careers, but for Itsuki as well."

Itsuki knew what Tsubasa meant- as president, any scandal that involved his friends would fall on him as well. Being that he'd only recently assumed the position, a big enough scandal could sink Fortuna entirely.

"But the reason we can't come up with a good response to this letter is because any response where we have to withhold a part of ourselves is going to come off as hollow," Tsubasa continued. "To encourage this girl to be herself, while not being our true selves… doesn't that seem wrong to you?"

Kiria's eyes widened as Tsubasa spoke. "I think you are right, Tsubasa. No wonder we haven't been able to answer this letter after thinking about it for so long. We don't have an answer to give, at least not one that doesn't feel like a lie."

"At least you've worked out what the issue is, but it doesn't feel like that brings us any closer to a solution," Itsuki said, wracking his mind. "Is there a best way to handle this?"

This question was followed by a stretch of silence, and Itsuki felt frustration rise up inside of him. His tenure as president began only a year ago, and it only took a piece of paper to bring it to a standstill.

"The way I see it, there might be only one way to answer this fan letter," Tsubasa finally said. "I just wasn't sure if I should suggest it. But since there doesn't seem to be any other option, I think we should at least consider it. We should tell this young girl about our relationship."

"That's a drastic suggestion. However, I can't disagree that there's 'no other option'. If there were, we wouldn't have spent this long trying to solve this problem," Kiria said in a contemplative tone. "And yet, we should also consider what might happen if we went through with that. Perhaps we need one more opinion. Ayaha, could you come over here?"

At Kiria's request, Ayaha walked over to join the rest of the group, after which she was caught up with the discussion.

"Before either of you commit to a course of action, there is one thing that must be asked." Ayaha turned towards her sister. "Tsubasa, are you willing to risk your entire career to answer this one fan letter?"

"Of course! The whole reason I became an idol is because I want to use my song to reach out to others," Tsubasa immediately answered. "If I gave up because I 'could' risk my career, I may as well quit on the spot!"

"That's just like you, Tsubasa," Ayaha said, a relieved smile on her face. "Still, I had to make sure."

"Why did you only ask Tsubasa? Since we're dating, any possible scandal that falls on her would affect me too," Kiria pointed out.

"With your level of fame and popularity, you may be able to weather any negativity that might occur," Ayaha said. She lifted a finger in the air. "If you are both determined to answer this letter, there's something else to consider."

Itsuki felt awe at Ayaha's transformation into a seasoned idol. He'd never seen Ayaha as a performer, but right now her experience shone through every word she spoke.

"This may be the first letter of this nature, but it's likely not the last. For all we know, more such letters are in there," Ayaha said, gesturing to the sacks of still unanswered letters. "So if you are truly willing to risk even your careers to answer one letter, then I'd like to suggest this: that both of you disclose your relationship to the public."

"I get it, Ayaha! In for a ponny, in for a pend!" Tsubasa said, fumbling the phrase in the nervousness. I'm willing to do it if it means being able to help many kids that need help like this girl! But Kiria needs to agree too, of course!"

"If I were the Kiria of only a year ago, I don't think I'd be able to share something so personal," Kiria said softly. "Yet, I agree that it may be for the best to be honest with everyone. Very well, Ayaha. I agree to do this as well."

Itsuki had been quietly listening to the entire conversation, and knew that he needed to speak up. "Then as president of Fortuna Entertainment, I'd like to help arrange how this happens. It would be for the best if we arranged a news conference or the like."

"Before we do that, I think we should answer the fan letter first," Tsubasa said, smiling. "With something like 'we're here for you, and we have a message that we want to share with you'."

"Then as you finally answer the letter, I'm going to brew some coffee for everyone," Ayaha said. "It seems as if the hard work is going to begin soon."

Kiria and Tsubasa were able to formulate a proper response to the letter quickly, now that they knew what they wanted to say, and it got sent off soon enough. Ayaha finished making coffee and passed it out, and the group stood around Itsuki's desk for the planning phase of how Kiria and Tsubasa were going to disclose their relationship.

Before they could begin talking, however, the door to the office opened and Mamori walked in. "Everyone's still in the office? I thought you would have gone to your jobs by now."

"Hello, Mamori. Don't worry about it," Itsuki said. "We ran into a problem that took a little longer to figure out than we thought it would. You can focus on your career."

"If the problem is really that hard, I'd like to help," Mamori said. "I don't have anything I need to do right away, so that won't be an issue."

"Kiria and I are planning to make an announcement," Tsubasa explained. "What we are going to talk about right now is the best venue to make this announcement."

Mamori put her finger to her chin. "Do you know the audience for your announcement?"

Itsuki decided to field this question. "It's planned for an audience of teenage girls. Probably at around your age, if not a little older."

"Oh, then you could do the announcement on my show!" Mamori exclaimed excitedly. "Girls my age are a pretty large audience for it, so it would work out!"

"Absolutely not," Kiria said firmly. "It would be preferable if you didn't get involved, if at all possible."

"I thought I would offer," Mamori said, looking sad from having been so flatly refused. "Is it because I'm not a good enough performer yet?"

"No no no no, of course not!" Tsubasa said, frantically waving her hands. "It's because we care about you, Mamori!"

"Huh? 'Because you care about me'? Does that mean this announcement is dangerous somehow?" Mamori asked.

Itsuki winced. As young as Mamori was, the girl was also sharp, and the longer this went on the more she would probably press the matter.

"Then that's all the more reason for me to help! When we were Mirage Masters, I'd take blows for everyone," Mamori said heatedly. "Whatever has everyone so worried, it can't be worse than that!"

"It's rather hard to argue with that logic," Kiria said wryly. "Then there's no point in keeping it from you."

Mamori was given an abridged version of the events that had led up to their current planning session, Ayaha finishing it with, "The reason we didn't want to get you involved is that this could have negative repercussions for you, Mamori."

Mamori considered what she'd been told. "I still want to host this announcement on my show. I mean, wouldn't it be easier than trying to handle a network that isn't part of Fortuna?"

"It's touching that you want to help us so much, but can you make that kind of decision? It'd be bad if your producer rejected the proposal," Tsubasa pointed out.

"Oh, that's definitely not a problem!" Mamori exclaimed, smiling. "Ever since 'Open Mic-rowave' was added to the show, the producer has been a lot more agreeable to my suggestions!"

"I think that has less to do with the new segment and more to do with how you blew up at him," Itsuki said dryly, vividly recalling that occasion.

Ayaha giggled softly. "My little sister must be the luckiest girl in the world, to have so many supportive people in her life."

"It looks like Mamori isn't going to take no for an answer. Then I should probably call her producer," Itsuki said, already reaching for his phone. "Meanwhile, Kiria and Tsubasa should probably decide on how they want to make the announcement."

"Micorwavin with Mamorin has a set program. We definitely don't want to disrupt it," Kiria said. "Instead, we should integrate the announcement into the show."

"Should we use a script, then? Like, plan where in Mamori's show the announcement is going to take place, and what we're going to say," Tsubasa suggested. "The script could be something we all work on together too!"

"I think that maybe we should start discussion of that tomorrow," Ayaha said, gesturing to the window which showed that the sun had started to set. "That way, we'll all be rested."

While most of Fortuna left after that, Itsuki stayed in his office to call Mamori's producer, talk to him about having Kiria and Tsubasa on the show, and decide the air date of the announcement…

After ending the call, Itsuki let out a weary sigh. When the day began, he didn't expect to get entangled in an event that involved half of his friends. While they'd repeatedly discussed the risks of this plan, Itsuki still couldn't help but be worried.

"Can I even handle this?" Itsuki asked out loud to himself. "If I mess up, then so many of my friends are going to get hurt…"

Itsuki looked down at the phone in his hand, and had a stroke of inspiration. He felt too new at this to be able to handle such a large task. But he could talk with the previous president of Fortuna, the woman that had taught him everything about both the entertainment industry and being president: Maiko Shimazaki.

Itsuki dialed her number, and waited for her to pick up the call.

"My, Itsuki. This is quite the late hour for you to call me," Maiko said in a flirty tone. "Are you going to ask to come over?"

"Hello, Maiko. I apologize for the sudden phone call," Itsuki said, steadfastly ignoring what she actually said. "But there's something that I want your advice on."

To Maiko, Itsuki told every detail of what had happened over the course of the day, up to the plan to make a script that worked with Mamori's show.

"With your experience, I thought that you'd have a better idea of how to write this script," Itsuki said. "I don't think this is something I could do on my own."

"So that's why you called me." Maiko let out a thoughtful hum. "Well, how could I refuse a request from my adorable protege? I'll fax a script to Fortuna first thing tomorrow morning."

"Thank you very much!" Itsuki felt relieved that Maiko decided to help. "Then I'll go home now."

Itsuki was looking forward to sleeping, after what an unexpectedly busy day it had been.

The rest of the story will focus on the announcement that Tsubasa and Kiria have planned. However, TMS players might remember that no side story is ever simple, even if they don't have a battle. So cheer on the girls as they navigate this event. This has been Orion Fowl, and thank you for visiting my Corner of Romance.
