Hey guys, Striker777 here with the next chapter of Loki's Renard. This is part 2 of the four part mini-arc surrounding Akihide's introduction to the terrors of Evilus.

Roland Tepes: Thanks man. I love Alfia too. She's such an interesting character, and I'm excited to explore her more in this story, be sure to keep an eye out for the next few arcs because she plays a prevalent role in the events of the story.

razorhusky234: Thanks mate, just for you!

calderoneric758: Honestly, I was just putting in a random character, but that's an interesting idea. I think I'll take it and run.

Guest: Thanks mate!

Oysterkeeper: Thanks for the encouragement mate. I like characters that don't get a lot of attention in the original source material, which allows me to flush out a backstory for them. Take Airmid for example. In the main story, she's a well respected, highly accomplished level 2 healer with an amazing healing spell and deals with an annoying god whilst having feelings for said god's greatest rival. Now, she's a young girl raised by her god who she views as a father, wanting to help contribute to her Familia due to a great amount of respect and love for her god, willing to go to great lengths to accomplish her goals. Also, I have a few ideas about how I want Akihide's love life to be like, but I haven't finalised anything yet.

But anyway, onto the story.

Akihide looked on in wonder at the woman in black. She stood in front of him like a guardian angel, facing down the assassin that laid before her, blasted by whatever spell she cast. Her silver hair fluttered in the wind as the man slowly got back on his feet, blood spewing out of his mouth and eyes glaring at the woman. "Who the hell are you?!" he demanded, his face dripping blood onto the cracked road under him. "Do you stand in the way of the beauty of death as well? Are you another heretic like this boy?" he asked.

The woman simply sighed. "There's too much noise around here..." she muttered before turning to Akihide. "You there. You said something just now that I will not allow you to ever take back." she said, holding out her hand. "If you plan on wearing the title of hero, you better be prepared to work for it."

"Don't ignore me!" yelled Xaxa, rage in his voice. "I am the apostle of death and the purifier of souls! I follow the teachings as well as enact the vision of my god, the supreme lord of death, Lord Thanatos! I will not be subjected to the humiliation of being ignored by some harlot in a funeral dress who barges into things that have nothing to do with her!" yelled the man, in rage. But he was forced to take a step back as he felt pressure pressing down on him from seemingly out of nowhere. 'What the hell? Is this her? Is it her magic?' he asked himself, looking at the woman in the black and green dress in shock. 'There's so much of it... how can a human have this much magic?'

The woman turned to him. "You are of no interest to me, apostle of death." she said, getting an angry snarl from him. "My business is with the young child. Leave now if you value your life." she offered the man. However, before either could continue, Akihide spoke up.

"He'll hurt more people if he gets away." said the young boy, clutching Megami no Hana in his hands. "I can't let him hurt anyone else... I have to stop him now and save everyone... isn't that what it means to be a hero?" he asked the lady in black and green. She turned to him, still not having opened her eyes for a single moment since she got there. But he could see her begin to smirk.

"Right... how foolish of me..." said the woman, turning back to Xaxa. "It seems that offer is gone now. You'll have to forgive me, but this is the end for you. Time to purify your own soul in the heavens." she told the villain in a flat tone, beginning to charge her magic.

"The hell are you saying?" asked the murderous lunatic in confusion. "I have more work to do here. The souls of the people need to be liberated from their mortal prison and purified! I am not allowed to leave this mortal coil until I cleanse one million souls!" screamed the crazy man as he bought his sword up. "Prepare to face the full fury of a level 4 of the Thanatos Familia!"

The woman sighed. "You're far too noisy..." she muttered as she opened her eyes for the first time, showcasing them as a beautiful green and grey heterochromia eyes. "I hate noise, and I will eradicate anything that's too noisy." she said, somehow glaring at the man whilst keeping her eyes closed. "You've brought despair to these people, which in turn creates more noise. It's selfish of me, but all I want to do is to stop this place from being too noisy. So I'll kill you for my own sake, and the sake of others by extension."

Xaxa was not happy. "Like hell I'll let you!" he screamed as he rushed forward, aiming at Akihide with his rapier. The woman was quick to intercept, stepping in front of the boy and holding out a single hand.

"Lugio." she chanted, and watched as the area surrounding Xaxa was engulfed in flames and explosions. The man screamed in pain as he was sent flying back. Akihide quickly reacted as well, rushing forward to the man, and teleporting right next to him. He did not move to attack him however, knowing that it wouldn't work if he tried. So, he did the next best thing he could think of, and stole the man's weapon that had flown out of his hand.

"What the?!" demanded Xaxa as Akihide teleported to the rooftop with his weapon, and threw it down to the next street over. "You little bastard! I'll gut you for that!" yelled Xaxa at the young boy, before reaching into his cloak and pulling out a small knife. It was one the woman immediately recognised as a Magic Knife, which caused her a small headache. "DIE!" yelled the man as he slashed the red blade at her, allowing for fire to spew out of the knife as a magic spell. Xaxa chuckled as he believed he won. The knife was his ace, and actually helped him reach level 4 years prior.

"Ataraxia." responded the woman, watching the magic strike her, but not hit her, and didn't harm her in the slightest. "Meaningless... simply surrender yourself now, child of Thanatos, or die here and never see the sunset." she ordered, giving the man his last warning.

"Who the hell are you?!" the man demanded in pure rage. "No one should be this strong? Are you level 5, no, 6? Do you match 'The King' Ottar?"

The woman merely scoffed at the notion and pulled her hair back as it began to invade her face. "I am Alfia, 'The Silence', level 7 of the Hera Familia." said the woman, Alfia, as she continued to glare at the man. "Do you surrender now, knowing who you're up against?"

Xaxa was tempted. Very tempted. He knew he had no shot against this woman, but to go against the orders of his god was blasphemous. Neither was an option he was willing to accept. "I... I won't give up..." he said, reaching behind him and pulling out a small ball. "Here's hoping everyone around here has Abnormal Resistance in at least H! For your sake at least!" he called out as he slammed the ball onto the ground, erupting into purple smoke. Alfia clicked her lips and went to follow the man, but stopped when she saw Akihide begin to teleport people out the the way of the incoming poison cloud.

"He is a hero..." she muttered. She knew he was no hero yet, he didn't have the power to back it up. However, what he did have was the potential to be a hero. So, she followed in his footsteps and began moving people out of the fog. With her own Abnormal Resistance in E, she was completely unaffected by the poison, so she went in as Akihide began to cast his AoE healing magic, making sure to include Kaguya and Ryuu in the area of effect.

As the green light began to shine and the Torii gate appeared, Alfia watched as Akihide focused entirely on healing everyone. Even when he was on the brink of Mind Down, he powered through and continued to give it his all, healing most of the people of their major injuries before almost passing out, only holding on because Alfia appeared behind him and gave him a Mind Potion. "Be sure to keep your mind up. These people need your help until other healers can arrive." she said, getting an affirmative nod from Akihide, who continued to concentrate as Alfia gave him Mind Potions.

By the time reinforcements had arrived, in the form of Shakti the other 8 level 4s of the Ganesha Familia, Akihide had long since passed out, and Ryuu and Kaguya had yet to awaken. Alfia was also gone, but eye witness reports put her at the scene, shocking Orario that Alfia the Demon Beloved by Talent had returned to Orario, and was once more keeping the city safe as she had done so long ago with the rest of the Hera Familia. But it bought hope to the people. Hope that they could one day live in peace. With a level 7 on their side, Evilus was in for a hell of a lot more trouble.

But... the only problem was that no one knew where she was. She had simply vanished, as silent as the night.

Xaxa screamed in agony in the sewers, where his Familia had been set up for the last two years, right next to the entrance to Knossos that Daedalus created a thousand years ago. They were lucky enough to have Barca Perdix with their Familia, who's lineage to Daedalus allowed them to freely enter and leave Knossos, which they had been using to cultivate their power. However, Barca was currently working on Knossos, so Xaxa had no way of entering Knossos at the moment.

Fortunately, neither did Johnny.

"You know, I'd really rather be making poison out of these ingredients." complained the level 4 member of the Thanatos Familia. "You're lucky I like you enough to bother wasting ingredients on a healing potion rather than a poison for my daggers. Lord Thanatos' will is absolute and must be followed."

"I know, gods." muttered the injured man, still recovering after his 'fight' with Alfia the Silence. "Who knew Alfia of all people would be there. I mean, a level 7? The fuck am I meant to do about that?" he complained. "If those two had been there, things might've turned out differently..."

"I doubt that." said another, familiar voice. The two turned their attention to the north pipe, which revealed another member of their familia. "Even if Valletta and I were there, we can't do much against a level 7 like Alfia. We might all be first class adventurers, but she's in a class of her own."

"Really? You'd lose, Vassago?" asked Johnny, genuinely confused. "What about that new weapon Barca made for you? Mate Chopper, right? The cursed weapon that gets weaker as it kills monsters but stronger if you kill people. Even with that, you'd still lose?"

"Most definitely." replied Vassago immediately. "No way in hell I'd be able to stand up to Alfia the Silence with this weapon." he said, sighing. "I need to be at least level 6 if I want to stand a chance. Valletta won't like me going to the Dungeon and risking it, though. Too much risk of being followed back or dying out there. She'd be such a pain."

"Who cares what she thinks?" asked Xaxa, not too keen on his Familia's captain. "The captain she may be, but we follow your orders before hers, Vassago." said the red-eyed man. "The members of the Laughing Coffin Division will follow the Prince of Hell to his domain and back."

Vassago Casals smiled at his two subordinates. "We'll head to Floor 37 after you boys heal up. I want to get my stats into at least A before I rank up to level 6. Then all bets are off."

Xaxa and Johnny smiled at their boss from under their masks. "To the Colosseum we go then." they replied, smirking as they finish healing Xaxa with potions and make their way to the Knossos Gate.

"Will we be able to get strong enough for our plan, PoH?" asked Xaxa, looking at the gate and waiting for Barca to come and open it. "I mean, with everything we know now, especially that Alfia is back and as strong as ever, do we even stand a chance?" asked the red eyed man.

"Everything is going to be fine." responded Vassago, smirking at Xaxa. "Does the great Sterben fear the might of a woman such as Alfia?"

"A foolish man wouldn't." pointed out Xaxa. "A level 7, the strongest person in Orario and possibly the world, point me to a man with no fear and I'll point you to a fool."

The three men erupted in laughter as the doors opened, allowing them to step into the man-made Dungeon, Knossos.

Riveria looked down at the sleeping face of Akihide, cupping his cheek as he rested. After being afflicted with Mind Down, he had not woken up at all, having pushed himself far beyond his normal limits in order to heal the people he was in charge of saving. There was a report of 25 civilian casualties, but Akihide, Kaguya, Ardee and Ryuu had managed to stop a much worse fate from happening. There were visitors to the Twilight Manor, well wishers that Akihide protected or healed, bringing cards, flowers and the occasional gift, such as chocolate or small articles of cheap jewellery, probably the best they could afford given the current circumstances.

Riveria accepted it all on Akihide's behalf, promising to inform the young boy of all of their thanks and well wishes when he awoke. They were placed in a little pile in the corner of his room, long since having become too large for the small bedside table he had in his room. It was a mixed bag of feelings, a part of her being proud that Akihide saved so many lives, but an even larger part of her was mortified that he went up against a level 4 member of Evilus and lived to tell the tale.

It looked as though she owed Alfia the Silence one. The younger woman from the Hera Familia had been her sparing partner 5 years ago before she left to fight the One Eyed Black Dragon, and Riveria was never able to pull off a win against the Demon of Talent, despite her moniker of Nine Hell. Alfia was simply on another level, both metaphorically and literally. Riveria had worked hard for well over a decade to reach level 5, but in a single decade, Alfia managed to make her way to level 7. She wasn't even out of her teenage years when she reached her last rank up, but Riveria was getting close to 90 now. Not that she'd ever admit that.

Her thoughts drifted back to the child in his bed. She turned back to look at her sleeping face, noticing a small amount of drool beginning to pour out of the corner of his wide open mouth. She sighed, smirked, and rubbed his head before fetching her handkerchief from her pocket and caught the drool, causing the young boy to stir and roll over in his sleep. Riveria sighed as she left the dirty handkerchief on the bedside table, before returning to her own room to try and get some sleep herself. Slipping out of her robes and into her pyjamas, Riveria climbed into her bed and pulled the covers over herself, ready to go to bed for the night.

However, life had other plans as a few hours later, Riveria awoke to the sound of her door opening. Concerned that it was Loki trying once more to grope her in her sleep (yes, the red haired goddess had done that before, and yes, it was as fucked up as it sounded), Riveria reached for her staff, only to realise by the sound of the light footsteps that it was not Loki entering her room, but Akihide. Sighing, forcing herself to stay awake, she turned over to look at the boy. "Akihide, what's wro-"

She stopped herself when she saw the tears in his eyes, the eyes themselves red and puffy from crying. He was shivering, sobbing to himself as he looked up at Riveria in pleading. "M-Mama..."

Any other day, Riveria would have scolded him for calling her Mama, but her concerns, (much like a mama's), were more focused on the crying child. Throwing herself out of bed quickly, she scooped him up into her arms and hugged him tightly into his chest as he let everything out. He cried desperately into her warm embrace, staining her pyjamas with his tears. Riveria cooed, holding the boy close. "It's okay... It's okay... I've got you now..." she sang to the crying boy, before letting out one more comfort without realising it.

"Mama's got you..."

Akihide continued to cry into her shoulder, letting out a constant flow of tears as his shoulders shook with his sobs. "I-I..." he tried, his throat hoarse and gasping for air between the hiccups of his cry. "I... I..." he tried once more, failing to convey his message. He didn't need to, as Riveria held him close and continued to whisper in his ear that everything was going to be okay. Akihide could only cling to the hope that she had given him as he continued to cry. Soon enough, his eyes became too sore to continue crying, but his heart remained heavy and in pain, the hiccups between gasps still present as his hold on Riveria only seemed to grow even stronger. She simply accepted it, allowing him to hold her before he calmed down once more, finally collecting himself enough to talk.

"What's wrong?" asked Riveria, having placed one of her hands on his head and began running her hand through his hair.

"I... I ki-" Akihide tried to talk, his hoarse mouth irritating him and sending him into a fit of coughs and gasps as he tried to get air into his lungs once more. Riveria rubbed his back with her other hand as Akihide tried again. "I ki-killed... someone... people..." he eventually muttered out, desperate to try and get the heavy feeling on his heart to leave.

Riveria looked at the boy in pity. He was only seven. A seven year old, no matter who they were or what profession they were in, shouldn't have to kill someone. If he was an adventurer didn't matter, killing someone was killing someone. And for a small child who hadn't even begun to hit puberty yet, that could effective destroy them psychologically. Killing monsters was one thing, they were beasts of pure evil who wished for nothing but the destruction of mankind, but people were a different story. They had dreams and aspirations just like anyone else, and to take the life of someone like that, no matter the circumstances, was a horrifying experience.

Riveria pondered what to say, wondering if anything she said would be able to help him in this moment. "You helped a lot of people today." she replied with, continuing to run her hand through his hair as a sign of comfort. "A lot of them would be dead if it wasn't for you. They came by earlier to check on you and leave you presents." she said, hoping that knowing that there was some good that came out of his actions would help him process them healthily. "That pallum you saved gave you a card if I remember right."

Akihide looked up at that. Seemingly, knowing he saved people was working in making him feel better about ending the lives of those people. "You did a good thing, Akihide, and now those people get to live because of you. Be proud of that." said the high elf.

Akihide still seemed out of it, but better than before, so Riveria laid him down on her bed before climbing next to him and laying down herself. "We have a big day tomorrow, so get some sleep." she told him as she wrapped her arm around him in a small hug. Akihide hugged her back with everything in him, before the two drifted off to sleep.

The last thing Riveria heard before she fell back asleep herself was the quiet muttering of the boy in her arms. "Mama." he said.

'Mama' smiled as she drifted off to sleep once more.

Hope you guys enjoyed that chapter. Next one will be going more in-depth into Akihide's mental situation as a result of the lives he took. But until then, I have the next part of the Freya Familia Omake that I made a few chapters ago.

Omake : Akihide Okami - Vanadis Odr (2)

Dexterity: 53 (I)

Agility: 95 (I)

Freya smiled warmly at the child as she finished giving him his Falna. Ottar watched from the side of the room, interested in the boy who had seemed to garner Freya's attention. "Akihide Okami... welcome to the Freya Familia, officially." said the goddess as she gave the boy his status. "You have some points already allocated to your stats, even a H stat in magic. Good for you." she said in a kind voice as she grabbed his hand. "Be sure to use this power to prove you can stand alongside me." said the goddess.

Akihide nodded, as he turned to Freya. "Will I get strong enough to kill that snake?" he asked her with eagerness in his eyes. Freya smiled and nodded at the boy, getting him excited over the prospect of killing the snake that took his family from him.

"Now then, Akihide, we'll need to train you to beat that monster." said the goddess of beauty, standing up and motioning for Akihide to follow her. He did so, obediently, much like Ottar and every member of her familia. "To train you, you'll first need a weapon. You'll take your pick from what we have, and we'll begin training you." she said as she led him down the falls of Folkvagnr to the armoury. Opening the door, she led him inside. "Pick out which weapon suits you best, and then we can begin your training."

Akihide nodded as he took a look around at what the Freya Familia had to offer. From spears, to swords, axes and a shovel at one end, nothing stood out to Akihide as something he'd want to learn to fight. He wanted something from his homeland, a homage to where he came from and the past he left behind there to be reclaimed upon killing the snake.

That was when he laid eyes upon it. A lone weapon from his homeland, a naginata. The polearm called out to him, with it's black pole and silver blade, a piece of purple cloth hanging from the bottom of the blade. It sung to him, beckoned him, called him even. He wanted to use it and make it his own. So, he took the spear in his hands, feeling a sense of pride wash over him as he held it. This was it. This was his weapon.

Freya took notice of this and smiled once more. "Ah, good choice. Allen should be able to help you in using that. I'll get him to give you some lessons before we have you fight against the others. Let's go find him now so we can start your training immediately.

Akihide liked this idea a lot, and followed his goddess out with a smile on his face, searching for the cat person who would become his teacher.

That was fun to write. Anyway, I'll catch you guys next time, and for now, this is Striker777, over and out.
