[A/N] - Gueeeeeeeeesssssss who is back with yet another story...That's right, me! ^^

I am sorry but I happened to see Secrets of Dumbledore and then got obsessed with the whole fandom all over again. I found out my past stories and my ADHD quickly hyperfocused me on them once again, after of course searching the internet thoroughly for other stories to read and also get inspired.

The result? This (hopefully) masterpiece came mostly from the crazy imagination of my mind. I hope you guys like it and let me know what you think in the comments, also do not forget to vote!

P.S. I have changed some things and mostly the years of Newt's trips before the first movie and I might change the timeline between the movies as well. I mostly do it to have more space for more chapters, adventures and character developments.

The Love story will be slow as I like to keep my characters as Canon as Possible and Newt is quite the unique case. More and more clues will slowly come up about my OC and her past, so remember to stay tuned until the very end ^^

P.S.S I will try to update this story often and I will also focus on my other stories as well. I have not forgotten about them. I try to work little by little on all of them or as many as I can focus on.

Summary:

When Newt Scamander started to travel the world in search of fantastic beasts, he never expected to meet someone like him; a self-taught runaway witch, with a soft spot for magical beasts and a love for travels. It all started when they partnered up to protect a Dragon and her egg from a group of poachers. Before they knew it, they began to travel together with their common goal.

Through their trips and adventures, Amina started to fall more for the loyal Hufflepuff and she often felt that he was too oblivious to her feelings for him. Yet, all that will change during a mission given to them by Dumbledore; which will send them eventually to New York.

What started as a mission to save and release a Thunderbird, ended up with them taking part in a secret war against an Obscurus boy and eventually a war against the rising new villain named Gellert Grindelwald.

It had been less than a year since Newt left the Ministry of Magic to explore the world and meet all kinds of fanatic and magical creatures. Well, it was not a planned trip but the life with the ministry and his "failure" to make Ironbellies take commands from everyone, did pursue him to take a break.

During that break, he decided to travel and explore more of the magical world. His fascination with all those beasts that had barely been studied had started from a young age but it was now in his early 20s that he had the chance to fully chase his dreams.

While on a budget, he decided to visit Romania. There, a group of anti-poachers requested hands to help them protect a female Romanian Longhorn and her egg from poachers that tried to capture both; and they were paying good enough to those willingly joining their cause.

Newt sat on the ground, further away from the small group of wizards that had enlisted to help for the right amount of money. Of course, he would do it for free if it meant saving a poor animal but he was low on money and thus, he did not mention anything else.

His expertise earned him a spot right in but it seemed like he was the only one caring about the well-being of the animal in general.

He played with his spoon, barely having touched his food. His mind for the past two days had only been on the dragon and he wished more than anything to just start roaming and search for the animal.

"You are not a very social lad, are ya now," a voice said as the leader of this small team started to approach him.

His name was Augustus and he was a middle-aged man with a limp, although no one truly knew how he obtained it. His face was tanned from the sun and so were his arms, brown spots on different parts of his skin as the result of it.

He had a small belly but amongst everyone else, he seemed to be at least the one with a decent amount of knowledge compared to the others.

"Just didn't see a reason to participate" Newt admitted, not looking the man in the eye.

The man sat down across from him, not bothered by his lack of eye contact. "I see that look on ya eyes, lad. You thirst for adventure" he said and the young wizard did not comment. "I used to be like ya, once. Sometimes, I still wish I could be like ya...young and with a functioning leg" he joked and laughed on his own, making Newt feel even more nervous and of course, awkward. "Oh well, get ready for tomorrow. We will leave early in search of traps those poacher bastards lay" he said and patted his shoulder before standing up and limping away.

Newt was stiff, just sitting there and not having enjoyed the physical touch at all. He tried to ignore that feeling and he let his bowl down, not truly in the mood to eat anything at all.

He simply lay on the ground and with one hand behind his head; he looked at the night sky deep in thought. Before he knew it, he had fallen asleep.

The sound of wings flapping and the distant roar of a dragon were the first things that awoke him from his slumber. He opened his eyes and looked around him, although the darkness did not truly help much.

The sun had yet to rise and his companions were deep asleep, oblivious to the roaring sound that was repeated. He wasted no time to grab his wand.

"Lumos" he whispered and a white glow was emitted from one end.

He got up and carefully walked further and further away from their little campsite, the fire they had made had long died since no one took care of it.

He tried to make as little sound as possible and once he was further away from them, he started to sprint. With his wand light for some guidance, he started to follow the roar that got repeated for a third time before it stopped.

Yet, he kept a straight course and continued running as fast as his legs could carry him. Eventually, he had to stop to catch his breath and try to find clues as to where to go next.

Looking around him, he realised he had somehow moved across the plains and towards one of the mountains. Looking up, he noticed the glow of a wand, which was using Lumos, that quickly disappeared behind a corner.

He brought his wand forward and looked around before he found some sort of ledge that was leading up and around the mountain. He carefully walked on it, more than once ending up with his foot slipping but he kept his balance as he continued his way.

Eventually, he managed to reach the place he saw the glow and came face to face with a path that led deeper into the mountain.

Any logical person would have turned away and most likely called for backup but not him. He had to find out and so, he chose to walk forward.

He followed the path that seemed to lead him into some sort of cave. Further down the distance, he noticed the glow of fire and the sound of men talking and laughing reached his ears.

"Nox" he whispered and let the light die down in order not to give himself away.

He then continued walking forward, careful not to make any sound with his shoes. Eventually, he hid behind a boulder and peeped above it.

Deeper into the cave, five poachers had taken camp. Different magical traps lay around them but what got his attention were two things. First, it was the green scaly dragon egg they had on top of some clothes. Secondly, was the young woman that was held prisoner by ropes, covering her mouth and keeping her hands and legs trapped and wrapped.

"Man, can't wait to catch that little beastie," one poacher said as he took off his gloves and shoes, leaning his back on the cave wall.

"Catch it, kill it...means nothing to me. I just want to sell that damn egg and retire" another man said, grabbing a flask from his pocket and taking a sip.

A third man, the one standing in the closet to the girl glanced at her. "Speaking of money, how much do you think she will get?" He asked and pointed with his thumb at the young woman, who was busy glaring at them with hatred in her blue eyes.

The first man laughed. "A non-magical woman? Doubt it can catch match but yet again, she is a real beauty so you never know"

The men laughed and the flask was passed around, each person taking a sip of some good alcohol.

"Non-mag knows how to make good alcohol," the fourth poacher said as he passed the flask to the fifth one, who refused. "Suit yourself," he said and took another sip.

Newt watched them talk, quickly realizing that those men were the poachers they had to stop. They had already taken the egg and the roars he heard should be the mother looking for it.

He could not pinpoint the reason the girl was present and was unsure that she was as helpless and magical as the men thought of her to be. Yet again, she didn't seem to be some sort of witch or she would have a wand on her. At least had a wand that would have been taken from her when she would get caught.

He was thinking of a plan when the fifth poacher that had refused to drink, stood up and started to walk towards the exit of the cave.

"Hey, where are you going?" One of the poachers asked him.

"To piss. Why, do you want to join me?" He asked rhetorically, speaking with a quite deep voice.

"Get lost, will you" was the reply he got.

The man walked past Newt, not truly noticing him since he doubted anyone would be able to sneak into their cave and remain undetected.

With one poacher less, Newt had a better chance to take down the rest four...well three; for one of them had already passed out and was busy snoring.

Getting ready, Newt barely had to whisper his next spell. "Bewitched Sleep"

One by one, the other three poachers were quickly put into a deep slumber before they could be alerted by his presence.

Once he was done, Newt was quick to come out of his hiding place and march towards the egg. The muffled cries of someone reminded him of the trapped girl that was not far away from him and the Dragon egg.

"Oh, right. Sorry, forgot you for a moment" he said and used his wand to release her from her bonds.

Once free, the young woman quickly stood up and protruded a wand from thin air. That spell was something that he had never seen before but while he was fascinated by it, he realised he had a wad pointed at him.

"Step away from the egg," the girl said, a slight non-European accent clear in her voice.

Newt quickly lifted both hands in the air, wanting to show that he did not wish to harm her. "I am only here for the egg. I am here to stop the poachers from taking it" he said; head cast slightly to the side as he avoided eye contact.

The woman lifted an eyebrow at his peculiar behaviour but said nothing. "Yeah, to stop them so you can sell the egg yourself" she accused, taking a step towards him.

Newt was forced to take a step back. "I mean no harm to anyone...especially to the animal"

"Well, you caused enough harm by showing up. You ruined my plan" the woman said, lowering her wand in frustration. "I had it all under control. I let those idiots catch me so when they would find the dragon, I would break free and stop them for good...until you showed up and put them to sleep" she hissed, moving both her free hand but also the hand with the wand as she talked to while trying to keep her voice low and not wake up the only poacher that was not under the sleeping charm.

"I am sorry... I didn't realise it" Newt said and the witch seemed not to truly hold any grudge or at least anger against him. "But I truly want to help the she-dragon. I heard her roars. She is looking for that egg and she must be heartbroken"

His words made her lift an eyebrow, surprised to hear someone speak so empathically about a powerful and deadly magical beast. Something in those blue eyes of his and the way he talked about the dragon, made her see that he truly did not have anything selfish in his mind or heart.

"Hey! What's going on?!" A heavy voice echoed across the cavers, as the last poacher had returned.

"Shit" the woman cursed and quickly pushed Newt down as a spell was thrown and missed them and the egg by inches. "Glacius!" She said and aimed her wand at the floor between them and the poachers.

Ice quickly started to form and in seconds, a thick block of ice had formed some sort of temporary wall that kept the poachers away from them.

"Grab the egg and let's go," she said and the moment Newt took the egg, she grabbed his wrist and started to sprint deeper into the cave.

"The...exit is the other way..." he said, trying his hardest to catch up and avoid tripping on any rocks or losing his grip on the egg.

"Not necessarily," the woman said as they eventually came to a halt when they faced a dead end. "Take a step back," she said and with her free hand, she motioned for him to do as he was told. "Bombarda!" A loud explosion took place, rocks flying everywhere and a cloud of dust rising. They coughed and tried to protect their watery eyes as slowly the dust cloud started to subside. "Sorry about that," she said and only then did Newt notice that she had made a decent opening.

They were on the other side of the mountain and ironically, there was a descent path that could lead them down. Before the woman could start sprinting again, he raised his free hand.

"Wait, what is your name?" He asked.

It was then that he took a better look at her features under the rays of the rising sun. Her skin had a natural tanned hue and her hair was a nice shade of brown, luscious curls falling on her front and back.

Her eyes had a mixture of green and blue, making it impossible for one to truly pinpoint them to a single eye colour. She had a simple white shirt on that had turned yellow from dust and time and a pair of brown pants.

"My name is Amina Fadel" she introduced herself.

"I am Newt...Newt Scamander"

Amina smiled at him. "Well Newt, let's go return that egg to its mother" she said, her smile turning into a grin.

Newt could not help but smile faintly, giving a nod to his head before the two of them took the Narrow path down.
