Chapter 26: Morioh

March, 1999

Two young men in their mid to late 20's were riding a cab to Morioh, a town in northeastern Japan. One of them was very tall and muscular in stature and wore a white attire, the other one was of above average height and build and wore a green attire. They were travelling there for business purposes.

"Wow, the countryside sure is beautiful. I wish I came here beforehand." the second man commented, staring outside the window and enjoying the view.

He was Kakyoin Noriaki, 28 years old. Just over 10 years ago, he took part in the expedition for the extermination of DIO, an evil vampire, to help the Joestar family. Back then, he was just a teenager, but a lot had changed in that time. After returning home, he graduated from high school and enrolled in a prestigious university thanks to a scholarship financed by the Speedwagon Foundation. 6 years and a PhD later, he officially joined the Japan division of said Foundation. Despite his young age and relatively short time of employment there, he already held a very high position in the organization. If the speed at which he rose the ranks continued at that pace, he'd become Vice President before hitting 30 and President before hitting 40.

"Right, I agree. Though I don't believe we'll be staying for long."

The other man was Kujo Jotaro, also 28 years old. He too had gone to university after graduating from high school, but he studied overseas in America and became a marine biologist. Like his best friend, he went there for business purposes. But in his case, it also was a family matter.

"Oh, I'm sure we will." Kakyoin disagreed, bearing a faint smile.

"What makes you think that?" Jotaro questioned.

"Just a gut feeling." Noriaki responded.

"Yare yare… We'll see about that."

XXXXXXXXXX

After their ride had come to an end, they were standing in the town center, preparing to proceed to their destination.

"Hey, you there." the redhead called out to a short teenager, asking for his attention.

Said teen raised his head, looking over to that direction. Before he could respond, he first stepped to the side. Had he not done so, the man in green's tall partner who was busy staring at a map would've bumped into him.

"Uh, how can I help you?" the boy asked, a bit timid.

He carefully eyed these two strange men he never saw before. One of them was extremely tall, looking to be over 190 cm and very buff. That man had piercing bluish green eyes and a strong jawline. The man had black hair, but it had a seamless border with his white cap-like hat with golden details. Other than his cap, the man's other clothes, an unbuttoned long coat jacket with slightly rolled up sleeves, a simple t-shirt and pants, were also all white with golden details. The other man, less tall and muscular, had red hair with a hair noodle and wore similar clothes as his partner, except the coat was buttoned up with normal sleeves and green instead of white.

"Do you know a family by the name 'Higashikata'? We intend to visit them."

That kid, a 15-year-old high school freshman called Hirose Koichi, nervously shook his head. "'Higashikata'? Hmm… I'm not sure. This town is kinda big, there's around 53000 people living here, you know…"

"I see." Jotaro then joined the conversation, looking at a notebook. "Then how about this address? Number 6 Jouzenji Road?"

"Hmm… Yeah! I know." Koichi offered to tell, pointing towards a road. "You can go to Jouzenji Road pretty quickly by taking the number 3 bus at that stop over there."

"Alright, thanks."

The two were about to leave, but then a group of delinquents entered the scene.

"Hey, freshman! Shouldn't you be greeting your seniors?"

"Goodbye, senior!" the freshman immediately greeted, bowing to his seniors out of fear.

"Hmph… Well done."

"…"

While the delinquents didn't say anything two the adults, partially because they didn't know them, they still gave them dirty looks. Though the Joestar's massive height and build did discourage them from acting up.

"…"

"Eh, let's go."

After they walked away for a bit, Koichi wanted to reassure these two a little. "It's fine. Those guys are heading to the number 5 bus. That's in a different direction."

Not that they were scared of a handful punks, but the duo acknowledged that information with a nod.

Meanwhile, those punks were ganging up on another student near a fountain in the back. There also was a green turtle slowly walking on the edge of the fountain.

"What the heck are you doing here?!"

"Who do you think you are?!"

Their target was a squatting teenager about the same age as Koichi, but much taller and mature looking. His defining feature was a pompadour that really stood out.

"Well, I was… This turtle seems like it just woke up from hibernating… And you see, I don't really like turtles. Actually, I'm kind of scared of them… So, well I was thinking it would be cool if I could overcome my fear…"

That boy just started awkwardly spurting random nonsense, which sounded goofy to both the seniors and those overhearing them.

"I'm not asking about that! Stand up, moron!"

Clearly, the older students were annoyed with him.

Listening to their order, the teen did get up from his squat, fully revealing his true size. Despite being their junior, the height difference was clear. On top of that, he lost his previously nervous look in his eyes, which were a rare purple.

"Heh, you're pretty tall for a freshman." the delinquent leader commented.

"Hey idiot, is that how you look at your seniors?" the number two delinquent complained, addressing that defiant look. "Probably think you were shit in middle school, huh?"

Keeping in memory what the pompadour teen had earlier told about the turtles, the lead delinquent picked up said turtle and held it in front of him, intimidating the freshman. "You gotta greet us first if you're comin' to our school!"

Defensively putting his hands in front of him, palms first, the boy showed some fear. "H-Hey, stop… I don't really like reptiles… Well, I'm scared of them…"

Having enough of the junior's antics, the senior group's leader decided to take action.

"Goddamn! That ain't funny!" he yelled, slapping the younger student in the face to discipline him.

The pompadour boy took the slap with a straight face, staying calm. Without fighting back, he bowed and apologized. "I'm really sorry! I didn't know that's how things worked in this school!"

"Some kids got sent to the hospital right after saying that, 'I didn't know'." the group leader let him know. "Just like… You and this turtle…"

Suddenly, he performed the shocking act of chucking the turtle at a concrete pillar for no reason, causing it serious injuries. Its shell cracked into pieces and it started bleeding. While the animal was silent, it most probably was in severe anguish.

"You wanna end up like this?! Huh?!"

Kakyoin and Jotaro, from the sidelines, wanted to intervene, which they would have if they still were high school students, but avoided getting into trouble while on the job.

Similarly, the shouted at boy responded with calmness, silently disapproving the senseless animal cruelty but not confronting the bully about it.

"Oh my…" Koichi couldn't stay silent, though. He actively expressed what was appalling to him.

Following this brief but crazy act, the delinquent leader decided to wrap up his intimidation.

"Tch! You better behave yourself. We'll let you go this time…" he warned, trying to make himself look merciful. "Take off your school uniform and scram! Also, you gotta pay us your respects in cash."

"Yes! I'm really sorry!" the junior accepted the terms with a straight face, bowing once more.

Reacting to the students from a distance, the newcomers voiced their opinions to Koichi.

"Eh, he deserved it. If you don't wanna get unnecessary attention, you stop dressing like that. And that hair…" Jotaro criticized, totally having the right to tell someone off for having an unusual hairstyle. "I'm rather pissed at the kid as well. The turtle got killed and he didn't do a thing about it."

"I can see why you're pissed." Noriaki said, referring to his best friend's profession. Those punks were lucky the jacked Stand user marine biologist was busy with his mission. Furious about the innocent turtle getting smashed, the redhead refrained from making a funny comment about hair.

Meanwhile, the delinquents were questioning their target.

"Hey pussy, what's your name?"

"I'm class 1-B's Higashikata Josuke." the boy politely answered, bowing again.

Upon hearing that name, Jotaro's expression went serious. "Huh? Did he just say… Higashikata Josuke?"

Kakyoin placed his hand on his partner's shoulder, smirking a tiny bit. "Heh, what good luck. That spares us the ticket fee."

Back with the rowdy students, they were also interested in that name.

"'Josuke', how do you spell it?" one of them questioned, inquiring about the Kanji.

Josuke lent them his student ID card, letting them read the Kanji of his name.

"'suke' as in like how you write 'help'…" one of them read out loud, letting his friends know.

"Then we'll call you JoJo from now on, Josuke!" one of them decided.

"Well, thank you very much…" Josuke thanked, actually finding his new nickname not too bad.

However, the following moment, the group leader who was being the least friendly to Josuke, abruptly ruined the mood that had just been somewhat deescalated.

"Hey, hurry! Take off your clothes! The bus is coming." the lead delinquent ordered in a threatening tone, then making a big mistake. "If you don't hurry up, I'm gonna shave your stupid-looking haircut!"

"Oi senpai, what the fuck did you just say about my hair?!"

"Huh?!"

The pompadour boy's sudden change in tone took them by surprise. They had no idea what was about to happen.

Behind Josuke, a right arm manifested itself. It was a big and muscular arm that was pink and silver in color.

Though it charged right at the punk leader, he didn't dodge, nor did he panic. For he couldn't see anything.

"…!"

'That's a Stand!'

They widened their eyes in surprise at the Stand's speed.

A relatively invisible fist was driven into the delinquent boss' face, breaking his nose and drawing blood. The punk's nose piercing was even ripped off the nose.

"AAAAAAH!"

Due to the impact, the delinquent leader was sent flying and crashed into his friends who yelled out in pain.

"My nose! My noooooooose!" The punk's fractured nose was bleeding like a fountain. He desperately tried to stop the bleeding, covering it with his hands.

His hair having been insulted, Josuke wasn't going to let him off with just that.

"I don't give a fuck if you're a senior… If you trash my hair, I'll kill you…" the pompadour boy let him know, the rude delinquent finding out the hard way. "What was that again? Think my hair looks stupid? Like Sazae-san's maybe?"

"Wait! I didn't say that at all!" the punk leader tried to defend himself, but his words fell on deaf ears.

"I heard it, bastard!" Josuke then stomped on his head, increasing the damage.

"NOOOOOOOOO!"

In response to this, the other delinquents who were still on the ground rapidly put some distance between themselves and the mad junior, having learned to fear him.

"He certainly used his Stand now. I saw something come out of his back."

"No doubt about that. It seems to be a close-ranged power type of Stand."

The veteran Stand users exchanged their observations telepathically.

"Oh!"

Meanwhile, Koichi witnessed something incredible and couldn't contain his disbelief. He saw Josuke picking up the severely injured turtle that was doomed to die. Just by doing so, the reptilian was miraculously healed.

"Weird… The turtle's fine. Its shell was really messed up, wasn't it done for?" He sweated and shook while making that observation.

"Urgh…"

At the same time, the injured delinquent's face also got healed. All the bleeding wounds closed up and the broken nose got restored.

"Look! His nose changed back to normal!" One of his friends pointed out in awe. "His broken nose was pissing blood just now! And it's already healed!"

"Hey, look!" A more observant friend however noticed something off. "How strange, he looks different from before."

While the punk teen never had a pretty face, his looks just got considerably worse. While his nose was now healed, its shape looked different from before it was broken. Now it resembled a pig's nose.

"Damn… I actually touched the turtle when I really didn't want to… Bluh!" the Stand using teen complained, disgusted and angry. "You made me touch that goddamn turtle! Now how do you want to die?"

Having discovered the boy's strength and what happens if one pissed him off beyond a certain point, the delinquents were very much afraid of further reprisal. They saw what happened to their friend, and they sure didn't want the same thing happening to themselves. So they got scared and immediately turned around, running away.

"HEEEELP MEEEE!" they screamed, fleeing as fast as they could.

"Wait! What happened to my nose…?" their leader followed them, having another bigger worry. "Hey… Hey!"

With the unpleasant folks gone, the onlookers waited and stayed quiet for a brief while, letting the scene calm down.

"Hmm… So he's the one related to the old man…" Jotaro broke the silence, a serious look on his face. "Looks like we found the guy we were looking for."

Josuke, only now noticing the newcomers' presence, made eye contact with the taller one. "Huh, this guy looks a bit like me…"

"Heh, so he noticed you." Noriaki whispered to his partner, excited to see how they'd interact.

"What are you looking at?" the unruly teen questioned in an unwelcoming tone, mainly directed towards the taller stranger.

They were staring at each other with some distance between them, both sides remaining silent for a while. There was tension in the air, with both parties ready for an altercation but not carelessly approaching, trying to gauge each other's strength first.

Many seconds, no sound. Koichi was starting to feel uncomfortable. He told these two men their desired address, which wasn't even necessary anymore due to their target already being present. And yet he was frozen, captivated even, his interest in these people making him stay there.

Though very soon, the high tension was broken awkwardly with the turtle in the fountain making a loud splash and Josuke rapidly turning his head around, making a scared and comical face.

"Holy shit!" he exclaimed, startled. A goofy expression was on his face. "Jeez… That turtle again!"

"Higashikata Josuke, born in 1983. Your mother's name is Tomoko, she was 21, at the time studying at the university in Tokyo." Jotaro suddenly started talking, drawing back the distracted Josuke's attention. "You've lived here since you were born. In 1987, when you were 4 years old, you had a severe fever due to an unknown illness for 50 days. You almost died."

Listening to this man talking about him so detailed, without ever having met before, the boy was quite baffled.

"Your father's name is…" Jotaro was about to reveal, but hesitated, finding it harder to tell than he'd initially thought.

"…Joseph Joestar." the redhead finished for him.

"…"

Josuke, not knowing what to do with this information, just quietly stared on, still very perplexed.

"Joseph is currently 79 years old. He's still healthy, but when he tried sorting his inheritance, we got your name on the list. A name he didn't recognize." Jotaro took back the lead speaking role, no longer having to deal with the hard part. "The old dumb bastard… saying 'I love only my wife' like a saint. What the fuck… I finally find your son for you, you fickle…"

Kakyoin then nudged his friend with his elbow, telling him to cut out the unnecessary last part with a glance.

"Sorry, I said too much." He did read the mood, becoming serious again. "My name is Kujo Jotaro. I'm officially your nephew. Sound strange, though…"

"And I'm Kakyoin Noriaki." Noriaki also introduced himself. "A friend of your father and an employee of the Speedwagon Foundation, which is deeply connected to the Joestar family."

"Nephew…?" This was much to take in for Josuke. He wasn't ready for this. "Oh well… Nice to meet you."

The whole time, Koichi felt like he was listening in on private matters, but he couldn't help him, as these people were so mysterious and had a bizarre feel to them.

"So you'll get one third of his inheritance soon." Jotaro informed. "I came here to tell you about this on his behalf. He and his family are in serious trouble right now about this affair."

"Really?" the extramarital son asked, a worried look on his face. His nephew's stoic expression only made him more concerned. "Serious trouble… Is that bad?"

"Yeah. Grandma Suzie Q is furious for the first time in 61 years of marriage." Jotaro told with a smirk.

Suddenly, Josuke bowed again like he did with the seniors surrounding him. "I am so sorry about all of this! It's all my fault!"

"What's up with you?" The nephew cringed. "Why are you apologizing?"

"Well… I mean… If the family is in trouble, it's all my fault." Josuke tried to explain himself, stuttering a bit. "My mother was seriously in love with him and raised me herself, and I'm okay with that. You don't really have to worry about us. My father… Uh… Joestar-san? Tell him we're fine."

"How upright…" the redhead commented, positively taken aback by the selflessness of this teen. To be so thoughtful of supposed family he's never even met. And he also felt admiration for that mother, raising such a strong but polite son by herself.

"…"

Likewise, Jotaro was similarly surprised. 'What kind of guy is he?! I came here in the old man's place thinking that he was going to fight me, but he's apologizing… I'm surprised. He's quite mature, I guess…'

Right then, a new group of people entered the scene.

"Josuke~ 3!"

"Josuke~ 3!"

"Josuke~ 3!"

"Josuke~ 3!"

4 teenage girl, high schoolers to be exact, came along. Just like the delinquent punks earlier, they surrounded the pompadour boy.

"Josuke, how are you?"

"Let's go home together~!"

"Your hair looks nice today~~"

"Oh, you look so cool~"

"You're so cool~"

Unlike the group of males earlier, they had a friendly, positive and cheerful air around them.

"…"

Though one person didn't appreciate their presence, thinking of them as loud and annoying.

Noticing that his partner was getting pissed off, Kakyoin was intending to resolve this matter in a delicate manner.

"Girls, girls." He talked to them in a gentle tone, grabbing their attention. "At the moment we two have important matters to discuss with Josuke here. Would you mind leaving us alone for a moment?"

"…What?"

"Who are these men?"

"I don't know, but they're kinda hot…"

"Yeah…"

Now they were busy getting their cheeks red, charmed by him like many other women and girls.

"Hey, go away." Jotaro then ordered, pointing with his right hand, gesturing them to leave. "You can talk about his stupid hair later."

At this moment, the atmosphere became tense and dramatic.

"Oh no!"

"…!"

"You… You just said something you should never say!"

Koichi and these girls were alarmed, knowing what was going to happen.

"You bastard!" Josuke turned his head around, looking the one who insulted his hair angrily in the eyes. "What the fuck did you just say about my hair?!"

"Did you forget what transpired just a few minutes ago?" Noriaki reminded, surprised that Jotaro made the same mistake as that delinquent group boss.

The others in the vicinity weren't so collected like the redhead though.

"Oh no! He's done for!"

"Oh god oh god oh god!"

"Josuke hates people who insult his hair!"

"He just doesn't understand how cool you are!"

"Yeah!"

After Jotaro finally realized what he did was stupid, he tried to defuse the situation. "Hold on a second Josuke, I was just-"

He held his words after he realized that Josuke was going to ignore him and summon his Stand.

Jotaro then ordered [Star Platinum] to attack, punching Josuke before the latter attacked him. Upon impact, Josuke threw up some blood and was knocked down. All Stand-less onlookers were confused by this seemingly sudden happening.

"Do you see this, Josuke?" Jotaro asked, a fully manifested [Star Platinum] next to him on display. "This is a [Stand]. Stands are the physical manifestation of one's spirit. Kakyoin has one, Joseph has one too. Only those who have a Stand can see other Stands. You've had this ability since you were 4 years old."

While Josuke had listened to every word, he also ignored the topic, something else on his mind. "I won't let anyone talk trash about my awesome hair! I don't know why I'm this pissed. I guess I just can't help it."

"Damn… This is going to be tough…"

Once fully back on his feet, Josuke manifested the entirety of his Stand. It was pink and silver in appearance, looking both organic and armored. It looked quite similar to DIO's [The World], having human-like eyes and a human-like mouth with teeth, heart motifs on various parts and even diver motifs. Also, it was just as muscular.

'So this is Josuke's Stand!'

Out of the two who watched, one was intrigued and happy that his earlier assessment was proven correct. The other one was worried and under lots of pressure, knowing he was forced to fight a physical powerhouse not unlike [The World], one who wasn't going to hold back to boot.

"DORARARARAAAAAA!"

Josuke immediately attacked with a barrage of fists. Jotaro, visibly surprised by that Stand's speed, ordered his own Stand to put up a guard. Though faster than he thought it would, his guard was broken.

"What?!" Jotaro couldn't believe it. He was wide-eyed. "So strong… It managed to break [Star Platinum]'s guard!"

"Holy… That's a true force to be reckoned with." the redhead assessed, quite surprised. "To think his Stand's about equal to [Star Platinum] in terms of speed and strength… That's Joestar blood alright."

The pompadour boy grinned widely, getting very confident in his victory. "Ha! Good punch… But not good enough! Your face is wide open!"

"DORARARAAA!"

He was about to strike the finishing blow, aiming right at the middle of his opponent's face.

Going beyond millisecond accuracy, Jotaro saw the opposing Stand's fist approach his face. He narrowed his eyes, knowing he was in danger. So much, that he was actually forced to use his special power, the one that was basically a cheat code surpassing all fairness in a direct physical duel.

[Star Platinum: The World]

Avoiding getting struck at the last moment, he stopped time for a few seconds, placing himself behind Josuke before letting time flow again.

When time resumed, almost all onlookers got confused.

"How did you…?!" Josuke called, turning his head around in disbelief after his Stand swung at nothing, when it theoretically should've hit Jotaro in the face.

"What happened?!"

"I didn't see him move!"

"How is this possible?!"

Those without Stands were even more confused than the Stand user Josuke.

"Ah, I see what you did there." Kakyoin realized almost instantly, winking at his friend in understanding.

'It's been a while… I haven't stopped time in 10 years.' Jotaro thought, his eyes intense and his skin sweating.

For 10 years, he put a moratorium on [Star Platinum]'s ability. Not only did he never need it, since he hadn't fought any battles, but its use was also taxing on his heart. That was the reason why as a human he could stop time for 5 seconds at the longest, while DIO, as a vampire with an immortal body, managed to do it for more than double the length. Because he hadn't used it for so long, he became rusty at it. This stoppage barely lasted half a second.

'I wasn't going to lose, but one of us was going to get hurt badly if this continued…' he reasoned, grasping the level of danger. 'Josuke's Stand…'

He just found out what it could do. Not from watching, but from experiencing the power himself. His hat, which the Stand managed to hit before time was stopped, was now deformed. Its shape was nothing like it was previously.

'My hat? It's changing shape!' Jotaro observed, touching his deformed cap. 'What would have happened if he had hit my face or head…'

Enough reason to worry, and enough reason to stop this bout at once.

"He did what?" Josuke asked, not knowing how Jotaro did what he did.

However, as wary of his uncle as he was, Jotaro didn't see it all negatively. 'He's a scary guy… But if I can overcome his unreasonable personality, he'll make a powerful ally.'

The next moment, Jotaro took a swing at Josuke's cheek, making him spit out blood and knocked him down once more.

"Oh my god!"

"Josuke!"

"No!"

"Josuke!"

"Are you hurt?"

In response to the violence, the girls started screaming and making a loud fuss.

Unlike before, when they were speaking normally, Jotaro now had enough. His old habit kicked in.

"Shut up! I hate girls who scream! Get out of here!"

Getting told off this hard, the girls immediately ceased their yelling.

"Fine…"

Letting out a hearty chuckle, Noriaki lightly shook his head. "Heh, I guess some things never change."

Not wanting to get shouted at again, the girls chattily walked away. They weren't all too upset though, since the man who told them to leave was attractive to them. On the other hand, Koichi stayed.

'I have no idea what's going on, but something is definitely happening!' He was startled by these weird happenings and even a bit scared for not understanding, but more than anything, he was captivated and too curious to stay away, wanting to learn and see more.

Now that the fight was over, they could talk in peace again. The redhead extended his hand to the pompadour, offering to help him get back up. The latter kindly refused, standing up by himself.

"Hey Josuke, we came to see you for 2 reasons. We've already talked about the first one, about you being a member of the Joestar family." Jotaro started explaining anew.

"And the other one is this." Kakyoin continued, pulling a couple of photographs out of his coat pocket. "This picture."

He showed them to Josuke, letting him take a good look. "Look at this picture. Joestar-san took this picture with his Stand."

On the first, dark photograph, a bluish face was pictured. It looked non-human but humanoid, as it belonged to a Stand. Its facial features were grotesque and evil-looking.

"Something is hiding in this town. We're warning you… Something dangerous is coming."

Josuke then looked at the other photos. On those, a middle-aged, unfriendly looking man was depicted.

"He is… In my town?" Josuke didn't know who that was, so he didn't quite get the bad feeling a knower would get.

"Grandpa wanted to take a picture of you, to see what you looked like." Jotaro explained. "But he appeared on it instead. We're not sure why."

"…"

"Well, I'm sure this has nothing to do with you, but just so you know… You better watch your back."

"You're probably asking yourself what's going on." Noriaki said, addressing Koichi. "But if you ever see him… Stay away alright? He's really dangerous and calling the police won't help."

This information sure gave him some chills. A dangerous individual too much for the police to handle was in his town.

"We will stay here at a hotel until we get our hands on him." Jotaro then informed, intending to reassure them.

Just as the two adults were about to leave, the pompadour teen stopped them.

"Wait a sec! Who is this guy anyway?" he demanded to know. Understandable as that man posed a danger to him and the townspeople.

"Someone truly sick and evil who you shouldn't get yourselves involved with, under any circumstances." the redhead reminded in a dark tone, stressing the need to stay clear and be careful.

They were being cryptic, clearly withholding information. For good reason, as knowing about this individual could disturb and sicken them, as that individual was regarded as the sickest, most dangerous criminal in all of Japan. His name was Katagiri Anjuro, nicknamed 'Angelo'. A native of Morioh, who was 34 years old but spent 20 years of his life in prison, starting at age 12. Robbery, rape, kidnapping, mutilation and murder were just a part of all the crimes he committed. One case was so disturbing that he was sentenced to death for it. But in 1998, a year prior, he somehow managed to survive his execution by hanging. 2 weeks after the failed execution, he broke out of jail and seems to have gone hiding in Morioh. Angelo is still lurking in the shadows, looking for his next prey.

"I'll see you tomorrow." his partner simply said. "Josuke, your ability is really dangerous. Try only using it when necessary, okay?"

Those words being the last things they had to say, the pair of adults left the scene, walking away.

"…"

Left behind, baffled, Koichi and Josuke looked at each other directly in the eyes.

"Oh, hey, anyway…"

So the two started talking, getting to know each other better. Mere minutes later, they were already getting along quite way, becoming buds at a rapid speed.

XXXXXXXXXX

After walking a little, Josuke and Koichi came across a large group of people, gathering around something. There was a great ruckus, with even the police involved. Curious about the unfolding event, the two boys went straight into the pool of people, pushing forward to the front.

Apparently, there was a robbery in the local convenience store and the robber took the female clerk as a hostage.

"What?!"

Both of them were shocked that such a thing happened in this peaceful town.

Just then, the robber with his hostage exited the store, coming out in the open. Police were already at the frontlines, both confronting the perp from a distance and holding back the crowd.

"Look, he came out!"

The criminal was holding a knife at the clerk's throat.

"Help me!" she fearfully cried, tears coming out of her eyes.

"Hey, throw away your knife!" a policeman ordered.

"All of you, stay back!" the hostage taker shouted back.

"Let her go!"

"Hey, I know her!" Koichi told, having more of a reason to worry.

"Oh man, he really looks pissed. He's really gonna kill her!" Josuke observed, also having a concerned look on his face.

In the following moment, the armed criminal started making demands. "I want a car, now! Everyone stay back!"

"Whoa…! Josuke, let's go back!" Koichi suggested, going along to not endanger the woman's life.

"Ye- yeah… Man he's scary."

While retreating backwards, the two approached a car parked at the sidewalk. The hostage taker wasn't pleased about that.

"Hey, you! You with the stupid hairdo! I told everyone to stay away from the car! You wanna die or what?!" he shouted, clearly addressing the boy with the pompadour.

Koichi, hearing such a thing being uttered for the third time in a day, got a really bad premonition. "Wait… Wait a second… Something bad is about to happen!"

Turning his head to the side, he noticed that Josuke had already moved, walking towards the perp. The insulted boy bore seriously pissed expression.

"What? What the hell did you just say?"

"Josuke!" Koichi exclaimed, pressing his palms against the sides of his head with his eyes and mouth widened. "No… Don't tell me you're getting riled up because of that again! Weren't you told to be careful!?"

Besides him, the police officers were also calling on him to stop.

"What are you doing?"

"Hey, stay away from him!"

Finally, even the hostage taker reacted at the angered teen approaching him, contrary to his commands. "Who the fuck are you?! Get back!"

The clerk being held hostage believed that because of this, she'd die for sure. Not wanting to accept this, she screamed out with tears flowing down. "NOOOOOOO!"

"Get back, kid! He might kill her because of your stunt!" one policeman ordered, pointing out that exact issue.

Seeing that Josuke simply wouldn't stop coming closer, the criminal exploded in anger. "Damn it! Now I'm really pissed! I'm gonna cut her really fucking bad!"

However, before the man could perform a stab, Josuke summoned his Stand and punched a hole through the stomachs of both hostage and hostage taker, also taking the knife, all at speeds faster than a normal human's eye could register.

"You're really pissed? That's what I should be saying!"

One instant later, the gaping holes in those people were fixed, and pulled the hostage away from the criminal.

"Huh?!"

"I… I'm fine!"

Both were confused, just briefly getting the impression that something had happened to them.

And then, the perpetrator noticed something unbelievable.

"NOOOOOOOO! My… My knife's inside of my tummy!" he screamed in panic, looking at his stomach where his knife was directly under his skin. It truly looked horrific and disgusting. "How could this happen?!"

"Go see a surgeon then." Josuke calmly but scornfully remarked. "In the prison hospital."

Suddenly, something weird occurred. The man started collapsing, his eyes went crazy and there was something coming out of his mouth.

"Ugh… Ublm… Huuurgh!"

"?!" Josuke's eyes widened in disbelief.

A small, blue humanoid with an evil-looking face crawled out of the man's mouth. It had sharp teeth and 2 red eyes on its face. But those two eyes weren't all of them, there were dozens more on its arms, legs, torso and back. All in all, it had a creepy appearance.

"Gugugugugu-" it started laughing, sounding just as it looked – evil. "Oh, another one. So I'm not the only Stand user in this town. It was fun committing crimes with this guy's body. But you! You dare disturb my plans…"

"Oh! You're the one! The guy from that picture!" Josuke noticed.

The Stand then crawled away, into a gutter opening. Though before it fully retreated, it glared at the pompadour boy one more time.

"I'll keep an eye on you from now on. Everywhere you go, I'll be watching you." it announced, declaring Josuke his new target. "Hehehehe, got it?"

"What? You bastard!"

Just as Josuke was getting mad at the Stand, he was grabbed and apprehended by the police officers from behind.

"Get that punk!"

"Uwaaah! Hey officer, wait a second!"

Accidentally, he got himself into trouble.

Cut.

So, this marks the start of the new part. This isn't much, but from now there's only better to come. Kakyoin's presence will make a lot of future arcs play out differently. Look forward to it, readers.
